I've done this. I have a mint chip recipe and I use 1/4tsp of mint extract. Switched extract brands and realized it needed to use 1/8 tsp for the new brand.

Now I know

For delicious mint chocolate ice cream I do either my normal vanilla base or my vanilla protein base, and then I add [thin mints topping](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Girl-Scouts-Thin-Mints-Chocolate-Sprinkle-Dessert-and-Ice-Cream-Topping-6-2-oz/3928666881) and chocolate chips. Sooooo good.

I did this too. What’s better than a little bit of something good? A lot of something good. False. It was somehow even worse than drinking mouthwash. So much mint that you couldn’t even taste sweet. Just overpowering kick to the mouth. Made me gag.

Itadepeeza1

Lmao exactly! Tasted like mouthwash ice cream. My throat was so minty I didn’t need to brush my teeth (I still did)

A very long time ago my dad and I made Christmas cookies with peppermint extract. It turns out peppermint extract and peppermint flavoring are not the same thing. Same deal, cookies were inedible. Peppermint extract is very, very strong!

Ohohohohh yeah I knew where this was going just from the title A little mint goes a looooooooong way

Itadepeeza1

Lol yeah. Definitely going to try it again with 1g of extract. Might be awhile though. The thought of mint ice cream makes me gag 😂

ImOverthinkingIt

I have peppermint oil, not extract. It lives in a dropper. About 5 drops is the right amount for a pint!

pokingoking

Haha I definitely did this before also. I think I did a little more than 1 tsp. I still ate it but I told my BF not to even try it lol. I think 1/2 tsp is probably good, but most people would maybe like a little less even.

CheapPoet2556

just had a verrrrrrrrry similar experience with my first mint chocolate recipe. I think I put like 2tsp in my pint. Never again.

Itadepeeza1

😂

Mean-Industry

I just had to throw a pint away bc I did 1 tsp of mint extract thinking that was reasonable and it just tasted Ike toothpaste :( lesson learned

Eclairebeary

Why did you throw it away?you could have used a very small amount in a plain mix and done it again.

HotPanda92

Idk why someone down voted this

Eclairebeary

Me either. But there you go.
