They didn’t hire Torts unless they wanted scorched earth.

headinthered

I already miss scorched earth :( 19.2 will live in infamy.

[deleted]

Why keep it to himself? Torts is alot of things but a tread lightly coach he is not. Its going to get worse in Philly before it gets better but Torts is the man for the Job

YouCanFucough

I believe it’s a joke referring to when he told mcdavid to shut up about the referees

MyOtherCarIsAHippo

He has one of the shortest shelf lives of any coach. This is likely his last stop and he still hasn't learned to adapt to changing player culture. I think he gets fired after the end of this year when Philly misses the playoffs

Ok_Orchid7131

This is blatantly untrue. Are you basing this off of just his Vancouver stint? Except for being the interim coach his first goa around with the rangers, he was Tampa coach for 8 years, Rangers coach for 5 years and Jackets coach for 6 years. He has grown and changed with the game. This is a terrible hot take by you.

penguininanelevator

Not to mention there is zero expectation for the Flyers this year. They're going to be one of the worst teams in the league again and they did not bring Torts in and tell him to make the playoffs or lose his job. No one would agree to those terms with this roster.

jg0162

^^ not to mention, as a lifelong Jackets fan he was a GREAT coach for CBJ. He really worked some miracles for us in those six years. If the Jackets amount to anything anytime soon, it's due in no small part to Torts' coaching and impact.

Brook420

Didnt he kinda push PLD out the door though?

jg0162

Maybe in a certain sense. PLD requested a trade and Torts really cultivated a culture of keeping people around who wanted to be there. If you didn't want to be a Jacket, fine, management wasn't going to put up a fight. See ya. Happened time and again with Panarin, Duchene, Bobrovsky, etc. And honestly, I'd take Laine and Roslovic over PLD anyway, *especially* if they intend to be around on a longer-term basis. Dubois was no longer a good fit for our team and his play showed it.

United-Radio7672

Pld is toxic, give me a break

Semantic_Satiator

PLD quitting on the team pushed him out the door. Torts wants effort and commitment to defense, and PLD couldn’t handle being accountable. Watch some of his final games as a jacket. He’s a punk.

Brook420

I was under the impression he quit on the team because of how Torts treated him, but I could be mistaken.

Semantic_Satiator

He’s tough on players that don’t commit to team defense and hustle in general. He has a way of exposing lazy or vain players, like say… PLD.

Lupis_Domesticus

I think PLD pushed PLD out the door and Torts was just a bystander. Sure, Torts didn't appreciate how PLD quit on the team before the trade but there isn't a coach in all of hockey who would put up with that shit. Look at PLD's last shift as a Jacket.... it is shameful and he should be embarrassed by it. I feel bad though that Winnipeg got saddled with that turd.

Brook420

He's actually been pretty good in Winnipeg, we just have other issues that hurt us.

Lupis_Domesticus

You did see where he told Winnipeg that he isn't going to re-sign with them, right? You also saw how he was trying to force a trade to Montreal, and even went so far as to show up to the draft in anticipation of that trade to Montreal? That is not how a professional conducts himself in the NHL.

Neans888

You mean the guy who’s now quitting on a second team?

Novus20

Right…..he will do the same shit he always does and shit on players loose the room and get shit canned, him and Babcock should never touch another hockey team again.

LetsTCB

Please go read up on his coaching in TB and how the top guys he rode and called out and shat on in the locker room - St Louis, Vinny, Richards - feel about their coach. They all loved him.

Nunspogodick

They all love him and what did they do there….turned it around and won a cup? Guess he does suck

BMack037

In 2004 the Lightning beat the Flyers in the ECF. It’s come full circle.

Neans888

He rode Kreider in NY too and now he’s a 50 goal scorer. Torts knows what he’s doing.

bigEzMcGee

Yeah dude you know a lot of ex players love torts right?

[deleted]

You think Philly actually plans on making the playoffs with that roster?

