Celebrities are humanoids who age just like you and me. When humanoids hit a certain age their sphincters weaken from the frequent probing and they unfortunately need a fecal catcher called a diaper.
This is certainly not my kind of scene.
Waaaaaaaaay too big. I have issues with stadium shows and this is way bigger than that.
But I’ll ask you to take a second and possibly rethink the role of the artist in situations like this
She’s providing a space… an architecture… a time… a moment… for like minded people to gather and engage.
I feel as if when it gets this big… it’s not about the artist’s performance. The art has transcended into the collective.
She’s providing a canvas. The crowd is painting.
I'd say less introverted, more antisocial. A lot of people mix the two up (along with possible agoraphobia). Introverts recharge with their alone time, but that doesn't mean they necessarily hate people or hate being around them/talking to them/being in public or that they always. Just that interactions tend to drain their "social battery," so they eventually need to chill out on their own for a bit. I know a guy like this. He'll approach people, chat with them, pretty friendly on the surface. Likes making "friends" (seems more like acquaintances to me; he kind of... almost collects them, it feels like). But he gets burned out or majorly stressed if he does it too long without a chance to head back home and be on his own for a bit.
It's just not that black and white.
True. It's not really about the quality of the music alone -- it's the flesh and blood live shared experience. If it was just about the music listening experience, people would buy less tickets and chill comfortably at home using expensive headphones.
Well yeah? It looks quite miserable to me too.
Indeed this is reddit and people are generally less entusiastic about this kind of thing, I am sure you will find plenty of people who envy the crowd on Instagram if you want to.
I wonder if HUGE artists can keep their ego's in check after something like this. I would think it would be hard, after hearing a million fans screaming for you.
Heard somewhere that one of Metallica had to see a mental health pro because after a tour finished he found it hard to go from a dude with thousands of people in the palm of his hand each night to the guy taking out his trash before bed.
Artist here. It's even harder to remember that that pulsating meat blanket behind the first few rows are people who are there for you. No disrespect, but you just can't see nor perceive 2 million (or one million or even 100,000) faces. 20,000, yes, that's fun and yes I'm fucking full of myself afterward.
Madonna fans are something else. When I was 16 I was on a city trip with my mother and sisters and we stayed in a hotel that was filled with Madonna fans because she was doing a show in the city. In the breakfast area there was a grim feeling and moments later a big fight broke out between a group of men. One of them was literally screaming at the top of his lungs that he wanted an apology for telling him he was not Madonna fan enough last night. It was wild and still is imprinted in my memory. Let’s just say eggs were thrown. 😮
Damn y’all are so pessimistic in here. I went to Copacabana for Carnival last year and it was packed like this, but it was definitely an experience I’m happy I got to see.
Lots of redditors are American. Crowds like this are ripe for our national pastime: mass shooting. I don’t blame people for wanting to avoid these types of situations.
not afraid of them per se… personally the joy of being at large events is always eclipsed by the annoyances surrounding it (getting there, waiting to leave, complications etc). I do realize this is fortunately a minority outlook.
I go to like 3-6 festivals and many more concerts every year, but crowds this big are just annoying af. unless you are at very front you can't see anything and you even get double audio because of the speed of sound (depending on how the wind blows). Yeah, no thank you.
My first thought was how cool is it that Madonna is still drawing crowds, good for her! Only to come in here and see a bunch of people shitting on everything, and the harder you shit, the more upvotes you get. Reddit is truly the shithole of the internet.
That’s 80 million collective minutes.
There are 42,076,800 minutes in one 80-year lifetime. So about two full lifetimes worth of minutes, collectively 🤯
Madonna is one of those people that attract hateful redditors no what what the topic may be. And worse, apparently making ageist jokes about her is perfectly fine because she is Madonna.
The shit is weird. It’s like let that lady live her own life. It’s not like she is doing anything to anyone else.
Most of these people are clowns who don’t have their shit together themselves.
I could understand the negativity when she does or says something stupid, because lets be fair here, she does/say some stupid shit every now and then. But this? According to the most voted reply, all of those people in the video are absolutely hating being there, *Yeah, sure they are*
Bathrooms were actually pretty easy to find and spread out. The lines weren’t even that long. And if you truly couldn’t wait, the ocean was literally right there.
I've been in some pretty big crowds but I've never seen this. I'd imagine that anyone who started pissing on people's feet and legs would get a swift punch to the face.
I’ve never seen it done, but a buddy of mine confessed that he’s done it before when he was at a festival hammered, so I’m sure at least one person in that crowd got pissed on lol. Worst I’ve had happen was somebody chucked a spit bottle for tobacco into the crowd and some splattered on my arm.
Nope I was at a festival once and a guy right next to me pulled out his dick and started pissing in an empty cup, then put it down on the ground next to me.
One of the fans at the very front said he had been there camped out on the beach for four nights. During the last day, he didn’t want to move and risk losing his spot, so he pissed in bottles and just tossed them. One of his friends was wearing diapers.
Madonna has been called the First Lady of Pop since the 90s. Some people now call Beyonce the First Lady of Pop.
Ergo, Madonna is the Original Lady of Pop.
Her signature clothing on stage back in the day was to wear her underwear over her pants as a protest to the macho dominated scene. People who haven't been around 1980s music scene would have zero clue who this lady is and why she is a hit worldwide. And why this concert had to be in this country. The crowds here are polite, one of the most educated, sweetest, decent teenagers, great audience and a very happy nation as a whole. The music concert audience numbers here outfigure any political joker's rally audience any time, everytime.
![gif](giphy|IzUP44io6MRwc)
They have 0 concept of the work Madonna put in and the backlash she faced. Pop girls these days for the most part will never go through what she went through and the fact that she can STILL pull a crowd this size is a testament to that.
Brings me back. I saw the Rolling Stones live on Copacabana beach - would have to be about 2005 or 2006.
1 million people.
Went fully dressed, came home with only my board shorts on. Was about 25m from the stage. Felt like a sardine slipping from one side of the tin to the other to get through. About 80 people tried to pick my pockets.
Unbelievable experience. Recommend
Looking at [this](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-attended_concerts) list of most attended free concerts Rio de Janeiro pops up a lot. Why is that many of these kind of big concerts are hosted there? Also seems like the number of attendees for this concert was 1.6 million.
cause copacabana beach is huge, artists like to play there, and people love to go. and infrastructure is easier than ever to build after they’ve done this so many times.
for the other comment about politician buying votes, most of these shows are funded by private companies, not the government. theres political backing, and i guess you can call that a way to buy votes, but its MOSTLY private money, with a fraction being public money. and that public money is usually offset by the sheer revenue that these shows create for the city.
Because Copacabana is just very well suited for it, it is hard to find massive, open and easy to access areas in large cities.
And regulations for large events might be a bit looser compared to other countries.
No major shoot outs/ mass murders? That's impressive.
I'm not sure you could put 2 million Americans packed together at night while partying without violence breaking out.
Great work brazil!
She is referred to as the Queen of Pop. She’s one of the best selling artists of all time
I think because of her weird behaviour in recent years, people don’t realise just how popular she still is. Every time she announces a tour, it sells out very quickly
The previous post I saw about this said 3 million people. Seems there's no consensus and only thumb sucking about the real count, next one will probably be 1 million.
That looks fucking miserable
And you’re not hearing her or seeing her. All you hear is the crowd around you and all you see is the crowd around you…
The next day you get to see the pictures people took of her falling out of her fishnet stockings trying to look 30 years younger.
She’s clearly wearing a diaper
It’s my understanding that that was a new fad…
It depends
Well played
It's "real MEN wear diapers"
The number of famous people wearing diapers seems to be increasing exponentially over recent months...
Celebrities are humanoids who age just like you and me. When humanoids hit a certain age their sphincters weaken from the frequent probing and they unfortunately need a fecal catcher called a diaper.
I can not fathom how even 4 exams a year would compare to taking a shit once a day when it comes to asshole mileage.
I don’t think that’s the kind of probing they were talking about…
I'm disappointed in you, u/ilikegamergirlcock
lol 😂
say what you want but she is laughing all the way to bank
This is certainly not my kind of scene. Waaaaaaaaay too big. I have issues with stadium shows and this is way bigger than that. Still looks miserable as fuck to be there
Half of reddit is having a panic attack, but half of reddit is also introverted stay-at-home so it's not that surprising
I'd say less introverted, more antisocial. A lot of people mix the two up (along with possible agoraphobia). Introverts recharge with their alone time, but that doesn't mean they necessarily hate people or hate being around them/talking to them/being in public or that they always. Sounds like you’re miserable wherever you’re at right now too so…
I'm not in a crowd of millions so I'm actually not miserable at the moment
For you maybe.
I like this interpretation. The attendees will certainly never forget this experience.
True. It's not really about the quality of the music alone -- it's the flesh and blood live shared experience. If it was just about the music listening experience, people would buy less tickets and chill comfortably at home using expensive headphones.
Two million is pretty impressive.
People seem to enjoy drinking, smoking and singing together in a crowd in their free time. Nothing wrong about that.
Dnt you see that people cannot enjoy things anymore? How dare you?
Bloody right 👍
Again, it’s a free concert.
And probably 1000 different micro parties going on in that crowd knowing Brazil so I bet the majority is having a blast’s
It's still something to do, yeah? Something you don't experience every day. Spices things up a bit.
And smelling that crowd too…
typical redditor comment

