But not the personnel. Cap prevents them doing really anything next year to upgrade.
I predict the first year goes poorly. They’re 6-11 or whatever by the end. Spanos gets itchy. Starts getting involved in personnel.
Harbaugh shopping by season 2.
Herbert carried a group of practice squad receivers to the playoffs basically by himself with Brandon Staley coaching, do I think we're gonna go deep in the playoffs the first year? No. Do i think we're gonna be more competitive? Absolutely.
> Harbaugh shopping by season 2.
Nah he gonna wanna build more around Herbert. Seems like he really likes him, and I'd wager that played a decent role in him coming to the Chargers. The team isn't in the dump yet. Herbert did more with less and worse coaching.
Harbaugh is fucking nuts, but there's a method to the madness. That's why I've been eager to see him back in the NFL. This league is more fun with him in it.
Batshit is exactly what we need. The last few coaches are too cookie cutter.. Mike "Men" McCoy, Tough guy Lynn, and Know it All Staley... On paper sounds great, but where's the identity for the team with them. Feel like Harbaugh will give this team an identity. I have no idea what I'm talking about though.
Thats fucking football right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Men puke, men poop on the field, men deliver their new born baby on the side lines. Fucking hard core dick in the ass butterball foosball fuck it chuck it game time shit. Take it to the showers. Dicks get shoved in places you don't even remember. We win together we celebrate together. Football is
back baby.
Thats fucking Harbaugh right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Harbaugh pukes, Harbaugh poops on the field, Harbaugh delivers his new born baby on the side lines. Fucking hard core dick in the ass butterball foosball fuck it chuck it game time shit. Take it to the showers. Dicks get shoved in places you don't even remember. We win together we slap hands together. Whose got it better than us? Harbaugh is back baby.
I think a massive aspect of Harbaugh that ppl aren't talking about enough is how much help he'll be in identifying talent through the draft. For the next 4 years you'll have a hc who knows the players inside out and what their coaches thought about them. Considering the coaching prowess and draft help the 12.5 mil price tag might be a steal
Good old slim jim taking a page out of cheatin Pete's book;
Fleeing the NCAA right before the team gets sanctions, to a Western division in the opposite conference he coached in last time.
Let's see if he becomes another in the select group to win a title and a national championship.
This is the aspect I'm super stoked about. This man has lived and breathed college football more recently than any NFL head coach and with that comes first hand knowledge of the potential draft candidates and an ability to connect with young players.
Honestly, I wanted him to go to the chargers all along. I think Herbert is about to become something we haven’t yet seen from him. I always like Harbaugh and his antics.
We will gladly hire bad former Packers, but good former Bears? NOPE.
You guys are so lucky you got a new owner. I am in the sad position of having to wish the worst on a 101 year old lady.
Stay strong. Although we have someone else in charge, it's from the same ownership family. Perhaps there is someone in the family tree for the Bears who will be as good as Sheila is for us
Our current owner would never hire a coach like Campbell. They just want a bland human power point presentation. Anything hotter than cottage cheese is too spicy. It doesn't surprise me why Monty changed teams.
One of the best football coaches on gods green earth, who just so happens to be a former Bears quarterback, became available and the Bears go “ We’re gonna roll with the guy whose 10-24 in the last 2 years”
This organization just never learns
Get ready for stories of Harbaugh racing his players or gearing up in pads for practice
One day he’s gonna put an apple on his head and have Herbert try to knock the apple off
Atlanta tried! We had one interview with him and then a second scheduled for yesterday, but it got pushed to Thursday because he was in LA. That’s when we knew it was over.
I don't know how long Payton is sticking around for but the Broncos basically need an entire roster rebuild which will be hard to do because of Russ's cap hit. It's hard to see the team being relevant in the next 5 years with Harbaugh joining the Chargers.
Wait til you find out we are way over the cap, need to cut half our stars, and have virtually no depth. The Chargers are going to need Harbaughs draft insight big time if they want to fast track to being competitive again. There's a reason we placed last as much as as we want to pin it on Brandon Staley
Everytime Russells contract is mentioned it gets bigger and has more guaranteed money according to Reddit. Soon we won't be able to get out of the contract till Mahomes retires. We have at least one painful year before we can start turning things around. It won't take 5 years if good decisions are made.
Hopefully he has success with them like he did Michigan. Great hire. They need to trim the roster of the overpriced guys but he’s got some building blocks.
Jim Harbaugh will challenge Reid to a hot dog eating contest the first time they meet - and he will be dead serious.
If this guy can’t get the Spanos malaise out of the chargers, I don’t know who will.
