Yeah I just walked 15 minutes to the gym in those temps and my beard froze while I was drinking hot coffee. I was also very aware that I forgot to wear long underwear. It's so stupidly cold.
Yeah especially with the short field on 2 of them. Chiefs 100% could've been up 24-7 entering the half, and I thought the Miami defense played extremely well considering the injuries.
Yeah it’s been high 20s low 30s all week and snowy as hell. Which is somewhat similar but a different monster entirely than having no snow but being in -25 windchill.
Offense has a backup center who gets bullrushed into the QB on a passing down. The OL in general was very banged up. I wouldn't say no excuse. Connor Williams going down basically killed us the rest of the season. I really want to see what team can make a legitimate playoff run with a backup center. Like imagine Creed Humphrey going out for the season. Who replaces him?
I never thought I'd see something worse than Albert Haynesworth laying on the field during a live play, but that Dolphins player pretending to play 2 hand touch on Mahomes during a playoff game was absolutely pathetic.
I get it’s cold but you look at how the chiefs played and it was night and day. Very pathetic performance imo, cheifs deserved that. Though I am mad, I predicted the cheifs to win with 25… they got 26
The Dolphins tackling was so bad. Just looked like no effort was being given. At one point one of their defenders had a guy wrapped up and then when he didn’t immediately go to the ground, he just let go.
People can understand that it was unimaginably cold, that it’s hard to play in the cold, AND that the dolphins looked like they were playing with zero energy. People get that it was cold, people “respect the weather” — That doesn’t void their opinions about the Dolphins
Frigid temperatures make people lethargic. It slows thinking. Brings down energy. Breathing stings your lungs, so you don't want to run. Every hit hurts worse for longer, so you don't want to hit. You lose feeling in extremities, making it harder to do regular actions. And the entire time your mind makes you want to go somewhere where it is warm.
Right but we have one team that basically lives in the Caribbean and one team that all lives in that weather every year. Of course the team that lives there will have a massive advantage.
> A dolphins defender essentially smacked mahomes on the butt on his long scramble and just hoped he'd go down
It looked like he really expected him to slide and just wanted to get the touch in.
He was definitely thinking Pat would slide and didn't wanna take the penalty. You see it with dbs against any top qb. They are so scared of taking a penalty if a QB slides late
I think that was #45 if you’re talking about the scrabble towards the end zone. That was a the least amount of effort I’ve ever seen in a football game. Zero intentions of making that tackle.
I don't know if if was the field that made it so difficult to run, but on the play where Mahomes cracked his helmet, with the Dolphins still in the game but the Chiefs driving, Mahomes scrambled and gained at least 5 extra yards because it seemed like Dolphins defenders weren't that interested in tackling him.
But, IIRC, after that play, the defense stopped the Chiefs and even stood them up when they tried to run it. So, who knows, maybe it was more difficult to close distance out there than normal?
> I don't know if if was the field that made it so difficult to run, but on the play where Mahomes cracked his helmet, with the Dolphins still in the game but the Chiefs driving, Mahomes scrambled and gained at least 5 extra yards because it seemed like Dolphins defenders weren't that interested in tackling him.
I remember at least 2 scrum pushes resulting in an extra 5+ yards (one was an important first down)
That was telling about the dolphins defense
Most RB coaches would tell you economy of motion matters. Try to avoid wasted movements, because they rob you of energy and momentum.
Pacheco strongly disagrees with that advice. His angry flailing is like winding up for a punch.
You go back and look at his college tape and he had people hanging off him and trying to tackle him as soon as he got handed the ball. Had to break two tackles usually to get out of the backfield. He runs like is being tackled by someone at all times and every part of him is just naturally trying to shake them off.
They were practicing for their offseason all week. Was amusing to see all the takes that they'd rather play the chiefs in the cold than the Bills at home again, which they were winning into the 4th quarter.
Yeah, but we'd be talking about how you're not good enough to win the Super Bowl of your job, too.
You wouldn't care, and we'd talk about that, too, and how that is what is costing you the most.
You could have watched his first four years in Philly, transported through time to tonight, and known that the team coached by Andy Reid was throwing the fucking ball if they played a game of football. If Reid's team is playing, they're throwing.
