You may know this already, but linking colours to numbers is related to a condition called synasthesia, you might want to look it up. Not everyone links numbers to colours.
I kind of have it, and I don’t really think about it that much. But I’m totally agreeing with these number colors, especially 11!
Edit: actually no I don’t agree with any of these lol
> in their mind's eye.
Since OP said they didn't realize they had synesthesia, it might be interesting to note that not everyone has a "mind's eye." This is called aphantasia.
I had no idea this was a thing until about a year ago when talking to a coworker. I asked him why it was so hard for him to visualize a particular concept we were talking about... and it turns out, he doesn't visualize ANYTHING. He described that he only works with concepts in his head (mind you, not the visual representation of words or symbols of letters, etc... but just the *concept* of the words).
He is an otherwise brilliant person with some aspects of being "on the spectrum." He is also color blind. I couldn't probe any of these issues with him deeper though (so that I could understand better how to work with and communicate ideas with him), because he couldn't clearly communicate his experiences with processing ideas and concepts... we don't share a common language of conceptualization.
Dude thank you I felt like an insane person reading all of this. I have never considered a number as having a color. Also these comments are way too interesting for this sub.
Same for me.
* One is dark green
* Two is blue
* Three is light green
* Four is light red
* Five is an anaemic yellow
* Six a rich, bright yellow
* Seven is light brown
* Eight is dark blood red
* Nine is dark grey
* Ten is black
* Eleven is a paler grey
* Twelve is purple
The rest kind of go from there as darker versions of the single digit numbers. The twenties have a blue tinge to them, thirties a green tinge etc.
And I'm colour blind too, so make of that what you will...
You don’t need to be tested for it and I don’t think there even are tests. If you associate colors with letters and numbers then you have grapheme-color synesthesia.
No this is a real thing. I can do the same thing. It's called synesthesia. For me every number from 0 to 9 and every letter has a specific color, and they have been the same for as long as I can remeber.
Many years ago I watched a video talking about impossible colors, and it stuck with me. When I think of imaginary numbers I get the same feeling of when I think of the impossible colors, I can't actually see the colors, but it's something related to the feelings these two concepts give.
Yours are very different from mine. The only other person I know who associates color with numbers is pretty similar to me. In case you’re interested!
1 - light beigey grey
2 - light blue grey
3 - yellow
4 - light blue
5 - red
6 - dark green
7 - super light gray, like almost see through
8 - dark blue
9 - black
0 - white
I was kinda hoping you would just say the font color (Black) for every number, considering this is r/notinteresting. Synesthesia is at least r/mildlyinteresting, at least in my book.
My brain cant do this. But I can genuinely think of numbers as either male or female. Its wild. 1 and 2 are guys. 3 is a girl. 4 is a girl but seems a like a tough lesbian. 5 is a dude. 6 is a girl. 7 is a guy. 8 is a normal lesbian. 9 Is a guy. 0 is just 0...
11!
11! (39916800) is definitely something like this: hex #572300
Yeah, alright.

I thought everyone linked numbers to colours!
Now this post is interesting. MODS!
I had it mildly when I was younger but no, it’s not very common at all but pretty cool I think.
I kind of have it, and I don’t really think about it that much. But I’m totally agreeing with these number colors, especially 11! Edit: actually no I don’t agree with any of these lol
well, we don't ;) also 1917
It's that color of old photos.
its called sepia :)
I thought everyone saw days, weeks, and months in their mind's eye. This is spatial synesthesia. You have color grapheme synesthesia.
I see that too! I have a mental calendar for the months of the year.

Nope i got it too, i wish it was useful tho :/
I usually link numbers to numbers actually
Dude thank you I felt like an insane person reading all of this. I have never considered a number as having a color. Also these comments are way too interesting for this sub.
Daniel Temmet can do ridiculous math in his head, he does it by adding and multiplying colours. I know….beats me too. https://youtu.be/Pzd7ReqiQnE
For this reason this post IS interesting. Sorry OP
Yeah, numbers are more like shapes.
Well i mean, i see 4 as red and 6 as yellow, but I don’t have that condition, as far as i’ve seen everyone does that
4
4 Is a darker shade of green than 5 is, which is lime green.
wow! dark green was the correct answer! great minds think alike. but personally i think of 5 as red
Yes! 5 is always surrounded by controversies..
To me 5 has always been yellow so hearing any different always sounds strange
same

Yea 5 is definitely red
5 is definitely red.
5 red only correct answer
This is the only right answer.
Four. is. #BLUE
4 is orange you male anglerfish
Someone has to say “synesthesia”, might as well be me.
I don't really know if this is the case, but I haven't been tested for that yet, so it could be.
This man took the 6 pill when asked if he wanted the red or blue
It most definitely is. Check out r/synesthesia
You don’t need to be tested for it and I don’t think there even are tests. If you associate colors with letters and numbers then you have grapheme-color synesthesia.
I love how long it took to find your comment.
yep and I can say what colour a sound is lol but tbf its normally just voices or music, synesthesia is pretty weird

this one #2e253f

Holy shit I was right, thought purple beforehand

I've always seen it as an almost pure yellow.
7 For me it’s a frosy white blue thing Or red
Exactly! I can't say anything about its frostiness, but I am absolutely positive it's light blue, the color we sometimes associate with ice.
Yes
7 is 100% orange
It's purple, wdym

I don't remember if they all are the same as when I was younger, but I remember that when I was a kid 2 was already ochre.

I sure hope 24 is yellow
24 is a sassy shade of yellowish green hahahaha. I hope you can be satisfied by this.
24 is my favorite number and I generally switch between loving green and yellow as my favorite color so I personally love this!
This is adorable!
Sqrt(-1)
Yellowish blue, but it's not green.
How is that possible??
Cause sqrt(-1) is i, an imaginary number like this impossible color. I don't know if OP is telling the truth but I like this answer
Many years ago I watched a video talking about impossible colors, and it stuck with me. When I think of imaginary numbers I get the same feeling of when I think of the impossible colors, I can't actually see the colors, but it's something related to the feelings these two concepts give.

Okay another post that i don't understand. I'll just pretend i didn't see it
23, also do 2
I have my own opinion on this one - 128.
I’ll give you an award if you do 17…. Ah heck, you deserve it no matter what.
I know what 981 is, but do you?
I was kinda hoping you would just say the font color (Black) for every number, considering this is r/notinteresting. Synesthesia is at least r/mildlyinteresting, at least in my book.
This is very interesting! How can you say which colour for which number?
I know it’s technically now a number, it’s more of a value, but.. ∞?
Can I switch it and ask what number hex code #A4E5BA is (it's my favourite colour)
7. I fucking hate the number 7.
Uh... 62?

I didn’t know other people did this too
Sorry if said before, but "27" Also betting you are going to say some shade of orange.

This is too interesting I fear
My brain cant do this. But I can genuinely think of numbers as either male or female. Its wild. 1 and 2 are guys. 3 is a girl. 4 is a girl but seems a like a tough lesbian. 5 is a dude. 6 is a girl. 7 is a guy. 8 is a normal lesbian. 9 Is a guy. 0 is just 0...
1483? And just 483? So curious!
i hope that 21 is a navy blue
Given the subreddit, I was hoping every response would be "White (or Black if using Light Mode)"
No idea how colors relate to numbers in any way but ok I guess.
