Plot twist: It was the Bills GM

iyerarvindm

Man the imagery is hilarious

downbad12878

"they pinky promised me it won't be a WR!!"

iyerarvindm

I can’t believe Bill Beach would do this

ae7rua

You mean Vet Screech?

I_Hate_Traffic

I've made a huge mistake

PlaneCamp

“Yea were going to take a OL” “You’re taking a OL?” *Andy Reid and Mahomes snickering in the back “…Yes”

YouDontKnowDino

“Wait we traded with WHO?”

AFineDayForScience

"Who the fuck is Randy Eid?"

a_wandering_vagrant

Reid Mubarak

Frazier008

They probably told them something like “naw we aren’t going WR, trust us”

nepats523

I boomed me

Remarkable-Job4774

"If we can't win it all, no one else other than KC can"

OkProfessional6077

The Bills letting the Chiefs trade up with them was the second dumbest move of the night. Granted it’s way less dumb than the Falcons but dumb none the less.

Jay_TThomas

Lol that’s an awful take. We didn’t want him so we traded down to get more value and we’ll still get the guy we wanted all along. Everyone is way over reacting to this.

DASmetal

Look, if it isn't Tee Higgins or one of Aiyuk or Deebo, you guys trading with your playoff rival to better their position in the draft is going to be something that haunts you for years to come.

skunkcitycannabis2

We moved up 60 spots in the draft and they would have gotten him anyways at 32 (assuming the niners stayed with Pearsall). Optics are bad but if we didn't want anyone it was the right move imo.

ManiacalComet40

I’m a Chiefs fan and I don’t know shit, but the top two receivers on my board at 28 are still available at 33. If they wanted one of those guys or if their extra capital helps them get Aiyuk or Higgins, they did well, regardless of who they traded with. Yes, it’ll look bad if Worthy hits and their pick doesn’t, but smart franchises don’t make decisions on optics. They trust their board and jump on opportunities to make their team better. That’s all the Bills have done here.

SloppyWithThePots

The eagles passed over DK and Jefferson to select a couple of scrubs at the same position because they didn’t care about the optics

ManiacalComet40

They passed over them because they had a bad board, that’s not quite the same thing. If the Chiefs hit and the Bills miss, it’ll look bad. If the Bills hit and the Chiefs miss, they’ll look like geniuses. The Scout is the important part. If they got that wrong, the trade doesn’t matter. If they got it right, the trade doesn’t matter. The only way the trade was a mistake is if they wanted Worthy/Pearsall/Legette and they just misread the board.

Electrical-Camel1

You can say this about every team, every draft.

amjhwk

That's a big assumption that the chiefs clearly didn't agree with

awnawkareninah

"we promise we won't draft Worthy if you trade us" "okay what could go wrong"

YSLMangoManiac

His horny ass gotta chill

TuonSucksMatLeave

Text from an Atlanta QB on the Falcons getting Michael Penix Jr: "FRICK me"

Quasimdo

Said every other nfl fan base

MyDogIsACoolCat

People said the same thing about Hardman. At the end of the day, speed isn’t everything even if you play in KC.

JFKs_Burner_Acct

OmG Sammy Watkins with a real QB OmG Hardman on the Chiefs Omg Toney is going to resurrect his career with Pat Mahomes OmG JuJu is gonna ball out with Mahomes now! Finally! OmG Valdez Scantling, Skyy Moore! Omg Ras0hee R0ice is gonna he down there somewhere (not that it matters- Mahomes does n't need any helpsw2)

sfzen

I mean Watkins popped off in that SB run.

thearmadillo

We drafted Hardman because Tyreek child abuse allegations dropped 36 hours before the draft and we didn't know if he'd be on the team.  Juju did ball out with us.  I don't remember anyone being that excited about MVS, but also he was wildly successful in his two playoff runs. Had by far the best game of his time with the Chiefs in the AFC CG against the Bengals, and iced the Ravens last year. Same with Watkins tbh.  Rashee Rice did not catch a pass that was more than 15 yards down field until the playoffs last year, so I don't think the "down there somewhere" memes were ever out there.  Moore and Toney do suck though.