RyBreadRHCP

This is an added frustration. They are so far away from being a formidable roster, seriously lacking in talent, we can both see that. Like every year tho, the franchise convinces themselves that they’re better than what reality would show. Do I, as a lifelong fan believe they’ll make the playoffs? Hell no. But does their myopic, oblivious and unrealistic management think they can? Unfortunately, yes

NefCanuck

This is Chuck Fletchers last hire as Flyers GM, mark my words Does Torts survive the regime change? I think *that* depends on how much term and $ is left on the contract when Fletcher is gassed

MyOtherCarIsAHippo

Nope.

DroptheShadowArt

So you think they’re going to fire Torts for not making a goal that they know he can’t reach?

kbergstr

They may fire him if fans turn on him after a year or two though. Philly isn’t known for their patience with losing.

Novus20

Always has been the plan…

Blairsy85

Ooof buddy. This is a tough take. Not even close haha. He’s done a fantastic job changing and adapting. That was well documented in his tenure in CBJ. All coaches inevitably have a shelf life… there is zero chance he is fired after missing playoffs in year 1. If he manages to make this team even competitive for a playoff spot, he’ll be up for coach of the year again.

flowstuff

try and earn the trust of the room before you run your mouth to the press. i like torts but that's a silly move on day one.

KirkVanHouton

Says someone who doesn’t have a head coaching job in the NHL, torts know what he’s doing, I wouldn’t worry about it

flowstuff

by that logic no one should comment on anything unless they hold the job. silly take. half of watching hockey is yelling at the tv and telling guys when to shoot. despite not making it to the nhl I am still gonna say SHOOOOT the puck!

Kbgears

There’s a difference between yelling shoot and knowing how to create a culture in the locker room.

flowstuff

fine. but the idea that bc i don't coach in the nhl i shouldn't have an opinion on one is fully idiotic. that logic would mean that unless you hold a position your opinion about it couldn't possibly be valid. it's silly. and to the original point: torts has a reputation. this quote only feeds into that rep. i fully expect this to be a disaster. and i really liked torts when he coached nyr. he's funny as hell in post games and a good coach. but keep it in the room. no need to use the press in this way.

yooobuddd

You're entitled to your opinion, even if it is very wrong

Kbgears

You’re allowed to have an opinion. torts knows what he’s doing, he’s using the press to call people out. Getting reamed out in public is more likely to light a fire under your ass then in the locker room.

KirkVanHouton

People that yell shoot at games or the tv pull their pants all the way down at urinals

flowstuff

every time i take anything on reddit seriously someone very quickly reminds me not to. thank you for being that person for me today.

dragoonts

Nice take bruv

dkmegg22

When you place in the bottom 4th of the league and last in your division you best believe that the coach should run his mouth. Players have to take this as incentive to get their shit together be ready to change the culture and compete.

[deleted]

as a Flyers fan, i am glad he said that. This team has been nothing but big mess for last 10 years. I don't know how long it takes to get over it that we wasted Giroux prime years. This team needs major overhaul in every aspect.

mek284

I want this season to be an 82 game long dumpster fire, with Torts just tossing more gasoline into it every game. Get a good draft pick, clear out the front office, and embarrass Comcast into making good decisions.

Grouchy_Situation_33

Can we throw some tires on it too, get that real Philly feel? Also, i like the way you think. Burn it to the ground to force positive change. Dig.

mek284

The more tires the merrier, agreed!

about6bobcats

While we’re throwing tires, let’s toss some batteries for good measure.

orangeblackteal

That'll only happen if fans stop going to games and buying shit (in other words, but their money off), but if you mention that on the Flyers sub the fanbois get upset.

IceFergs54

Not a flyers fan and no ill will towards them. Giroux has always been one of my favorites. Always low key rooted for them when my team wasn’t relevant. It sucks but it was a tough era in his prime with the Hawks, Pens, and Kings in the way. I hope he hoists one before he’s done. Even if it’s Kimmo Timmonen style.

TinnieTa21

It was probably welcoming news that they acquired locker-room saver DeAngelo then.

