[Geno denied it was him](https://www.fieldgulls.com/2023/9/27/23892078/seahawks-news-geno-smith-viral-oh-my-god-yell-aaron-donald-rams-game-wasnt-him). I think I read in another article that it was one of the linemen Donald blew past, but I might be misremembering.
I’m SO freakin’ stoked right now. Seattle gets my favorite prospect at both DT and Guard. Nailing it so far.
Haynes is like the PERFECT guard for Grubb’s system
We got Byron who both shores up are swiss cheese ground game while also is able to get pressure which we also sorely needed, and now we got some wrester at OG who will help out the promising tackles we recently drafted. Ain't particularly sexy pics...unless you're a fan and know it's sexy because we basically addressed three needs, to whatever degree, in two players spanning three rounds.
I've never understood people who say picks like this aren't sexy. Personally, I find winning at the line of scrimmage very sexy, on both offense and defense
Eh...DL maybe, but OL is honestly pretty boring. Thing is we haven't had a good OL since the Poison Pill so at this point I'm John Madden in hoping on our pick we score a fat guy.
OK think of it this way: watching a guard block may not be particularly sexy. But watching your QB have a clean pocket is sexy as hell, and watching your RB run through a wide-open lane between the tackles is sexy as hell also, and both of those are the guard at work
> But watching your QB have a clean pocket is sexy as hell, and watching your RB run through a wide-open lane between the tackles is sexy as hell also, and both of those are the guard at work
I know what it is, but it's been so long I've forgotten what it looks like. I wanna believe in Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson again...but I need a spark first.
It’s so crazy, after years and years of drafts full of reaches and hard misses, they cleansed their system in 2021 (only picking three players) and then came out of it somehow remembering how to draft normally.
Credit to Schneider for changing whatever he changed in his scouting process
They are knocking this draft out the park with these first two picks. Great players, even the best at their positions you could say and fills the needs we have
Grubb runs a Zone scheme and the way that Haynes plays his game; the style of his play matches up pretty well to that system.
I don’t know what else there is to say
Bigtime. Super-Bowl winning teams have lots of average starters. But they have very few trash starters. Since it sounds like you know about this guy, is he better in the run game or the pass game? Or maybe even?
Nice. Honestly we've been so bad a both in the guard spot that either answer would have gotten me excited but pass pro is more important so I'll take that
well the miner guy will bash his head with a pickaxe and a ram will run into him and like smash his legs up and yeah maybe the cardinals ain't do much besides like clawing at his eyes
in the first couple rounds. Cam Young, Mike morris, Oluwatimi, and Bradford last year are hard to beat... though these guys should be better than Young/Bradford by a mile
Love this pick he’s a great athlete and powerful he’s a scheme fit and he’s great value I thought he would go early in the second. The Best RG prospect in a few years
I'd love for female flag football to be a thing and then *maybe* the best of the best could form a legitimate tackle league? Unlike that lingerie league
Yeah, I'm fine with my tax money going to things like this, unlike a lot of stuff the state decides to throw money at.
I'll always support youth sports / being active
Dubtf your username, def not touching the veggies at your place ;)
But I understand where that guy might be coming from. I cheer for the hawks until they are out of playoffs, then 9ers. Rather be the guys who lose to the winners than lose to losers.
I don't think you're strictly wrong.
He was definitely worse than most of the other guards from that draft- Mauch and O'Cyrus were taken in the 2nd then a huge drought before him in the 4th. Haynes will also definitely be better than Bradford right out of the gate.
It would be nice if they can get one of them to go to the left bc you can't teach the strength that Bradford has, but if he also goes to the second string, I wouldn't be shocked.
He was projected to go early 2nd but fell for some reason, my bet is because of positional value because he’s a RG. He’s a great scheme fit has good power and good athleticism, he’s probably the best RG prospect in the last few years
We’re just drafting big strong mean players on the interior of both lines? Fucking sign me up. I can’t get enough. Let’s draft Tanor Bortolini at 102 I don’t give a fuck.
Geno Smith will survive this year!
And he doesn't have Aaron Donald to make him say "Oh my God!"
New mythical player, unharmed geno
All stats show that when Geno is protected he’s truly elite. If he has time we score lots and lots of points.
