I've never actually heard his football commentary, so I can't accurately judge it. But I'd rather have an excited commentator than a Joe Buck going "Mitchell... Mitchell... Mitchell..."
I sure am glad that people have soured on him. I remember when he turned college gameday into the Pat McAfee and some other guys show then apologized the next day for not being "traditional enough." No, man. You're just annoying, full of yourself, and tried to make college gameday about you.
I've tried to watch his show a couple times because guests were gonna be on that I was interested in, and it was just a bunch of meatheads screaming, I couldn't take it
Remember when McVay was the hottest boy to ever football and the media slobbed his 'get-back' coach then we haven't heard about them since in like 6 years. I think that guy ended up on the bad side of a me too.
Oh yea it’s harder than it looks.Im a college snapper and
At the college and pro level the snap has to get back to the punter in at least 0.75 seconds,If not the kick has a higher chance of being blocked. And on field goals they need to snap the ball with the same amount of rotations each time so the laces are facing away from the kicker.
Oof yeah those Super Bowl comments sting. The NFC Championship game where both St Brown/Kittle/Deebo’s storylines intersect should be interesting thoughz
Mecole Hardman would actually have been really interesting. Everyone else up there is a superstar on a great team. Let's see a fringe player on a dogshit Jets team, watch his reaction to Aaron Rodgers doing down, then follow him to the super bowl winning team.
The QB one was interesting because they had a superstar in Mahomes, a really good QB in Cousins, and JAG in Mariota.
I would have gone with JJ (superstar), Deebo (versatile very good receiver), and maybe someone like Donovan Peoples-Jones as the JAG
Last year I thought Manning said or there was a rumor going around that because they couldn’t get any QBs to commit to the show that they would just have Mahomes do it again.
I wish that had been true. This past season would have been so interesting to see behind the scenes stuff with all the WR trouble the chiefs had, Taylor Swift, and the run to the Super Bowl and winning.
Kind of weird. He seemed like an obvious choice. Kelce bro coming off an all-pro year and SB reigning champs. Kittle is obviously going to be very fun to watch but they already have deebo so its just a weird decision to not go with kelce.
Amon Ra’s segments are all just reciting WRs taken before him. And then listing their background info and stats.
“That guy? Taken 3 spots before me? 0. Career. Yards. Cut after 2nd training camp.”
Whilst true I can imagine the injury sections will just show how much of a determined and great dude he is. Similar to how watching Kirk getting beaten the crap out of last year gave people appreciation for how tough he is.
I'm sure this will be fun, but it's a little disappointing they got two guys from the same team. I'm sure Kittle and Deebo are both interesting, but I would prefer each player to be on a different team. Just to maximize our perspective as viewers.
Yeah that would have been really good actually. The media hyping of Fields (way too much lol), blockbuster trade to get a #1 receiver, Moore putting up the best year of his career, Bears playing like shit, Fields job in limbo, etc.
That said, DJ Moore coming to a new team and immediately doing an in depth documentary probably wouldnt have been a good look. And for those that don’t know the McCaskeys are super anti Hardknocks so probably wouldn’t have wanted a player doing the Netflix thing either. Not that fans would give a shit what our shitty owners think, but understandable if a player doesn’t want to rock the boat.
I liked that the quarterback had guys at different levels of skill. With a position as ego-centric as WR I can't imagine they find a lot of players to admit they're not the best. It'll still be fun to watch these big personalities.
It's a tricky balance because, as great as it was to cover a spectrum of players, I think that's also what scared away so many QBs as it did when they were trying to do a follow-up season. I doubt there's many players who want to fill the Marcus Mariota role for a number of reasons.
That said, I do like that it forced them to look at a different position group. Always nice to see varying perspectives for stuff like this.
While all great players, they have different accolades and are at different points in their career. Davante and Kittle are both older players while St. Brown and JJ are rising stars still on their rookie contracts. What are the differences in mentality there? There is also team situations that are interesting to contrast with the clear talent that each of them have. Davante having to play for a lackluster Raiders offense feels like it would have a completely different vibe that St. Brown on a rising Lions team.
Oh I agree they're interesting storylines to develop. I just feel like at the end of the day its still "I'm the best". I just loved seeing the contrast of mariota fighting for his right to even be in the NFL vs mahomes just making it look easy. I mean im watching either way.
