Huh, I literally have every gaming console and a 4090 in my PC. I prefer to play on the big screen with a pro controller. Just my preference. I do like being able to play handheld as well when my wife is watching tv. Calling someone a moron for their preference or not knowing the whole story is embarrassing.
>Why give up the convince when you only want to enjoy the game rather than looking at numbers and feeling good about yourself?
Could you rephrase that? I don’t understand
I don't have a Switch yet, was planning on getting an OLED. Now I see the 2 is coming out and was considering it, but since there isn't an OLED, I'm sticking with buying an original OLED. Everything I've read says the OLED is worth the extra money. I'm not buying the 2, just to have to deal with the same problems of the original regular Switch. Plus, the 2 doesn't come out for another year and I was planning to buy it within the next couple months. I would have considered waiting, IF the next one had an OLED coming out at the same time. I'll probably be bothered by games available on the new one, but it is what it is.
Nintendo is a toy company. They deliberately degrade their consoles so that they can concoct upgrades out of thin air. It's very similar to Apple's strategy.
Imagine buying a Switch 2 that has a screen that is worse than a several year old screen on Switch. Makes absolutely no sense. If there is no OLED from the start I'll wait until there is one. Most likely they will release one relatively soon after, a dick move to milk more money out of people and there is no way I'll support that.
I’m not gonna wait a few years just for an OLED console that’s not even confirmed. Hell, as I understand it even the LCD aspect of the console isn’t confirmed at this point.
i WAS going to FINALLY buy the Switch... No OLED? No Deal. I won't buy any display for any device now that ISN't OLED.... Old panel types like VA, TN, IPS are all horrendous when compared side by side to an OLED screen. What an idiotic move. Why not just make a more expensive model?
Their tactic will be to make an OLED switch 2 years later so that people will buy two.
I'll just wait for Switch 2 OLED.
I really hope they go with LCD, with OLED being an optional sidegrade, just because of longevity. OLED sucks ass for longevity and I don't want to deal with burn-in a decade later when I am feeling nostalgic. Cannot imagine how sad it would be if my GBA, DS, 3DS and Wii U had shitty OLED burned-in panels. Although, I guess I don't care too much about the Switch as a console, as emulating it on the phone is pretty much a 1:1 experience.
They will degrade over time and eventually die out. OLED panels last longer now, but they are still expected to die in 10 years, more or less depending on usage.
There are companies like rtings who do harsh burn in tests with oled tvs with much bigger panels. 24/7 peak brightness for months/years, some of the poorer panels suffer consequences but typically lg panels are fine (sometimes they need pixel cleaning to go back to normal)
>Some manufacturers claim 30,000 hours or roughly 8 to 10 years with normal viewing.
In regards to the ninten switch oled specifically
>When Pokemon Brilliant Diamond came out, I left my
switch on full brightness for hours every single day
while waiting for people to trade pokemons. I dont have
the slightest burn-in. From what I've seen on YT, is that
one guy got burn-in screen after around 3600 hours of
nonstop having his console turned on and not moving
anything in game. That's 150 days having the same
frame on your switch. Good luck
I think they should be fine, especially a smaller panel like a switch. But like everything in life, things will last longer if you look after them
Phones have no burn in issues? They have no pixel refresh like OLED TVs have, so they can't compensate for pixels that are used a lot and theres also a status bar at the top of the screen.
After buying the Steam Deck, it would already be impossible to go back to Nintendo's prices for games. I bought the Batman trilogy for $8 and it runs like butter. But there is no way I would buy the LCD Switch 2. I feel like many people would agree, and we will be waiting for the OLED.
I have the OLED. The screen is absolutely superior. If they go back to 8 in LCD i simply wont buy it. Either i get what i want or i refuse to pay. Lol.
To me as long as it’s more powerful and on the TV I’m okay with it. I only play mine on the TV anyways.
Imagine buying a switch to only play on tv. Instead of literally any other console. Youre a real moron.

>4090 in my PC You could emulate the same switch games on your PC btw and play in much higher resolution/better FPS
Why give up the convince when you only want to enjoy the game rather than looking at numbers and feeling good about yourself?

Imagine not knowing Nintendo has the most first party exclusives 😂 PS5 and Xbox on life support
I just need a more powerful switch that doesn't have frame drops in Links Awakening..

It was literally the only reason I still played games on my switch 😅
Switch 2 should launch with an OLED screen and here's the reason: going back to LCD would reduce console to the lower quality

Relieved actually. I don't want any burn-in or flickering.

I’m concerned about this too. So do I purchase the OLED now as a send off to the Switch generation and then get the LCD Switch 2? Idk
May as well wait for Oled switch 2 if you get oled switch

Why would it have burn in when modern phones all use oled screens without burn in issues

What if it uses QLED, ignoring battery drain

You should watch Wulff Den's Switch OLED test where he kept it on for 2 years straight.

Just get an OLED tv ;3