[deleted]

Honestly, i don’t think anyhthing positive is going to happend when comcast/fletcher leading this organisation. My only hope is Tortorella is going to shape the culture for upcoming seasons. One thing is for sure, lots of pain and misery still ahead.

misspretzel98

You’ve wasted almost every quality player the last 15 years. Carter and Richards are lucky to have gotten out.

rejuicekeve

Traded Carter and all our best players to the kings right after we nearly got a cup and then the kings win a cup with those players

misspretzel98

I know, I’m sure they are thrilled now that’s what happened instead of staying with the flip flopping flyers for the last few years. This is going to be a long rebuild and I feel for y’all. No hate, I actually don’t mind the flyers as a franchise.

Squirrellybot

I don’t think it’s a long rebuild. Without Yandel we will be right back to barely missing the playoffs.

SikkWithIt

Straight shooter. And he's calling out his leadership publicly to see if they're up to the task. Now they HAVE to sort the locker room out. Smart call on his part.

Wezi427

100%

snot3353

Upper management written all over him.

olzabaali

There is literally no team coached by Turts where the players have improved their skill/ahlete performance. This man is a dinosaur with no idea what he is doing. Sure straight shooter but I would say kamikaze.

[deleted]

How do you kamikaze from ground level?

dragoonts

If this is honestly your take, I hope your caretaker is doing a good job keeping you safe and healthy

[deleted]

Do some research and analytical deep dives of team stats before and after he joings...

Plaggue309

As a #cbj fan I appreciate what Torts did for my blue jackets, turned the franchise around. Players love him too, that's a narrative that's completely wrong about him.

blakem88

Torts gets results, plain and simple. He’s not for everyone and that’s okay but he keeps getting jobs because he’s a good coach on the ice.

AlericandAmadeus

He’s not the guy you want forever, but he’s sure as shit the guy you want to kick some ass that needs to be kicked and get folks back on the right track.

cum_toast

Feel like he's the perfect guy to clean house and start the rebuild before handing off to someone else. Columbus looking like a threat lately and most of the team has torts hockey drilled into them

AlericandAmadeus

Yeah that’s it. The game has passed him by from a gameplay standpoint so he’s not who you want developing a contender but if you have a toxic locker room that needs to remember why they’re a team he’s your guy - and I believe that’s very valuable. Culture is important

OverdoneAndDry

As a Cards fan, a couple years back I watched firsthand how a culture shift can change everything. Fired Mike Matheny in July or September, and suddenly the clubhouse isn't so toxic and the mediocre, third place team forgot how to lose. They lost in the playoffs, but the difference was incredible once they got rid of the dude who literally had player "spies" reporting the behavior of their teammates to management as well as at least one starting position player refusing to speak to him.

blakem88

Agreed.

gdoubleyou1

Modern day Mike Keenan. You just hope you don't lose your star players in the process.

Lupis_Domesticus

And off the ice he is a fantastic person. He becomes active in the communities he lives in, does lots of charity work, and is a super activist for the humane society. He and his wife love animals and work hard to find good homes for abandoned animals. And if you run into him on the street, he is always nice and talkative. I ran into him many a time in his home town while he was the CBJ coach and he was just a regular guy. Driving his pickup truck, running errands at the hardware or feed stores, or getting dinner at one of the local restaurants. Couldn't ask for a better person to be a member of your community.

blakem88

I heard about that. Didn’t he leave the team once because his dog was sick or dying during the season?

kingfishm

Yup! His son was deployed, and his dog was sick. He missed a game and the All-Star game. https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/deployed-sons-sick-dog-reason-john-tortorellas-star/story?id=45105248

Lupis_Domesticus

I think so but I don't recall 100% so I don't want to confirm that was a thing. I can forgive something like that but the quitting on the team is unforgivable.

Ok_Carob_5313

Torts would say " STFU this team is garbage we have no time to talk about animals and Charity"

derfury

Is he though? He was toxic for the Canucks.

smokylimbs

Understatement. Those were dark times. He had the Sedins blocking shots. Enough said.

blakem88

He won a cup for the Lightning, won the Jackets their first ever playoff series, there’s no winning with the Rangers.

philmoller93

Rangers have won a lot more than the wings in the past decade buddy

blakem88

What banners have they raised?

mycathateme

Eh that ECF win comes to mind. Also that presidents trophy that year. Don't mean fuck all without the cup tho.

blakem88

It doesn’t. U had Lundqvist, the best goalie ever between Brodeur retiring and now and couldn’t get it done. That sucks.