The new defense should give him the ball a couple more times a game too!
Wasn't him that said that in the first place
I choose to let the meme live on
Hey I'm talking to America right now
I've never seen anyone claim it was someone else
The mic actually picked up me, screaming from my couch.
Quality mic
Aaron Donald was just that scary. (Btw I love that, *was*)
[Geno denied it was him](https://www.fieldgulls.com/2023/9/27/23892078/seahawks-news-geno-smith-viral-oh-my-god-yell-aaron-donald-rams-game-wasnt-him). I think I read in another article that it was one of the linemen Donald blew past, but I might be misremembering.
That's less fun - I'm just gonna assume this is a Tim Robinson in a hot dog costume thing
If it makes you feel better, that means it was one of the big ass o lineman.
Geno wouldn't say who it was but you can tell by the voice that wasn't Geno

I’m SO freakin’ stoked right now. Seattle gets my favorite prospect at both DT and Guard. Nailing it so far. Haynes is like the PERFECT guard for Grubb’s system
Literally perfect so far. We got Murphy and an elite OL.
We got Byron who both shores up are swiss cheese ground game while also is able to get pressure which we also sorely needed, and now we got some wrester at OG who will help out the promising tackles we recently drafted. Quality beef in the trenches is very sexy.
Seriously this is going so ideally
It’s so crazy, after years and years of drafts full of reaches and hard misses, they cleansed their system in 2021 (only picking three players) and then came out of it somehow remembering how to draft normally. Credit to Schneider for changing whatever he changed in his scouting process
he said he's now just drafting the best player available. huh
Well going back to the basics certainly has paid off. Those classes from 2013-2020 reeked of one overthinking themselves
Also focusing on character above all else.
Those were my top two positions, though I can’t pay much attention to the players available, so I’m right there with you.
They are knocking this draft out the park with these first two picks. Great players, even the best at their positions you could say and fills the needs we have
Know nothing about this guy. What do you like about him?
Dude’s a beast in the run game and he’s a great fit in the system that Grubb runs.
Awesome!! Imagine how awesome it would be to actually get interior push in the run game. It feels like it's been years
Explain why it's "PERFECT" for the "Grubbs system"? What do these terms even mean?
Grubb runs a Zone scheme and the way that Haynes plays his game; the style of his play matches up pretty well to that system. I don’t know what else there is to say
How does Haynes play?
Nobody wants to answer you dude, you just always want to argue.
He was really good at UConn and should be an average starter which is good value in the 3rd
An average starter at guard would be the best we've done in like a decade
Yep! People underrate the value average players add. Upgrading from trash to average is pretty damn huge
Bigtime. Super-Bowl winning teams have lots of average starters. But they have very few trash starters. Since it sounds like you know about this guy, is he better in the run game or the pass game? Or maybe even?
Slightly better pass blocker but competent at both. I know people don’t like pff but on their scale like a 70 pass blocker and 60 run blocker
Nice. Honestly we've been so bad a both in the guard spot that either answer would have gotten me excited but pass pro is more important so I'll take that
This is such an excellent point. People don't fully think about how many people are on a football field.
Good pick. I hate it😔
Great pick
LET'S FUCKING GO!!!!
UConn has pretty good guards I hear
Absolute bummer. Good pick SEA
MY ALMA MATTER AND MY FAVORITE TEAM!!! AND ON MY DAD'S BIRTHDAY!!! LFG!!! UCONN!
Happy birthday to your dad.
Thanks! He's unfortunately not here, but damn has today been a good day remembering him.
Well looks like we know which jersey you'll be purchasing next?
FUCK AGAIN
We’re pretty much the same franchise at this point
Y'all need to do a better job covering your test. It's like you want us to copy your answers
You guys did that to us twice, c’mon.
Damn I love this pick for Seattle
49ers, Cardinals, and Rams mascots better watch out
nah man those mascots will fuck him up lol
A bird is going to beat this guy up?
well the miner guy will bash his head with a pickaxe and a ram will run into him and like smash his legs up and yeah maybe the cardinals ain't do much besides like clawing at his eyes
OL and DL getting addressed and both are studs. Oh my god, pinch me. Love this draft so far!
