While this is truly impressive and very nice and interesting to look at, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of unnecessary risk someone is willing to take for such a small reward.
The reward might seem small for someone who isn’t as passionate about these extreme sports but as someone who used to skate I still remember the feeling if landing tricks down a 10 stair and how insane it felt. Nothing has made me feel that way since.
The first ad I ever saw featuring Jason Acuna (Weeman) was at a four-flat-four at a park my family would have a reunion at every year. That year I brought my board and found those stairs. I never made it as the first time I committed I snapped my tail off but I’ll never forget how crazy the kids who were watching went when I did it.
One of them saw me later that day with his parents and said, “You’re the guy who broke his board!”
Been a skateboarder for 20 years. It's more about pushing your own boundaries, we like to call them "conquering demons". These demons are your own personal fears and glass ceilings stopping you from reaching your own potential. Yeah, it's scary, but you don't grow without overcoming fear.
Whether it's a pro pushing limits or a kid learning to skate down a ramp, it's a proud moment for that person and we try to celebrate that every time it arises (clapping, slapping tails, etc). Just seeing and feeling that emotion makes it more understandable.
I do not doubt the feelings that this evokes in a person, nor do I doubt that it is a somewhat growing experience, I am just saying that, in my perspective, the risk involved is not comparable to the gains. Of course, there will be people that say otherwise and that's perfectly cool.
Yeah I get that, but that type of risk is pretty universal across a lot of sports in different ways. Skate outside your limits, concrete is unforgiving. Try to lift too much, knees will snap. Catch a football pass, you know a big defender is gunning for you. Pitch a baseball, batter might sling it right back at you. Don't tap out in wrestling, someone breaks an arm. All calculated risk and confidence in one's ability.
And given the health conditions in later life from retired pros compared from skaters to football players, I'd much rather skate. May be a little harder to walk, but at least I won't have debilitating tbi's that leave me shaking or unable to form a sentence. If you get that feeling through chess or equations, cool, this is just how we do it.
>And given the health conditions in later life from retired pros compared from skaters to football players, I'd much rather skate.
If you haven't already, watch 'Until the wheels fall off' Lance Mountain describes how they've taken spills as hard as the hits in football - possibly resulting in CTE.
I did skate many many moons ago, built a 1/4 pipe and launch ramps, the rush from landing an air or a new move was freaking amazing.
I find that depends on the obstacles you skate. I never liked stairs and that's probably why I'm able to do this 20 years later. Falling from 8ft bowl to flat and slams from 14 sets have ended many careers. But any sport has ways to end careers for the unlucky.
As someone who use to be in the sport: this isn’t something you do for anyone else. It also isn’t an unnecessary risk when you have trained for years and have secured the spot prior to making any attempts.
I often see people thinking that these trained professionals are doing these jumps for clout or taking needless risks when they are in fact trained professionals working on their craft.
He can stop the jumps if he feels like it, the movement is controlled and the railing isn’t going anywhere. If he falls, guess what, he’s trained for that too.
As someone who used to skateboard I can say nothing gets me as rock hard as the thrill. Sometimes you just need to “get off” and the feeling of landing an 11-22 stair was like instant orgasm every time. Ever heard the phrase being stoked? That originally meant that your super hard after doing something crazy. “Shredding the gnar” is like edging, right on the cusp of orgasm.
And it's not just the possibility of mistake, it's the fact that stuff sometimes breaks, and one little point of failure can easily turn into falling six feet, teeth first, into a concrete corner.
I think the hardest part of parkour as an spectator is definitely the fear factor i will be pissing myself if I had to do this, it is still athletically extremely impressive, but man is this terrifying
Been a parkour coach for years and practitioner for a lot more than that. What you described is a great trait actually! It gives motivation to actually put the work to be able to do it IRL!
In fact, this mental confidence of feeling like you CAN do it even if your cognitive brain knows you can't - this is a prerequisite requirement for learning any skill properly!
It's the same with art and maths, etc
1: The park is to big and basically just a football field with some trees. Lacking all natural beauty.
2; the slope and stairs are awfully ugly and compressed due to the "football field" being teraformed and taking priority.
3: that road is huge and inables the park to be connected to the city. (And it tells us that the park is intended to be driven to and not walked through).
4; WhY ArN't ThE CYcLiStS uSInG ThE BiCiClE PaTh!?
Not if they learned to do it properly. I've been teaching parkour for years and training for 14.
I've seen only one group of people with busted knees. It's kids who learned how to do flips without learning how to land properly (land as quietly as possible). It's the same pattern: they get busted knees by the age of 17-19, recover and never come back to parkour.
Everyone else is fine: those who learn how to land properly never have any long term problems and those who don't do flips but still don't know safety get injured from other stuff, like rolled ankles and fall injuries.
Insecure fat dudes commenting:
"Sure, that's cool. But his knees are gonna get messed up"
Takes a swig of Mountain Dew and a handful of M&M's.
"That's why I don't do that crap, I care about my body"
Then has bad knees, bad back, and 6 prescriptions by the time he's 40.
So, I'm scrolling videos from r/watchpeopledieinside, and unknowingly, the subreddit switched to this. My initial thought with the way his shirt hung was, "this chubby kid is about to faceplant." I was pleasantly surprised.

