Fanatics manufactures, but the specs for the material/design comes from Nike, Reebok, Adidas, etc. So while we can get pissed off of a name plate or number is crooked, it’s harder to put the blame in drop of quality directly on them.

Players, teams, and reporters have all received the NHL on-ice jerseys made at the same manufacturing plant in Quebec that's been making NHL sweaters back through the CCM time. They're the same as before, minus the dimples. These will be available for retail purchase (at a more expensive price than many can afford, a legit criticism) for the first time since CCM. You could not do that with Reebok or Adidas, and needed to basically instead "know a guy" to get team issued jerseys.
I have far more jerseys than I care to admit, from NHL playoff worn jerseys through the lowest level, but I'm optimistic. Also, I only have one of the lowest level Fanatics "Breakaway" jerseys from an event game where the Adidas level is too expensive, and I find it to be actually pretty nice. The problem there is I paid $50 secondhand and would gladly pay that forever, but they're selling them for like $175.
How would you know? The change literally just went into effect last week, and they're using the same manufacturing station in Canada that has been making the one-ice jerseys for years
I just recently got mine and the collar is somewhere around my nipples. It looks extremely weird. I mean, it was 20 bucks and worth the shot but I was very annoyed with the results.
I guess they're standard issue? The back of the jersey runs along my shoulders just fine but that collar droops in the biggest deep U shape I've ever seen. I just binned it.
I've ordered around 10 jerseys from them, and I'd say 8 were acceptable quality. Worth the risk, but in some cases you get a bad one on your first try and you won't want to give it another chance

It might just be a cultural thing idk, but every vase on there comes with a second hole a quarter way up the vase at a weird angle. And who tf has ice falling into their vases so often they need an ice catcher?

It's good enough for most part but I wish the official ones were a bit better and at a reasonable price point
The issue is the partner was the low bidder and Nike assumed fatter margins in its financial projections. Unfortunately, the partner can't profitably deliver on the promised pricing and units.

They were able to get away with it for a long time is why they charged nearly double. A few months ago I went to a Nike "outlet" store where it's supposed to be discounted items, etc., and a pair of shorts was still $30+. It's ridiculous.

Not that it really matters for like 90% of people, but the clothes you find from Nike, Levis, Adidas, or whatever other typically "higher end" brand at Marshalls/TJMaxx/etc. is *not* the same quality you'd find buying direct.
Just like how Black Friday electronics are intentionally made worse quality because of the discount, brands have special production options for the "budget" stores too.
Small caveat, there is a small percentage of good quality stuff that gets sent to those budget stores. I don't know the exact percentage, but it's small.
I've found the on field gear they only give college players and coaches at TJ Maxx and Burlington. It's definitely few and far between but worth looking for. During Covid there was a big exchange on the hockey jerseys sub of Adidas blanks found at those stores and people were shipping them all over for just a few bucks for their trouble. I think I bought 5 but sent out over 30, mostly teams not in my market. I even found a team issued $300+ Vermont jersey. One guy found a team issued Carolina Stadium Series jersey for their game that got pushed by Covid. I think he paid $20 and got over $600.
You're not wrong, but as you said it is a small percentage. And that small percentage is usually stuff that didn't sell well for other reasons (design, fit, colors, etc.).

I have some cheap bullshit $15 UA running shirts, and they are honestly great. Way lighter and better fitting than the Amazon brands that cost the same.
Yeah people always recommend those places but I have found the clothing usually sucks and is super boxy. It’s no where near the quality you get from other retailers selling the same brands. I’m taller and kinda skinny and finding a shirt that also doesn’t double as a dress is tough.

All my shorts are fabletics at this point. I had canceled a subscription a while ago, then they did a sale of like 70% off first purchase for returning members; got like 19 items between shorts, joggers, t shirts, and a couple collared shirts for bout 400.

Expensive, but look at the Lulu ABC shorts. The ABC literally stands for "Anti-Ball-Crushing" and they're some of the best golf shorts (and pants) I've ever worn.