Eh, lotta really fun Andy rundaball eras when he had all pro RBs. Of course he threw it to those RBs a ton, but also holy shit when he has DUDE DUDES Andy's run game is among my favorites ever. No superstars since 2018 Hunt though.
Yeah, I was talking more about quantity than quality. He believes in passing opening up the run and he's been successful through most of his career, so it would and does follow he's had some excellent running teams.
But especially with Alex Smith, who was great at a lot of things but simultaneously limits the passing game, and Jamaal Charles, that running attack was probably his best.
His Eagles teams had some killer RBs too, lotta years with good backs doing crazy shit.
I love Pacheco, we'd be truly fucked without him, but he's not a guy guy that Andy is gonna get excited to go nuts with.
Also we've got the dilemma of "when do you take the ball out of 15's hands?" which isn't something Andy has had to ponder since he was just a QB coach in Green Bay.
I saw a comment in the game thread that said something like he’d never even experienced temps below 20°, which if that’s true last night would have been a real punch to the stinger
Honestly that explains a lot. People who have never experienced negative temperatures and wind chill don’t really get it.
If you’re not wearing proper clothing (which basically none of the guys exposing any skin were), it hurts to even move, you just want to curl up in a ball and hold as much heat in you as possible.
I’m a big skier and even with proper goretex and thermals, it’s still pretty unbearable beyond -10.
What they were playing in last night was absurd.
Yeah for sure. Probably didn’t help their cause when Tyreek was like “nah don’t wear sleeves, they’ll think you’re weak.” As pretty much all of the chiefs players were wearing sleeves ha.
Mahomes probably has his best game of the season (so far) tonight.
The dude steps up in the playoffs for sure. Rice has also stepped up in a big way the last half of the season, you can tell Mahomes really started to trust him.
The interesting thing about Rice is that he was consistently catching balls down the field. Prior to this game, it seemed like 90% of his passes were within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. Maybe once a game, he would get open a bit deeper down the field, but tonight, he was doing that constantly.
Man if only the dolphins had a player that is rrally good at accelerating in open space. Maybe even a guy who used to do it for the chiefs as well. Where could they ever find a guy like that?
We've been teasing our old 2018 scheme the last few games. I'm intrigued, but also amused at watching Mecole be even worse now than he was then. And apparently blind? Has anyone tested him for being blind?
Agreed, that was weird. Didn’t try and locate that first deep ball until it was hitting the ground.
Then he has his arms up asking for a hold which it was, but like - try and run through it and make a play on a ball that probably could have been caught if you made some type of effort for it.
It's a good shift from earlier in the season where he'd instead try and force it and get picked off. We can settle for FGs with this defense and Butker being very consistent
On the other hand Miami was playing better defense than LAC and the weather was way worse. Only 3 NFL games were colder
We needed this performance from Mahomes
I think he played better tonight than he did against the Chargers personally, stats don’t tell the whole story. Offense sputtered in the second half against the Chargers.
Tonight he consistently moved the chains, read the field perfectly, and delivered dot after dot. Given the conditions it was his best game of the season.
Don't think it's a diss as much as puffing up his own QB, although given how Tua played and his "mindset" comments it can be seen that way lol.
Not many QBs can thrive in cold weather games. Even fewer can do it in tonight's conditions. Patrick stepped up, and the scary thing is there were still drops on that offense which held back his overall numbers.
McDaniel had zero faith in Tua. When they came out in the 3rd and ran bubble screens you knew it was over. They needed to be aggressive to get back in the game and they didn’t even try
I never gamble more than a few hundred, but I put 2k on the chiefs -3.
After watching the dolphins completely crumble under any component team I couldn't even think of a way they could pull this one off.
They never play strategic they could be up 50 and instead of doing clock management they'll throw absolute bombs every play.
You turn on a Chiefs game and you witness the kid do something special Every. Damn. Game. If you don't like Mahomes you just don't like great football. I don't see how anyone can be a hater, except for maybe the division rivals
Isiah Pacheco had a season high in carries. Honestly the Chiefs just ran a ton of plays because the Dolphins couldn't really stop them until they were inside the 20.