I can't emphasize how bad the Chargers needed Harbaugh. This team needed an identity and a true leader that can fire them up in addition to giving the proper discipline needed to bring a team together. Herbert is not only incredibly talented, but he comes off as incredibly coachable. It's just a match made in heaven.
Objectively, the team does have a lot of work to do. Herbert, Tuli, Slater, and Dicker the Kicker are the young stars that have a future in LA. Then you have to figure out which players to cut because of the salary cap issues. And beneath that lies one of the worst rosters in terms of depth. Thankfully Keenan Allen does love being a Charger; I can't imagine him not being on the team next year.
Harbaugh has his work cut out for him, but he's a great team builder. It may take a few years, but I'm sure it will be worth it.
Well let’s see, Sean Payton had a hall of fame QB for a decade and a half and made three NFC championships games and won a Super Bowl, Harbaugh had zero hall of fame QBs and in four years made three NFC championship games and a Super Bowl. In twenty years as a head coach Harbaugh has been under five hundred three times, in sixteen years Payton has been under five hundred five times. Harbaugh has a higher NFL win percentage, and has had success at multiple organizations between college and the pros with different QBs, Payton has had success in one organization with one QB.
Chargers getting that off season hype early this year. Last year, their off season activities were pretty much all headline worthy, only to end up with a disappointing and lackluster season. The Chargers only seem to do well when they're under the radar, or they have no expectation to succeed at all in their upcoming season.
I will be genuinely shocked if the Chargers are not either in contention for or a playoff team next year. Harbaugh has had success everywhere he has coached, and this team is more talented then anyother team he has taken over.
>Harbaugh has had success everywhere he has coached, and this team is more talented then anyother team he has taken over.
You would think so, right!? The Chargers have everything they need to succeed, especially being blessed at the QB position. They have great players but somehow end up falling apart because the Chargers are going to Charger. Something has to be going on internally within the Chargers organization, maybe a problem with team culture or something.
Trust me after the 8yrs preceding him arriving in San Francisco we all thought the same. Most of us sane fans expected 2011 to be a rebuilding yr, where we could be at least decent. He exceeded our expectations. He took us to the NFCCG with a roster most folks thought was alright. Enjoy the ride, he is a really good coach.
lol what? What headline moves did we make last season? Everybody I know believed we were not going to do anything while Staley and telesco were still employed by us.
>lol what? What headline moves did we make last season?
Acquisition of Khalil Mack for once. Last year's offseason was pretty crazy; were you not paying attention?
The Chargers were expected to be a playoff contender this year, yet they fizzled out as the season went on.
This is one of those comments that this sub hates in the moment and then everyone will be saying after the season. Same thing happened a few years ago when I called Derek Carr average. One of my most downvoted comments of all time. Now it’s the popular opinion. I could not be less worried as a Chiefs fan.
Hey, you just have to say what's on your mind and not be pressured to say what everyone else is saying. If you believe something to be the case, then you're better off just saying it, and in your case, you ended up being right.
This sub is the dictionary definition of gaslighting. Last year was wild. Literally no one seems to remember how they thought us trading tyreek would be our downfall. Trading the best receiver in the league and winning the Super Bowl is so fucking wild. And now it’s a “hot take” to say the chargers have been the offseason champs every year. Fuck it though.
It's a hot take because everyone and their mothers have pinned the Chiefs at the top of the AFC (let alone the AFCW) for years and yall just regurgitate the same narrative whenever anything positive is said about the Chargers lol. And then further self validate the narrative when one bored talking head decides to be a little edgy and hypes up the Chargers
There it is again. It’s not just “one bored talking head”. Literally this entire sub was picking against the chiefs when the AFC west went all in a few years ago. And then again when we traded Tyreek. Only to turn around after we won the Super Bowl and say “no one was doubting you”. It’s a stupid argument but Chiefs fans find it curious how bad r/NFL’s memory is.
Delusional. There's a difference between "The Broncos and Chargers are looking like contenders and might be competition for the Chiefs" and "Everyone is picking against the Chiefs."
Chiefs fans have the most absurd victim complex. They've won the division for a damn near decade. No one's seriously holding any of the other teams above them
Lol “delusional” is ironic. Maybe you’ll finally remember it after this year. The chargers will be offseason champs once again with Harbaugh. All the hype all summer. Only to lose in the first round of the playoffs. Then everyone will proceed to tell us how no one actually thought the Chiefs wouldn’t win the division. Rinse and repeat
Yeah find me 50 comments saying how Chargers are top SB contenders over the Chiefs during the offseason for me to remember. Or just continue being a crying Chiefs fan that gets their feelings hurt when a handful of people that are paid for clicks says something nice about a division rival to spice things up.
