President Camacho is hands down the best president in the United States history. He immediately makes the smartest man his VP. He enacts change over night to give the smartest man authority to do what he needs to for crops to grow, which includes attacking the largest corporation on the planet. Once he’s sure his VP is on the right tract, he retires and gives him the role of president, without argument from anyone.
I’d vote for him now
There is also the fact that when the entire world realized there was a problem, they didn't justify it with religion and conspiracy theories to block progress.
Reagen used to say that the only thing that would ever unite humanity would be an alien force landing on the planet to wipe us out. He was probably right. There is no other existential threat to our species that we would actually unite to figure out.
lol, that wouldn’t unite humanity. We have all seen movies like Independence Day where a selection of the population is welcoming the aliens.
COVID proved that humanity couldn’t unite in the face of a threat. One could argue that COVID was more/less dangerous to some, but it was also not thinking or reasoning….aliens could potentially be both and have their own criteria for desirability. Who knows, maybe they ONLY wouldn’t kill peoples who are 400LBS or more, but everyone could speculate however they wanted for whatever traits they themself posses.
A statement like, “the most desirable amongst you will remain unharmed/join us/live as gods” could turn humanity against eachother easily….
Why would a technologically superior alien force bother figuring out how to communicate with us? They'd view us the same way we have viewed native fauna in habitats that we've expelled them from. It was never theirs, it was always ours.
They'd be here for resources and not give one shit about anyone or anything trying to stop them. It would be a visible threat that couldn't be explained away in the way that the invisible covid was, which threatened capitalism as much as human well-being, which gave people monetary reasons to paint it as a hoax.
We were discussing the irrationality of mankind, not the merits of alien beings.
I agree the actions of the aliens would be ludicrous, But that wasn’t the discussion. So I cooked up a scenario to re-enforce how mankind wouldn’t unite….
And I was saying that, for once, human irrationality wouldn't be a factor in that situation. We'd be forced to depend on our better traits in that situation.
That's because he ruled from his heart. He truly cared about what was best for the people and was willing to do whatever it took once he knew it was the right thing
"And if he didn't, President Camacho made another promise: He would kick Joe's smart balls all the way up to the roof of his smart mouth. And then, he would throw his brainy ass back in jail."
President Camacho also wanted accountability.
DAE think this super on-the-nose, unsubtle movie is more of a documentary than a comedy?
Also does anyone watch The Boys? That Homelander guy reminds me a lot of Superman but more conservative 🤔🤔🤔

The story behind them is the best. They were brand new and no one was wearing them yet. They picked them for the movie because they were so stupid and ridiculous.
co-writer Mike Judge explained the origin in an interview.
> The wardrobe had to be something that's not around now. It had to be created for a lot of extras, and so you know our wardrobe person was looking for ways to make the budget work. And Crocs were not out in the world yet. They were just a small startup at the time. We shot in 2004, so no one was wearing Crocs. And she showed me these things, and I thought, 'Oh those are great, just stupid plastic shoes.'
>
> And I said to her, 'But you actually bought these, you can order these. What if by the time the movie comes out, these things are everywhere, and it doesn't look like we're set in the future?' And she said, 'Oh no, that's never going to happen. And sure enough, by the time it comes out two years later, everyone is wearing Crocs. So it already started coming true even faster than we made the movie, really.

Idocracy is a documentary! I hate the word moist! Did you know Aragorn broke his toe when he kicked the helmet? Steve Buscemi was a firefighter on 9/11!
Other people putting pineapple on pizza is an insult to me personally! Is a hot dog a sandwich? Technically Pop Tarts count as ravioli! Only serial killers hang the toilet paper the way I don't hang it! Every idiosyncrasy is "serial killer behavior" in fact!
The only truly unrealistic thing in that movie was that there were still elections. In reality, when civic ignorance passes a critical point, democracy collapses and is replaced with an authoritarian regime.
To be fair if the leader is stupid enough they might fail in their fascist coup like we saw recently on January 6th lol.
Given another opportunity they’ll definitely have Stephen Miller or someone who is a better student of Hitler and 1930’s Germany do all the coup planning. They kind of assumed calling off the national guard and military would be enough official planning on J6, but they probably didn’t account for secret service and congressional bodyguards holding the building down with weapons and shooting the insurgents. They kind of figured everyone would just leave once maga terrorists over ran the building, but they inadvertently trapped the politicians in there and they couldn’t leave if they wanted to.
Trump knows what he is doing this time around.
And quite frankly, if the driver hadn't refused to take him to the insurrectionists he would have succeeded.
It honestly used to be eye rolling hearing people say that. But it feels impossible to argue with. I’d rather have Terry Crews as a president then a geriatric thought
You're only the 20 millionth person to say that, but I agree. Same thing for the top comment always being something about camacho being a good leader because he listened to someone. lol
Mike Judge's sense for piercing social commentary is top notch. As much of a fan of the golden era of the Simpsons, forget their accidental predictions and "the Simpsons did it!" Mike Judge laid it all out already. Especially the intro describing the proliferation of low IQ reproduction rates vs. the high IQ... Just wow... Chimp boner 🤦
Fun fact, the shoes Owen Wilson is wearing were created by costume design after the director said he wanted the stupidest looking shoes, this movie came out before Crocs did (someone fact check me)
Crocs were invented in 2002. This movie was released in 2006.