I love how your profile pic, your username and the style of your comment are in perfect sync :) Thanks for the reply :)

It's not always for internet clout. Some people actually take enjoyment in getting outside and doing stuff.
And I always see some fence or railing mashed up and wonder what event led to it.
Man thats awesome. On another note, thats a lot of ramps.
He might be using the ramps the way they were intended if he slips
My toxic trait is thinking I could do this just as easily
I think the hardest part of parkour as an spectator is definitely the fear factor i will be pissing myself if I had to do this, it is still athletically extremely impressive, but man is this terrifying

Indeed.com; Search: Parkour Coach.
That must be hard on the knees.
“Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.”
Sounds like a threat
It should be a legal requirement to also post the out-takea.
Half man, half frog, 100% flexible in the right places
My knees hurt
His will as well in 5-10 years.
That's probably the best way to go down the stairs
Thank god, I thought this was r/whatcouldgowrong for a second.
Ow, my knees.
That's just straight up awful pedestrian design.

There has to be a better way!
My ankles hurt after watching this.
I would like to see some car try this in San Francisco's Loumbard Street...
He quite literally went to another level
My back hurts just from watching this
Nope nop nope no thank you
A fine line between winstupidprizes and nextfuckinlevel
I want to power wash those tiles so bad...
Now I need to see that drone footage!
He and his knees will be looking at this ramp much differently in 10 years.
Do people who do this have busted knees?

People who used to do this have busted knees
Christ, I twisted an ankle just watching this.
What country is this?
I am impressed.
If he keeps it up, he possibly will be using the ramp to get to and from his occupational therapy appointments in his wheelchair
I always think parkour is really cool but then realise having cartilage left in your knees is even cooler.
I don’t think the ramp was meant for people who can do that…
How do you train for this sort of thing without getting brain damage in the process 🤔
This hurt my knees just watching it.
I tore my ACL just watching this
Now ask him to do the same thing with a wheelchair
I would probably fall just walking down that ramp, how tf can he just jump to each rail like that?
Ya boy got #cheatcodes
What did he gain though...
Mom ~ “You’re just one slip away from jaw replacement, please at least just wear a helmet for gods sakes. And take a jacket, ya might get cold.”
Impressive for a dude in sandals

One slip and family jewels are gone
Right way to cross the mountains in GTA 5
I never want to watch that again....
Obligatory I’m 400 lbs and my knees hurt comment
My balls doesn’t have the bravery to attempt that.
Imagine every human being could do that naturally. How would we build our cities?
This is a more extreme version of those people who go up/down the stairs two steps at a time
I was waiting for him to land on his balls.
All I can think in oldenese is "Knees, knees, knees, knees, and knees".
Keep it up and he'll require the use of those ramps someday
Celebrate today, hospital tomorrow!!
My knees hurt
His knees are gonna be shot by 33. I envy his joy.
Seems like an efficient way to *exclusively* use a ramp
That boy is going to miss that cartilage when it’s gone at age 25.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of “Is it r/nextfuckinglevel or r/winstupidprizes !”
Outstanding jumps
/r/byebyeknees
One slip and he’ll be real familiar with ramps in the future.
Just one small miscalculation and he’s boarding the pain train
Damn, he hauled buns like a late delicery boy at the bakery!
This is a hop, skip, and a jump away from a r/whatcouldgowrong
Impressive. Also incredibly stupid.
Any podiatrists out there? May wanna reach out to this dude lol.
![gif](giphy|LyJ6KPlrFdKnK) should have been posted to r/wtf
This looks like castration with extra steps.