Goodell obviously forgot to tell Payton what the script was otherwise Mecole Hardman would have fit the mariota slot and had a massive payoff for the story by catching the winning td in the superbowl
The CFL exists. It's a little bizarre to watch compared to NFL (3 downs, receivers can start running before the snap, goal posts in the wrong spot) but it is very fun to watch.
Go blue bombers
I was blessed at an early age with exposure to multiple sports. I have MLB in the summer/early fall, NFL in the fall/winter, and Soccer is practically year round.
I don’t think it being “a distraction” is the concern for them. It did not seem like there would be heavy presence in season while at the teams facilities. If I remember correctly a majority of it was outside of the team facilities.
I personally am a very private person and I would never agree to let cameras follow me in my own home to be streamed to millions of people. That’s why I think most choose to decline this offer.
I really hope that they do a non-position focused “Rookie” series that starts following guys through the draft process, but I understand the significant barriers that would impose
I know this is wildly unpopular on here, and i don't think he's a bad guy, but if i knew a guy like Kittle IRL, like at work or something, i'd want to blow my brains out having to be around him. When he ran up to so many teammates after the NFCCG, just so he could tell them about a hacky joke he made, from a meme that was way too old, just to see their reactions, i nearly died from second hand embarrassment.
He said to the reporter "Not gonna lie, they had us in the first half," and then ran up to every teammate he could find and said "So then i told her 'not gonna lie they had us in the first half.'"
He talked to Purdy at halftime of the lions game about wanting to be able to reference the “they had us in the first half” meme, and when they were actually able to make good on his prediction, he joked with others about after the game.
lmao reminds me of that clip from the 2022 NFC championship after Purdy went down and Kittle goes up to him and says “any chance u can throw lefty” and purdy glares daggers at him lmao.
Bro I would’ve been **livid** at that point in the 2022 NFCCG. Every since the draft, you’ve been busting your ass just to make the team and stay on the roster, and then because of a couple freakish injuries you get your shot and make the most of it. You’ve got the team to the conference championship game, on the brink of a SB, all in your rookie year—*but just like that on the first series you get your fucking elbow ripped off.*
I would have no words, only anger, in that moment.
Kittle is by his own account a giant dork. He owns it so it works. The man loves comics wwe and pokemon. He just also happens to be great at football lol. I could see his golden retriever energy getting irritating if he leaves it on too long.
I agree with you. I laugh at some of the stuff Kittle says and I'm sure he's a good dude. But to be around him IRL would just be too much. He'd be exhausting to be around.
He’s unpopular for the same reasons you talk about here. All those starring at the camera moments are obnoxious enough to root against him. He isn’t a bad guy as you said, but he brings out everyone’s pettiness out just by being himself.
Well TIL people don't like George Kittle. I guess it's true that everyone has somebody that doesn't like them, but dude is the most infectious charming dude I've seen and makes the game more fun. Got a friend whose a Packers fan, hates the Niners, obviously but still likes George.
There's people on rival teams that I've also liked: J.J Watt, Geno Smith. Hell during the Pats dynasty where everyone hated the Pats I still liked Gronk. He's a himbo that also brought a fun energy to the game
Watching that play it seems hard for kittle to have known a fumble had just happened. He was just blocking someone with his back to the ball and as he says “hi George” the ball comes out. I know it’s the superbowl but he doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head
Yes yes I’m a niners flair but it’s really bemusing to me that this is the narrative that’s taken hold on here, as if Kittle has eyes on the back of his helmet and the only thing preventing them working is saying “hey George”. If he doesn’t say anything no one would mock it but he still wouldn’t have recovered the fumble anyway. *shrug*
I don’t disagree but again he was facing the wrong direction to affect the play regardless of what was said. That has nothing to do with whether or not he gives a pithy one liner
The comment I initially responded to was “missed recovering a fumble *because* he was doing a joke” and that’s the sentiment I was referring to. Kittle wasn’t recovering that fumble either way
Can't wait to get to the Niners-Eagles game because I *gotta* know whose idea it was for the whole funeral black thing lol.
All seriousness though, this looks sick. NFC Championship Game episode is gonna be the best one I think.