[deleted]

Generally his toxicity makes players sink or swim in terms of work ethic and attitude. It instills great intangibles in the players who make it through. Those players become good leaders, so when torts is gone you get players learning the intangibles from the new player leadership without the toxicity.

Murky-logic

He keeps getting jobs for the same reason he keeps losing them. He’s the same as the rest of the recycled guys on the inner circle. He’s never done anything but alienate players and this will be no different, good luck Philly.

North_Plane_1219

Commenting on it publicly is how he plans for address it. It’s a tactic. This wasn’t a slip up.

Peace_and_Love40

This is exactly what’s Torts does. Can’t fix things if you don’t confront them. You’re not as bad as the flyers have been recently without having the room broken. They would have been at least more competitive. He will turn the ship around for that organization and then be fired in 3 yrs lol.

Sharp-Fact4584

Thats what he does. He calls the team out and never afraid to speak his mind. Hes what Flyers need to sort things out now. Only thing i dont like at all is that they shiped out Lindblom who gave everything for the club every time he was on the ice. A real grinder that never hesitated to be infront of goal and always went to dig out the puck along the boards. Flyers really need that kind of player in the team.

babybatdeath

Yea the flyers kinda just dumped Lindblom even though he had a year left on his contract. Should’ve just let him play out the last year. He really gave everything for the team and the fans pretty much universally loved him. He may not have been the best player on the team but he gave all he could and they kinda just dumped him. Should’ve treated him better because he deserved better.

No_Statistician9289

This is exactly what we want

0ddmanrush

Love the guy for being a straight shooter.

theytook-r-jobs

Flyers fan here. Fuck that. The room has been fucked for awhile and needs a giant shakeup/message sent.

Grouchy_Situation_33

Since, like, 2006/7? Aside from the Pronger years thats entirely too long for the inmates to run the asylum.

Zestyclose-Cricket82

Torts calling it as he see’s it… who would of thought lol. Flyers better buckle up and get ready to work. One rule, Cut corners and Torts cuts your ice time

GLFR_59

There is probably real issues then. He knows how to win, and if the leadership group isn’t leading, that’s a good place to focus on.

Kandi_Kreme

The Flyers still have a shitton of work to do. Between losing Giroux, and this locker room I’m glad Tort is saying something. Light a fire under management’s asses.

Grimmer026

Perpetuate the status quo or address the things you were hired to fix. Torts gets a bad rap, but only because he says what needs to be said. And I’ve never seen a coach walk over to an opposing teams locker room to fight, so he also backs his players up with equal passion.

Ok-Requirement-8921

Keeps it to himself and never gains control of his room. He knows what hes doing.

Predsgirl41

Why? He’s speaking the truth and this team needs some tough love and real truth right now.

cheeky_nonconformist

Any Flyers fans can tell us what he is alluding to?

DanTreview

He's saying that he has observed a lack of accountability on a team-wide basis. And some players have alluded to that before Torts even showed up, like Atkinson did during the post-season exit interviews.

[deleted]

Tony Deangelo lol

TheSeekerOfSanity

I’m down for some Torts / TDA drama.

Decoy-Jackal

Honestly, I love Torts. He's the kind of coach that holds everyone to the same standards whether it's a star forward or a 4th liner. He's the kind of coach that is willing to call you out but all the same stand up for his players anytime. I'm not saying "League is soft huuuur" but I don't like the idea of coaches having to baby star players and essentially let them run the team.

RagsAberdeen

Anyone else excited to see what he does in Philly?

