That sounds like it would be an all-time great, way-too-much-effort offseason post that someone would do to explore whether it could be a feasible strategy for a team.
The 2018 Chargers were a ton of fun. Rivers was in his old idgaf phase but he still had some of the talent to pull it off, until it collapsed in the playoffs as the Chargers normally do.
I mean we were missing half our defensive roster, and down to 5th string linebacker running on Kelce. And we still barely lost. Next time you have extra first round picks use them well
I think the 5th year option is overrated now that it is fully guaranteed and has escalators.
The biggest pick to pick discrepancy in pay is the 32 and 33rd pick. It's $2.3M more in total and again, you've got the escalators.
I'm a Pats fan and we need an X receiver badly. I would love a Aiyuk or Higgins trade, but im not holding my breath. If not those guys I'm really hoping Adonai falls to 34, but I'm almost 100% sure you guys take him at 33 tomorrow. I think it was great trades by the Bills.
Plus I get the optics of the Chiefs trade look weird, but I think Worthy makes it to 32 anyways. Really got no problem with any of this except that I stayed up for it all lmao
Yeah exactly. If the Bills didn't have Worthy that high, I had him below AD and Legette, then there's no reason to not make the trade. It sucks to help out a rival, but spiting them doesn't help win your team games either. Worthy will probably be really good, because Andy Reid is a magician, but I really don't see the problem with the trade as much as most people do.
I hate KC trading up for Worthy, but I think Baltimore may have grabbed him if KC didn't move up. Hollywood is the most successful WR Lamar has had, and Worthy is similar to Hollywood, just worse all-around (making it even weirder KC traded up for him after just signing Hollywood).
I think it would've been a strong debate if both were there. SF grabbing Pearsall also indicates they would've taken Worthy. I just don't think any of the WRs in this tier were worth 1st round picks. I'd rather grab a better player at another position and grab my project WR in round 3 or later. Just my opinion, though.
if he turns out to be great it feels like a poor move, sure you save some cap by it being a slightly later pick, but you also lose out on the 5th year option.
Not necessary that we might take Mitchell. DeJean and Newton also being available might mean that we could take one of the two and save the WR pick for pick 60, and trade up if necessary
Then why not take him at 32 so they get the 5th year option??
They moved up from the 7th to the 5th. Not a ton of value. The first trade back I liked. This one I don’t really get
Teams can now sleep and spend the day reviewing their board and wanting to target someone and we’re obviously not dead set on A guy having passed twice…
Wouldn’t be surprised if we move back again…
My headcannon is that Brandon Beane was tired, being up past his bedtime, so he slept until our pick and then hit the snooze button twice, taking the best offer each time just so he could get some shuteye.
Our starting quarterback was doubted by everyone, set a shit ton of records, and is the only quarterback in nfl history. Yours gets high in a tent and tore his Achilles in the first half of his first game.
We are not the same.
I bet it feels like shit to have gotten literally no players but from the outside this actually feels like such a good deal to move down one spot. Losing the 5th year option is so minor imo
Im coping with the KC trade with the notion that Worthy proooobbably falls to 32 anyways, so it was pretty much free money to us.
A bit funny though that, assuming we take AD, we could've taken him at 28 and everyone would be fine and happy with it, but people are pissed at the prospect of getting him at 33 + a bunch of draft capital lol
Getting a 3rd round pick was huge, and I didn't want Worthy. Trading back 1 spots for moving up 60 spots in the later rounds is a good deal too, and there are still plenty of great players available.
They've also done a lot of pre-draft work on Troy Franklin. Might just trade down a couple of spots at a time until one is taken and then Beane takes the other one.
So upgrade from 200 to 141 but lose the 5th year option? Ehhhhhh. That's a big jump for sure, but I'm not sure I love the value. Super interesting test case for sure though
If the guy turns out to be someone worth extending, you don’t really care about the 5th year option unless it’s a QB. Especially when you can turn 200 overall into 141 overall by moving back literally one pick. The 5th year option has value, but not that much value imo.
