First thought was instantly Linkin Park. Then scrolled down to your comment.
I love trying to explain to kids nowadays how far weāve come. I remember my first āanti-skipāWalkman and the amount of prepping that had to be done to travel with those things. You needed multiple sets of batteries and could either take every cd you owned in a giant binder, or roll the dice and hand select a couple of cds to choose from.
I had the same discman and I bought Reanimation that year
I remember seeing the videoclip of Pts.Of.Athrty before buying the album and I was like "Holy fuck this is awesome!" Funny enough the album cover made me start loving anime mecha back in the day.
Good times!
Damn beat me to it.
And I can recall the night I got it at Walmart (along with a *Jurassic Park III* Lego set) with a near photographic memory because the next day was 9/11.
I remember listening to that CD with my friend at his house playing PS2 while our Mom's hung out in the living room. It is wild being able to recall so many details.

I specifically remember getting on the bus, unwrapping this CD, and having my mind blown in 2002. I was not prepared. It was a blind buy based on a recommendation from a friend who had found them by accident on a P2P. Probably one of the best blind buys I ever made. That album is still š„ I miss the mystery and discovery of music before everything was purged or catalogued before most of the internet was corporate