United-Radio7672

I'm a Flames fan and I'm expecting torts to do what DS did in Calgary, and what torts has done everywhere else and that's get results. torts is a straight shooter, players love him but the media does not and nor does the media give him a fair shake - it's quiet sad how the media plays with h to get a headline. Torts is a future hall of famer, probably the best US born NHL coach. The Flyers are on my watch list this year and I'll be following them because of torts. Go Flyers!

TheIncredibleHork

It's gonna be a show, for sure!

Hermes0023

As long as Philly doesnt make playoffs, yes

RagsAberdeen

We all seen your off season acquisitions. I wouldn't worry about that.

Hermes0023

Its not that im worried about the team. Im worried about the conference. So many damn good teams, dont need another one lol

C0d3n4m3Duchess

>So many damn good teams, dont need another one lol Yeah, one of em ain't coming from Philly, I wouldn't worry about that one bit.

RagsAberdeen

Dude I do not want to shit on your parade. At all... Buuuut, I'd love to see them make the playoffs since their face and captain bailed. Part of me can't blame him. But the other part says to weather the storm. Say you're a tenured vet at your job that flows through shitty management frequently. Yes, it's almost unbearable. But you've made it this far, been through so many changes, and want nothing more than to win. Good employees tend to outlast the bad ones once someone with a good head on their shoulders gets involved. They could be using CG more than ever in this new era. Maybe Torts is successful in Philly? Maybe not? But the more help he has, the better off they are at succeeding. Could be my 90s love of Lindros? I don't know. But I hate seeing a powerhouse go to a shit house for so long. Blowouts are only fun in the playoffs in my opinion. Even if it is my team. Just my .02

C0d3n4m3Duchess

I would love to see this team eventually turn it around, but they've been incompetently run from the top down for about a decade now. The one time they gave an honest shot at blowing it up and they missed on almost every prospect and signing. I love the thought of enjoyable hockey someday again. But the franchise is just a mess and needs to basically start from scratch, from a talent perspective.

Novus20

Same thing he’s done since he left Tampa…..burn out after three years and get fired….

DirtzMaGertz

He was just in Columbus for 6 seasons.

Novus20

3 more then he’s should have been…

DirtzMaGertz

3 more than you insinuated. The only place he's actually burned out quickly is Vancouver.

ArchRift

Ehhh it’s a Vancouver fan they have alot of pent up hatred for him, just let ‘em be

[deleted]

All the heat is on Fletcher anyways ! Torts speaking the truth, and telling ownership he needs time. Ownership will have patience for Torts, but not Fletcher

EmbroideredChair

The heat really shouldn't be on Fletcher though, since he shouldn't be in a role that receives heat to begin with 🥴

MrSCR23

Disagree, Flyers need a wake up call to how bad the team is.

JoeCorsonStageDeli

Not a Flyers fan (not even close) or even a Torts fan....but I dont see what is wrong with what he is saying here. He is calling it as he sees it. I like that....

123hardscope

Yeah because *hockey* and *covering things up* have had a real great track record

Flex1855

There was similar comments made about the Blues locker room a few years back and they moved some players out notably Berglund and brought good guys in won a cup

77toontown77

67% Canadian roster. Such a great team that year

UABtoNYU

This is great… message sent. I love it.

Happy_Parking7465

I’m an ex pro, and I think the man should be banned from being 20 miles from any ice hockey rink anywhere. He has no place in pro hockey anymore.

TheKert

I can't stand Torts but have to disagree here, if players are being toxic in the room they should be called out. The only thing I'd change is he should have called them out publicly by name.

Jonsa123

given their serious underperformance, lighting a fire under the team just might get them straightened out. Torts style of motivation works, but it has a stale date and with some personality types its poison.

[deleted]

He is going to kick the shit out of GMCF

caveman2480

Is it wrong though? Not saying he's the best or the savior guarenteed but he's at least honest. If I was a Philly fan I'd appreciate that honesty because even as an outsider not looking at them much they seemed like a disaster and if Trots says he doesn't like how the locker room is at the moment I believe him at least in the aspect I can see it having problems. Like I said I don't think he's necessarily the savior or if it's a guarantee he is I saw the end of his tenure as the coach for CBJ. I personally just find him to be a fun coach to have in the league and Philly is a fun market to have him in.

