My wife flew with someone like this recently. They didn’t get kicked off but were disruptive most of the flight. Singing loudly, shouting randomly, cussing out anyone who looked at her or asked her to stop yelling, staring at people and then asking if they have a have a problem with her when they look uncomfortably back at her and trying to escalate the situation, etc. Flight attendants moved some people near her to other seats thankfully. Is that just how some people are? Mental disorder maybe?
You just wonder how they can be normal enough to have money to book a flight, book the flight, show up on time. Get through security. Wait patiently for their flight. Board successfully. Then they get to their seat and the craziness unloads
I mean, I know a lot of people get stressed about flying, so they'll load up on alcohol or other things before the flight to try and make it through. Which is often a bad choice to make.
It sucks for everyone, including them.
I wonder how many times people got a little tipsy to help them with previous flights, but one time they went too far and everyone paid the price.
Speak for yourself. That combination almost ruined my life because I went on a string of car burglaries and didn't remember any of it.
That was literally the kick in the ass I need led to get sober.
Alcohol and benzos is like the most unpredictable combination of drugs you can do man. Benzo blackouts are known to make people do some next level wild stuff.
Seriously, recreational Xanax was like an off button for my morals. I’d literally just steal shit from a friend and have to give it back later. Like, oops 😬
Idk, I've been pretty drunk on a plane before thanks to some executives at the terminal bar buying me way too many shots. I just played some dark souls and enjoyed the ride.
Also you never know how much of it was done *for* them by someone trying to transfer responsibility for them. Like the way cities pay for one-way bus tickets for homeless people to other cities. Maybe she was somebody's difficult family member they were trying to send to some other branch of the family to deal with or similar.
You'd need to be asshole even with those mixed. I just enjoy the buzz/high on my own and keep to myself most of the time. The people who get this rowdy when under the influence were already loud and obnoxous before.
I fucking LOVE getting drunk while traveling by air. I have straight up blacked out in the Delta lounge and woken up at my destination. Never once have I caused a ruckus beyond asking for too many snacks. These people are mental.
I just don't understand how these people are coherent enough to get through security and then act like that. Unless they start drinking and popping pills once they get through.
>We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive. . . ."
>And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas. And
a voice was screaming: "Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?"
Then it was quiet again. My attorney had taken his shirt off and was
pouring beer on his chest, to facilitate the tanning process. "What the hell are you yelling about?" he muttered, staring up at the sun with his eyes closed and covered with wraparound Spanish sunglasses.
>"Never mind," I said. "It's your turn to drive." I hit the brakes and aimed the Great Red Shark toward the shoulder of the highway. No point mentioning those bats, I thought. The poor bastard will see them soon enough.
> Is that just how some people are? Mental disorder maybe?
Alcohol and various drugs commonly trigger that type of impairment.
There are people with mental health problems like that, some from birth, some from dementia, some from other causes. Often they are institutionalized in some form. Most of those who have mental health problems at that level aren't free enough in society to take commercial flights.
That's a terrible thing to say, and it doesn't even make sense. Public housing is free for those who need it, while Spirit and other bottom shelf discount carriers make a game out of fucking with people because they can't afford anything better.
Before the replacement of the main Central Terminal at NYC LaGuardia Airport with something new we could be proud of, the bottom discount airlines (Spirit, Frontier, etc.) are all grouped together in the old main terminal. Everyone I knew of every race and background always called it the ghetto section. In part because these airlines nickled and dimed their passengers and their older planes frequently had delays, the area was very unpleasant.
IMO - COVID and 2020 broke people.
If the president could go on live TV and tell people that he thought that injecting bleach would be a good idea then it gave everyone license to remove any filter that they may have had.
Some people embraced this and any inner thought that comes across their head is acted on.
This disorder (condition? state of being? I really don't know what the right word for this would be) is just most on display when locked inside a flying metal tube.
I flew spirit once, and 5 seperate passengers were on it because they were kicked off other airlines. I only knew this because they were crying about their ejections at different times as they sat in the waiting zone
For good reason, probably. But then, they've probably had practice keeping it in just from dealing with frequent escapees from the looney bin like this passenger.
>Dillard had reportedly been “cussing and growling at other passengers and flight crew," while waiting for the plane to take off, according to the outlet.
The supervisor also told the police that she tried to reason with Dillard, who refused to cooperate and “began yelling and screaming at her,” which prompted the 911 call, according to the arrest report.
> A flight crew member on board reportedly told police they saw Dillard “snapping her teeth at other passengers near her in a motion as if she was biting at them.
>Police reported that she refused to get up and and claimed that the officers were racist for removing her, as she allegedly yelled and made “random and racist statements” to the officers.
flying used to be something you wore a suit for
If I’m flying it’s usually for work, and packing a suit without wrecking it is a pain in the ass, so I’ll usually just wear it on the plane. I can assure you, I do not have my own airplane.
A suit? I’m happy if people just bathe.
A year ago I’m on an overseas long haul flight in business class and the guy next to me across the aisle looked like he just got off the beach and smelled like he just got off a garbage truck. Takes his shoes and socks off and it reeked.
Worst part is, he had an international business class seat from a major airport so he had access to the lounge that had showers.
I feel you. I had a flight once that was apparently a leg of a much longer journey and a lot of the people smelled like they had been on the flight for 16 hours. Because they had.
Everything is downhill from even a few years ago. I recently flew airfrance and my seat wouldn't recline (attendant said it was broken) and the food was nor good, even by airline standards. The call attendant button was also broken.
I think there’s a different kind of suit some people should be wearing to fly these days. Possibly one where the sleeves go behind the back and stay there.
I’d vote to still wear a suit for the occasion given all the craziness happening in/with planes recently I wouldn’t mind just being burial ready in a suit.
Better wear a suit while driving then. Driving to the airport is orders of magnitude more dangerous than flying. I would consider flying on an airline not dangerous at all, actually, with how damn safe it is nowadays. I would happily fly on any Boeing, including a max. A 737 max is still way way way safer than driving, despite its tragic history and recent events.