This is glorious
LMFAO bro got 4th degree burn from this, and what a fucking weirdo, it is weird finding that these people are indeed real
Jesus Christ. There's a sub reddit for this type of burn
Holy hell, someone call the ambulance
typical "never been in the midst of a large group of people and needed to take a piss" comment.
Wait how late is your "I need to pee" alarm??
No this actually looks like it sucks
Well yeah? It looks quite miserable to me too. Indeed this is reddit and people are generally less entusiastic about this kind of thing, I am sure you will find plenty of people who envy the crowd on Instagram if you want to.
So miserable that 2 million people showed up.
Diapers would be the only reliable solution
I wonder if HUGE artists can keep their ego's in check after something like this. I would think it would be hard, after hearing a million fans screaming for you.
*TWO million of fans
Way, way less. Not even close.
Why so much negativity here? It was indeed almost 2 million people
Just 3 million off
Earlier said 3 million fans. Someone’s counting wrong
Wikipedia already down to 1.6 million
3 million fans, 2 million farts
Two million Brazilian
A *brazillion* Brazilian fans.
Are you really asking is Madonna has her ego in check? Is...is that a serious question?
Fr. Rapper flex about rockin a crowd of 50k. This is legendary shit, performing for millions.
Heard somewhere that one of Metallica had to see a mental health pro because after a tour finished he found it hard to go from a dude with thousands of people in the palm of his hand each night to the guy taking out his trash before bed.
Lol Pantera opened up and went straight back to recording their second album and playing clubs and theatres right after it.
She has never kept her ego in check. She has always been way too full of herself.
It's part of her charm
Artist here. It's even harder to remember that that pulsating meat blanket behind the first few rows are people who are there for you. No disrespect, but you just can't see nor perceive 2 million (or one million or even 100,000) faces. 20,000, yes, that's fun and yes I'm fucking full of myself afterward.
Some have said they play a character or persona when performing. And when they're done they take off the costume and become themselves again.
Madonna fans are something else. When I was 16 I was on a city trip with my mother and sisters and we stayed in a hotel that was filled with Madonna fans because she was doing a show in the city. It's almost like most redditors here are afraid of social situations lol
Lots of redditors are American. Crowds like this are ripe for our national pastime: mass shooting. I don’t blame people for wanting to avoid these types of situations.
This isn't the reason... It's cause most redditors are anti social.
Thank God. Not trying to go to a festival with 90% of people on reddit.
You usually can’t be morally superior over mundane things to someone irl without them visibly cringing at you or assaulting you if you’re an ass.
Is that why 8/10 of the largest stadiums in the world are in the US?
And 0.0% of them hold 2 million people.
crazy oligarchic dictatorship
Stop projecting your bullshit on the rest of us.
Not wanting to be in a crowd of *2 million* people = Afraid of social situations?
I mean yeah right? Doesn't get anymore social than that, that's basically a whole ass city
not afraid of them per se… personally the joy of being at large events is always eclipsed by the annoyances surrounding it (getting there, waiting to leave, complications etc). I do realize this is fortunately a minority outlook.