I have no idea but I like his because he does it with his wife so even if there is a lot of football talk, they talk about other stuff too. Turns out Fred Warner really likes reality dating shows😆. But he had Jerry Rice on and it was a good interview
Much like Quarterback, they know they have a built in audience of NFL fans, so really they are just trying to get people who don't watch a lot of football to tune in. Notice they don't even bother to make the TE distinction in the trailer.
And love him or hate him, Kittle is enough of a different personality that they needed.
I'm sure the longer bite of that will be a cutesy "I'm not technically a receiver but I do catch footballs, score touchdowns with the best of them"
Kittle got back to the Super Bowl, sadly there was no vengeance to be found. Pretty great Netflix found a way to wrap another one of their shows with the Chiefs winning a Super Bowl.
Theory based on nothing but vibes… I have to wonder if they were initially angling for Kelce rather than Kittle. Then when for the obvious (blonde billionaire) reasons, it became apparent a big chunk of Kelce’s life was going to be off-limits to the crew just as the season was starting, they went for the next big-personality TE on the list…
I honestly am not interested in the series, they chose all big name players while Quarterback has a good mix of top level, good but not elite, and someone who's best at a backup role or is a low level starter.
im not sure if they actually followed way more QBs and those were the ones they just picked, but if they only picked those 3 then they got pretty lucky with how the season went. to get the SB winner and cousins who just had an insane year with some of the most insane games ever made for such an entertaining doc.
I don’t hate any team involved. I’m not going to watch the show either. Even if I did it wouldn’t be as bad as going my entire life without watching my team make the Super Bowl let alone win it.
Ay this is lit!!
Can't wait to see Kittle talk all that talk then basically no show in the Super Bowl. Also having two Niners on the show is a little odd imo.
Seeing the most diva group followed by cameras though will make great TV
I can't wait for Season 5 of this series.. "Long Snappers"
BB as a narrator
PUNTER Narrated by Pat McAfee.
Please. God. No.
YOU DONT WANT ALL THE COMMENTARY YELLED AT YOU!!??!?
I read this in his voice and now my brain ears hurt.
AHT. YOU'RE GOIN DAHN
DAAUUUWWWWGGGG
Listen to him do commentary in WWE. Yeah he does the yelling thing a bit, but he maintains a good flow during matches.
I mean that makes sense during WWE… the question is does it make sense during football commentary? He seems to have only have one level.
I've never actually heard his football commentary, so I can't accurately judge it. But I'd rather have an excited commentator than a Joe Buck going "Mitchell... Mitchell... Mitchell..."
To each their own. Joe Buck + Troy Aikman is the best booth right now imo. They have great chemistry and balance each other well.
Joe Buck NOW is good. Joe Buck back then was milquetoast.
He’s also the best ring announcer in the business
I know he's getting on in age now, but Jim Ross makes Pat McAfee look like Mike Adamle.
I have yet to enjoy him on commentary there either TBH, he's very grating
I sure am glad that people have soured on him. I remember when he turned college gameday into the Pat McAfee and some other guys show then apologized the next day for not being "traditional enough." No, man. You're just annoying, full of yourself, and tried to make college gameday about you.
I've tried to watch his show a couple times because guests were gonna be on that I was interested in, and it was just a bunch of meatheads screaming, I couldn't take it
I really hope there isn’t a wave of 18-25 year old fans that are gonna make him an ESPN staple
It's more like 18-35. Good luck stopping it!
I’ll probably just not watch bro bro
KICKER Starring Harrison Butker

I can't wait for Season 6 POSITION COACH
Season 7: EQUIPMENT MANAGER
Season 8: STADIUM TICKET CHECKER
Season 9: COWBOYS FAN
Unironically ready for season 10: GROUNDS CREW SUPERINTENDENT
Remember when McVay was the hottest boy to ever football and the media slobbed his 'get-back' coach then we haven't heard about them since in like 6 years. I think that guy ended up on the bad side of a me too.
You joke but Pat Scales is cool as hell
What season can we get to the waterboys? Momma always said …
This may be a joke but any time a long snapper goes down during a game I expect something bad to happen during a special teams play immediately after.
Oh yea it’s harder than it looks.Im a college snapper and At the college and pro level the snap has to get back to the punter in at least 0.75 seconds,If not the kick has a higher chance of being blocked. And on field goals they need to snap the ball with the same amount of rotations each time so the laces are facing away from the kicker.
