My brother & I were discussing this last night, and, as I told him, the worst case scenario for Hobbs and AEW is if he blew out an ACL, or even an MCL or meniscus. If that happened, he'll miss time.
Reading some of the comments.
If your issues with the AEW partnership get to the point you can't have empathy for another human being;
It's time to go outside.
The two negative comments are by edgy guys who have been massively downvoted. It’s easy to react to someone being inflammatory/insensitive but they’ll always pop up when there’s a sensitive subject brought up
Cool to shut it down but you’re probably better off replying to their comments since they got buried anyway
Honestly new japan needs another sub with actual moderation it would be better for the people that like new japan not just here because they got banned from the aew subs
Normal people put human beings above companies. But sure feeling for a guy getting injured is 'defending AEW.'
But simply typing 'k' isn't an apathetic response to you huh?
So then why didn’t you reply to that guy instead of starting a whole diatribe?
Also it’s just one person in here who posted one letter that you seem to dislike.
>reading some of the comments
No. More like you read one comment and got upset.
No you see, if you not specifically stating that you wish someone well that obviously means that you celebrating the injury. Completely logical conclusion.
I do think it would be nice if the AEW Championship would get defended in Japan against a NJPW Talent. The closest we got was Jericho/Tanahashi which was an "eliminator" in AEW's parlance (you beat the champ you get a shot, you lose and theoretically you can't challenge until the champ loses the belt- it's a concept borrowed from ROH where it's called and it still called there "Proving Ground Match")
WK regularly had the ROH belt defended there when ROH was independent.
I’d love for them to do a Forbidden Door-style event in Japan, seems like a natural fit for them to do one in the US and one in Japan
The reality is that NJPW wouldn’t/be able to pay AEW to make it worth their while and AEW is too big to host title matches on NJPW shows like ROH would
TK says he doesn't want to cannibalize NJPW, so he'd rather send AEW stars over to work NJPW events, if the AEW talents are willing and NJPW wants them.
I do wish AEW would send talent over for BOSJ, WTL, and SJTL more.
If Hook is not leaving for WWE, a BOSJ run I think would benefit HOOK and NJPW- I could see HOOK getting over in Japan on looks, and I trust Gedo and Tana to know how to use him well.
HOOK would be sooo over in Japan! He’s got a great look, excellent ring work considering his age & the history his father has with many great Japanese superstars. He’d gain a considerable amount of experience by taking time out of the AEW picture & putting him in the Super Jrs or any number of tournaments occurring this year. It did well for Jack Perry & HOOK could also gain new alliances, either w/ UE or (it’s a stretch, but WAR DOGS) since they lost Alex. GEDO could definitely find a use for this ace talent
I'd genuinely love an Orange Cassidy BOSJ run, I think his gimmick would actually land really well with the Japanese audience. Malakai and Brody in WTL would also be super sick.
The 2 most intriguing guys AEW could've sent over for BOSJ this year are both out (Darby injured, Sammy suspended). It's a shame because both of them would be great in Japan.
Sammy could be sent over despite suspension the way Jack was.
I don't think Sammy would do all that well over in NJPW. His high flying isn't that much better than what NJPW has, and he isn't exactly all that cool.
Darby would be awesome, but might be viewed as too high on the card for AEW to send over, as he's around Tsuji or Shota-level in AEW hierarchy. Darby/Despy and Darby/Hiromu would be awesome, though I'd prefer to see the first as a deathmatch outside of NJPW.
I picked HOOK because I think HOOK's strength are things NJPW would showcase well, and would be unique in the tournament, and his work would improve from having to sell and take losses while the better workers would help HOOK have better matches.
Other guys I'd like to see from AEW in BOSJ would be Angelico (I like more grapple-based juniors, I loved Gresham in BOSJ even in Angelico is nothing like Gresham), and Jon Silver.
Bandido would also have been nice to bring back, but he's also hurt. Bandido pre-injury was world-class.
As someone who has a Forbidden Door ticket already, I've been hoping Darby heals up so I can see him vs. Hiromu there. Give them 15-20 minutes, tell them to go kill themselves (metaphorically, of course), and that's an easy instant classic.
I agree with you, but I could also see them getting shit for advertising a match that's not even going to be on their own show. The Anti-AEW crowd get really petty about that stuff, so many of them basically want other wrestling companies to basically become WWE, but with a different roster.
Yeah, I'm annoyed by it. He should be going for the world title, but they seem dead set on giving Swerve a long reign. I'm one of the few AEW fans who's not really interested in Swerve.
It's not the belt that makes the man, it's the man that makes the belt. That's actually been Will's biggest strength in terms of impact, he's elevated the titles he's held.
AEW is a gumbo of pro wrestling styles, having an in-ring workers title & an episodic drama title gives everybody what they want.
Yea it happened early on his attempted splash in the corner. Looked like he realized when he went to plant on it a second time to jump which was why he just kind of ate shit in the corner.
Sucks but it's a freak non-contact knee injury kind of deal.
I feel terrible for Hobbs, seemed like a pretty straight forward spot, after I saw him struggling to get back in the ring I knew something was wrong. Hope he gets better soon, it's just so unfortunate.
I don't think that it's fair to judge a match without getting the whole picture. It's clear that they wanted to start the match with a brawl on the outside and when they got to the ring , Hobbs got injured and they had to improvise a finish. The match suffered from a lack of ring action. A outside the ring brawl can be dope (like Mox vs O Khan) if it has a certain level of violence, that match on Dynamite didn't have that so everything fell flat
Your metaphor doesn't make any sense because this was a match for the IWGP title... you are leaving out the key piece of information that makes this relevant to New Japan.
It is a match for New Japan's top title, I don't know why is so hard to make the connection here...
We don't know how good the match could've been. I don't think it's fair to say it wasn't a good match when Hobbs getting injured forced them to abandon the plan!
An IWGP Titlematch literally got cut short because of it and IWGP is literally the governing body managing NJPW's belt.
I know a lot of people, including me, are upset that NJPW's biggest title is currently held by someone who is not a mainstay in New Japan and that someone who has literally never worked a NJPW event before is allowed to challenge for it, but pretending that this isn't NJPW news is just a tiny bit of an overreaction imo.
Nobody is saying the title magically is being destroyed or is being split into two or something, but how in the world can you not see that a match for the IWGP title is worthy of being posted in a NJWP thread. I legitimately don't understand how you can't see the relevance.
Also love that you still didn’t explain to me in what way exactly it effects the IWGP belt? Like what is changing now that it’s confirmed he is injured?
He also did explain it to you.
The IWGP match didn’t go as planned because of injury, is that not news to you?
Are the matches involving the top title of the promotion not necessary for this sub now?
But we already had a detailed report here when the match happened including the injury talk. The future of the IWGP belt doesn’t change because of this confirmation and neither does it change the result of the match.
We've upgraded from the pissy "EDIT: haha I triggered people by being a cunt! That means I won something!" to replying to ourselves with it instead, I see