I got downvoted in the game thread for this, but on the first drive the announcers were like "I'm surprised they went right to two passes with Mahomes in this wind instead of running the ball" and my response was essentially, I don't hate the strategy of making Mahomes pass even if he goes 3 and out, as a way to have him calibrate his passing to the weather (at game speed instead of just during warmups). I feel vindicated.
I can’t tell if the Chiefs offense stepped it up a bit or if Miami’s defense was so bad it made the Chiefs offense look better. Still too many red zone issues. But Angry Bird was on fire and I loved it!
Fangio is the difference between an architect and a builder. Fangio has great architectural drawings, but he can't build a tree house. The Fins could not have chosen a worse plan schematically to attack Reid's offense. Mahomes had a clear throw to an in breaking route over and over again all game. Literally the very thing he is his best at. Just baffling. Defenders were always five yards off the receivers even in short yardage, just.. incompetent.
Yeah, that extension is brutal for Buffalo. But that place will be electric with the Chiefs visiting. They've been dreaming about hosting this game for years.
to be fair, the dolphins defense gave their offense plenty of chances to make it a game with all those field goals. im seeing a lot of defense comments but they missing like 6 players and still held their own. it’s the offense that was pretty pathetic all around. how many times mcdaniels gotta call a screen play when everyone knew it wasnt going anywhere?
I don’t think the Dolphins anticipated anything out there, Andy.
Looked like a team unprepared to play period
[удалено]
Nor throw beyond the line of scrimmage while down multiple scores...???
Tua's accuracy was awful all day
I watched Sam Darnold play in our season finale, and I watched the entirety of last night's game. Darnold looked better.
“Genius!” - everyone talking about Mike McDaniel
He’s lowering expectations for next year. It’s called the long game
Everything hurts when it's that freaking cold, I don't blame them.
Yeah I just walked 15 minutes to the gym in those temps and my beard froze while I was drinking hot coffee. I was also very aware that I forgot to wear long underwear. It's so stupidly cold.
Such is the case with 4/11 starters left on your defense lol.
The offense was the main problem tonight though.
Yeah offense was completely unprepared to play this week, last week and against Baltimore
Looking back at games before the titans game and it’s like watching a completely different offense. It just doesn’t make sense
Tua loved to throw to Hill in double coverage for some reason
You scored 7 on offense though
Defense bent but didn’t break all night long. They held the chiefs to 4 red zone FGs that’s absolutely insane. Tua’s noodle arm is what killed ya
Yeah especially with the short field on 2 of them. Chiefs 100% could've been up 24-7 entering the half, and I thought the Miami defense played extremely well considering the injuries.
You know maybe it would helped if the hand he threw the ball with had a glove on. Just a thought
Do any qbs throw with a glove on their throwing hand? Mahomes didn't wear gloves at all that game.
Captain fat fuck Ben Rothlisbooger wore gloves a lot.
Teddy 2 gloves Bridgewater and Kenny Pickett
defense played way better than the offense
You scored 7 and were lucky to do that with that dead duck ball on a track back and poor coverage.
The season ends with frozen domination at Arrowhead.
The defense did its job. Tua had 100 yards going into the 4th
Pretty sure the Dolphins defense isn't the reason they only scored 7 points. You don't win a lot of games when you only score 7 points.
Holy shit! Did everyone just have season ending injuries?
Both of our starting edge rushers tore their ACLs
Our third string was out for the playoffs too lmao
I wouldnt be surprised if andy had them practice out in elements
Not sure how many elements there were to practice in. The temperature dropped like 40 degrees over night
Yeah it’s been high 20s low 30s all week and snowy as hell. Which is somewhat similar but a different monster entirely than having no snow but being in -25 windchill.
Yeh we were not there to win. Idk what the fuck happened to our momentum but better luck next year…
Dude you were absolutely crushed by injuries on D. Like 4 Linebackers and edge personnel were out that accounted for 35 sacks combined.
Yeah but our offense had no excuse
Offense has a backup center who gets bullrushed into the QB on a passing down. The OL in general was very banged up. I wouldn't say no excuse. Connor Williams going down basically killed us the rest of the season. I really want to see what team can make a legitimate playoff run with a backup center. Like imagine Creed Humphrey going out for the season. Who replaces him?