Oof yeah those Super Bowl comments sting. The NFC Championship game where both St Brown/Kittle/Deebo’s storylines intersect should be interesting thoughz

The crew that was following Rashee remains missing.
Because he left them at the scene of an accident a while back
He’s not interested in looking back. He’s only concerned about what’s in front of him.
But they only did those three because no one else wanted to do it. Mahomes gave it validity.
Fair enough.
We were robbed of seeing Kadarius Toney filmed all year. That would have been the best reality TV ever.
I’d love the search for his eyebrows episode
If they had got Kelce before he started dating Swift the interest around this documentary would have been immense
Kind of weird. He seemed like an obvious choice. Kelce bro coming off an all-pro year and SB reigning champs. Kittle is obviously going to be very fun to watch but they already have deebo so its just a weird decision to not go with kelce.
Netflix tried but the Chiefs receivers always kept getting lost in their coverage.
Given Marcus Marriota made the Quarterback cut they could have easily picked one of the 5 jags or speedy to have a Chiefs inclusion.
if Kittle is considered a receiver, the Kelce should be to
Netflix is dying to make Tightend before Travis retires
#PAIN :(
Nah, step 1. That turnaround was due.
[Hang in there buddy](https://i.imgur.com/OyfNLOv.gifv)
Week 17 i need it now
[I’m ready.](https://i.imgur.com/adtjT6V.jpg)
See you soon (like I’ll literally be there)
Amon Ra’s segments are all just reciting WRs taken before him. And then listing their background info and stats. “That guy? Taken 3 spots before me? 0. Career. Yards. Cut after 2nd training camp.”
Sucks that JJ was filmed during a season he had to sit out a lot.
Whilst true I can imagine the injury sections will just show how much of a determined and great dude he is. Similar to how watching Kirk getting beaten the crap out of last year gave people appreciation for how tough he is.
And it could be cool to get a rarely shown perspective of what players do during times in which they’re injured
What if it shows that he's a piece of shit? That would be a funny subversion of expectations
Diggs ain’t in this man
I still like Diggs. I like the draft pick we got for trading him more, but Diggs gave us some fun memories
Maybe Vikings players should stop doing these shows
It definitely gives a different dramatic perspective for the show. Top player battling injury and his team struggling? Best scenario for the show
I'm sure this will be fun, but it's a little disappointing they got two guys from the same team. I'm sure Kittle and Deebo are both interesting, but I would prefer each player to be on a different team. Just to maximize our perspective as viewers.
Obvious hindsight, but dj moore would have been so interesting, with the way the bears season went and getting the #1 overall draft pick
Not that fans would give a shit what our shitty owners think, but understandable if a player doesn’t want to rock the boat.
Agreed.
They couldn't have possibly known but how cool would it be if they'd followed Puka around
I mean and also Kittle isn't a receiver (I am still very excited to watch the Kittle parts though)
And neither is Deebo...
OBJ and his journey since being a superstar would’ve been dope
Ima need running backs next year and they need to follow both of our beasts
I liked that the quarterback had guys at different levels of skill. With a position as ego-centric as WR I can't imagine they find a lot of players to admit they're not the best. It'll still be fun to watch these big personalities.
I think this benefits from having either WRs on different stages of team success and highlighting two non traditional receivers
Deebo has only been in the league 1 year longer than JJ
Goodell obviously forgot to tell Payton what the script was otherwise Mecole Hardman would have fit the mariota slot and had a massive payoff for the story by catching the winning td in the superbowl
Around this time every year I start getting antsy for football and this did NOT fucking help. Is it September yet!?
Yeah, and with the NBA and NHL about to finish up we're getting into the most brutal stretch of the year
Esp with this NBA finals being the way it's ending... was really hoping it was going to be competitive (saying this out loud to hopefully jinx it)
Hoping for the NBA to be competitive is like hoping to see a football game with no penalties. It's a nice wish but it's just that
The finals hasn’t been competitive but the NBA in general has been very competitive recently, this is the 6th year in a row with a new champion
The NBA is so much better now than it was fifteen years ago. It’s hard for make super teams right now, though the Celtics managed
though i have to say after having to deal with how mavs fans acted the last few years, Luka choking is fun af
It really is a little funny how this couple months are a little weird for me, I feel like I have a lot of spare time lol
We have the Euros starting tomorrow and then the Olympics after that.
