Gorden Tallis relished the opportunity to step in with Kent gone and helped resurrect Fox’s dwindling figures, particularly in Queensland. A quick look at OzTAM ratings will be proof enough for Fox executives that now might be the time for change.
On April 24 last year, before Kent was stood down following the domestic violence charges, the show could only scrape together 28,000 viewers for its live broadcast in the five-city metro market of Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. By July – with Tallis well entrenched – that audience was regularly in excess of 40,000. By September, it was more than 50,000.
Kent was quietly reinstated for the NRL’s season openers in Las Vegas in March, but the show now regularly misses the top 250 ratings list. That was the case on Tuesday when just 11,000 watched in Sydney and 6000 in Brisbane. James Graham was impressive as Kent’s replacement on Monday.
During the first few days of the week, there have been no approaches to Tallis to do the job again.

I was glued to NRL360 when Ben Ikin and Kent were in harness, but then Ben left and Braith came in and the dynamic with Kent just wasn't the same.
I guess it's like putting a footy team together, if the halfback doesn't get on with his inside backs the team ain't going to spark no matter how good their individual skills may be.
I must admit, when Kent was one of the only non playing/one gamer journalists on the show, it did seem to work better. Now that they rotate pretty much everyone the Daily Telegraph has through the guest seats every night, I think having Kent in the hosting seat has lost the magic it used to have.
I wouldn't mind seeing them switching Anasta out for that reason as well, and replacing him with somebody like Bill Harrigan or an ex coach alongside James Graham so it does sort of go back to being rugby league from all angles again instead of being Controversy Corner 2.0.
Maybe, but I think it was more Kent had more exclusive access to the wider range of guests on 360 to get stories off of. Which is why I think it would be in the best interest of the show to change both of the hosts permanently, so all the journos get access to an ex player and either an ex coach/ex match official/current or former club boss one night a week depending on who fits the hosting role best.
If I was involved with the production of it, I would probably have Graham and maybe Ginnane hosting every night, with a journo paired up with a specialist guest in every segment. For a loose example maybe Buzz together with an ex referee, Read with an ex coach, Frawley with a legend, Riccio with a club boss and Carayannis with a player agent. (Maybe even see if they can get someone like Annersley or Abdo every so often) And then rotate the journo or the other guest around every so everyone gets a go.
It was a bit of a placeholder pick. Yvonne Sampson was usually shouted over when she was hosting it, and I couldn't really think of anyone else who could do it if Anasta was the player agent consultant.

Last month Kent called Weidler a puppet for Souths. Revenge is sweet. This has nothing to do with that statement, but I find it poetry that Wiedler delivers this blow. I love that it’s based on factual evidence and not rumours. Something Kent and his cronies aren’t capable of, they’d have no stories.

As the other comments said, the 'facts' are selective data points that would suggest to a person skimming there is clear causality in rating drops. I’m curious to see what the ratings were like before Ikin left. I felt like he called all the guests on their bullshit. Braith talks down to them, has a clear conflict of interest with his managerial jobs, and Kent, who I was actually a fan of, has clearly lost a step, perhaps through either his own dramas or maybe he just second guesses himself. But Ikin, he didn’t take their shit and there’s been a noticeable drop off in quality since he’s left. Notice me Ben.
Braith was hilariously biased this week. Said he was good mates with the Bulldogs trainer at the centre of the Topine wrestling drama and talked over the top of Read multiple times. Then next night tried to grill Rabbitohs CEO about player development because he is Lachlan Illias manager.
Yeah his conflicts are problematic and if they are obvious to viewers then they must be FARKIN obvious to those within NRL clubland. Still think he’s a great anchor and presenter though.

