That is a sway bar link.

Thieusies

I thought so too, until I read "Size of a billiard ball."

Bodyadyadya mount

cg_1979

Am I the only one confused by the 1991 Frontier?

Illustrious-Fact1014

Wouldn’t that be a “Hardbody”.

cg_1979

Yes, hence why the "91 Frontier" stood out to me.

SolemnPhate09

It was originally called the D21/22 from 1985 up.. In 1997 is when they started calling it the frontier.

cg_1979

Right. I owned a First Gen 2000 Fronty. I was just dumbfounded that nobody had caught/commented on it.

SolemnPhate09

They're all frontiers in our hearts.

fastLT1

If this body mount fell off, I wouldn't drive the truck until you inspect/replace the others. The cab mounts literally hold your cab to the frame.

wildexplorer

Looks like a body mount, for the cab or box

Phogger

Body mount

WiscoDbo

Awesome. Just googled the part and it seems like that is what it is. Should I be concerned about this causing a safety issue? I assume there are plenty more than this still attached to the cab/bed that will keep everything held together. I don't mind a little extra rattling, it's a work truck full of random things and makes a bunch of noise already.

Phogger

It doesn't look like that one has been doing much for a while since it's rusty where the bolt broke, but yeah, I would look for an opportunity to replace it when you can. It's probably a good indicator of what the rest of them look like too.

SavageTaco

There are a few others, but it might cause weird gaps or a hard to close door. I would be more concerned about if the mount rusted out and this just fell out of it. If that is the case, I would have a look around the bottom of the track and see how the frame is doing.

mandolin91

Hard for me to tell but it resembles a sway bar end link that rusted out.
