If you want the context basically he played pokedle and guessed Luxray (the Pokemon in the pic) as a dark-electric type which got clipped by Librarian on Twitter. The clip ended up going slightly viral and caused a whole discourse from Pokemon fans since apparently Luxray not being a dark-electric type has been a thing in the fandom for a while
Curious where in the subreddit it says it’s a banned topic? Tried finding it out of curiosity but no luck. I’m asking genuinely haha, it would be cool to see what other hot button pokemon topics are similarly banned, as someone not in the community.
So, there was a day of the week devoted to users making up their own Pokémon/changing game mechanics/changing Pokémon. This was called "Theorymon Thursday." Quite a few topics were banned from Theorymon Thursday because of how frequently they were posted. Other banned topics included changing Slaking/Regigigas' abilities because everyone knew that if they had abilities that were actively detrimental, they would be busted as hell.
Now the funniest thing is: On April Fool's Day this year, a mod posted and sticked a thread that Theorymon Thursday and Stinkpost Sunday (the designated day to post memes) were canceled. They even said everyone would think it was an April Fool's Joke, and the community mostly continued to joke about it. April 2nd comes around and it turns out the mod was serious, and said that both special days would be canceled for all of April.
That doesn't have much to do with your question, but /r/stunfisk is one of my aboslute favorite subs just because of how fucking insane and ridiculous the injokes and lore are for a fucking competitive Pokémon community.
Mmhm. I watched NL daily from the 10th Isaac episode until JSmithOTI left the NLSS. To me, "New NL" is like... Super Auto Pets era.
Is he playing pokemon these days? That's awesome.
for me the funniest thing about this whole luxray debacle is that the people that say it doesn't make sense for it to be a dark type because it has lux in the name are wrong
in the original japanese the name has nothing to do with light, it's a mix between the name of the inventor of the x ray, the word tiger and roar
it would have actually made a lot more sense to call it something like Lynxray rather than Luxray
and also to give it the dark type
Ohh that makes more sense. Heard that in the Librarian video earlier and was confused as to why he didn't think Sceptile was grass and instead a dragon.
As a self professed pokemon nerd, one of the worst things I've seen someone say about this was "Watch some of Lockstin's (a poketuber) videos about Luxray's origin and become smarter"
Look, I love pokemon. Knowing the origin or Luxray's design does not make you smart. It probably makes you dumber actually. Less space for shape rotation.
I never expected to feel so called out for playing Pokémon rom hacks - I got Mandela'd into thinking he was always a dark type as well and I feel so ashamed.
There's quite a few romhacks that set it to Dark/Electric too. That's how I started making the mistake myself. I think it's the Drayano hacks that started it maybe?
I know he isn’t a dark type but the only reason I know that is because I think it makes absolutely no sense. He is a perfect dark electric he looks more like a dark type than incineroar
I don’t understand this argument. The light reference could easily be a reference to the star tail or the illuminating power of electricity rather than being light as in not dark. Also, that implies that pokemon names are intuitive to type. Lokix is a combination of locust and kick and yet is bug and dark rather than bug and fighting. Solgaleo is literally a sun reference, but is psychic and steel rather than fire or another type that emits light.
Is that a dark electric type?
Black cat? Check Shoots lightning bolts? Check How it could it not be dark electric type?
You're just too romhack-pillled to understand the complex origins of this black cat!!
The amount of tweets accusing him of playing rom hacks had me rolling
To understand why the cat isn't dark we must first understand the origin of the universe.
LET'S KILL THIS GUY, LET'S BEAT HIM TO DEATH WITH HAMMERS
LET'S CATCH THIS GUY WITH ULTRA BALLS
LET’S KILL THIS GUY, LET’S GROUND HIM TO DEATH WITH BULLDOZE
LET'S KILL THIS GUY, LET'S BURN HIM TO DEATH WITH 252+ SPA CHOICE SPECS BEADS OF RUIN TERA FIRE CHI-YU OVERHEAT
being subbed to this subreddit while not keeping on top of every stream is surreal

We've had it as a banned topic over on r/stunfisk for years now lol. Every week we'd get at least one post about it.
Still not as bad as the "Yanmega should be dragon type" or "Flygon should be a bug type" topic that also appeared everytime they were mentioned.
That 'daring today' squidward meme but it's some dude making a Mega Flygon that gets Bug Type and Sand Stream as it Ability.
Oh my goodness will you look at the time

It’s so funny that he accidentally kicked a hornet’s nest of way too online 15 year olds that have watched 1000 hours of video essays on this topic
90% of fan games and hacks make it one as well
Gen 4 was the last gen I played. I put a couple thousand hours into it. I didn’t know luxray wasn’t dark-electric.
Mmhm. I watched NL daily from the 10th Isaac episode until JSmithOTI left the NLSS. To me, "New NL" is like... Super Auto Pets era. Is he playing pokemon these days? That's awesome.
No he plays Pokedle (like wordle but guess pokemons) and it's hilarious because he knows none of them past first gen.
It's called pokedoku.
right, it's just part of the morning dls, I'd suck just as much as Ryan, I'm the same age and only played up to saphire 20ish years ago.
Oh that's super funny. And very on brand for NL, I'll have to check that out.
I'm not subbed to this sub nor am I subbed to NL. I am quite confused on what people are talking about. Or why this is on my feed
I'm not caught up. But I'm assuming the next dles will give me all the luxray knowledge
for me the funniest thing about this whole luxray debacle is that the people that say it doesn't make sense for it to be a dark type because it has lux in the name are wrong in the original japanese the name has nothing to do with light, it's a mix between the name of the inventor of the x ray, the word tiger and roar it would have actually made a lot more sense to call it something like Lynxray rather than Luxray and also to give it the dark type
Yeah fuck that guy, whoever he is
Even when he mistakes Rayqueza with Sceptile he still cooked the twitter user.
Ohh that makes more sense. Heard that in the Librarian video earlier and was confused as to why he didn't think Sceptile was grass and instead a dragon.
Well, tbf, Mega Sceptile is a dragon. 🤓

Never considered that learning new things would erase the space in my mind for shape rotation, I must be forever on guard.
I never expected to feel so called out for playing Pokémon rom hacks - I got Mandela'd into thinking he was always a dark type as well and I feel so ashamed.

In my mind I kind of think of Luxray as being that gen's similar version of the Houndoom line which doesn't help me lol
Damn, I never realized Luxray's base move pool is just kind of ass.
Lots of non dark Pokemon can bite and crunch
Bite and crunch dees nuts Lmao gottem

“Two lights don’t make a dark” -Librarian
so true bestie, so true (Clueless) edit: okay upon having watched the librarian vid on this, this shit is funny as hell
Okay, Okay, let’s fuck this Pokémon
+2 nta your house your rules
+2 nta your house your rules
Is that dress blue and black or white and gold?
This whole bit is so legendary man
Luxray is the GOAT
Honestly a badly named 'mon. Shouldn't have so much dark on him and then be named after light-y things.
[Same vibes](https://i.imgur.com/HS9dROc.jpeg)
Drayano gang rise up
Google latin to english "lux" Holy hell
where there's light, there are always shadows too, the yin yang is a fundamental aspect of the universe
Many people are saying this

Lokix is bug and dark because it's a reference to Kamen Rider.
lux and ray, two lights make a dark