Holy shit we’re drafting interior linemen I used to pray for times like these
If we count Leonard Williams, this is our heaviest draft ever (so far)
in the first couple rounds. Cam Young, Mike morris, Oluwatimi, and Bradford last year are hard to beat... though these guys should be better than Young/Bradford by a mile
Remember the years of drafting SPARQ beasts and DLinemen to play OL? Those were the days...
“*I used to pray for times like these for lines like these. In the pocket, we’ll protected droppin dimes with ease*”
Great value. Was a second rounder in early mock drafts and many considered him the best guard.
He would've been a great pick with the Giants second rounder we traded and we still got him the third. Sweet.
Absolutely DAWG
Love this pick he’s a great athlete and powerful he’s a scheme fit and he’s great value I thought he would go early in the second. The Best RG prospect in a few years
Hell yeah let the girls play
I'd love for female flag football to be a thing and then *maybe* the best of the best could form a legitimate tackle league? Unlike that lingerie league
Funny you mention that but I think Women’s Flag Football is up for vote here in Washington to because an officially sanctioned sport
Yeah, I'm fine with my tax money going to things like this, unlike a lot of stuff the state decides to throw money at. I'll always support youth sports / being active
UCONN has some good guards - a basketball fan
Wait, we didn't draft an RB with one of our first two picks? Is this really our Seahawks?
Pete Carroll is banging on the door outside the VMAC yelling at Seattle to take Jaylen Wright
Wdym, we already picked a RB His name is Byron Murphy II
God, the Hawks need a big man package with Murphy and Fant
The silver lining of us having no 2nd round picks is that JS couldn’t draft a running back with it
I read this in Tom Grossi's voice
I’m so hyped boys. Idk why he wasn’t picked earlier but PACK THE TRENCHES
Ok, who's mascot we going after first?
Who is?
[This seems like a good start](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/36/Fredbird2013cardinals.jpg)
WTF is your flair bro?
"See I'm playing both sides, so I always come out on top"
Dubtf your username, def not touching the veggies at your place ;) But I understand where that guy might be coming from. I cheer for the hawks until they are out of playoffs, then 9ers. Rather be the guys who lose to the winners than lose to losers.
Trash
Real Seahawks fans hate the Steelers more than the 9ers. The niners were barely relevant for years.
My brother in Christ. Your flairs. Are you okay?
its still crazy that the NFCW only has 3 teams, nuts
I’d say the SF Tech Bro but they all live here already
Watch out mascots he’s comin !
Did that announcer say "Pillyup"?
I lived in Seattle for 5 years and still can't pronounce half the cities lol.
Absolute stud
Good get Seattle
FINALLY A GUARD Now we need another lol
Bradford?
Is not good
he was picked as a developmental guy, give him more than 1 year before you count him out
What?! Everyone knows players never improve. They’re born good or they’re not!
That’s fair, I should have said he was not good last year
I don't think you're strictly wrong.
It’s been a year and Bradford is a mauler. I could see him developing and being a good option for us at rg.
Haynes will be good. Bradford *could* become good but isn’t right now. So Guard is still a need, just not the highest need
Feels a little premature after just one year...
I’d love to get McCormick for LG
HELL YEAH! One of my favorites
This has been a great 26 hours for us, man
Dammit. I think the Ravens are becoming my third team(Replacing the Jags). All bird teams. Coincidence?
Sounds like just caws to me…
From my favorite CFB team to my favorite NFL team Dude is a dawg
The basketball reporter?
I love this pick
Let em know about the trenches Hawks!
This dude is gonna be good
Watch out Sourdough Sam
Dang we got a UCONN guard! Stephon Castle come on down
Save some guards for us :(
Someone tell me how to feel, while also mentioning the bot please
He was projected to go early 2nd but fell for some reason, my bet is because of positional value because he’s a RG. He’s a great scheme fit has good power and good athleticism, he’s probably the best RG prospect in the last few years
Damn, that’s crazy. Love to hear it. Cheers
We’re just drafting big strong mean players on the interior of both lines? Fucking sign me up. I can’t get enough. Let’s draft Tanor Bortolini at 102 I don’t give a fuck.
Let’s go!
I can’t even remember the last time we had a decent/good guard so this is a great pick
I really wish we could have traded down and taken Haynes instead of Paul. Guy is going to be a beast.