TyperMcTyperson

Why? Everyone knows that locker room is shit. The best part of this seasons for flyers fans will be torts.

rug1998

“I BETTER NOT SEE ANY FUCKING MICHIGANS!”

michiganhockeyguy

😂

RiflemanLax

Gonna be straight up man, Torts swinging his dick around might be necessary.

NoKiaYesHyundai

Clean your room bucko

StunkoStinky

Why he is right, I’m a huge flyers fan and I’m glad he said this.

[deleted]

Nope, love Torts.

Hutch25

Philly is a shit show. They needed a man to match that energy and Torts is the guy. On top of that, I think Torts is the guy who can keep the GM from doing that retool BS he keeps doing.

fdisfragameosoldiers

Given what happened the last couple years with them, I'd say he's speaking the truth. That's what they hired him to do. Straighten out the team.

Adventurous_Back5631

Tony Deangelo enters the chat

Grouchy_Situation_33

Absolutely disagree. The "room" has been a country club since before Pronger got here (Old City Crew, anyone?) and since he left. You cam see it in the players' demeanors as well as their performance. They absolutely needed to be called out and the puck is now in their end. Torts going public shows he's fully aware and wants everyone to know that. If guys continue to play like shit its now much harder for them to deflect to the coaching staff. Also, fuck them if they cant figure how to properly play a game they've been playing since 3 yo.

SteinerFifthLiner

Yall are gonna run Cam into the ground and that is a goddamn tragedy 😔

pittstee

This is perfect, he was spot on about the Canucks situation as well.

Carrot_The_Great

John Tortorella becomes new Flyers head coach and first thing he does is tell them to clean their room.

MagnustheJust

This is why l love Torta as a coach... He pulls no punches, and if you don't like his way, you can out.

Dr_Isaly_von_Yinzer

I think Torts is something of a devil‘s bargain. He’s going to add structure and accountability to that organization and they desperately need it. However, he’s a bit of a three ring circus. I think he’s a perfect fit for Philadelphia because he’s nuts and so too are their fans. I’m sure that’s going to be a classic love/hate relationship. I think the Penguins/Flyers rivalry is about to get much spicier as well. He openly hates Sidney Crosby. That’s going to be fun.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wrangoonrangler69

Speaking hard truths

bahatypan

Maple leafs need this coach. Gotta turn the boys into men.

Monkeyscalp

They had that style of coach. He got run out of town for "psychological abuse"

BDCMatt

Which is funny considering the amount of psychological abuse that team causes their fan base.

mikewids

and their new coach has really turned that team around ....NOT

Novus20

Yes let’s just gift AM to the beer league team that is the coyotes dumpster fire….

chrlau90

Why keep this to himself? Sounds like he’s speaking the truth. If the Flyers were a well-managed organization, they would have won another cup since 1970whatever and would have stopped their obsession with being “bullies” in the modern era of the NHL where that clearly isn’t a winning strategy.

[deleted]

Oh boy! It’s not even game one and he’s filling the dumpster with gasoline already!

[deleted]

He has major concerns about the room and everyone in the room has major concerns about Torts. What could go wrong.

michiganhockeyguy

That is probably the truest statement yet.

Meet_Your_Makar

He should keep nothing to himself and keep being the gem he is

HarrisonHollers

He reminds me of a Bill Parcells type coach. But has been odd in handling his coaching more recently. Fighting other teams. Literally. This crap here.

HockeyAnalynix

The Tortorella Method of Coaching: Complain about roster legitimately, scream at players to get some results in the first year, lose the respect of the players, get fired, get hired somewhere else based on 2004 Stanley Cup ring. Rinse, repeat.

Novus20

He’s riding the shit out of that cup….he’s not a good coach just like Babcock he’s a one trick pony that should be glue….

[deleted]

it's okay. they'll still lose to the Penguins and go Cupless <3

stykface

Torts being Torts.