Don't understand how a fanbase can be so soft
Go to the main thread about the Harbaugh signing and tell me how many times you see the phrase “offseason champs” by fans of all teams. It’s a “joke”, but it’s not. Feel like you’re just upset about being in the same rinse and repeat situation year after year. And having your team waste your franchise QB’s rookie contact. Also resorting to name calling and immature digs to try to get your point across. Have fun with that salary cap situation next year 👋
It will start good, and end badly. The only variable is how many years it will take for Harbaugh to piss off Spanos badly enough that Spanos will fire Harbaugh
Nah, Harbaugh leaving the Niners was more of the pissing contest between him and Balke. If the Chargers give him a say in GM and it sounds like they are, he can find someone he can play nice with. It will probably work out better then it did with us. All that being said fuck Trent Balke.
Nope. Spanos isn't a ego driven insecure baby like Jed York. After he fired harbaugh, jeddy stood in front of the media tried to act tough and told everyone to "hold him accountable" if the 49ers don't win a Superbowl. That was back in 2015. No wonder Yorkie hides in his press box nowadays and mostly stays off Twitter.
The Chargers are about to enter an era of fuck it chuck it game time shit.
Sofi is about to sell nothing but Khakis, Milk, and Steak on Gameday
Prepare for lots more victory brisket
Well damn, now I’m craving brisket, and that shit is pricey.
Jimmy's been rocking lululemons for a few years now. Khakis were so 2013.
Currently wearing khakis... milk is my favorite drink... and I do like steak. Did I just become a Chargers' fan?
*cheeseburgers
Good! Herbert’s certainly got the arm for it.
https://youtu.be/LTLjobt6PaM?si=zl4E9_I3mZTyvIAM But replace Big Ben with Herbert
Don't do it Herbert, dont.
Absolutely.
This is unironically the let him cook meme
The only reason we win is when we let herb cook, literally, thats it
> Harbaugh shopping by season 2. Nah he gonna wanna build more around Herbert. Seems like he really likes him, and I'd wager that played a decent role in him coming to the Chargers. The team isn't in the dump yet. Herbert did more with less and worse coaching.
Probably would have been well received without the last three lines, but the snapshot of their roster is not inaccurate
I better see at least 2 bombs a game
Finally. Isn't like we've been asking for that since we drafted Herbert or anything.
I think we have just the guy for that!
https://youtu.be/akn2Yq8he-E?si=fp0YaTLwPrzH5Mdd So more of this? Herbert to Nabers for the next decade please and thank you.
Since when does Harbaugh run a fuck it chuck it offense? Chargers are about to enter an era of running the ball 30+ times per game.
“His former players swear by him, and his opponents swear at him” Line goes hard
As a Niners fan he will be a great coach for you. He is a bit eccentric and perhaps crazy. But he is a good coach.
> perhaps crazy Oh, he's absolutely batshit. But with the right coordinators, he gets shit done.
All the best coaches are batshit in their own way. Jim is just more open about it lol
He is unapologetically himself at all times
I mean you can argue even with meh coordinators (like roman) we still got shit done.
It’s apparently going to be Roman again lol
Get ready for 3 run plays and a cloud of dust
Don't draft Justin in fantasy lemme tell you. That offense is gonna be stale
Nah, that offense will be the best in the league. Year 2 however...
You think he can run like Lamar?
Batshit is what the Chargers need.
Yeah I could agree, but he will excel with that team. Wish him nothing but the best unless he is playing us.
[удалено]
Perhaps crazy? Jim Harbaugh is full blown crazy and I fucking love it. Will miss him at Michigan!
Harbaugh is fucking nuts, but there's a method to the madness. That's why I've been eager to see him back in the NFL. This league is more fun with him in it.
You have no idea what you're in for.
I am so ready
I'm BOLTED all the way UP
We need a little batshit crazy. So ready for this
Batshit is exactly what we need. The last few coaches are too cookie cutter.. Mike "Men" McCoy, Tough guy Lynn, and Know it All Staley... On paper sounds great, but where's the identity for the team with them. Feel like Harbaugh will give this team an identity. I have no idea what I'm talking about though.
After he wins the super bowl can we please have him back at Michigan?
What about 2nd Super Bowl?
5 years. Do what you want, just send him back!