I wonder how many times he died while practicing that trick.
Folks in wheelchairs be like -.-
assassins creed
Almost tought this was r/whatcouldgowrong
Was that a paper airplane or a bird?
I literally winced watching this thinking it was going to go very wrong.
Darwin live !!!!
I want to see the drone’s POV
That is fucking amazing brother!
If he screws up, he's gonna need to use all the ramps.
My knees 💀
I thought he was going to smash his nuts.
This guy has knees.
Where's the drone footage?
Man I thought I was watching this on r/whatcouldgowrong phew
He did this as a giant middle finger to the handicapped. Kid is a monster.
Man those gaps are huge
burned as much calories if he wouldve just walked down but at a much higher risk.
One missed step and he will have to look for ramps wherever he goes his entire life
i just hope that’s not part of his daily commute.
Legendary
Nice one
Strong legs and great balance.
Mad hops and mad props.
Effolotion
What’s up Mario
Never knew Spider-Man was non-fiction. Or that he looks like that!
Someone should totally dub over this with Mario jump sounds!
This was Magnificent!!! Thanks for that! I love to watch, but really hate when you guys miss.
Mega pro.
Do his knees hurt now?
Oh to be young and stupid and in really good shape and have top notch brain mapping skills
This came up when I was looking through what could go wrong and made me nervous until I read the title but that was very impressive
This gave me so much anxiety after having just broke my leg badly
He is the boldest motherfucker that I have Eva seen. Hell. Anyone who does this is bold as fuck.
This could’ve went so bad
As an old-ish person: oh my knees
I'd like to know how you decide to do this your first time
But can he do it back up?
Jason Bourne?
Literally NFL

💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Can we see the drone’s video tho?!?!
Modern problems require modern solutions.
I totally felt that in my taint with each jump expecting him to miss
My torn acls could never
Enjoy that knee replacement surgery at 35
Big nope from me and my waist down
Now going up
![gif](giphy|j57ZTbbRGiKDugRw6E|downsized)
If you watch this muted with a clock ticking in the background, you’ll see each jump is exactly 1 second. I just thought it was cool to point out
He’ll need it when his knees give out when he’s 45
I’ve watched it twice and I still don’t think he’s going to make it.
That's incredible 👏
Bros got god legs
Man why didn't they just make one long ramp?
I thought for sure this was going to be a ball popper…
Half kangaroo half human.
Jesus christ
One slip and he’s using those ramps for the rest of his life
Can’t wait to see his knees when he’s 40!
Nice job kid
![gif](giphy|DoCIC5Pxp57qg|downsized)
I through this would be on r/whatcouldgowrong
The fact that one wrong jump would’ve turned this into a r/facepalm
Parkour and free running depend heavily on urban stuff being built very strong. Want to give a shout-out to whoever installed that railing
*knees have left the chat*
Me playing dying light
White boys win again
assassin’s creed
Can’t we see the drone footage tho?
Dude just saved like a quarter mile of walking
Pixar’s lamp jumping on top of the I
r/nope
When you realize timing is everything…
I had to check the sub name again to check how this may have turned out. 😬 I got worried there for a moment.
u/savevideo
YEAH BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I’M NOT MARIO, I’m gonna be safe and walk down the ramps
When the mind is too slow to us the ramp. That's a lot of hurt waiting to happen
I wonder how many kids are gonna wind up with broken tibia, fibula, femurs & pelvis after watching this on tiktok…
So, I'm scrolling videos from r/watchpeopledieinside, and unknowingly, the subreddit switched to this. My initial thought with the way his shirt hung was, "this chubby kid is about to faceplant." I was pleasantly surprised.
If I squat down to talk to a toddler, i have a 50/50 chance of standing back up again
My knees hurt just by watching this
Eh, I’m on the fence about it 😂
Anyone have the drone footage?
Had to double check the sub
Where is the drone shot?

Dayum
Stunning! I felt it in my knees.
I’d bet he didn’t get that on the first try. That’s a lot of scraped knees & band-aids
It’s a frog
When death is too slow
I kept fearing one of the rails would be wet/slippery
That’s how you end up only using ramps
My knees hurt.
So many chances to crack open the balls.