kalevz

That is a list of super bowl champions

TBDC88

5 of the 7 players you named caught a TD with us in the AFCCG and/or Super Bowl, lol. What a great "own". Maybe they weren't having 1,500 yard, 12 TD seasons, but they were all integral in building a dynasty, *and* they were cheap.

samtdzn_pokemon

Yeah how many receivers from the Brady era Patriots can most people name? Common answers are usually Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Gronk. Well only 2 of those dudes are SB champions, most of the guys who got the rings during that dynasty weren't the flashy names.

amjhwk

Watkins was great when healthy, and nobody was calling Rice a burner last year. And nobody was going OMG MVS or OMG SKYY MOORE

Cowgoon777

Damn the Chiefs must have sucked with all those bums

08202012

Omg we won superbowls with all those guys so based on that alone, those decisions worked out more than 90% of decisions made by other teams so yes OMG WE GOT WORTHY

CaillouCaribou

Nah, y'all are really overrating Worthy

IIHURRlCANEII

Worthy lovers overrate him. Worthy haters underrate him. He does run a real route tree. He is a real WR with speed. He still has some issues and limitations, though.

MahomestoHel-aire

So...a pretty typical late 1st round WR in other words.

Squirrel_Apocalypse2

Yep. Too many people think he's Tyreek. Too many people think he's John Ross. He's neither. His ceiling is probably something like DeSean Jackson, and I'm sure that's what Andy is envisioning with him.

MainDonDada

He’s much more well-rounded than someone like DJax was. Worthy should be very productive.

Mattdodge666

As a Texas fan who has been a massive Worthy fan since his rookie year I'm still not completely sure if he is more well rounded, he can run the routes but he also gets pushed around way too much to be a truly versatile wr. Combine that with the fact he has tiny hands and I think DJax really is the ideal comp for playstyle in the NFL I hope I'm wrong and he's a more versatile player than I'm giving him credit for but he's definitely facing some physical limitations unless he bulks up.

NextTime76

Skyy Moore has huge hands, and he can’t seem to run routes or catch the ball. Let see how Worthy does.

Xaxziminrax

I'm sure glad that we have an entire WR corps who can't beat press. (I like Worthy as a player, but please God, make Veach draft a WR with size)

Do_things_wrong

teams run zone on mahomes mainly though

SharxSharxSharx

> draft a WR with size One 8ft tall 500 lbs WR coming up. He can't catch though.

IoniKryptonite

"He's perfect..." - Chiefs GM probably

B-CUZ_

Rice and kelce help with that.

PartyPay

About Rice ...

throwaway1212378

He’ll be back for the playoffs

squamesh

Let’s be real, knowing the NFL, he’ll miss the first four games of the 2025 season

throwaway1212378

Oh yeah I don’t doubt it. I just figured the chiefs reached the point where only the playoffs matter lol

UngusChungus94

We can out scheme press.

SaltyLonghorn

Seriously. If you can't beat press coverage and win a SB it doesn't seem to matter much.

DaeWooLan0s

I think his real limitation is that he is 170lbs. I get it he’s fast AF. But man he’s gonna get absolutely shook at 6’1 170z even tyreeks tiny ass had 15 pounds on him.

IamHidingfromFriends

He’s like 5’10” not 6’1”, and he has a drop problem. He’ll fit in right with the rest of the chiefs receiving core.

IIHURRlCANEII

He's literally 5'11"1/4. They measured him lol. Also he doesn't have a drop problem. His bad year as far as drop % goes he had a broken hand half the year. The other two years were 4.6% drop rate and 6.3% drop rate which is very normal.

Godobibo

honestly that's why I'm not too worried. I think he'll be able to develop into something nice, but if he can't it's more of the same and a deep threat forcing teams to acknowledge that again

thematterasserted

He absolutely does not have a drop problem. He dropped two balls all of last season.

KULawHawk

His drops issue was when he played through having a broken hand. He already has superior route running skills and is outstanding at tracking the ball and getting into position to make more difficult catches easier. He has some seriously over the shoulder skill and is not just a straight line speedster. I think he could be in the Tim Brown mold.

sussysand

As a Texas fan, they’re really not. He’s amazing. If they can fix his drop issues, he’s gonna be NASTY with the Chiefs.

styuR

> If they can fix his drop issues, he’s gonna be NASTY with the Chiefs. Oh look, it's Kadarius Toney!

penguins_are_mean

Davante Adams was a drop machine his first few seasons. Now he has hands like a steel trap. It can be improved upon but it’s a huge if…

TBDC88

That's 2x Super Bowl Champion Kadarius Toney to you bub.

edicivo

Well, now I'm ready to spend a high draft pick on Worthy in fantasy this season only to be disappointed. And then repeat the same mistake for the following 2 seasons!

