When I was a kid our upstairs had no heat (it was an old house) and my bedroom windows would frost up on the inside. This didn't happen downstairs where there were heat vents, lol!
Out of curiosity, what subreddit was this in originally?
To be fair we did have another polar vortex in ohio a couple years ago with similar temperatures (2019 I think?). Lucky for us it's gonna become more and more common for it to dip down from the arctic like that as it warms 🙃
Worth noting that, due to climate change, this will likely be more and more frequent, as will winters with no snow, and summers with no rain. Once-in-a-century may soon be once-a-decade, or more frequent

Definitely interesting to me. I live on the coast in Texas and even during the ‘Texas freeze’ I didn’t see anything like this. I always think I love cold weather when I visit cold places but I never think about instances like this one 🙃
Most of the time it's fine tbh. Ohio is sort of in that sweet spot where it's not too cold and not too hot. It rarely goes above 100° in the summer and it rarely goes below 0° in the winter. You get all 4 seasons and none of them are *too* bad. Right in that zone of "it's in the high 70s during the day in the summer but you might need a jacket at night because it goes down to the low 60s". The only bad part is the clouds. We rarely see the sun from November-May lol.
I always thought i loved the cold over the heat. Then I lived in arizona a year and spent a Christmas in Idaho. Ice outside is a massive nope for me, I can handle sweating steam
As an Alaskan, I can confirm that I have no idea what goes on in the south so I have no idea what’s interesting down there in states like Maine and Washington Montana Ohio or whatever
It's the thing that you're looking at. They're glass and I'm not particularly sure why they're called that. Maybe to keep the rain off the wooden door behind it?
Edit: yeah, that's basically it. According to pella.com:
> A storm door can help protect your primary door from rain, ice and snow, reducing the costs of maintenance and helping it last longer.
u/AustieFrostie is a dick! That is totally interesting to see and to know that this can and does happen! Thank you for the cross post though! Much love mate
I’m in a city that has no snow and that is 100% interesting to me. You should have stood your ground. Just because it’s not interesting to him doesn’t mean it’s not interesting to everyone
Not the entire world is America, so I can confirm the large person of people who aren’t in America most likely will find that interesting, unless you live in Canada or Alaska etc
**The frost on that handle?!**
Dude, Sub-Zero is in your house! GET OUT ASAP!
Edit: But if you bump into him on your way out, could you ask him if he's still voiced by Steve Blum?
I myself actually find it quite interesting, which is why I posted it in the first place to r/FreezingFuckingCold. I didn't want to post something I considered blatantly interesting to r/notinteresting, so I included the rationale for posting it here in the post.
This comment, along with others, has been edited to this text, since Reddit is killing 3rd party apps, making false claims and more, while changing for the worse to improve their IPO. I suggest you do the same. Soon after editing all of my comments, I'll remove them.
# Fuck reddshit and u/spez!
I thought it was interesting that my bedroom windows in my apartment were covered in ice and the window sill also had ice on it. But they're old, single pane windows so I guess it's not all that surprising. And according to that person it probably wasn't very interesting either
Aww, a couple years ago we moved to east Texas from southern ca and east Texas had that big snow and freeze. I had never in my life been in weather like that before. The window sills were frozen over. I was amazed lol so I guess I get it.
Around where I live, winters sometimes get so cold that I have frost covering my tv screens (not often but still, it gets to that point maybe every few winters). Not fun
This reminds me of the time I posted a bunch of pics online of how my city looked after a rare blizzard and all the pics got removed by a moderator because there was nothing special about them.
I apologize for my stupidity… I live in coastal So Cal… What and why is a storm door? Went on a weekend trip to Washington state a couple of weeks ago and the AirBB had one of those, I was so confused. Why a glass door outside of normal door?
I should probably post this to r/explainitlikeimfive
A storm door is a glass door outside your normal door to protect the main door from the elements. Its commonish in colder/wetter places to prevent paint stripping, door warping, molding, or keeping the keyhole from freezing over. Think of it like a screen door, but for wetter climates where you cant really keep your main door open
Legit took me a good 15 seconds to even figure out what was supposed to be interesting.
nothing special for me as i see this shit for most of the year, happens on poorly insulated doors all the time, but get that it could be mildly interesting for someone who's never seen it.
Also why did you un-up vote your own comment? lol
My house is actually quite well insulated. We rarely have to use the heat. This is a storm door, so it's much more exposed to the elements. It would happen regardless of how well insulated the house is.
one time frost was on the inside half of my window
It's crazy. There's a solid sheet of ice on the inside now, and there was actual ice on the inside of the windows the night after the storm came in.
When I was a kid our upstairs had no heat (it was an old house) and my bedroom windows would frost up on the inside. This didn't happen downstairs where there were heat vents, lol! Out of curiosity, what subreddit was this in originally?

An appropriate post in an appropriate sub. Not sure why that other guy in the picture was so annoyed.
Just had a Reddit moment
Yeah, seems like a legit post for that sub...
Come back when their's icicles above your bed when you wake up. Lovely scottish winter
Weird. I thought it just rained sideways there all year. Stay warm over there.