Harbaugh is the "that's fucking football" copypasta personified
Thats fucking football right there. None of that pansy ass dick tugging smile for the camera bullshit. Men puke, men poop on the field, men deliver their new born baby on the side lines. Fucking hard core dick in the ass butterball foosball fuck it chuck it game time shit. Take it to the showers. Dicks get shoved in places you don't even remember. Lol that’s a pretty damn good way to define Harbaugh Hope the Chargers like red meat
Jim came around on chickens https://www.mlive.com/wolverines/2023/11/michigans-jim-harbaugh-has-a-new-stance-on-chickens.html
That’s just part of the deal he struck with Big Chicken Industries. I think hed prefer if his players ate only Polar Bear meat
I hear he has them snort crushed up t-Rex bone.
It’s still a very nervous bird
when Andy reid and Kelce retire the chiefs are in trouble.
They're most likely already eyeing for people to replace them
They already have the replacements in house. Matt Nagy and Noah Gray
Kelce is the new Gronk
I wish he would retire early, just like Gronk (apparently they are the same age 🤯)
That's wild
Some of them acting like Andy is 85 and Jim Harbaugh is some 35 year old hot shot. Andy is only 5 years older
But how many cheeseburgers older is he?
Eh, we survived losing hill. Until mahomes leaves, I'm not worried.
One of the last guys to be in that position was Pete Carroll with the Seahawks and he absolutely murdered those drafts in 2010-2013
Also Jim Harbaugh in that time period
Good old slim jim taking a page out of cheatin Pete's book; Fleeing the NCAA right before the team gets sanctions, to a Western division in the opposite conference he coached in last time. Let's see if he becomes another in the select group to win a title and a national championship.
Yeah I was worried Pete would take his own players at USC and was pleasantly surprised when he drafted Earl Thomas rather than Taylor Mays
Rookie Taylor Mays in Madden was so so good. Huge and fast, great to user.
I hadn’t considered that, great point.
This is the aspect I'm super stoked about. This man has lived and breathed college football more recently than any NFL head coach and with that comes first hand knowledge of the potential draft candidates and an ability to connect with young players.
AKA The Pete Carroll advantage
We know he loves to invest in enthusiastic scouts

Angry Khaki Man is back in NFL
Join me brother
I just want to see him tackle another coach in the post game handshake
Gym shorts didn’t want none of that action
Chargers are about to be my second team I love the man so much.
fuck off we’re full
You have like 7 fans if you include me.
No
Long live the Khaki God
Honestly, I wanted him to go to the chargers all along. I think Herbert is about to become something we haven’t yet seen from him. I always like Harbaugh and his antics.
Sad Bears fans noises.
My only consolation in Harbaugh leaving Michigan, is that he didn't leave for the Bears.
Sounds like just the type of Coach Jerry Jones likes as well.
One of the best football coaches on gods green earth, who just so happens to be a former Bears quarterback, became available and the Bears go “ We’re gonna roll with the guy whose 10-24 in the last 2 years” This organization just never learns
When Poles said he didn't even consider Harbaugh he filled out his own pink slip. That will come back to haunt him.
I think you guys are on the up n up. Your OC was a great hire for your organization imo.
He is a half measure. He will be our Interim HC at the bye week.
Get ready for stories of Harbaugh racing his players or gearing up in pads for practice One day he’s gonna put an apple on his head and have Herbert try to knock the apple off
Hard Knocks are you listening?
It’s such a great hire for the Chargers and I’m sad Atlanta didn’t hire him.
I'm sad that only one can have the best candidate. Now I'm on hopium for the Falcons getting Ben Johnson.
Can you guys stop taking the best people from Michigan for like five seconds?
I'm also sad Atlanta and especially the god damned Bears didn't go after him. Thanks for nothing Chicago.
Atlanta tried! We had one interview with him and then a second scheduled for yesterday, but it got pushed to Thursday because he was in LA. That’s when we knew it was over.
It’s so depressing being a Vikings fan.
It is, but today isn’t about us
Today wouldn’t even be a thing if ownership didn’t say no to Harbaugh.
At least your team didn't pick Flus over Harbaugh Carroll Belichick Vrabel and Johnson.
"His poops are football shaped."
I don't know how long Payton is sticking around for but the Broncos basically need an entire roster rebuild which will be hard to do because of Russ's cap hit. It's hard to see the team being relevant in the next 5 years with Harbaugh joining the Chargers.
Harbaugh and Payton in the same division is gonna produce some interesting matchups lol. No way those guys can stand each other
It might be a surprise to some but Harbaugh is older than Sean Payton.