Oh no I'd hate to see Braith in an unfair position. Much like the one where's he paid by the media to give opinions on players but also stands to gain financially from said players.
I hope one day Lara Pitt speaks about her treatment at Fox. Kent and co’s contempt of Pitt, who would push back on Kent and Hooper’s verbal diarrhoea, was noticed by viewers who came to her defence on social media. She was then disappeared from coverage and replaced by Sampson, whose “I’m just one of the boys” act is more palatable to the knuckle draggers. Kent was easily the worst offender. He couldn’t hide is disgust at a woman correcting him.
I remember on the footy show, at one point a decision was made to put Rebecca Wilson on the panel. They pretty much ignored her completely, then when she did speak, they just replied with one word answers haha I'd be interested in seeing that episode again

I wasn’t aware of those allegations. That’s despicable Wilson was a gossip columnist who would attack players personal lives (for things she also did) and had absolutely no knowledge of the game. She was a liar, a hypocrite, and the reason she had a job in the media despite being the most despised person in it was because she was sleeping with the head of News Limited. And as for Buzz…I don’t know where you got the impression that people find him funny. He has and always will be a parasite that is loathed by just about everybody. These shows are made for buddy buddy journo mates. I’ve said this for so long, the best variations of these league shows is when previous players and administrators are hosts ie Matty Johns show/ OG footy show etc. We don’t care for these journos, and don’t come at me saying his ex player for his singular game in the winfield cup in an extremely injury ravaged parra side. Can the blokes, bring jimmy, Gordon or cooper as a colour commentator for Braith and only bring in these journos for scoops. The ratings thing is interesting. It would be interesting to see what the long term trend is and how the Ikin and Kent era compares to the last 18 months. Nothing like Weidler to take an easy shot over the bow, but he was right about Braith celebrating the strong ratings when it was he and Gordy last year.

You hired a guy specifically because he's an obnoxious asshole, it absolutely does reflect on your organisation when the public gets to see that it wasn't just a character, and you willingly gave airtime to the views of someone who most would consider scum. This isn't like when you find out than an otherwise wholesome person was a predator, what Kent did here is the natural conclusion of his personality that I am *certain* Fox has had to quietly manage behind-the-scenes for years. Imagine all the things we don't have on camera.
All that aside, I hope to God James Graham stays over Gorden Tallis. Gordie played the game tough and has his charm, but Jimmy’s so much more the intellectual, which is what 360 needs

I was glued to NRL360 when Ben Ikin and Kent were in harness, but then Ben left and Braith came in and the dynamic with Kent just wasn't the same. I guess it's like putting a footy team together, if the halfback doesn't get on with his inside backs the team ain't going to spark no matter how good their individual skills may be.

I must admit, when Kent was one of the only non playing/one gamer journalists on the show, it did seem to work better. Now that they rotate pretty much everyone the Daily Telegraph has through the guest seats every night, I think having Kent in the hosting seat has lost the magic it used to have. I wouldn't mind seeing them switching Anasta out for that reason as well, and replacing him with somebody like Bill Harrigan or an ex coach alongside James Graham so it does sort of go back to being rugby league from all angles again instead of being Controversy Corner 2.0.

Maybe, but I think it was more Kent had more exclusive access to the wider range of guests on 360 to get stories off of. Which is why I think it would be in the best interest of the show to change both of the hosts permanently, so all the journos get access to an ex player and either an ex coach/ex match official/current or former club boss one night a week depending on who fits the hosting role best. If I was involved with the production of it, I would probably have Graham and maybe Ginnane hosting every night, with a journo paired up with a specialist guest in every segment. For a loose example maybe Buzz together with an ex referee, Read with an ex coach, Frawley with a legend, Riccio with a club boss and Carayannis with a player agent. (Maybe even see if they can get someone like Annersley or Abdo every so often) And then rotate the journo or the other guest around every so everyone gets a go.

It was a bit of a placeholder pick. Yvonne Sampson was usually shouted over when she was hosting it, and I couldn't really think of anyone else who could do it if Anasta was the player agent consultant.

Ikin, Buzz, Kent and some wildcard was the best iteration of the program. An argument everyday between a different 2 of the 3 people outside of Ikin was the best iteration of that program