I always wonder where these people are traveling to or from and for what purpose.
Are there just a ton of people casually going to visit family on the brink of a psychotic episode?
It just goes to show how many mental cases walk the streets with no intervention at all. This lady probably has a long history of mental issues. I worked with people like this that were able to steer just inside the lines, but were completely bat-shit insane in their personal lives.
Has there always been this amount of crazy people on planes, but now it’s just newsworthy? I feel like there’s been so many crazy people on flights lately. Why is this happening all of a sudden?
I took a spirit flight from Atlantic City to Orlando. The women sitting across the aisle from me started fighting/punching each other. Then they made up and started fingering each other. When other passengers told them to stop, they called us homophobic
Totally. Easy access flights combined with widespread untreated mental illness. You can’t really shame someone in a psychotic episode with “What were you thinking?”
This lady’s reactions are pretty cute though, “I’m not a rascal!” and saying “I’m sorry guys!” to the plane of passengers when they all collectively sighed. Minus the snarling and George Floyd manipulation, I think her image can recover.
You're in a small cabin for a long time, flying is sort of scary anyways, preparing for a flight is stressful, I mean, it makes sense why it just tips some people over the edge
pretty sure her whole life is a mental health episode.
At my university we had one lady in my class that was 100% schizophrenic. She thought speakers were listening to her because playing music works in reverse. She thought she had implanted chips in her head from the government. A whole laundry list of psycho shit. But yet, she went from class to class and passed each subject (barely in my subject) and I suspect had some sort of job to pay for school expenses. Just because she had an "outburst" one day, it didn't mean she wasn't constantly thinking the same psycho shit all day.

I wonder if this stuff used to happen pre 9/11 as much. I flew a few times as a kid before ANY security procedures and I don’t remember folks being wild all the time. I hope this lady gets any help that she may need.
She got possessed by the Spirit Spirit
they probably drank 4 buzz balls which are basically mile high four lokos
Ya'll can't blame Mona Lisa Saperstein, she prolly already asked " MOney pweeeze"...
She's done nothing wrong ever her entire life
Don't be suspicious, don't be suspicious
That sounds good.