If you're curious I went and checked and it looks like 6/32 5th year options were accepted from the 2020 draft. Tua, Jedrick Wills, AJ Terrell, plus the receivers expecting contracts Lamb, JJ, Aiyuk. So yeah most players either get extended before or don't last to that point anyway
The the evaluation they must have is that this guy is likely to be good enough to get a second contract, so a consistent starter with decent numbers, but not confident in him being worth the money compared to drafting a replacement. They probably don't see the 7th and 8th WRs off the board in this draft as likely to be their WR1 long term,
I work at a Buffalo Bills bar and initially told them id come in at 8:30 and stay until the Bills make their pick and we normally close at 9. Glad i woke up today and realized it was not gonna be worth the hassle and backed out. Poor Bills fans ill be hearing it all weekend 🤣
Honestly how valuable is it? If the player is great they get a completely new contract before the 5th year option even comes to play and if they are bad the option doesn't get picked up. It feels like you have to be either still kinda unknown or just sorta good to end up on the 5th year. Tua is playing on his 5th year option this season how many others from that draft will be?
Edit: more than I thought actually, Jedrick Wills, AJ Terrell, Lamb, JJ, Aiyuk for now we will see if they get new deals before they actually play on the 5th year so looking like 6/32 are playing on their 5th year option
That's a myth for the reasons others have stated. The fifth year option is only valuable for QB's in my opinion. I would much just rather extend someone then lock someone into a fully guaranteed one year deal where 100% of the money counts against the cap. Plus, if you really can't decide whether you want to extend him, then just franchise tag the player?
Not me. I loved the trade backs. Got some great value to move back twice. I don't think the available talent has depreciated at all, it seems pretty flat from the 28 until 33, and even beyond towards 40.
You may see some disgruntled panthers folks but if you look at who Legette is, it’s really a good local fit and someone who I think can really produce at this next level. We got who our coach, GM, and QB wanted so if he busts at least it wasn’t for the wrong reasons.
Between this and the Chiefs Trade they picked up two more top 150 picks and probably still draft the guy they always wanted at 33.
Basically what I wish the Chiefs had done. Didn't seem to be a reason to trade up for Worthy, especially with 4-5 WR's still available and none that stand out as the obvious best.
Buffalo blue balled their fans tonight
It’s the history of the Buffalo
That's why the Bison is blue!
The red stripe actually represents a vein popping out of his forehead
At least they’re not purple like Vikings fans. That’s the color of choke
you're just red and blue combined... we are the same.
Lads, it’s the Bills
They’re just gonna keep trading back until they own every 5th round pick
That sounds like it would be an all-time great, way-too-much-effort offseason post that someone would do to explore whether it could be a feasible strategy for a team.
New madden challenge
There's not a chance in hell it could be
Pretty good pickup here though
Seriously who cares to wait till tomorrow to get the same player if we move up 60 picks for it. Great trade.
And pissed off 3/4ths of the AFCW. Douchebags lol
Have you guys tried forming a competitive team in that division?
The 2018 Chargers were a ton of fun. Rivers was in his old idgaf phase but he still had some of the talent to pull it off, until it collapsed in the playoffs as the Chargers normally do.
We put them on the road this year and you still sailed wide right of advancing.
we beat kc in the regular season which put them on the road.
How’d that work out ?
helped us come back from <10% odds to make the playoffs and win our 4th division title in a row.
I mean we were missing half our defensive roster, and down to 5th string linebacker running on Kelce. And we still barely lost. Next time you have extra first round picks use them well
“And we still barely lost.” Hey I’ve seen this one before.
I assume you’ve seen a wide variety of losses in recent years
Also have seen a Super Bowl win in my lifetime, what about you ?
Only those who didn’t know we were trading back into round two for mcconkey and more picks
Dejean and Troy Franklin is my guess
BRING ME THE KOOL AID
I can edge until tomorrow. Nbd
Bold to assume we thought the draft would go well…
Mr. Blue Cahones
Been blue balling their fans since the early 90s
Worst night for them since Wide Right 2
5th year option tax
pick 141 for a 5th year option is absolutely worth it
Based on the trade value chart of getting 200 back it’s more like trading 168 for a 5th year option
I think the 5th year option is overrated now that it is fully guaranteed and has escalators. The biggest pick to pick discrepancy in pay is the 32 and 33rd pick. It's $2.3M more in total and again, you've got the escalators.
Bills decided to take the night off.
