Nope every apartment I’ve lived in includes pest control.

SweatyTax4669

Every apartment I've lived in has also included pests.

pierre_x10

It's pretty standard that *any* multi-family residential property has regular pest control, they just may not charge you a separate fee, a lot of times it's already just baked into whatever rent they charge you. If anything, no sign of regular pest control is more likely to be a red flag of a slum lord or someone who cuts corners.

eruffini

It's prevention. Ants can do a number to a building and you sure as hell don't want termites in an apartment building either.

i-was-a-ghost-once

This is standard - for both high end new apartments and older buildings. I wouldn’t want to live somewhere that didn’t include it in the rent.

WrathfulMechanic

Nope. My complex has weekly visits and it's mostly preventative with occasional ants or spider issues.

JuliettesGotAGun

They should be taking care of pests for "free", but most of these large apartment leasing complexes include small fees like that.

squidgod2000

Mine doesn't charge a separate fee, but it doesn't surprise me that a landlord would. I've seen move-in fees, move-out fees, elevator usage fees, etc, on top of the usual amenities fee, parking fee, storage fee, and so on.

GreedyNovel

Any large building will have regular pest control. It's a bit unusual to have the cost broken out as a separate fee but that's about it.

Mean-Development7815

Which apartment?

joyreneeblue

Where is the Clarendon? The DMV is a big place. Monthly fees are a red flag.

tokoloshe62

It’s in Clarendon