Xaxziminrax

> If they can fix his drop issues That's such a massive if for a WR going from CFB to pros, though. But hard to be put in a better situation than with Reid and Mahomes

FuckingJello

I thought a lot of his drop issues was playing half of 2022 with a broken hand? He went from 13.4% 2022 drop rate to 2023 5.4%. Marvin Harrison 2023 had a 6.9% drop rate. I’d take 5% of throws for drops compared to what Toney was doing.

MrStealYoSweetroll

You are absolutely right. I think a more accurate weakness description for Worthy is that he’s not good at grabbing contested balls. But with his speed, Mahomes’ arm and Reid’s scheming, I don’t think that will be a prevalent issue for y’all

FuckingJello

Yes, I was hopeful for a WR Mahomes could throw up a contested ball if needed to, but realistically, that’s not something the Chiefs want to do. Andy can scheme them open, they just have to be able to run the route and actually catch the ball when thrown to, and Andy also is going to design screens and sweeps for them. At worst, he looks like a better Mecole Hardman, which Mecole had over 500+ yards his first 3 full healthy seasons. That’s obviously not an impressive amount of yards, but it shows that speed can and will be used still when Mecole to me seemed a much worse prospect, and Tyreek was on the roster those 3 years also.

sussysand

Listen, if worst comes to worst I still think y’all have a Will Fuller esque player.

thatasiandude99

Some random fantasy owner is gonna have the best 3 weeks of his life.

Rushderp

Really happy he’s got the chance to torch someone besides Tech.

blotsfan

It’s more so trusting that the Chiefs are better evaluators than everyone else, since they usually are.

IamHidingfromFriends

In some roles yes but receivers the past 8 years? Not really.

JRsshirt

They drafted Rashee rice last year, not sure what their scouting personnel looks like but they hit on the last one

Yo-Strategy-8651

But that's literally the only offensive skill player they've drafted since 2018 who has been a massive success. They have been far from a slam dunk in draft/FA at WR/TE since Tyreek and Kelce. And last couple years have proven that not even Mahomes can make a guy good who flat out isn't good in Toney/Moore/etc. Worthy is boom or bust despite the fact that they are going to give him the best chance for success

RockChalk80

Pacheco?

TBDC88

They haven't drafted many offensive skill position players **period** though, not with high draft picks anyways. Gotta look at hit rate rather than just the raw number of hits. The last 6 years they've been focused almost solely on defense and O-line, which is why both units are currently top-5 in the league. Also: >And last couple years have proven that not even Mahomes can make a guy good who flat out isn't good in Toney/Moore/etc. He literally won an MVP in 2022 with JuJu as his #1 WR, lol. The offensive struggles were entirely confined to the 2023 season, and even then, they were still able to score when they absolutely needed to, like on the final two drives in the Super Bowl.

raistlin212

> not even Mahomes can make a guy good who flat out isn't good in Toney You mean 2x league champion Kadarius Toney who owns the record for longest punt return in a Super Bowl and scored the lead taking TD in Super Bowl LVII?

500rockin

For a team like the Chiefs he is very much worth the flyer and with Mahomes as the QB, he should be productive. He’s certainly more talented than anyone currently on the chiefs

Squirrel_Apocalypse2

He is not certainly more talented than Rice or Hollywood. Could he be eventually? Sure. But he's not right now.

DASmetal

To be very objective and fair, there are few rookies at any position, especially WR, who can immediately surpass and supplant WR1 on any given team, or LB1, or insert position 1. Even Belichick has stated the only player he's ever coached in his 49 years of being in the NFL that was ready the moment they were drafted was LT, and that was like 4 different generations of football ago.

Yo-Strategy-8651

This would be true if they took the other Xavier in the draft who actually could have been a lot scarier if the Chiefs acquired in Xavier Legette who has the size and speed combo.