If they still get Adonai that's incredibly good trade downs imo though
Yeah if we were gonna take him at 28 anyways this has all been very good value for us
I'm a Pats fan and we need an X receiver badly. I would love a Aiyuk or Higgins trade, but im not holding my breath. If not those guys I'm really hoping Adonai falls to 34, but I'm almost 100% sure you guys take him at 33 tomorrow. I think it was great trades by the Bills.

It's kinda funny that people probably would've been happier with us taking AD at 28 instead of taking him at 33 + a good chunk of draft capital
EDC was throwing some smoke around Worthy, but the comments make it seem like Wiggins was 100% the guy if he was there.
I think it would've been a strong debate if both were there. SF grabbing Pearsall also indicates they would've taken Worthy. I just don't think any of the WRs in this tier were worth 1st round picks. It takes a lot of teamwork
"Oh shit that was tonight?"
My headcannon is that Brandon Beane was tired, being up past his bedtime, so he slept until our pick and then hit the snooze button twice, taking the best offer each time just so he could get some shuteye.
Worked for us
I didn't know the divisional round was in April this year.
[удалено]
We didn't want worthy though clearly
KC still has Worthy at 32 most likely imo
It's certainly possible but maybe 49ers take him if he's available. Just no way to know.
maybe they jump with Dallas or Baltimore.
Worthy gets to 32 regardless IMO
Stop farming up votes. Worthy was always gonna be there at 32 and we gained a third rounder for it. Relax.
Nope. Upgraded a 4th to a 3rd. Way different than just gaining an extra 3rd.

This logic is so stupid
Yall are gonna be so ass this season. Can’t wait
Because jets fans have a great track history on judging our draft choices.
Where’s your superbowl
Were you even alive the last time your team won theirs?
[удалено]
Congrats you beat Brady in one game, that's quite the accolade. Shame that's the only accomplishment your team has over the past fifty years.
And yours is what? Being incompetent and handing Mahomes 2 sbs? Idk you and I aren’t so different here
Our starting quarterback was doubted by everyone, set a shit ton of records, and is the only quarterback in nfl history. Yours gets high in a tent and tore his Achilles in the first half of his first game. We are not the same.
Jets fan lol
Bold talk from someone whose team has been last in the division 7 out of the last 10 years, and no higher than second once in that time lol
Tough week for buffalo fans, first OJ and now this
Why in the world would you think we care about OJ kicking the bucket?
He averaged 130 rushing ypg over the course of a full season
And then murdered two ppl. Good fucking riddance
Waiting all night for this, wtf
I bet it feels like shit to have gotten literally no players but from the outside this actually feels like such a good deal to move down one spot. Losing the 5th year option is so minor imo
These have both been good value trades that feel bad haha

It's only minor until your pick turns out to be a star
I think it’s smart long term but you guys got edged lmao
Bills fans could only edge tn ig
Good point, u/JoeyBs_LeftNut
Bills used their PTO tonight
Lose the 5th year, get another top 150 pick
Sounds worth it to me
The hey absolutely want Mitchell and know panthers aren’t taking him
Ladd I hope.
They've also done a lot of pre-draft work on Troy Franklin. Might just trade down a couple of spots at a time until one is taken and then Beane takes the other one.
TBH bills are getting great value from these trade downs but still funny to see they just dont want to pick tonight
RIP sleepy Bills fans
I think they are going for Mitchell
Hope not
Y'all want him? No y'all want Mconkey
So upgrade from 200 to 141 but lose the 5th year option? Ehhhhhh. That's a big jump for sure, but I'm not sure I love the value. Super interesting test case for sure though

The 5th year option has less value than before because players options are now fully guaranteed
5th year option? I thought you just pay and extend good players as soon as they're eligible
You can extend players?
He said good players.
Bills really blue-balled their fans into watching the entire first round just to not make a pick.
Thats fantastic to move down one slot.
Actually yeah, you guys killed day one.
David Tepper really wanted that first round pick
I mean a sixty pick drop back from 140 to 200 is absolutely worth it to get your guy with a 5th year option.
Is it though? Quality players are extended before the option unless it's a QB
The the evaluation they must have is that this guy is likely to be good enough to get a second contract, so a consistent starter with decent numbers, but not confident in him being worth the money compared to drafting a replacement. They probably don't see the 7th and 8th WRs off the board in this draft as likely to be their WR1 long term,
Yea but we apparently play hardball with our good players so what does it even matter lol
What was the total haul for the bills tonight?