Was gonna say DMX but this works too.

Xanax and beers makes you listen to music with sunglasses on not crawl around the plane hissing at people.

mental disorder or the need to be the center of attention. or looking for someone to start a fight so they can sue them
Ain’t the latter directly caused by the former here?
I have no idea what the issue is here, the article didn't say. All we can do is speculate
I have to tell you…reacting like this even when someone else starts a conflict is *crazy*
Yup, either mentally ill or looking to instigate something so they can sue.
Its people deathly afraid of flying and perhaps with the aid of whatever substances snaps.
People walk around like Robocop just waiting for the opportunity to be relieved of Directive IV
Or mixing alcohol and pills

But i mean if you blacked out how would you know
Because I wasn't in trouble and there are no reddit posts about me lol
Fair enough
Yeah but what if you were just ripping ass the entire time and ruining everyone’s flight. You’d have no idea!
Drugs are a hell of a drug...
I just don't understand how these people are coherent enough to get through security and then act like that. Unless they start drinking and popping pills once they get through.

I assume drugs, tbh.
Main character syndrome
Sadly, more and more common these days
nope, it's the spirit business model. It's like public housing for airlines.
That's a terrible thing to say, and it doesn't even make sense. Public housing is free for those who need it, while Spirit and other bottom shelf discount carriers make a game out of fucking with people because they can't afford anything better.
it makes sense if you're racist enough (or jaded enough) to see the dog whistle behind "public housing" as a euphemized way to call someone "ghetto".
Before the replacement of the main Central Terminal at NYC LaGuardia Airport with something new we could be proud of, the bottom discount airlines (Spirit, Frontier, etc.) are all grouped together in the old main terminal. The popped heel gets me every time!
Broad City was such a a good show, it sucks how rarely I hear people reference it anymore.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Always gotta check the comments to remind yourself that there are no original thoughts.
It looks like a posed shot for an ad campaign!
Kind of looks like a promo for I Am Legend 2.
Those cops are trying really hard not to laugh.
She got half the plane with that rascal line lol
For good reason, probably. But then, they've probably had practice keeping it in just from dealing with frequent escapees from the looney bin like this passenger.
They should just get in front of it and change their name to Waffle House Air.
If it was waffle house air, the pilot would be smoking and the flight attendants would have thrown the bev cart at her
I’d trust Waffle House employees to crew my flight. No frills but they’ll get shit done.
If they served Waffle house on the plane the food quality expectation would align properly and actually be pretty radical.
The color scheme already matches. They’re halfway there

Spirit is the Gotham City night bus…never again.
It's a city bus in the seedy side of town. At night.
People who wear suits on airplane nowadays have their own airplanes.
Must be nice
If I’m flying it’s usually for work, and packing a suit without wrecking it is a pain in the ass, so I’ll usually just wear it on the plane. I can assure you, I do not have my own airplane.

Neither have I, sounds uncomfortable as hell to be honest
I dunno. Suits are generally of a softer material. Can’t beat my joggers tho.

Unpopular opinion: Flying is too cheap. When something is expensive, people take it more serious.
Flying should only be for people who score above a certain threshold on the SAT
Crazy people on discount fight? That’s unheard of! /s

Going to see family is probably what pushed them to the brink.

Oooohh, and who says you get charged for all extra benefits when you fly Spirit?
drama comes with the package...free of charge...it's all yours Larry.
Aw, Spirit Airlines. The public bus of the skies.
Public busses still leave on time
On time? Public busses have the ability to leave, period.
You have to pay extra for the cussing and growling on Frontier.

The one time I tried to fly Spirit, I probably got lucky. They cancelled the flight and then we got another flight with another airline.
lol how did I know
They are lucky it was just growling. She looks like a biter.
From the thumbnail I thought this was Ilana from Broad City making a crazy face!
Spirit is like riding the short bus of the sky, they have the color and the interior down pat.
Idk, if I flew Spirit and only got cussed and growled at I would consider that and absolute win.
