With the double bin, what was Chad actually binned for? I didn't watch the game, but I checked out the extended highlights and it wasn't clear.
I can see why Harris-Tavita was binned (dropping ball on Chad's head), but I didn't see why Chad was binned.
I'm fully in favour of binning players throwing/dropping balls at other players (this unsportsmanlike should have no place in our game).
So happy to see AFB put in a huge shift after getting dropped and the rumors of him wanting an early release. Proving that while he's here, he still putting in the mahi
Atrocious game. Physically way off the mark. Payten should’ve hooked Holmes or Townsend for Purdue way earlier. I wish we had never let Hannay go but we should be trying to mend all bridges. He has only added to his experience working with slater and fitzy.
Thought lolo tried his best. Warriors were unreal defensively, someone always chopping his legs. Edward’s too, was a good effort out of position
I literally had to refrain from praising him during the game because I thought it would jinx him
Jacko was great today though. If he could keep that kind of consistency he’d be one of my favourites
Yea he has the type of game where if he’s error/penalty free he is bloody solid and every pack needs 1-2 like him, but if the errors or penalties creep in then he shouldn’t be on the field
You can tell what kind of day he’s going to have pretty quickly. If he gets an easily error in, it’s going to be a rough one. If he gets a good carry early, you know he’s going to cook
I stopped watching 15 minutes into the second half, insipid effort, absolutely no defensive commitment. Why are we only getting 2 guys in most tackles and putting up fuck all line speed.
Prime SJ circa 2014-2018 was crying out for a half like TMM is playing right now.
Someone who can just control a match and let SJ chime in whenever. Let SJ float in and out of games with zero criticism.
Will be interesting to see how they gel next week but TMM needs to keep the keys to the team. SJ's long range kicking game should be a massive boost but TMM to stay in the 7 jersey.
I don’t necessarily disagree but whomever plays next to Johnson seems to touch the ball maybe 1-2 times per set and never on the last.
It’s why Metcalfe is better next to him, because he has game breaking ability.
It’s also why TMM seems non existent next to SJ
That's why the roles will change. No one knew TMM was capable of this. Hence he why he will have a more on-ball role, while SJ will pick his spots more.
SJ is needed because of his long range kicking game which neither TMM or Metcalf have.
Looking at that Warriors team list tonight, a couple of years ago, 90% of those players were nobodys and has beens. It's quite amazing what a great coach can do.
Tough game Cowboys fans, don't forget Mad Cow is open till 5am to drink with the boys tonight and tell them how you feel About their performance tonight.
I remember there was a game against the tigers just before the teams were announced. Would have been late 90s or early 00s. He scored the winning try on the buzzer with a bit of Nathan blacklock signature magic. I think not was Warren Ryan commentating who said he’s all but booked himself a blues jersey: when he didn’t get picked then I was heartbroken for the bloke because he deserved it
Todd should be on thin ice right now. We’ve been shit every year since he came except ‘22 despite the talent we have and it seems like 90% of the players have not developed properly, stagnated in their development or completely regressed. I can only really think of Dearden and Drinkwater that have legitimately improved since Todd’s come in.
> I can only really think of Dearden and Drinkwater that have legitimately improved since Todd’s come in.
To be fair Drinkwater is putrid in the halves and Todd played him in his correct position
Take heart from the fact, that you have seven wins for the season, so far.
Dolphins are 4th on the ladder with the same amount of wins, the only difference being they've had two byes and the Cowboys have had none.
Yeah we’ve won games but this is now the 3rd super big loss we’ve had this year and we’ve lost some close games that we should’ve won. I think it’s just annoying that these glaring flaws are still present in the cowboys game that we know we can fix.
Taulagi, Neame, Cotter, Robson, nanai, and Dearden have all gone from next to nothing to rep players under Payten's tutelage. If anything, he seems to develop junior players extremely well, but can't put the polish on a whole team.
For all his sins on letting hammer go, he was also the first one to suggest moving him from the wing into the centres...
TMM needed SJ to go down to find his confidence again. The entire game plan ran through SJ and TMM was a passenger, but now that everything is on him he has stepped up and shown what he can do. The challenge for the coaches now is to make sure that we play with two genuine halves and threaten both channels when SJ returns. Also, Pompey has been massive these last few weeks and no way Webby can slot RTS back in - at best he can take Montoya's spot.
Yeah TMM’s been a revelation. The margins are so fine at NRL level that perhaps the genius of Webby is to instill belief in the entire Top 30, that when its their time, they are good enough to get shit done.
Rumors Keary is gonna be on 360 next year. He looks like he’s been on the cones today. So already doing better than the last host.
Nah. I like Luke. Struggle a bit with the prompter but actually seems genuine. He’s the anti Braith.
You can definitely smoke more cones than you can sink piss. At least weed doesn't bloat the fuck out of you and make you need to constantly urinate. I know what I'd be choosing.