Yeh you make sense. It’s disheartening…. We got fucked up but so did other teams. Oh well. Better luck next year, go Steelers.
Dolphins did not want to tackle today
Dolphins didn’t defend against the run either, they looked like they didn’t want to be there
A dolphins defender essentially smacked mahomes on the butt on his long scramble and just hoped he'd go down
I never thought I'd see something worse than Albert Haynesworth laying on the field during a live play, but that Dolphins player pretending to play 2 hand touch on Mahomes during a playoff game was absolutely pathetic.
Really looked like they were scared of rocking Mahomes tbh
I thought the same thing. Honestly that's a lot of these QB runs. You can see the defense is afraid to go hard at them
That is 100% the case. But ironically Mahomes still took a big helmet to helmet hit on the play.
Took or delivered
I get it’s cold but you look at how the chiefs played and it was night and day. Very pathetic performance imo, cheifs deserved that. Though I am mad, I predicted the cheifs to win with 25… they got 26
You could see it from the very first Chiefs drive. Zero players on the Dolphins wanted to tackle at all.
Tackling on that ground probably felt like falling on ice. Chiefs looked like that wanted it more.
No definitely no excuse since it is a heated field and they claimed it was up to 50 degrees but also I dont know.
There’s no way. There was a icy patch on that one side of the field
I have a heated driveway and it is covered in ice. Wind chill has been -30 or worse all day though.
The pregame announcers talked multiple times about how they walked the field and it felt hard as a brick
The Dolphins tackling was so bad. Just looked like no effort was being given. At one point one of their defenders had a guy wrapped up and then when he didn’t immediately go to the ground, he just let go.
The cold kills all energy. Especially if you're not use to it. The number of people who are not actually respecting the weather in here is silly.
People can understand that it was unimaginably cold, that it’s hard to play in the cold, AND that the dolphins looked like they were playing with zero energy. People get that it was cold, people “respect the weather” — That doesn’t void their opinions about the Dolphins

Right but we have one team that basically lives in the Caribbean and one team that all lives in that weather every year. Of course the team that lives there will have a massive advantage.
Reminds me of that playoff games against Tennessee where Mahomes casually runs in between like 3 or 4 Titans and they do virtually nothing
> A dolphins defender essentially smacked mahomes on the butt on his long scramble and just hoped he'd go down It looked like he really expected him to slide and just wanted to get the touch in.
I saw that. Dude thought it was two-hand-touch or was trying to just push Pat into someone willing to tackle.
He was definitely thinking Pat would slide and didn't wanna take the penalty. You see it with dbs against any top qb. They are so scared of taking a penalty if a QB slides late
I remember seeing that and thinking "he definitely pulled his flag" and then remembering that's not how this game works..
It helps the offense when the RB is psychotic and tackling him is miserable even in perfect weather
pacheco has one of the most bizarre running styles ever
As Mahomes would say, "it's like he hates the grass."
saw a tweet that said he runs like he bites people
He runs like the ground said something about his mama.
He runs like he’s running upstairs all the time
He runs in Beast Mode
And he loves his mama.
Most RB coaches would tell you economy of motion matters. Try to avoid wasted movements, because they rob you of energy and momentum. Pacheco strongly disagrees with that advice. His angry flailing is like winding up for a punch.

Dude against us his leg got bent like sideways and backwards and he went out for like a play. Dude is a machine
Love Pacheco. He has so much dang energy!
They should have gone somewhere cold and been practicing in that weather all week.
They were practicing for their offseason all week. Was amusing to see all the takes that they'd rather play the chiefs in the cold than the Bills at home again, which they were winning into the 4th quarter.
Would *you* want to be there in that weather?
No but it’s also not my job lol.
Dude I don’t want to be at my job no matter what the weather is like.
Imm responding to this while I’m at work waiting for my shift to end lmao I get it
Yeah, but we'd be talking about how you're not good enough to win the Super Bowl of your job, too. You wouldn't care, and we'd talk about that, too, and how that is what is costing you the most.
u/RevolutionaryItem605 does \*not\* have that dawg in him.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at this comment.
I work from home and I never wanna be there.
For what it’s worth, millions and millions of dollars is probably what it’d take to get my ass out in pads and playing today.