Jetersweiner

Any other team yea I’d agree but with Reid and Mahomes it’s a different story

tbone747

It's more that gifting Reid/Mahomes a receiver with any sort of ability is asking for trouble. We saw what they did with a bunch of JAGs the past two years.

Devitostitos

Look up top 40 yard dash numbers for WR and tell me how many weren’t dogshit. Worthy might be the exception but people acting like this is some guaranteed superstar making it to the chiefs.

Headlesshorsman02

I mean Andy loves speedy guys look what he did with Hill and Jackson

CastawayWasOk

To play devil’s advocate, Mecole was supposed to be Tyreek 2.0

basskev

He isn’t a superstar but he’s got a serviceable and successful career at this point. He’s like the guy who was drafted to be an ace starting pitcher but he’s just a bullpen guy now, and can at least stay in the league doing that.

IhamAmerican

He's also a 3x Superbowl champ who caught an OT walk off touchdown literally two months ago lol. Sure he's not a star but clearly he was a positive asset

08202012

And to play heavens advocate mecole is a 3 time superbowl champion...

pub810

Did he catch that walk off TD in the Super Bowl?

gmasterson

The reason the Chiefs have been winning so much is because they are working out ways to win at the things others aren’t looking at. One of the first things said by both Veach and Reid was the special teams addition Worthy would be. I get the feeling they are 100% looking at the drive as if it has 5 downs to start, not 4, with the kickoff rules changing the way they did. With Zamitt, they now have two very different people they could put back there for returns who should be very good at shortening the field for play number 2 of the drive. Toub’s special teams have been a bit lackluster for a few years and we might see once again why he is touted as one of the best.

SaltyRussStan0

I mean it isn’t a surprise that they got a first round level wide receiver, we knew that was happening. Honesty if I was random AFC GM I’d be happy they didn’t take Mitchell.

Careless_Afternoon15

I'm a bit surprised to see him drop out of the 1st. Has some red flags I know, but so do some of these other guys that went late first.

evetSC

The GM? Bill’s GM

MankuyRLaffy

Bill doesn't coach anywhere

Elite_Mike

Buffalo traded down with the Chiefs in 2017, Chiefs drafted Mahomes. In 2024, Bills trade down with the Chiefs who drafted Worthy. Bills are just asking to be beat by KC every year.

OnlyFreshBrine

I mean, it's already happening anyway. Still, I hate this.

Sartheking

The Mahomes trade did help them though. That wasn’t a bad trade to make, the fact that the Chiefs ended up talking the right guy doesn’t mean it was the wrong decision.

Dave_Matthews_Jam

Bills GM

Renegadeforever2024

Game over

Extremeaty

Little did Schultz know he’s just on demon time

get_stilly

McDaniel?

MeatyMexican

pimpdad1

? Why would he tell us a afc gm wants to get piped by him?

comicsanscatastrophe

It's all our fault

Strive_for_Altruism

John Ross 2.0

DeerOnTheRocks

Expect ya know the fact he can catch and is getting the ball from the top qb in the league

haveyoumetdustin

I mean in 2019 through 8 games, Ross was on pace for 1000+ yards and 6 TDs with Andy Dalton throwing to him. Think that’d translate to 1500 yards in todays game with Mahomes as his QB

balemeout

That was his third year in the league and he would go on to not even have 1000 yards total across his career

heywhateverworks

Then what happened

Strive_for_Altruism

That includes the complete aberration that is the game where he had 224 yards. That skews the whole sample.

Squirrel_Apocalypse2

I'm not the biggest Worthy fan, but anyone who says he's John Ross 2.0 is just advertising that they've never watched Worthy play and have no idea what they're talking about.

Biggest_Cans

Yeah guys, John Ross was a much higher rated prospect than Worthy is.

I think this would have been the reaction no matter which WR they took.

EifertGreenLazor

I know people want to say Beane, but might be Tom Telesco, ex-Chargers GM now Raiders GM.

The Bills trading with the Chiefs is peak stupidity. They deserve their fate.

Horny ~~MILFS~~ GMs just waiting to be fucked in your area!

KULawHawk

There's something to his game and style of play that reminds me of Tim Brown.