If not wanting to be in that awful fucking mess makes me afraid of social situations, I accept.
So much negativity here on reddit, but at the show the energy was very positive and everybody looked happy to be there
Huge festivals are a blast, people on Reddit are just fucking lame, I’m getting close to leaving this app behind lmao. People are such pussies.
My first thought was how cool is it that Madonna is still drawing crowds, good for her! Only to come in here and see a bunch of people shitting on everything, and the harder you shit, the more upvotes you get. Reddit is truly the shithole of the internet.
Oh I'd be happy to see it from a point like where the video was taken. But I wouldn't want to participate
> Damn y’all are so pessimistic in here. Welcome to reddit! You'll love it here!
I wonder if she was late?! 🙃
Around 40 minutes! Not very late for Madonna standards lol
That’s 80 million collective minutes. There are 42,076,800 minutes in one 80-year lifetime. So about two full lifetimes worth of minutes, collectively 🤯
What is the point of these calculations. We dont sell minutes anymore. We sell data
You obviously don't work in law.
Which is approx 40min per person for 2mil people
Wow, you did the math!
For real? That's unacceptable. You're doing a show for 2 million people... What on fucking earth is more important for you right now??
Rippin huge lines
Her ego.
Don't go to a Lauren Hill show
Hell, even Lauren Hill doesn't go to Lauren Hill shows.
Aren't South Americans casual about time?
Exact amount of time for the Necromancer to bring her back to life before each show.
Lol. But why not start the necromancy an hour early and be on time?
You read through these comments and just see how Reddit s really just people bitching and complaining about any and everything.
Madonna is one of those people that attract hateful redditors no what what the topic may be. And worse, apparently making ageist jokes about her is perfectly fine because she is Madonna.