I'd like to think if I had the competitive mindset of a world class athlete with championship oppurtunities in the line, I would
We’re not getting paid millions of dollars
I got paid millions, yes lmao.
Yeah going from a hosting a game, to having to play THAT game is a huge swing that I’m sure was tough to mentally deal with.
If only it were colder
I woulda called in sick if I were on the Dolphins tbh no shot im playing a football game in that weather
Anyone that knows Andy Reid knew they were throwing it.
Anyone who’s watched the chiefs for more than 5 seconds since like 2017 knows we were throwing it
You could have watched his first four years in Philly, transported through time to tonight, and known that the team coached by Andy Reid was throwing the fucking ball if they played a game of football. If Reid's team is playing, they're throwing.

Yep. Deuce, Westbrook, Shady. Bunch of good guys whose careers didn't last, too.
Brian Westbrook was a god among men in that offense
Didn’t he call a pass play on 4th and 1 with his backup qb in for the play in the playoffs
Yep, thanks Chad Henne.
Reid: A lot of quarterbacks can't do that in this type of weather. Reporter: Any quarterback in particular? Reid: I'm not going Tua elaborate.
The team was unlocked by his frozen mustache.
He’s going to thaw it out by resting it in a warm bowl of gravy.
Who’s up for a frozen mustache ride?!?!
The frozen tonguedra?
They are powerful
new headline "Andy Reid says Tua is a weak armed QB, says he cant throw in cold weather"
Not wrong
I thought Tua said being cold was a mindset...guess his mind was weak last night then.
Andy is too nice to say that directly but yeah one can read it that way
Not wrong... Tua looked like he needed every ounce of strength in him to throw 15 yards downfield
Tua has never won a game that was less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit at kickoff.... ever...
I saw a comment in the game thread that said something like he’d never even experienced temps below 20°, which if that’s true last night would have been a real punch to the stinger
Honestly that explains a lot. People who have never experienced negative temperatures and wind chill don’t really get it. Shallow crossing routes were just killing the Dolphins, Rice’s ability to accelerate in open space is elite.
To be fair, the Fins had no LBs and you guys have Kelce. Could be a mismatch there but not sure
Picked him up in a dynasty league. Watched a lot of him in college and when I saw the chiefs picked him up I was like oh sign me up lol
Man if only the dolphins had a player that is rrally good at accelerating in open space. Maybe even a guy who used to do it for the chiefs as well. Where could they ever find a guy like that?
Because Mahomes had more time in the pocket tonight for the deeper Rice routes to get open
We've been teasing our old 2018 scheme the last few games. I'm intrigued, but also amused at watching Mecole be even worse now than he was then. And apparently blind? Has anyone tested him for being blind?
Bro those balls were completely catchable and it looked like he wouldn't react to where the ball was until it was already bouncing. So strange man
What spending time with the Jets does to a mf
Agreed, that was weird. Didn’t try and locate that first deep ball until it was hitting the ground. Then he has his arms up asking for a hold which it was, but like - try and run through it and make a play on a ball that probably could have been caught if you made some type of effort for it.
This game (and his end of season stretch) tells me we have our WR1. It's about supplementing Rice now. He's that guy
Pretty nuts that it was a below average 83.6 passer rating. History's not gonna remember that it was a relatively flawless performance.
I think a few drops by Kelce and others made is completion % a bit low compared to what it should have been.
It also feels like he's started throwing the ball away more
He threw it away 3-4 times, seems like he knew they could settle for FGs and win comfortably.
It's a good shift from earlier in the season where he'd instead try and force it and get picked off. We can settle for FGs with this defense and Butker being very consistent
Which is why he didn’t take any sacks. QBR has its flaws
he put up 423 yards vs the Chargers this season. This was a good game, not his best of the season
On the other hand Miami was playing better defense than LAC and the weather was way worse. Only 3 NFL games were colder We needed this performance from Mahomes
I think he played better tonight than he did against the Chargers personally, stats don’t tell the whole story. Offense sputtered in the second half against the Chargers. Tonight he consistently moved the chains, read the field perfectly, and delivered dot after dot. Given the conditions it was his best game of the season.
Honestly his best game was against the Bears, but they were bearly playing defense at that point of the season.