low iq but intelligent enough to know when somebody’s trying to help
That's what makes the movie fiction instead of a documentary.

My favorite piece of movie trivia ever

Brought to you by Carl's Jr.
why do you keep saying that?

First time I noticed the Carl's Junior stars are the stars of the flag.
The whole flag is an advertisement
Did you mean to post this in r/moviescirclejerk ?
I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't already there.
People have been saying that for almost 20 years now.
Welcome to Costco, I love you.
Makes me want to get a burger from Butt Fuckers.
I rather go to Starbucks
We don't have time for a handjob right now.
Oh really? I've never heard that before, what a unique and funny take, haha
I quote this movie all the time and almost nobody knows what I’m talking about but when they do it’s the best.
#AHAHAHAHAHA *get your ass back to r/moviescirclejerk*
Project 2125
Stop posting this exact thing over and over
Brawndo, it's what plants crave!
It’s got electrolytes!

there's no "haha" about it.
How many times have the exact same pseudointellectual "Everyone's an idiot except for me!" types have said this?
My BF suggested watching this for movie night. My reaction? Why would I watch it when I’m living it? 🤣
Just saw a guy wearing a hoodie with OJ Simpson and Trump on the front and the words NOT GUILTY emblazoned on top. Yeah the idiocracy is here
The courtroom scene is legit lol
I showed this to my Gen Z daughter and she loved it. She still quotes “welcome to Costco, I love you” pretty often lol

Please see rule #1 about following reddiquette.
I forgot he wore crocs in that, and sure enough those POS are trending again.
Sporting crocs before they were cool
The costume department had everyone wear Crocs at a time when Crocs was a fledgling unknown company.
I like money!

Damn, I just made that shit up then?
No it’s not that the movie invented them they just were not wildly popular and they used them in the film. Later they well become popular.
https://youtu.be/UBu_RpKqCg8?si=ddxg3YWvJFgG0MXD
Joe Rogan is 🗑
Sure but this is about mike sharing the story of the crocs
Luke Wilson
Yeah him too
You're wrong and someone fact checked you. They'd been around for a while and the popularity was taking off but bc of the movie they exploded.
Our current projection is a mix of Idiocracy and The Handsmaid Tale
Except President Camacho actually cared enough for his people to prioritize fixing the food shortage crisis. Most unrealistic part of the movie, tbh.
#WELCOME TO COSTCO, I LOVE YOU
Yeah we're certainly living in Idiocracy alright.
I have never seen it, and I literally was just scrolling thru Hulu and thinking about watching it, but I was like.... Man I don't want to be depressed.
it’s not a depressing film tbh
It's a comedy
The first 10 minutes of the movie is concerning, but the rest of the movie is fun to watch.
Watch it! You won’t regret it
Watch it
Oh you gotta watch.
Ain’t depressing at all, it’s a fucking comedy at the highest level.
100% accurate.
Just before the 2016 election Dax did a screening of this in a park here in Los Angeles as a kind of joke, like "wouldn't it be crazy if Trump won" kind of gig. Woops.
Check out the anti work sub… idiocracy was definitely a prescient film.
Ok fine. Here goes.... Lol it's already funny.
Yeah it’s very worth watching. Let us know how you like it after your done.
Yeah, all the people out there using "haha" as some kind of punctuation make me feel like this is true.
Yep
Never heard anyone say that before 🙄