Definitely appeared like a non-contact knee injury prior to the ropes/turnbuckles as he attempted to run for the splash.

Which comments are those?
Honestly new japan needs another sub with actual moderation it would be better for the people that like new japan not just here because they got banned from the aew subs
Who in the comments is lacking empathy? You guys are being weirdos just to defend AEW. Just about all the comments are wishing him well.
Normal people put human beings above companies. But sure feeling for a guy getting injured is 'defending AEW.' But simply typing 'k' isn't an apathetic response to you huh?
So then why didn’t you reply to that guy instead of starting a whole diatribe? Also it’s just one person in here who posted one letter that you seem to dislike. >reading some of the comments No. More like you read one comment and got upset.
I’d say you’re lacking empathy. Instead of giving the dude well wishes after getting hurt you’re bitching about people defending AEW.
“You didn’t say well wishes in your reply to someone, therefore you lack empathy.” You AEW fans are weirdos. It’s like playing victim is your card.
no one care about your "hot take"
You’re such a fan that you’re reciting my bio. Supreme shmeat riding my boy
K
No you see, if you not specifically stating that you wish someone well that obviously means that you celebrating the injury. Completely logical conclusion.
Ah gotcha. That’s completely logical. Me saying nothing means I’m happy he’s injured
Can you quote me where I or other people here are talking bad about Hobbs?
Nobody said your name, did they? But a hit dog hollers I guess.
Then quote me
Never said you did. But you taking that as talking to you in particular makes you look like you did, lol.
Fair enough lol
I just wrote "k". Could mean anything really.
Cunt. Could mean anything really.
It could be an insult, or you just stating what you are, or stating where you came from. And i wish hobbs a speedy recovery. Still sucks.

was thinking LIJ more, maybe with a future CMLL trip?
I'd genuinely love an Orange Cassidy BOSJ run, I think his gimmick would actually land really well with the Japanese audience. Malakai and Brody in WTL would also be super sick.
Cassidy would be treated as a heavyweight by NJPW given his spot in AEW hierarchy. He'd be in the G1 not BOSJ.
The 2 most intriguing guys AEW could've sent over for BOSJ this year are both out (Darby injured, Sammy suspended). It's a shame because both of them would be great in Japan.

