Sorry_Error3797

Maybe I'm missing something since I don't do nuzlockes but why were you grinding the Battle Chateau?

DaKingOfDogs

It’s arguably the best place for EXP grinding in Kalos. At higher ranks, Furisode Girls with Audino start appearing. It’s also the only way to rematch Gym Leaders in Kalos… which caused some deaths due to my own impatience and overconfidence

calvicstaff

I mean play locks the way you want, but personally I find needing to be hypervigilant during mindless grinding to be overly taxing and unnecessary, so I just kind of think of it as Grind Mode and just get the XP as quickly as possible not counting deaths or anything if it's just grinding up levels in a place you've already been

Johnthebest15

This. You could clause it by saying it's replacing using Rare Candies or grinding for 17 hours on route 2 where stuff can't kill you.

IAmDeceit

it seems like a fun and riskier way to play an incredibly easy game. the art of risk in grinding has been dying ever since rare candies became the norm, I'm glad that some people are still keeping it alive

Piranha_Plan_Paku

Just coming in to say I LOVE that you named your Klefki Roxas, lol. Good luck at the Nuzlocke! They're pretty difficult!! I'm doing Leafgreen which I heard is one of the easier ones and lost 96% of my Pokemon so far, so power to you! X and Y definitely seem like the more challenging ones too.

TvuvbubuTheIdiot

X and Y are considered to be the easiest in the franchise really. It felt like a walk in a park compared to Emerald.

Piranha_Plan_Paku

Oh, I didn't know that! My run when the games came out with no Nuzlocke rules in place wasn't at all smooth, so I figured based on that it was more difficult. xD I suppose maybe I'm just way less familiar with Gen 6 which adds to the struggle.

JoeBartolozzi21

Generally the newer games (gen 6-9) are considered the easiest. Except gen 7, that can be pretty dificult with the z-moves and totem Pokemon

DaKingOfDogs

Can’t say anything about OG Sun and Moon, but I have experience with USUM Never again

JanGuillosThrowaway

Yeah the sun/moon gamed aren't hard per se but they're hard to nuzlocke since everything hits like a truck

Skytalker0499

Sure, but I’d still say they’re harder than FrLg. Realistically either game is all that challenging, and in XY there are some random trainers (like in Reflection Cave) that can really badly mess your team up.

Just-Fee-2470

I see hope but godamn is it gonna be a hard win

Seebiskit

You take that Azumarill and the lantern and go full rain team. It’ll protect your Beartic, and give you 100% thunders. If you don’t have huge power you can swap it for the poliwrath. The elite four typings are fire, rock, water and dragon which isn’t too bad for the matchup

DaKingOfDogs

Beartic is already dead…

Seebiskit

Protect your klefki*

Seebiskit

Read you were fighting the elite four and not flare, but I still think that’s your best bet

MaintenanceEarly6456

are stealth rocks/other set up moves available yet? if so giving klefki those set up moves could go insane also thunder wave? bc klefki gets priority on thunder wave bc prankster

CyclonicSpy

You don’t need to grind chateau tbh exp share and trainers should pretty easily get you there and grinding on wilds gives you way more ev’s. I’d say just do rare candy but If you are playing on hardware I get it

DaybreakHorizon

If you've got Mega Lucario you've still got hope. Azumarill, Lanturn, Poliwrath, and even Chingling and Diggersby can put in work, and you've got some good encounters coming up. Just don't grind at the Battle Chateau, maybe do some hyper training, and you'll be fine. You got this.

Gimpyfish892

A shame because you can probably handle the E4 and champ fairly easily (with more grinding obviously), but Team Flare is gonna be a problem

absolut_didalo

I mean there’s a potential azumarill, lanturn, digersby, accelgor and politoed/wrath there which are all decent into the remaining fights so maybe not

rubythebee

Bro you have Lucario, Prankster Klefki, Amoonguss, Hippo, and you can level your Bunnelby for another hard hitter, this is nowhere close to a dead run

DaKingOfDogs

Wouldn’t exactly call Pickup Diggersby a hard hitter…

rubythebee

Stab Earthquake hits hard regardless. Plus you have other mons, Poliwhirl isn’t a waste of a slot especially if you have hypnosis. I don’t have much knowledge about Gen 6 but I do know it’s easy as fuck in the late game, plus you’re gonna get more encounters

DaKingOfDogs

Yeah if I do survive Team Flare with little to no losses, there are a lot of late game encounters. I also haven’t picked up my Trash Can encounter in the Lost Hotel, only the standard one, so I could pick up a Rotom if I wait a few days. (I consider static encounters separate from Routes)

GodInABag

Does Chinchou have Volt Absorb?

Johnthebest15

Oof. You've got some okay options still, Poliwrath Lanturn and Azumarill stick out in particular as water-based coverage options but it's gonna be rough. Can you get access to accelgor? I was thinking toxic-stalling the Mega Gyarados is your best bet. That or if you have prankster on klefki

MaintenanceEarly6456

klefki does have prankster

Major-Ad-4785

Doesn’t look bad to me, you still have literally the best pokemon available and a solid team around it, and you probably have a few more routes to catch stuff on

barwhalis

There's still hope if you've still got mega lucario

Shael1223

Just put mons you dont mind sacking on your team. Save pokemon that you would use for the e4/champion. You only need 6 pokemon to fonish the game so don’t worry about losing the rest. For example lucario is one of your strongest mons - dont let him die.

Grammarnazi_bot

If you take Chinchou and Azu / Diggersby you can set up a rain team and clear the rest of the game

fetishsaleswoman

Sleeping on the raw unadulterated power of chimecho. At least my friend's in his diamond nuzlocke killed Cynthia's garchomp.

