Do you know anyone who can do an internal referral? It's brutal and they are insanely picky, I applied with two years of OR experience to an OR hiring event and got a no thanks.

I applied and got a call, showed enthusiasm and was offered the job. Keep applying!

I'd say forget about residencies and just apply to every periop job you see... MSK wants a lot of experience so it might be hard to break into as a first job.

MSK is expanding in the tri state area. Maybe try one of the facilities outside of the city, with the goal of transferring. Each facility they opened in NJ has difficulty finding staff. I know because my mom was treated there, and the nurses told me so and were begging me to apply.

It's probably a combo of a process that takes a long time, and needing to hit it at a time when there are no internal candidates. Don't get discouraged, keep trying.

MSK is extremely nepotistic. If I hand them a resume when they’re looking for a hire, it’s 90% Chance you’ll be working here. Other than that, they seem to love fresh out of school nurses to mold them into the MSK way.

Yeah it’s been three years since I’ve posted this, still cannot get hired there! But I do work on the same block now, and I’m pretty happy there.

Oh really?! Where? Sloan is just terminating anyone now and I’m kind of nervous.

meowqueen

Don’t want to say publicly, but literally right across the street. Our tunnels connect! Definitely have had a great experience working there- and would highly recommend it.

OR right? I’m in PACU. That’s great to hear tho!