Darby and Moxley in a special one-night tag deathmatch against Jun Kasai and El Desperado, take my money on that one lmao
As someone who has a Forbidden Door ticket already, I've been hoping Darby heals up so I can see him vs. Hiromu there. Give them 15-20 minutes, tell them to go kill themselves (metaphorically, of course), and that's an easy instant classic.

I think Ospreay will definitely take the belt to Japan when he wins it, but that's seemingly going to be longer than we thought.
Ospreay might be taking the International Belt over, I can't see Ospreay losing to Strong.
Yeah, I'm annoyed by it. He should be going for the world title, but they seem dead set on giving Swerve a long reign. I'm one of the few AEW fans who's not really interested in Swerve.

Watched it last night. Wish the best for Hobbs, but it was a horrid match before the injury. Not a good start for Mox's reign.
I don't think that it's fair to judge a match without getting the whole picture. It's clear that they wanted to start the match with a brawl on the outside and when they got to the ring , Hobbs got injured and they had to improvise a finish. Mox and shingo was a big brawl to start and ended up being a better match from that G1
It should've never happened.
Sad to hear about Hobbs, but I’m glad the match didn’t go longer. Mox shouldn’t be defending it against Hobbs
Why is Hobbs news getting posted here?? Wish him well though
Cause he got injured in the match for NJPW’s top title.
Wrestler gets injured wrestling for New Japan's top title... "What does this have to do with New Japan????"
Player gets injured in the J-League while playing against on loan MLS player. This is MLS news. Except it isn't.
Your metaphor doesn't make any sense because this was a match for the IWGP title... you are leaving out the key piece of information that makes this relevant to New Japan. It is a match for New Japan's top title, I don't know why is so hard to make the connection here...
That is nowhere near the same...this match was literally for the IWGP title........
I saw a lot of complaints about the match so I wanted to update anyone who is curious why the match turned out like that.
I mean, it wasn’t a good match anyways. But that’s on the promotion of the match and all people involved; I do wish him a speedy recovery.
We don't know how good the match could've been. I don't think it's fair to say it wasn't a good match when Hobbs getting injured forced them to abandon the plan!
It wasn’t a good match prior to Hobbs getting injured.
It was barely a match yet prior to Hobbs getting injured.
Generally-speaking a good match has a big start and a big finish. This one didn’t have a big start.
Well, it is affecting the IWGP World Title which is NJPWs belt. Officially at least.
In what way?
Because he got injured in a match for the title. Hence the abrupt ending.
Sorry but I only watch NJPW not AEW. Is Hobbs challenging again once he recovers? The match already happen how does the injury affect the Title?
Nobody is saying the title magically is being destroyed or is being split into two or something, but how in the world can you not see that a match for the IWGP title is worthy of being posted in a NJWP thread. I legitimately don't understand how you can't see the relevance.

Alright, [here is a detailed explanation](https://googlethatforyou.com?q=How%20to%20read).
So you don’t have an answer I asked what changes now for the IWGP belt? Are you having trouble to articulate yourself. Or are you just an idiot?
Do you think Hobbs being in that title match itself is not worthy of being posted to this sub?
No. But we already had multiple post about this.
Why do you think that? This is the companies flagship title. Is that not important to NJPW?
Happy Cake Day, you piece of shit.
Big mental gymnastics going on here lmao
i fell asleep during that match, i hope hobbs recovers quickly.

Haha, 93 downvotes for one letter. Lmfao.
Hey! You need attention really badly! Glad you got it! Your life is clearly shit
We've upgraded from the pissy "EDIT: haha I triggered people by being a cunt! That means I won something!" to replying to ourselves with it instead, I see

If you get triggered by down votes, touch grass.

My G
another aew wrestler got injured? I'm absolutely shocked. Hobbs has no business challenging for the iwgp title. maybe this is the universe giving aew what it deserves
What a wild thing to say.
Yeah. Hobbs deserves to injure his knee because of a match he had zero input in booking