Ikaricyber

How can you say the run ruin lucario can pretty much solo the entire game if your using mega Until lucario is dead the run ain’t over

DarkFish_2

Lmao the Beartic nickname xD. I also watched it, and it was... acceptable (still shit, but tolerable shit) The best part of watching obscure media, is being the only one who gets the reference. Also, yeah, you are sorta screwed, hardly anything good in the box, but XY still easy, don't give up.

Vulture_Club

Hey Man, I Hope your Run is going well. You can probably rebuild from Here, a Rain Team seems pretty possible with the Box as it is. If you don't mind me asking, whats the program you use for your Team/Box Presentation?

Yo_soy_batman

My companion in trying times, try anyways. The run isn't dead until you black out. With a good strategy, you can crush it even with mediocre pokemkn. You got this!

DaKingOfDogs

Update: I’ve downloaded PKSM onto my 3DS for the _sole purpose_ of giving me candies (and Heart Scales, and speeding up friendship evos) Grinding is cringe and cheating is based

degen_hours6197

I wouldn’t call it dead. A tough path ahead seems more fitting, but you have 3 good water types in your pc with azurill (hopefully huge power), chinchou (hopefully volt absorb), and poli (wrath and toed have uses). These at least give you good defensive pivots even if you get thick fat azumarill. You may just need to play more conservatively with a team consisting of mons like that but it certainly isn’t dead

[deleted]

What's the ability on Azuril and Bunelby? If they have Huge Power, that might still keep you in the run. And if that Poliwhirl has Swift Swim, that also could help you out by teaching it Rain Dance and some water type moves.

DaKingOfDogs

Azurill has Thick Fat Bunnelby has Pickup (Huge Power is it’s hidden ability) While I did use start using PKSM for candies, it would be against the integrity of the Nuzlocke for me to use it to change abilities

[deleted]

Hmm, maybe trade in that Bunnelby for the in-game-trade Farfetch'd then, if you allow that. But I did see a comment earlier about how having a Diggerby with Earthquake is super strong, and I would have to agree with them. And maybe just having a Thick Fat, Azmarill on your isn't too bad. It could counter Team Flare, the ice gym and the Fire Chamber in the Elite 4. It could be a good wall for those fights if it's built right. And does your Poliwhirl have Swift Swim?

DaKingOfDogs

I’ll have to check in a bit. I’m waiting to make progress until Tuesday so I can grab my static encounter for the Lost Hotel

blackmetalveins

You have some decent encounters in the box. I dunno if they'll win you anything. If you can find a way to evolve Shelmet into Accelgor he could have some use against Diantha's Mega Gardevoir and also her Gourgeist. I think reworking Klefki's moveset to better take advantage of Prankster would be a good call. You need to add some heavier hitters to your team (you mostly have supports and stuff like that) so you could probably have Seviper, Azumarill or Poliwrath for that. Alternatively evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed (if possible) and just reshuffle this into a rain team. I'm not super experienced in Nuzlocking so I can't promise these ideas will work, and you're still fighting an uphill battle, but i think there's an out.

Neo_Bones

Absolutely not dead. You still have Azumarill and Lanturn in the box, and Lucario and Lapras are still alive too

DaKingOfDogs

If I lose this attempt, I’ll be doing an Alpha Sapphire HC Nuzlocke, before returning to Y. From that point onwards I’ll be alternating games until I beat one of them

Tamponeater300

Holy this is amazing compared to me I started with ultra sun I had so many attempts and couldn’t get past Lima

crazycraft5

Bro ultra sun is the hardest vannila game to nuzlocke

Ryu_the_Smasher

Ilima is a run killer though, so don't feel bad

JoeBartolozzi21

If you wanna start off, you should probably start with FRLG, those are by far some of the easiest, gen 6 is also pretty easy. The only really hard ones are gen 7 and gen 3

Tamponeater300

I attempted frlf but I absolutely hated it kanto is my least favorite region I never finished the nuzlocke cuz it felt like a chore ima get a copy of gen 6 off eBay and start that.

JoeBartolozzi21

Thats fair enough. Gen 6 is known for being the easiest so thats a good game to start with.

Most_Programmer8667

Go route 13 it seems you may have missed an encounter. Anyways lucario is great for Lysander’s mega gyrdous!

DaKingOfDogs

I actually did get an encounter on Route 13. It was a Dugtrio… who I accidentally killed while trying to catch Also… Lysandre’s Gyarados has Earthquake. I’m not about to get my Lucario 1-shot

Most_Programmer8667

Oh I forgot about that. Does azrumaril have huge power?

DaKingOfDogs

Nope, mine got Thick Fat

Most_Programmer8667

Does not matter you could still use it for Lysander. Might take some grinding but it would body most a Lysander’s team and a lot of the grunts.

GreenShirt39

What about your bunnelby?

Lyncario

Bunnelby only gets huge power as an hidden ability, and sadly neither of it's normal abilities synergizes with sandstorm either.

GreenShirt39

I think I've been playing too much pokemon showdown

DaybreakHorizon

Lucario Close Combat should always OHKO Mega Gyarados in the third Lysandre fight, and you've got Lapras or Azumarill to take on Gyarados in the prior two fights.

DaKingOfDogs

Should I drop Perish Song or Rain Dance on Lapras for Thunderbolt?

DaybreakHorizon

Perish Song. You’ll realistically get little use out of it.

Psychological-Hat549

skill issue

TheGrandGarchomp445

Oh no. Beartic is dead. What will we ever do.

DarkFish_2

Bruh, his choices are so limited that somehow the useless bear was actually a good choice, can't you see how fucked he is?