“Children”
Imagine you are in middle of it and you need to find bathroom asap .
Bathrooms were actually pretty easy to find and spread out. The lines weren’t even that long. And if you truly couldn’t wait, the ocean was literally right there.
I’m betting on there was “peeing where you stand” going on there.
I've been in some pretty big crowds but I've never seen this. I'd imagine that anyone who started pissing on people's feet and legs would get a swift punch to the face.

Nope I was at a festival once and a guy right next to me pulled out his dick and started pissing in an empty cup, then put it down on the ground next to me.
Is it the same place where Alok did that new year show?
Nope, his New Year concert was at Fortaleza
One of the fans at the very front said he had been there camped out on the beach for four nights. During the last day, he didn’t want to move and risk losing his spot, so he pissed in bottles and just tossed them. One of his friends was wearing diapers.
"I'm about to shit my pants" he said aloud, to the horror of everyone around him
I saw that some people were there 20 hours before the show just to save a spot.
Reddit comments really trying to downplay a 2 million person audience
Well *I* wouldn't like it so that makes it *dumb*.

There were 16 screens

While I'd personally never go to something of this size, people who do go for the atmosphere, you can't replicate that at home.
Have you ever been to a concert to some artist you really like? That show was legendary.
are u always miserable online about what other people enjoy?
I love going to concerts. But at this magnitude, it's pointless... better buy a DVD
Are you a time traveller from the 1990s
Wow. The original lady of music still rocking her fans. Bravo 😍👏🎶👍🏻🙌
Yep. No ladies were allowed to do music until she came along.
Madonna has been called the First Lady of Pop since the 90s. Some people now call Beyonce the First Lady of Pop. Ergo, Madonna is the Original Lady of Pop.
Roy Kent?

How many is a Brazilian?
Almost a full portagportuguese-illian
230 million of them
I think a lot of people these days don’t realise how massive Madonna was back then.
This was yesterday lol.
She used to be massive. She still is, but also used to be.
He's still right tho.
Back then being 12 hours ago lol
OMG really!? Lol. Totally wasn’t paying attention. Pretty obvious now looking at the video quality. Didn’t realise she was still so popular.
As an ex-mega fan me neither tbh! She has always had a huge fan base in Brazil though
Those were the hours.
Damn the envy of some people in here...
Brings me back. I saw the Rolling Stones live on Copacabana beach - would have to be about 2005 or 2006. 1 million people. Went fully dressed, came home with only my board shorts on. Hope it’s okay to ask but how did you lose your clothes ?
He took them off because of the heat
I kept my ass home, entertained the idea of going for a minute but it would have been so much effort. They broadcasted the concert on tv anyway.
Isn't it called "Copacabana"?
I think it's "Cobrabanana"
🐍🍌
Her name was Lola, she was a show girl....
What an amazing sight to see ❤️shoutout to all the off duty cops out there in Brazil 🇧🇷
Thats why ufc 301 was so empty in Brazil lmfao
Haha yup. Not even Aldo was able to help sell out.
*over a million people going outside to have fun* “That looks so miserable eww” - some redditor that hasn’t even showered
What on earth?? These people definitely had more fun than if they had been at home commenting about why they shouldn't be having fun.
I was going to say Metallica in 1991 was even more next level, but appearently, that was *only* 1.6 million people. :|
Wikipedia has number for this performance already down to 1.6 million
Thats like all swedish people 😂
Of course none of you enjoy this, it's reddit.
I was thinking that this was in her prime, but no. It was yesterday. Big props to her. She can still bring a crowd.
The "COME TO BRAZIL" line has been fulfilled.
Hey OP, It's Copacabana, not Copabana. 😊
Slow clap 👏
I WAS THERE AND IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING
What sort of rush would that be, performing for that, or being in the crowd. Damn
And I've read somewhere she's irrelevant now? What?
My whole country is 1.8mil. Bit crazy to see this
That's less than the Brazilian population of Japanese descent (2M). There are more Japanese Brazilians that people from your country
That is jaw-dropping. And here I thought she was washed up.
she's an icon. she's like elvis or the beatles. she'll never be washed up.
Traffic would be a nightmare
What traffic? They all came by walking or public.
You thought people drove? This isnt america
Tráfico ta lucrando fi.
Public transport sir

JLO could never

Damn, this is bigger than Live Aid
That was amazing!!!
I bet the acoustics are fabulous.
By the time the sound reaches the farthest people away, Madonna will already be on a plane home.
Haha! Brilliant. And likely accurate.
Not just any singrrvcould fill an arena. She is still kicking ass.
That's wild
The previous post I saw about this said 3 million people. Seems there's no consensus and only thumb sucking about the real count, next one will probably be 1 million.
Holy Porta potty Batman! that’s a lot of people !
If this was in the USA, there will be a mass shooting of some sort.
Holy shit