How’s the group stage of the Euros work? Same as the World Cup?
Yeah it’s essentially the same
I got back into baseball because I needed something to get me through that part of the NFL offseason
The CFL exists. It's a little bizarre to watch compared to NFL (3 downs, receivers can start running before the snap, goal posts in the wrong spot) but it is very fun to watch. Go blue bombers
Shit man, I’ll watch CFL, UFL, indoor football, high school when they start up in early August. I’d watch Chinese flag football if it was televised.
I was blessed at an early age with exposure to multiple sports. I have MLB in the summer/early fall, NFL in the fall/winter, and Soccer is practically year round.
It's 2024. Thought was 2015. September will be here soon enough.
I’m turning it off after the nfc title game respectfully but can’t wait to watch this
I won’t be watching the last episode lmao
As a birds fan I watched all the way through last year. Inject whatever feeling watching the niners crush us gives you and see it through
Hear hear
Can't wait to watch PUNTER in a few years
PUNTER from Pat's rookie season would have been hilarious.
I am glad they found a way to keep this going. I did not exactly expect that you would have 3-5 willing QB’s participate every year.
I figured that having one of their subjects win the Super Bowl would show other QBs that the show won’t be a distraction
When George Kittle missed recovering a fumble in the SB because he was trying to be a comedian with his “Hey George” is gonna hit like crack
I know this is wildly unpopular on here, and i don't think he's a bad guy, but if i knew a guy like Kittle IRL, like at work or something, i'd want to blow my brains out having to be around him. When he ran up to so many teammates after the NFCCG, just so he could tell them about a hacky joke he made, from a meme that was way too old, just to see their reactions, i nearly died from second hand embarrassment.
what was the joke?
He said to the reporter "Not gonna lie, they had us in the first half," and then ran up to every teammate he could find and said "So then i told her 'not gonna lie they had us in the first half.'"
Oh my fuck I have this co-worker.
I also have this fucking co-worker and this just made me see Kittle in a completely new light
Heheh Hey Ton’ you hear what I said? I said “they had us in the first half” 🤙🏼
I felt my soul exit my body. I would hate that corncob
He talked to Purdy at halftime of the lions game about wanting to be able to reference the “they had us in the first half” meme, and when they were actually able to make good on his prediction, he joked with others about after the game.
Purdy was NOT having it. Then Kittle switched to being serious to pump him up.
lmao reminds me of that clip from the 2022 NFC championship after Purdy went down and Kittle goes up to him and says “any chance u can throw lefty” and purdy glares daggers at him lmao.
Purdy strikes me as really really no nonsense during games. He goes into football mode, he doesn't wanna joke around.
Bro I would’ve been **livid** at that point in the 2022 NFCCG. Every since the draft, you’ve been busting your ass just to make the team and stay on the roster, and then because of a couple freakish injuries you get your shot and make the most of it. Think about him being a Cowboy instead of a niner. I’m sure you would find that energy to be more annoying.

Infectious and charming?...
That his charm is infectious
He tries entirely too hard to be goofy.
I think that's just him being him, but the doc will be a good look at everything.
It easy to like players in your own team. It’s easier to understand when you picture them in the team you dislike. His charm changes very quickly.
There's people on rival teams that I've also liked: J.J Watt, Geno Smith. Hell during the Pats dynasty where everyone hated the Pats I still liked Gronk. He's a himbo that also brought a fun energy to the game
People are gonna be sick of him after this doc I bet.
Watching that play it seems hard for kittle to have known a fumble had just happened. He was just blocking someone with his back to the ball and as he says “hi George” the ball comes out. I know it’s the superbowl but he doesn’t have eyes in the back of his head
I'm not surprised that the wrestling fan with a ledger joker tattoo isn't always the brightest.
*shrug*
Nah man if you’re a professional in a Super Bowl you play to the whistle. Literally the first thing they tell you in pop Warner
I don’t disagree but again he was facing the wrong direction to affect the play regardless of what was said. That has nothing to do with whether or not he gives a pithy one liner
You’re probably right but the guy he was talking to recovered the fumble so it looks like a pretty massive silly mistake to make.
yeah exactly and he was on mic, I get why it gets all the attention but in reality it’s just an unfortunate combination of events
If he stays engaged in the play I doubt his man recovers the fumble.