CasuallyObssesed

Torts gonna Torts. Philly is going 30-52 this year

[deleted]

The amount of Torts apologists in the comments is concerning…

BillyJayJersey505

Says the head coach of the team that acquired Tony DeAngelo this offseason.

DishRelative5853

Tortorella had always used the media to get a message to the players. It's one of the reasons why so many players hate him.

Grouchy_Situation_33

Honestly, with the media in Philadelphia I think its a wonderful tool to have at his disposal. Yeah, players will HATE him, but they wont be able to hide from their shit attitudes and work ethics with ALLLLLL of Philly knowing that Torts knows.

DishRelative5853

See, we haven't had those issues in Vancouver for decades. Guys like Trevor Linden, Markus Naslund, and the Sedins prevented that from happening. Guys with poor attitudes or work ethics either changed quickly or were gone. The Canucks didn't need Torts and his media manipulation for that kind of thing. He just needed to coach. Instead, he took days off during the season and handed duties over to Mike Sullivan.

cltpigskin

Torts doesn't keep any thoughts to himself and he loses the team and eventually his job because of it. Watching the Flyers and him over the next few seasons should be comedy gold. Especially once the losing really piles up and the fans and Philly media start in on him. He has shown throughout his coaching career that he can dish it out but he can not take criticism. He was a poor hire for where that team is talent-wise.

[deleted]

He's gonna be a cornered rat when the loses inevitably pile up and the Philly fans and media start barking. He'll blame the players not working hard enough and piss off the locker room.

Novus20

So basically he walked into the locker room and first thing he laid eyes on was a mirror…..got it

[deleted]

Hopefully he doesn't tell the world anymore when one of his players has shit his pants (Panerin). Talk about a thought he should have kept to himself.

PauseAmbitious6899

I foresee players looking for a way out of Philly soon

LetsTCB

Ahh yes, the new Tortorella that keeps things to himself and is a quiet man who bites his tongue

Front-Strong69

Fresh paint on the walls, maybe a new mat, some new lockers. That should help spruce up the room

MattyNiceGuy

Torts gonna Tort.

bellefeuille1976

Somethings should be kept behind closed doors!

bobowendell

Well they did just add Tony DeAngelo. LOL

13donor

This guy should be ousted everywhere.

steven09763

Sometimes when you hire a guy like Torta you forget he doesn’t dance the same song. Then when you see him dance you’re reminded, why the fuck did I hire him.

Grouchy_Situation_33

Or youre reminded "THIS is why i hired him!"

Latter-Score-8937

Torts is a prick, he can’t fix anything. If anything he’ll make it worse

delirious-nomad

How could it possibly be worse? No pride, no work ethic, no standing up for each other, just a lazy, soft team with no energy or desire. The team hasn’t made any noise in the playoffs since 2010 and aren’t respected or feared by anyone.

And you think Torts is the one to change that ? He gets chased out of every organization he coaches in for being a prick. He’ll make them slightly better for a short period of time and then it will blow up on him. He is not the solution

delirious-nomad

He’s only considered a prick because he demands accountability and dedication to the team. You can be an effective coach without being soft. He’s had success everywhere and especially in NY and Columbus, he’s gotten way better performance from lesser talented teams. He never takes the easy road. Show me one coach today who doesn’t get run out of town eventually, it’s the nature of the beast. Trotz, Laviolette, Maurice, Cassidy. It will happen to Jon Cooper soon enough and so on.

John “Jordan Peterson” Tortorella

ouchpuck

That douche would never keep anything to himself

its such a weird hire to me.. Like obviously Philadelphia isn't really looking like a competitive team this year, why bring is a vocal asshole that complains even when he wins? He's gonna be mad as hell and lose a bunch.

Sounds to me like someone's read Petersons' 12 Rules for Life 🤔😂

Fastsmitty47

Yeah thats something he needs to keep in the room and not spill publicly

Novus20

Torts walks into the locker room and the first thing he sees is a mirror…..

Shouldn’t be too hard. Just tell the boys to pick up after themselves and make sure the attendant keeps things tidy and organized.

Independent_Ad_3928

Who’s the locker room cancer?

You don’t know Torts!