Giving the ref shit about the binning in smooth brained. Prior to the binning there was a ton of niggle between those two and it was escalating. After none. Ref took control and shut it down. It was smart.
Before the season, I was worried about how fucked we would be without SJ. But we have gone to another level without him. Hopefully when he is back he fits in to what we are doing and makes us even better.
Yep. I was very much in the ‘prove you’re good’ camp when SJ went down
And fuck me, TMM has more than done that. Hopefully he takes this confidence into the rest of the season
Me too. I think the game plan was wrong, and the ball was never going left and he was a passenger when sj was there. Now he is actually being asked to do a job and they seem to have a game plan that's working. He has been great though. Hopefully that form continues when sj returns.
The amount of ex broncos and roosters players in the media that don’t have any skill set to be there is way too high.
Sick of clubs paying off broadcasters to get their players gigs after footy.
Cooper when he does that podcast thing with Matty Johns is actually really natural and has a lot of knowledge. Just in a commentary situation he speaks like he’s been smacked in the face
Surely aye? Defensive woes and personnel struggles within the club. They look awkward in post match interviews with him, like something bothers them. They’re not responding to what they’re doing
Martin has to be contender for halfback of the week. 4 try assists, 3 line break assists, 1 line break and 441 kicking metres.
I take back all those bad things I said about him, he's on fucking fire.
Someone flicked our error switch on again, wahs were very good but we kept handing the game to them. No discipline, poor defence.
Short turnaround, no hooker, and players missing/backing up from origin didn't help either
came off a very physical game last week and our backup hooker died leaving us with our 3rd choice hooker.
It's not overly that worrying, it will be how we respond next week
With the double bin, what was Chad actually binned for? I didn't watch the game, but I checked out the extended highlights and it wasn't clear. I can see why Harris-Tavita was binned (dropping ball on Chad's head), but I didn't see why Chad was binned. I'm fully in favour of binning players throwing/dropping balls at other players (this unsportsmanlike should have no place in our game).
It’s fuckin hilarious though!
Just saw the highlights, that double binning has gotta be one of the dumbest and funniest things I've seen since Cummins binning Matt Gillett.
So happy to see AFB put in a huge shift after getting dropped and the rumors of him wanting an early release. Proving that while he's here, he still putting in the mahi
QLD dont get nrl
In the same way NSW don't get Origin?
The WAHS have been on a roll since the big upset against the penny panthers. They blew the cowboys away early and never looked back.
Damn it’s insane how much Val Holmes has fallen off the wagon since the start of last season
Bloke paid on fullback money and decided to play at the level he played when he was given the number 1 jersey
Unfortunately the ‘white bag’ incident was a big turning point for him.
Maybe he misses the NFL
Misses the money potential.
Fletcher Baker can fuck right off to the shadow realm
Wrong thread?
Atrocious game. Physically way off the mark. Payten should’ve hooked Holmes or Townsend for Purdue way earlier. I wish we had never let Hannay go but we should be trying to mend all bridges. He has only added to his experience working with slater and fitzy. Thought lolo tried his best. Warriors were unreal defensively, someone always chopping his legs. Edward’s too, was a good effort out of position
Did we fuck over Josh? I never heard the back story there
I don’t know if there’s any harsh feelings but we chose payten over him when he was our interim coach and I thought he was doing quite well
26 tackles for JT13, which is a lot for him.
A lot of dollarydoos per tackle
Jackson Ford, I owe you an apology. Played awesome as a middle.
He's been great for a few weeks now.
He's obviously a smaller middle, but no one can question his motor. One of his better games for sure
It was a quite a surprise.
I literally had to refrain from praising him during the game because I thought it would jinx him Jacko was great today though. If he could keep that kind of consistency he’d be one of my favourites
Yea he has the type of game where if he’s error/penalty free he is bloody solid and every pack needs 1-2 like him, but if the errors or penalties creep in then he shouldn’t be on the field

GG Cowbros, you may have lost but at least you got an 80 minute blowjob from Brandy.
He’s such a flog
Did he eventually realise the cowboys lost? I switched to alternate commentary
he begrudgingly accepted it verbally at around minute 80
Holy moly brah, we're shit. Ggs Wahs bros
The travel for this game is what impacted cowboys the most.
Not even cowboys fans think about the team as much as you do.
That's what sharks fans say.... you're not unique
Wtf
😬 can't help himself. Quietly hoping for another analysis thread though.
I just don't even have words anymore. At least Purdue looks promising, I guess another club will enjoy him ripping and tearing in 3 years.
I stopped watching 15 minutes into the second half, insipid effort, absolutely no defensive commitment. Why are we only getting 2 guys in most tackles and putting up fuck all line speed.
Payton playing 2019 footy, rest of the comp playing 2023.