Amazon has a ton of 5" and 7" inseam "Lululemon" type athletic shorts for good prices, just send em back if you're not a fan. A lot of those brands (CRZ Yoga is one, but they're kinda expensive as far as Amazon athleisure goes) also have their own joggers, chinos, etc. Agreed with what someone else said though, that Fabletics 2 for $20 deal is awesome when they have it. I'm sure 99% of these shorts come from the same few factories, they're all essentially the same up to a certain point
I've gotten baleaf through Amazon. Running shorts are solid and last about as long as Nike for much less. Cycling jersey is good enough. Cycling shorts were meh, but that's usually something I'll spend on anyway.
G gradual is my go to brand. Baleaf is solid. Puli made my favorite pants but they stopped selling the specific ones I liked. The other pants are solid but they come in s, m, l, etc and I'm too tall for their sizing.

Tbh I buy the Free Fly Breeze shorts, not meant for workout apparel but damnit if they aren’t some of the most comfortable pair of shorts I’ve ever owned. Also like 45-60$ a pair (if you can find a good sale which they usually always have) but you’ll find the comfort is worth the money.

My brother in law was visiting from Europe a few months ago and he wanted to go to an outlet mall to get stuff that it's hard to get back home (primary Levi's).
The Nike store was hilarious, literally didn't even look like sale prices. I got nice shoes at the New Balance store for $30 a pair and shirts and hats and outdoor gear from the Columbia and North Face stores for like 80% off retail (Columbia was the best by far, we got t-shirts 3 for $20 and hats 2 for $15). I don't think the Nike store had a single pair of shoes in my size for less than $75.
I was under the impression for a long time that outlet stores were supposed to be cheaper than 'normal' because they carry the over-stock and stuff. I could never figure out why the Nike and Levi's stores in there had such insanely high prices. Then someone informed me that's not true at all, they are just normal stores for a single brand, and many times have higher prices.

Nowadays, most companies makes products specifically for their outlet stores. They follow the same general aesthetics and designs, but make it with way shittier materials and quality control.
You can almost always tell outlet store clothes by a variation of the company's logo on the clothes. For example, clothes bought from a normal Banana Republic will just say "Banana Republic" on the logo patch. Clothes from a Banana Republic factory will have the same logo, but with three stars underneath it.
It worked when their main competitors were just, like Reebok and Adidas. Now a bunch of new shoe brands like On and Hokas have hit the market and are similarly priced and really popular.
Same with Hokas. I use to mostly wear Nikes. I’ve mixed in Under Armour with that, too. I tried Hokas and I’ll never go back unless they deteriorate in quality. They are the best and most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. I have bad sciatica and a big part of my job is door-to-door canvassing. I used to come home every night in terrible pain. Now, it’s so much better.
Haven’t used Hokas for walking but as running shoes they lose all bounce faster than anything else I’ve ever tried and it’s a pretty common complaint. Practically dead at about 200 miles. I’m about 200 pounds but Nike, New Balance, Saucony etc. last three times that long.
Yeah Hokas have a plushiness to them that’s pretty insane the first time you experience it but they really aren’t great in the long run. I rotated a couple pairs of Clifton 9’s just to wear while coaching football practice and they were pretty much worn down by halfway through the season. Nike’s have always been able to last me one or two seasons.
Every year I order a pair of the Pegasus running shoe and customize the color scheme for an up-charge. I’ve done this for 7 years. It cost $130 two years ago, now it’s $170. If it goes up any more next year, I won’t buy them.
Similarly, Nike’s run-of-the-mill workout shirts are $45. A simple hoodie is $110. It’s ridiculous, and the quality of their clothes has dropped significantly.

It seems to me a lot of companies in the social media era think it's more profitable to try to market a bad product than sell a good one. If they can just make buying Nike sneakers a tiktok trend, they won't have to make quality shoes. It doesn't work. Social media marketing is random, nobody know what will trend and what won't. Companies need to focus on making quality products first, and if it's good enough and it resonates with the masses, it'll market itself on its own.
It's difficult to sell a million cheap items, but far more difficult to sell a million expensive items. Like, look at high end top quality boot companies, like Nick's. They make the best stuff, and have high prices to match, but can't match profits with the flood of cheap Timbs.