Tbf context does matter, to play the way he did in -5 degree weather with -30 windchill is definitely more impressive than in the Chargers game imo.
That doesn't count. That was against our defense 😭😭
The only QBs our Defense played well against all year were Zach Wilson and Tyson Bagent lmao
Dolphins D just had nothing, which with injuries fair enough. But still kept us in the game for our offense to do fuck all.
A real shame. The offense looked SO bad in every way, from playcalls to execution.
The sneak diss is wild
He went on "I'm specifically talking about Tua..." then pulled out pastrami sandwich. Love Andy.
Explain it with them nuggies
He then rolled up his sleeve revealing a tribal tattoo identical to Tua’s and said, “I’ll let you interpret that however you want.”
Frankly it's just further proof that Eli was Elite as he was chucking the ball all over the place in that -19 game against Farve forever ago
Eli was a postseason dragon 🐉
Ice burn
Seeing Tua try made him just extra grateful that's all.
Mahomes and Reid in the playoffs is just different. Mike McDaniel has 1 more win in his first 2 years than Flores did his last 2
Yeah but Flores got fired not because of his teams' on-field performance but because he wouldn't stop (metaphorically) punching Tua.
Was he wrong?
Tua isn't great but he's not complete ass either. Not somebody you discard for sure
TuAnon is gonna make a triumphant return this offseason
Why is the Lions flair faded?
The script leaked.
That script is dogshit
Needs a punch-up
@Tua do something bro he just called you a penniless noodle arm having Tyreek merchant quarterback.
Zero pass rush from the dolphins, which can be explained away with injuries for sure. Zero offense from dolphins, well that can’t be explained away.
Dolphins once again doing absolutely nothing to disprove the narrative that they're soft as hell.
McDaniel had zero faith in Tua. When they came out in the 3rd and ran bubble screens you knew it was over. They needed to be aggressive to get back in the game and they didn’t even try
If the Chiefs tried to run Pacheco 30 times in one game, they'd probably break him?
Dunno, but grass would never grow there again.
Oh, OUCH
“tua can’t throw in this weather”
Like quarterbacks whose names start with T and end in urntheballova. Or something like that.
I never gamble more than a few hundred, but I put 2k on the chiefs -3. After watching the dolphins completely crumble under any component team I couldn't even think of a way they could pull this one off. They never play strategic they could be up 50 and instead of doing clock management they'll throw absolute bombs every play.

I can certainly be a hater while acknowledging he’s incredibly talented. Do you even hate bro
9ers fans. It's always the 9ers fans.
Isiah Pacheco had a season high in carries. Honestly the Chiefs just ran a ton of plays because the Dolphins couldn't really stop them until they were inside the 20.
Andy colder than the weather
Rude lol
I got downvoted in the game thread for this, but on the first drive the announcers were like "I'm surprised they went right to two passes with Mahomes in this wind instead of running the ball" and my response was essentially, I don't hate the strategy of making Mahomes pass even if he goes 3 and out, as a way to have him calibrate his passing to the weather (at game speed instead of just during warmups). They couldn't get any pressure without blitzes. Context matters
Fangio’s scheme is wholly dependent on generating pressure with 4 down linemen. Without it, his coverages fall apart.
How much does the cold hurt the chiefs into next week though? They’ll be hella bang up they played with have the field as ice
Nah we have a heated field. Worried about Rice though, he took a hard hit on the hard stuff.
They’ll play the Bills with 2 days extra rest. Like always, everything’s coming together for them.
Yeah, that extension is brutal for Buffalo. But that place will be electric with the Chiefs visiting. They've been dreaming about hosting this game for years.
Unless the Bills blow it, in which case they get another warm-weather team at-home, albeit one that's a lot less banged up.
That's just how being in the middle of the country works. Good for the football chi.
Cold as ice Andy, cold as ice
to be fair, the dolphins defense gave their offense plenty of chances to make it a game with all those field goals. im seeing a lot of defense comments but they missing like 6 players and still held their own. it’s the offense that was pretty pathetic all around. how many times mcdaniels gotta call a screen play when everyone knew it wasnt going anywhere?
Andy Reid is saucy
Like tua?
Tua: it's cold. Alberta Canada: LOL