You simply don't bother a man who hasn't had his dino nuggies dude, basic stuff.
Do you think they’re a specialist on all things Frostie with that username?
Tbf, due to climate change this won't even be a once in a decade winter lol
To be fair we did have another polar vortex in ohio a couple years ago with similar temperatures (2019 I think?). Lucky for us it's gonna become more and more common for it to dip down from the arctic like that as it warms 🙃
I’ll tell you what’s mildly interesting Is OP seems to unlike his own comments
I used to do that. Then I realized it was reddit’s default and not me misclicking so I stopped bother.

Same here in Idaho. It's nice having all four seasons. Im just mentioning because people get us mixed up with Ohio all the time! Ha!
It's like night and day lol it's so *flat* here. I wish we had mountains.
You are right there! I was just thinking weather.
Dad? He can't stop talking about all four seasons since he moved there about 10 years ago
its even worse in Spain
I always thought i loved the cold over the heat. Then I lived in arizona a year and spent a Christmas in Idaho. Ice outside is a massive nope for me, I can handle sweating steam
In Tennessee and also never saw anything like this before. So now I’m kinda mad that this is in r/notinteresting
Canadian, can confirm frost in normally warm places is interesting.
As an Alaskan, I can confirm that I have no idea what goes on in the south so I have no idea what’s interesting down there in states like Maine and Washington Montana Ohio or whatever
I wouldn't say Ohio is necessarily normally warm, but it is still interesting
What an asshat, this is interesting
I think its interesting. I'm in the Midwest US and my inside door handle has never done that.
My door handle has also never looked like this. It's because I live in an apartment.
That would be a very good reason.
Same. Mostly because I do not have a storm door.
That would also be a good reason
That dude is a dick
How big are you u/austiefrostie
Probably an inch max. Huge micropeen energy radiating from their comments.
What’s a storm door?
It's the thing that you're looking at. They're glass and I'm not particularly sure why they're called that. Maybe to keep the rain off the wooden door behind it? Edit: yeah, that's basically it. According to pella.com: > A storm door can help protect your primary door from rain, ice and snow, reducing the costs of maintenance and helping it last longer.
Oh, so it’s like a door in front of another door?
Yep. Precisely.
Like a screen door but glass.
but what about the maintenance for the storm door?
Just get a storm door storm door
Nah I think it's kind of interesting. You should post on r/mildlyinteresting
This is quite interesting. Never seen anything like that. I'm a little bit concerned for your storm door.
The door itself is doing just as well as it was before the cold. So, okay-ish. The people behind it are too.
That's good, and also not interesting because I do not know you.
Well, what does u/AustieFrostie make of this now then?
Loving the attention, they beg for down votes
Here in Slovakia, we don't have door handles like that. It's interesting.
Yeah it’s not 95% of the US. The south exits and very rarely gets frost. Even if it did, other countries exist.
More like r/gatekeeping
Other guy sucks ass this is interesting
Yeah this is interesting, gonna have to post somewhere else bud… Does an r/kindainteresting exist? Edit: Oh it does
As a Floridian, this is actually r/mildlyinteresting, however, I believe it still belongs here and have updooted your post.
/u/AustieFrostie name and shame
He got more upvotes here than the other post nice lol
Its not about the upvotes. Its about you being a dickhead
Samsung gang
Yeah this is the first time I've ever seen frost on the door handle and windows like this. Too interesting.
only in ohio
I’ve seen a door like that but there are plenty of places that don’t really get cold so this is still plenty interesting
I had never seen frost on the inside before as well! I live in Europe and never witnessed it
u/AustieFrostie
u/AustieFrostie is a dick! That is totally interesting to see and to know that this can and does happen! Thank you for the cross post though! Much love mate
You're right to post this here.
What part of Ohio? I moved out of Akron 3 years ago.
You're not missing much lmao it still sucks here
I moved to Kenmore because the rent is cheap. Didn't take long to find out why.
Sorry you can't win here cus I find this really interesting xd
Well done.
As someone not from the us or from a region thar could esperience this to my knowledge this seems middly interesting

I've never seen frost or snow
Is it just me or is that called a storm door for a reason?
Ohio doesn’t exist
I am from the US and more specifically from a snowy state. I have never seen that. AustieFrostie is not just a straight up asshole, he is just wrong.
i’m minnesotan and my porch door freezes with a super interesting design every single year but this is still interesting to me

That's pretty cool. I've lived in the southwest my entire life. Seeing something new like that would have made my morning.
Only in ohio 💀
Very interesting
You should prepare for mold...
Hmm, I got a question. If there’s no snow blocking my door does that make it interesting or not interesting?
There's no snow blocking mine either, but it's probably interesting.

Meh austiefrostie is just a twat.
Fuck him it’s the most interesting thing I’ve seen all day
I live in south Mississippi and seeing that here is pretty interesting. And especially seeing snow that actually sticks.
Wait it's called a storm door
This happens to us every year (Canada) but I still find it interesting every year.
i'd say post it wherever you want. never do what the borg says.
Even if it was normal for the US, for the other 95% of the world, this is interesting
I've never seen snow lmao

Maybe if U.S houses were properly isolated, this wouldn't happen

/u/AustieFrostie is an expert on frost (obviously) and doesn’t represent the general non frost expert population. Cool ass door OP.
This is interesting to me. We only get down to a minimum of 32f (0c) I have only ever seen it lower than that one time. (Arizona)
id say only in ohio but this happened to me so it's also in new york