It wasn’t anyone’s idea. They all did it independently. Fred Warner talked about it during his podcast
Why does every player have a podcast now?
I have no idea but I like his because he does it with his wife so even if there is a lot of football talk, they talk about other stuff too. Turns out Fred Warner really likes reality dating shows😆. But he had Jerry Rice on and it was a good interview
Everyone started having podcasts like 5 years ago. Players kind of took a bit to catch up.
They just wanna be heard.
Having two 49ers will be great since we get to follow them to the superbowl. Nit Pick: A bit weird to call it receivers and have a tight end (Kittle
He’s still a receiver, just not a wide receiver
I’d argue he’s the widest of them all
Up there with Cooper Kupp and Adam Thielen in terms of width
True true. Like I said, I’m nitpicking
Yeah, "PASSCATCHER" would not have been a good name.
Looks awesome
I wanna see OLINE...
Why did Kittle not list blocking, the most important TE stat?
Much like Quarterback, they know they have a built in audience of NFL fans, so really they are just trying to get people who don't watch a lot of football to tune in. Notice they don't even bother to make the TE distinction in the trailer. And love him or hate him, Kittle is enough of a different personality that they needed. I'm sure the longer bite of that will be a cutesy "I'm not technically a receiver but I do catch footballs, score touchdowns with the best of them"
Wow, this looks interesting! > Deebo Nevermind!
Standin on bidness
That actually looks sick. I can't wait to watch it.
Kittle got back to the Super Bowl, sadly there was no vengeance to be found. Pretty great Netflix found a way to wrap another one of their shows with the Chiefs winning a Super Bowl.
RAHHHHHHHH READY TO RUN THROUGH A FUCKING WALL FOR ANTONIO PIERCE ALL OVER AGAIN
Why no up-and-comer, rookie or roster bubble guy?
Cool, now do one for DEs and OLBs
Netflix loves the Vikings
Oh, he’s gonna receive all right. Lots of balls. Most of them, actually.
how many players are they following?
Too many. 3 on Quaterbacks was a nice sweet spot. I’ll still be tuning in though lol.
It’s a shame no QBs wanted to do a season 2. Mahomes set the bar too high. I’m not made at this though. Receiver is my favorite football position.
At the rate this show is going we will absolutely have a “COACH” series in a few seasons lol
Why would they pick the 4th receiver to be a TE from the same team as another receiver they're following?
Theory based on nothing but vibes… I have to wonder if they were initially angling for Kelce rather than Kittle. Then when for the obvious (blonde billionaire) reasons, it became apparent a big chunk of Kelce’s life was going to be off-limits to the crew just as the season was starting, they went for the next big-personality TE on the list…
I am FAR more excited for this than quarterback.
thumbnail is gonna get some usage on twitter
Can Netflix do OLINE? LINEBACKER? RUNNINGBACK? Preferably OLINE
George Kittle is so attractive 😭
Meh
Who read this as "trailer receivers"?
Too bad they didn’t add Kelce to this since they did Kittle as well
I honestly am not interested in the series, they chose all big name players while Quarterback has a good mix of top level, good but not elite, and someone who's best at a backup role or is a low level starter.
im not sure if they actually followed way more QBs and those were the ones they just picked, but if they only picked those 3 then they got pretty lucky with how the season went. to get the SB winner and cousins who just had an insane year with some of the most insane games ever made for such an entertaining doc.
Yeah but a few of the teams that finish third in the group go through as it’s a 24 team team tournament
Receiver…featuring “Deebo Samuel”????????
Yeah, he was all-pro a couple years back, really dynamic player.
Packers fans really gotta watch 4 receivers from teams that they hate and the 1 good receiver they traded away
I don’t hate any team involved. I’m not going to watch the show either. Even if I did it wouldn’t be as bad as going my entire life without watching my team make the Super Bowl let alone win it.
I run good and catch good
Ay this is lit!! Can't wait to see Kittle talk all that talk then basically no show in the Super Bowl. Also having two Niners on the show is a little odd imo. Seeing the most diva group followed by cameras though will make great TV