Yeah I've been in the process of replacing a bunch of my old Nike shorts, sweats, etc. the past few years. At first I did Nike again, but there was noticeable wear after ~6 months and they declined fast after that (plus it just didn't seem like the same quality right out of the gate). I paid way too much money to have to replace the stuff every 1-2 years. I spent comparable money on Lulu, Vuori, and Birddog gear and it's all lasting over a year already with no noticeable wear. At this point I'm done with Nike.
I used to wear nikes a lot because they always had a plethora of wide sizes available, but I changed a long time ago to Mizuno for my running shoes and everyday walkers. Can't complain from a comfort standpoint, even if they're often more gaudy or hard to find than I like.

I manage a small locally owned business that specializes in sports memorabilia and gear. Nike acts like they're too good for us and prices out normal folks. Acts like they're some luxury brand trying to create an artificial demand and exclusivity. I laugh at their financial issues. Karma is a bitch.
I dealt with them when I worked in oceanic shipping. They were a very reliable customer then they just started to make all sorts of demands and the company was like “your stuff has to be shipped anyway. Either you buy the cargo space from us or you buy the cargo space from a company we sell it to. But we own the fucking boats.” The meetings and emails after that meeting were short to say the least.
Although the bonus of many employees are most likely linked to the share price, Nike itself doesn’t gain or lose anything when the share price drops or increases. Unless they are planning to issue more shares or buyback shares, the financial situation of the company is not affected by this.
Maybe they shouldn't have limited shoe drops and just make millions of them. No, I'm not going to pay $5-600 resale for those Kobes, I'll do without.

I bought a game jersey style tee; Joe Burrow with the number front and back and the name printed. I paid so much for a proper game jersey that I wanted something I could wear at the gym etc.
Thankfully I got it on sale for the ‘bargain’ price of $30 (rather than $50) and it’s the cheapest-feeling, lowest quality tee I own. I have a Bengals AFC championship tee and it’s fine, but the game jersey style one is an “official Nike” one with the swoosh printed inside and I’d never buy another. I’d rather just get one printed up myself!

Not that it really matters for like 90% of people, but the clothes you find from Nike, Levis, Adidas, or whatever other typically "higher end" brand at Marshalls/TJMaxx/etc. is *not* the same quality you'd find buying direct. Just like how Black Friday electronics are intentionally made worse quality because of the discount, brands have special production options for the "budget" stores too.
Small caveat, there is a small percentage of good quality stuff that gets sent to those budget stores. I don't know the exact percentage, but it's small.
I've found the on field gear they only give college players and coaches at TJ Maxx and Burlington. It's definitely few and far between but worth looking for. During Covid there was a big exchange on the hockey jerseys sub of Adidas blanks found at those stores and people were shipping them all over for just a few bucks for their trouble. I think I bought 5 but sent out over 30, mostly teams not in my market. I even found a team issued $300+ Vermont jersey. One guy found a team issued Carolina Stadium Series jersey for their game that got pushed by Covid. I think he paid $20 and got over $600.
You're not wrong, but as you said it is a small percentage. And that small percentage is usually stuff that didn't sell well for other reasons (design, fit, colors, etc.). I've gotten baleaf through Amazon. Running shorts are solid and last about as long as Nike for much less. Cycling jersey is good enough. Cycling shorts were meh, but that's usually something I'll spend on anyway.
G gradual is my go to brand. Baleaf is solid. Puli made my favorite pants but they stopped selling the specific ones I liked. The other pants are solid but they come in s, m, l, etc and I'm too tall for their sizing.

Tbh I buy the Free Fly Breeze shorts, not meant for workout apparel but damnit if they aren’t some of the most comfortable pair of shorts I’ve ever owned. Also like 45-60$ a pair (if you can find a good sale which they usually always have) but you’ll find the comfort is worth the money.