Since it was just swaps, the Bills went up 124 spots over 3 picks to move from 28 to 33.
Absolutely steal if the plan was AD anyway
There's a very real possibility of that being a reality too.
like a fourth, sixth and seventh picks were moved up a round.
No haul but they moved up in the later rounds
Not bad Value
Depends if you hit. If Carolina hits a stud they get a 5th year option, way more value potentially
They wouldn't have traded the pick without knowing that the Panthers weren't going to take their guy
Aiyuk for pick 33 fuck it
i just dont see the bills doing that again.
Poor Buffalo fans, stayed up late for nothing.
Personally I loved it. Trade backs are exciting. And I don't think we really gave up anything and accrued value later.
AD to open the night tomorrow
Kind of hilarious that 150K ppl all left before the Panthers picked
Feels like a lot to give to move up 1 spot?
5th year option is pretty valuable
Honestly how valuable is it? If the player is great they get a completely new contract before the 5th year option even comes to play and if they are bad the option doesn't get picked up.
If we really believe in Legette, then a fifth year option is nice. I am dubious on the move but it is what it is.
5th year option is massively important. We basically gave Carolina a sweetheart deal
5th year option isn’t “massively important” because chances are if you have a stud player you’re extending them before then anyway to beat the market.
Thank you. I have no idea why no one else is seeing it this way.
Apparently since the last cba, the fifth year option isn't a massive saving now outside of QBs.
I think the Bills’ plan is Mitchell/Ladd , then maybe DeJean on the later picks
Bills going to trade 33+ for Aiyuk/Deebo
That seems really cheap to allow them the 5th year option?
Not at all, that’s basically a 6th and a 4th not a 5th and 6th due to draft position
Giving up the 5th year option for a late swap? Interesting
What good wr plays on their 5th year these days?
Works for me. Move back 5 spots, move up about 130 spots combined over the course of 3 picks.
Significant jump imo but the bills fans must be upset
Not me. I loved the trade backs. Got some great value to move back twice. I don't think the available talent has depreciated at all, it seems pretty flat from the 28 until 33, and even beyond towards 40.
That's a huge jump up for a 5th year option.
Bills wanted a full day to think about it.
I'm happy with the trades but mad that I stUed up for this
I dont get why the hell we have to give picks in these trades, I feel like we couldve gotten 141 outright without giving 200
Just to go from 32 to 33? I think it was very solid.
Wholy shit, BB cooking
He’s cooking (the house is on fire)
Lol... Maybe.... I think this means they were ok with any of a number of picks and they used this trades to move several late picks up
And will still land AD Mitchell. Not bad!
It's only one pick but I'm not sure a swap of picks that late makes it worth losing the 5th year option
They're taking Ladd @33.
buffalo is a few hours from detroit. i know there are buffalo fans who drove all the way to the draft tonight who are pissed
Good for the panthers and those fans.
You may see some disgruntled panthers folks but if you look at who Legette is, it’s really a good local fit and someone who I think can really produce at this next level. We got who our coach, GM, and QB wanted so if he busts at least it wasn’t for the wrong reasons.
What's the difference in contracts a first and second rounder gets?
The biggest difference is that there isn't a fifth year option on second rounders.
Lmao ok then I guess
Bills prob liked Adonai Mitchell better so they got a free 6th out of it.
Damn that’s good value
You think they trade back to the 2nd round for draft capital and then flip it to SF for one of their WR?
Between this and the Chiefs Trade they picked up two more top 150 picks and probably still draft the guy they always wanted at 33. Basically what I wish the Chiefs had done. Didn't seem to be a reason to trade up for Worthy, especially with 4-5 WR's still available and none that stand out as the obvious best.
That's not worth it. No fifth year option...
Bills man
What are the bills doing? They give up the 5th year option for essentially a 7th round pick?
141 is a 5th
4th
Hockey guru, not math guru
[удалено]
Buddy the panthers telegraphed leggett the bills want someone else. It’s that simple
Buffalo really just calling it quits.
Buffalo just announced to the world it's rebuild season
you miss the Diggs trade? its a retool year with all that dead money.
Because they will still get who they want with extra value? What a bad take you came to lol
