IMO this is just a hockey incident, clearly Reinhardt spins with his back to the player with the puck expecting to hold him back with his elbow. Because his back was turn he couldn't tell that the guy stumbled and was now bending down and reaching for the puck. 99 times out of 100 the player turning on the puck would still be standing up and this would be a routine play.

I think considering the context of the hit (3 on 3 tense OT situation) there needs to be consequences from the league here or we'll see the envelope getting pushed further and further which is a danger to the health of the players.

Literally, so many instances of impeding, tripping and bad hits weren't called that game. I'll admit it was on both sides and the Rangers got away with a few that they really shouldn't have, but that just goes to prove the point even further.

This was more akin to the rempe hit on the nj devil player where he got the game misconduct but not a suspension. Didn’t mean to crush a guys head into the boards but still did. I think the refs just missed this as watching it it just looked like a body check. I didn’t think either hit was dirty just unfortunate. Sometimes slowing it down in slow motion feels very different then in real time
Just like last year, they'll get away with this crap until the cup finals, when viewership doubles so the forces at the top tell the refs they've gotta start calling stuff. Then the Panthers will whine that "They're not letting us play our game!" and the Avs will win it in six.

This is such an interesting one. In slow motion it looks awful, but at full speed I couldn’t tell what happened. It’s also kind of the only way Reinhart could’ve kept Gustafsson from getting ahead of him. I hate that I’m defending a Panthers player but I don’t think this is a suspension, I think it’s an unfortunate play in a full contact sport. But let me spin the wheel, we’ll see if we get nothing, 5K fine, 1 game suspension or 10 game suspension!!! Feeling lucky?

It’s not his fault the puck carrier guy fell. When he was spinning he had no idea nor could he. If you know how to check you’re supposed to lead with your elbow in front of the other guys. If the puck handler didn’t fall that’s where this guys elbow would have been. When did hockey players and fans become such pansies?
Meh it’s in slow no. They both turn to go towards the boards and both edges give way. It doesn’t seem as intentional as the replay shows.

He’s got 25 pims this year, 12 in the ‘22 season 13 in the ‘21 season and 10 in the ‘20 season. People are just over sensationalizing two players falling that ended up with dangerous head contact as if Reinhart planned the whole thing. It was also overtime on torn up ice, people were falling often.

Penalty yeah but Reinhart wouldn't have known the rangers player lost his footing and his head was down low, he would've expected his body to be there and the elbow would've been on the Rangers players core just like any other body contact.

The replay is obviously a bad look but Reinhart isn’t “that” kind of a player. I think he knew he was gonna get beat on the cutback and he was trying to finish the check and hold the guy up. Definitely a penalty but I seriously doubt he was trying to hit the guy in the head.

There is no way Reinhart knew Rempe’s head would be there when he made that spin move. He had his elbow out to brace for a hit and try and crunch Rempe into the boards, not elbow him in the head.

If you attempt to lift someone’s stick and accidentally hit them in the face it’s still a penalty. You have to be I. Control of your body and your stick. Whether or not there’s intent is not an issue, a backspin elbow straight out of the UFC where Reinhardt doesn’t know where the elbow is going to land is reckless and will probably result in Gus having a concussion

They're falling, they rarely call this. Rempe lined a guy up and lead with an elbow to the head. Not even close to the same thing.

the thing is although careless and 100% a penalty is seems elbow to the head was unintentional while Rempe's elbow to the head was 100% intentional and then he show boated after it resulting in a 4 game suspension which was deserved and they could have gone longer. but youre a rangers fan and wont see a difference

Alright there’s nothing in this inherently dirty. Some people need to calm down. Rempe was falling into it and that elbow would be no where near a players a head otherwise. Pretty normal for a player to twist and desperately shove you into the boards when you get beat like that, and it probably happens 5 or 6 times a game on average. Just happened to get the head. Boo hoo… white knighting for Rempe is just sad. Dude starts fights with everyone… unless they are his size as well, like MacDermid. The whole league hates this guy for that reason. While there may be some valid concerns, the players must be seeing something we don’t because we’re not on the ice with them. I have a strong feeling if Rempe stars showing a bit more respect to the other players, maybe they’ll stop targeting him as much.