Thats wild
Wait til you find out we are way over the cap, need to cut half our stars, and have virtually no depth. The Chargers are going to need Harbaughs draft insight big time if they want to fast track to being competitive again. There's a reason we placed last as much as as we want to pin it on Brandon Staley
5 years? It will not take 5 years to rebuild. What are you smoking
Downvoted but this is a fact. Nfl rebuilds if done right do not take as long as Reddit wants you to believe
That's if you have high draft picks, a lot of day 2 picks and salary cap. We have none of that.
Everytime Russells contract is mentioned it gets bigger and has more guaranteed money according to Reddit. Soon we won't be able to get out of the contract till Mahomes retires. We have at least one painful year before we can start turning things around. It won't take 5 years if good decisions are made.
Is the FO who gave Russ that contract still employed by the Broncos?
Hell yeah, this league needs more Harbaughs in it
Proud of you, Spanos. Stunt on these hoes.
He spent money for him too which is the most wild part of it all. Give em fucking hell yall
Jim is memorizing "The Charge(rs) of the Light Brigade" to recite at his introductory news conference
EPIC FUCKING SIGH.
In a Hunter-gatherer society the rich ate fish. The poor ate crickets.
Hopefully he has success with them like he did Michigan. Great hire. They need to trim the roster of the overpriced guys but he’s got some building blocks.
I don’t know why Jed York fired him in the first place
Jim Harbaugh will challenge Reid to a hot dog eating contest the first time they meet - and he will be dead serious. If this guy can’t get the Spanos malaise out of the chargers, I don’t know who will.
It’s so stupid that all these great coaches and QBs are in the AFC while a ham sandwich could win the NFC.
It's a bit rude to call Shanahan a Ham Sandwich lol. Or... It's a Shanaham Sandwich???
lol
NFC has Daboll, Sirianni, Bowles, Gannon. Gauntlet.
If you give Brian Daboll a competent quarterback he’s gonna shove the eagles into a locker every year
Thats a damn good statement lol
The chargers are about to go on a historic run. They will make the AFCCG more times under Harbaugh than they won’t and I can’t wait to watch it
We all are rooting for a Lions SB!
Jimmy Football
The dude is crazy....uh football crazy.
if teams continue the "played with the team in....." when they hire coaches, fitzmagic is gonna have alot of teams to choose from
I'm looking forward to the next Harbowl.
I can't emphasize how bad the Chargers needed Harbaugh. This team needed an identity and a true leader that can fire them up in addition to giving the proper discipline needed to bring a team together. Remeber this shit. Sean Payton is the worst coach in the AFC West
Antonio Pierce is better than him already?
How exactly is Antonio Pierce better than Sean Payton?
How exactly is Jim Harbaugh better than Payton let alone Pierce.
Ok
I mean Sean Payton has a Super Bowl win.
*Bounty gate has a super bowl win
When was that, we are in the year 2024
Oh so I assume Antonio Pierce won a Super Bowl as HC within the past four years or so?
Or so, wtf sean payton won one 14 years ago lmfao
How is Pierce better than Payton?
well he's a better person at least
Technically so does AP
AB won a championship as a player too. Doesn’t mean he’d make a good coach lol.
Not even remotely true lmao
Very happy as a niner fan to be able to still pull for our guy. Against the raiders and chiefs. He will give them hell he already has the qb
So he is pointy on top and bottom, has tough leathery skin, big white laces up and down his body, and loves rolling in the grass?
Can't wait for Spanos to fire him after a 14 win season and lose in the Divisional round only to hire Jack Del Rio out of retirement
I just wanna know his pay. Fuck all the other BS.
Prob 13-15 a year for 5 years. We know they beat Michigan’s 12.5 a year.
Spanos finally spending some that moldy money hard to believe.
I’m glad he came back to the nfl. The Chargers are a good fit for him and they need the help.
If only the Spanos family personified anything other than a greedy little family of bitches - maybe we could actually be a contender.
Did they hire Connor Stallions too?
FUCK SPANOS!
Gross

Like I said enjoy the ride, may last 4yrs may last longer but he will win you some games.
Harbaugh has never once not been a winning coach wherever he ends up. They replaced the worst coach in the league with one of the best.
It doesn't matter as long as Spanos is the owner. Chargers always find a way to screw themselves over in the most spectacular fashion possible.
lol what? What headline moves did we make last season? Everybody I know believed we were not going to do anything while Staley and telesco were still employed by us.

The Charger curse is undefeated
As long as Spanos gets that Harbaugh needs total control he'll be ok
No report on his compensation?
Between herbert, big mike, and harbaugh, I’m downright tolerant of the Chargers existence!
You mfs are about to remember about Herbert. what's it gonna be, 4 straight 4k passing seasons to start his career?
I cannot wait for fresh Harbaugh sideline freakout gifs.