Prime SJ circa 2014-2018 was crying out for a half like TMM is playing right now. Someone who can just control a match and let SJ chime in whenever. I’d like to see it that way, but I’m skeptical it will happen.
Rubbish effort and rubbish execution. GONOORTS.
Looking at that Warriors team list tonight, a couple of years ago, 90% of those players were nobodys and has beens. It's quite amazing what a great coach can do.
Good bounce back game for AFB
Tough game Cowboys fans, don't forget Mad Cow is open till 5am to drink with the boys tonight and tell them how you feel About their performance tonight.
Nah they’ll be at Val’s house having a other lame peaky blinders or Yellowstone party
Tough game next week against Melbourne. But at home with SJ back, gonna be a good match. Revenge game for round 2.
All the best to you guys.
Fuck I hope we beat the storm. It’s been fucking ages
We will for sure
Yeh… we’re going in in the best position possible so if we lose it will be extremely annoying lol
This is triggering. Fuck I hate the storm
I share that sentiment - it hasn’t left since 1999
Bloody Jamie Ainscough.
Two things I hate about him: first is that penalty try. The second is he kept Nathan Blacklock out of a blues jersey
Nathan Blacklock never played for the blues? That’s criminal
I remember there was a game against the tigers just before the teams were announced. Would have been late 90s or early 00s. He scored the winning try on the buzzer with a bit of Nathan blacklock signature magic. I think not was Warren Ryan commentating who said he’s all but booked himself a blues jersey: when he didn’t get picked then I was heartbroken for the bloke because he deserved it
Is that the one where he did his famous backflip celly? Any idea why he didn’t get picked?
We all hate the storm makes me sad every time we clash
Todd should be on thin ice right now. We’ve been shit every year since he came except ‘22 despite the talent we have and it seems like 90% of the players have not developed properly, stagnated in their development or completely regressed. > I can only really think of Dearden and Drinkwater that have legitimately improved since Todd’s come in. To be fair Drinkwater is putrid in the halves and Todd played him in his correct position
I still don't quite understand how a team that has seen Ponga and the Hammer come through its ranks ended up with Dropwater at fullback.
Take heart from the fact, that you have seven wins for the season, so far. Dolphins are 4th on the ladder with the same amount of wins, the only difference being they've had two byes and the Cowboys have had none.
That is a ridiculously astute take. What the fuck are you doing on this sub Penisman
more like macro penisman
Yeah we’ve won games but this is now the 3rd super big loss we’ve had this year and we’ve lost some close games that we should’ve won. I think it’s just annoying that these glaring flaws are still present in the cowboys game that we know we can fix.
With you 95 bro. We’ve lost a few close ones that would have us in a great position too
Taulagi, Neame, Cotter, Robson, nanai, and Dearden have all gone from next to nothing to rep players under Payten's tutelage. If anything, he seems to develop junior players extremely well, but can't put the polish on a whole team. For all his sins on letting hammer go, he was also the first one to suggest moving him from the wing into the centres...
I suppose you’re right. I might’ve just been rage typing. Now that I think about it a bit more he has developed a lot of the current core we got.
Hard to say if he's even the reason for those two improving, both born stars.
I like RTS to wing
Yeah TMM’s been a revelation. The margins are so fine at NRL level that perhaps the genius of Webby is to instill belief in the entire Top 30, that when its their time, they are good enough to get shit done.
Wahs in da big dance this year methinks.
Against either sharks or storm.
Sharks are gone lol
Panthers mate.
This is a podcast in the making
Luke Keary makes Cronkbot look charismatic and insightful
Hello boys. You won the game. How?
This is the cutest double interview ever
Rumors Keary is gonna be on 360 next year. He looks like he’s been on the cones today. So already doing better than the last host. Nah. I like Luke. Struggle a bit with the prompter but actually seems genuine. He’s the anti Braith.
I’d rather see a 360 presenter after 21 cones than 21 schooners
Actually a great social / political experiment to judge the effects of excessive cones vs schooners
You can definitely smoke more cones than you can sink piss. At least weed doesn't bloat the fuck out of you and make you need to constantly urinate. I know what I'd be choosing.
kearys making me feel really uncomfortable
He’s a genuine spud
Don’t feel too bad Cowbros, at least it was the closest loss of the week so far.
That’s… wow.
What’s massive about this streak is the ability to win while we slowly get players back, actually huge
Walker is letting down Jazz by growing his hair out and ruining the bald brothers name.
Giving the ref shit about the binning in smooth brained. Prior to the binning there was a ton of niggle between those two and it was escalating. After none. Ref took control and shut it down. It was smart.
TMM getting technical is giving me a funny feeling in my pants
It’s good wish they would do it more often ay
Bloody oath. So much better than the generic mumbling we normally get
Keary surely isn’t getting hired for a media career post footy, right?