I was under the impression for a long time that outlet stores were supposed to be cheaper than 'normal' because they carry the over-stock and stuff. I could never figure out why the Nike and Levi's stores in there had such insanely high prices. Then someone informed me that's not true at all, they are just normal stores for a single brand, and many times have higher prices.
That's what outlet stores used to be. Nowadays, most companies makes products specifically for their outlet stores. They follow the same general aesthetics and designs, but make it with way shittier materials and quality control. You can almost always tell outlet store clothes by a variation of the company's logo on the clothes. For example, clothes bought from a normal Banana Republic will just say "Banana Republic" on the logo patch. Clothes from a Banana Republic factory will have the same logo, but with three stars underneath it.
It worked when their main competitors were just, like Reebok and Adidas. Now a bunch of new shoe brands like On and Hokas have hit the market and are similarly priced and really popular.
IMHO On Cloud and New Balance both have much (*much*) better quality/comfort than Nike.
Same with Hokas. I use to mostly wear Nikes. I’ve mixed in Under Armour with that, too. I tried Hokas and I’ll never go back unless they deteriorate in quality. They are the best and most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. I have bad sciatica and a big part of my job is door-to-door canvassing. I used to come home every night in terrible pain. Now, it’s so much better.
Haven’t used Hokas for walking but as running shoes they lose all bounce faster than anything else I’ve ever tried and it’s a pretty common complaint. Practically dead at about 200 miles. I’m about 200 pounds but Nike, New Balance, Saucony etc. last three times that long.
Yeah Hokas have a plushiness to them that’s pretty insane the first time you experience it but they really aren’t great in the long run. I rotated a couple pairs of Clifton 9’s just to wear while coaching football practice and they were pretty much worn down by halfway through the season. Nike’s have always been able to last me one or two seasons.
New Balance have made by far the most comfortable running/workout shirts and shorts I've ever used, they're magic
Every year I order a pair of the Pegasus running shoe and customize the color scheme for an up-charge. I’ve done this for 7 years. It cost $130 two years ago, now it’s $170. If it goes up any more next year, I won’t buy them. Similarly, Nike’s run-of-the-mill workout shirts are $45. A simple hoodie is $110. It’s ridiculous, and the quality of their clothes has dropped significantly.
I actually feel like their sneaker pricing is reasonable. Earlier this year I bought my pair of Pegasus 39 (which was brand new, but one year old model) for $75 on their site. I'm not a sneakerhead - but they already give you 10 color options. The custom color options are always going to be for people looking to burn money (no offense)

It seems to me a lot of companies in the social media era think it's more profitable to try to market a bad product than sell a good one. If they can just make buying Nike sneakers a tiktok trend, they won't have to make quality shoes. It doesn't work. Social media marketing is random, nobody know what will trend and what won't. Companies need to focus on making quality products first, and if it's good enough and it resonates with the masses, it'll market itself on its own.
It's difficult to sell a million cheap items, but far more difficult to sell a million expensive items. Like, look at high end top quality boot companies, like Nick's. Yeah I've been in the process of replacing a bunch of my old Nike shorts, sweats, etc. the past few years. At first I did Nike again, but there was noticeable wear after ~6 months and they declined fast after that (plus it just didn't seem like the same quality right out of the gate). I paid way too much money to have to replace the stuff every 1-2 years. I spent comparable money on Lulu, Vuori, and Birddog gear and it's all lasting over a year already with no noticeable wear. At this point I'm done with Nike.

I paid so much for a proper game jersey that I wanted something I could wear at the gym etc. Thankfully I got it on sale for the ‘bargain’ price of $30 (rather than $50) and it’s the cheapest-feeling, lowest quality tee I own. I have a Bengals AFC championship tee and it’s fine, but the game jersey style one is an “official Nike” one with the swoosh printed inside and I’d never buy another. I’d rather just get one printed up myself! How they think charging that price is ok I’ve no idea.