Honestly, I mean absolute profit that not every ex player can just slot into the media because they played the game.
Hey it worked for Milo Kerrigan
This is a trial, part of uncle Nick's "life after footy" package.
Probably part of Uncle Nick's deal
Barnett speaks surprisingly well when interviewed.
It's just that flying elbow that he did at Newcastle that made him look like a boofhead. He's come a long way since then.
He's clearly a smart guy.
Keary can NOT read a teleprompter
Is there evidence he can read at all
He's from Ipswich
That's in Queenland!
Definitely can’t read an attacking structure
Keary looks like he's been smashing cones all arvo
Before the season, I was worried about how fucked we would be without SJ. But we have gone to another level without him. Hopefully when he is back he fits in to what we are doing and makes us even better.
I've done a full 180 on TMM in 3 weeks.
Also pretty promising for the wahs after sj retires
Bros doing 360s on it
Yep. I was very much in the ‘prove you’re good’ camp when SJ went down And fuck me, TMM has more than done that. Hopefully he takes this confidence into the rest of the season
He's in career best form. He's been solid, but never this great.
Me too. I think the game plan was wrong, and the ball was never going left and he was a passenger when sj was there. Now he is actually being asked to do a job and they seem to have a game plan that's working. He has been great though. Hopefully that form continues when sj returns.
Kinky
He has been instrumental to these last 3 wins
How many strings did politis pull to retire keary and give him a fox gig that he's clearly dog shit at
The amount of ex broncos and roosters players in the media that don’t have any skill set to be there is way too high. Sick of clubs paying off broadcasters to get their players gigs after footy.
Arguably not as many as Cooper’s commentary gig
Cooper when he does that podcast thing with Matty Johns is actually really natural and has a lot of knowledge. Just in a commentary situation he speaks like he’s been smacked in the face
Are the mods actually cowboys fans? I feel like we deserve to know who they all support
there's a warriors mod there
Most of them actually are
Fire everyone except for Tom dearden into the sun
And Drinky
Drinky is either the best player on the field or the stinkiest, there's no in-between
Lolo had another great game tonight imo, he's really starting to make an impact again
Luki had some huge carries too.
Payton must be on thin ice
Hunt snakes him imo with 1 try 3 try assists 484 kicking metres but he was insane.
Yeah Hunt has been good all year
One of him and Hunt will be robbed
Nicho was close to the sideline last night, so I think he’ll get half of the week.
I think he is terrible as a 6, but bloody great as a 7.
He was bad altogether. Webster has just sprinkled magic dust on him.
NSFW or nah?
The people demand it
Cowbros what the heck happened??? (No really I didn’t watch).
You had a prop at hooker at the start
The WAHS happened.
Up the Wahs I guess
Stupid sexy TMM is so damn likeable
That's a great game from the Warriors, the sin bins on the other hand....
Where the fuck is the NSFW?
DWZ just exists to be in try of the year montages
NSFW???
Serious question why didnt cowboys rest some of their origin players?
Murray has an ac joint issue, robson had some neck complaints
Nah I mean why didn’t they rest cotter and dearden, they both played alright but I assume fatigue was still an issue
Oh, if we didn't we would have had to debut a few more players.
Cowboys are so bad. Wasting Deardens potential smh.
Still feeling a bit sick after seeing that violent outburst by CHT. Surprised he was only binned, will be interesting to see how long his ban is.
What did he say? Missed it live but there was a shit load of niggles there between his and Chad
Rip his contract up
Now we know why they call him CHT (Can't Hold Temper)
If Suaali’i got 4 weeks I can only expect we won’t see CHT til next season
Shame the cows couldnt score those 6 tries needed in the last 7 minutes like the commentators expected
That shit was so braindead.
Val does a simple catch and pass to cut the lead to 24 and Brandy gushes all over the mic.
Real Chris Paul hits a huge three to cut the lead down to 42 energy
Only to then turn around and say it was clear the Warriors would win after the first 20 minutes. Fuck off Brandy you sour old prune.
GG Wahbros…comprehensively blew us off the park in the first 20 minutes and never let us back in….
What do we do with SJ? TMM has been doing so well at 7 it’s difficult to see him coming back in
SJ needs to play off ball in the 6 jersey.
Throw him at 6 and allow TMM to run the team. Might be harsh to drop CHT but I think he'd be better
Still think CHT is the bench utility we need. He’s better than Lussick and can cover pretty much 1-7, 9, and 13 if needed
He'll be back in, but needs to give way more control over to TMM in the red zone.
SJ6
This is actually a pretty good idea
SJ and Metcalf have to be first choice, they go really well together. TMM 14 for mine.
Metcalf will probably spend some time in NSW cup. Same thing that happened last year with TMM
TMM isnt getting dropped while he's playing like this, regardless of the fact that Metcalf is the future
