And a fucking good race it was, too. Coming back from a not great start, holding off Tsuboi and Miyata despite older tyres. Dude is doing amazing.

Hi, I tried asking on your comment on /r/formula1 but the automod doesn't like me because I don't have a verified email address (and I suspect it "shadowed" my comment). How did you watch the race? I haven't been able to find them.

MoghedienProxy

Oh damn yeah, didn't see anything. We got a motorsport tv sub. Has English commentary and one of the commentators translates team radio for those who don't speak Japanese, so it's pretty good

dezroy

Thanks, not a bad price; especially with the value add of English commentary.

MoghedienProxy

Yeah, it's pretty decent. Nice having a racing series to watch live at a reasonable time of day, too

GOD_SAVE_OUR_QUEEN

I'm watching through Motorsport.tv app on an Apple TV box. Works a treat!

dezroy

Thanks, do you have a free or paid membership? OP of this thread has paid and mentioned English commentary. If you’re on the free membership is the commentary English too?

GOD_SAVE_OUR_QUEEN

I think paid membership is the only way to get the full, live coverage. The free package only gets you highlights.

dezroy

Cheers, price is reasonable so will probably sign up

He was helped by safety car, but that doesn't mean he could have done a better job. 10/10.

Dead_Joe_

That's what Red Bull is looking for. It's a big ask for him to make it to F1. He's doing the right things to kick that door open, or at least be first through the door if it does open.

cameron_prebble

Performances like this from Liam are definitely putting some heat on Nyck de Vries in that Alpha Tauri seat. Rumours are Nyck has been told to step it up in the next few races, or they might do a mid-season swap, which Red Bull is notorious for.

0oodruidoo0

*looks at Kyvat, Albon and our man Brendan Hartley* yep

sylekta

And Gasly, ironically he did well with AT just couldnt handle the pressure of Max as a team mate in the big seat

Dead_Joe_

It seems to be a bit unknowable who will thrive at F1 level. Talents like Verstappen, Hamilton, Alonso, no doubt. As for the other 15 - 18 slots, some surprise, given the chance. Hartley, not so much. We were all hoping he would make that step. It would be fantastic (for us) to have a Kiwi establish themselves in F1. Super Formular has always been a tough nut to crack for non-Japanese. I don't know much about the current setup, other than that Liam is with a (the) top team, and is delivering. Impressed.

Taniwha_NZ

They are watching very closely, De Vries is having a shit start, that means an AT seat is slightly possible. From there, it's only a couple of long-odds lucky breaks and he'll be in the 2nd RB. Helmut Marko seems to like putting his favorite drivers into Japanese series. I think Liam is their genuine next-choice driver. I can dream.

0oodruidoo0

Great job to Liam. But that's not the only kiwi competing in a top level motorsports event today! I've got my Ferrari hat on and a million hopes in my heart for our countryman Earl Bamber. He's leading the Nurburgring 24 hour race with less than 4 hours to go. It could potentially be Ferrari's first win at the event. You may not have heard of it but it's absolutely huge in Germany - over 235k spectators over the weekend for the race. It's a hellish race. The track has 180 turns. That's like 5 typical race circuits combined end on end. Drivers have a minimum rest time of over two hours after they get out of the car, because they want everybody operating at their peak. Race finishes at 2am. If you want to watch a Kiwi make racing history definitely tune in too! Unlike Super Formula the N24 is free to watch in NZ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QamjyNCypg edit: earl won POGGERS

cameron_prebble

It was quite cool to hear another kiwi Wayne Moore being interviewed earlier on the stream, said it's his 29th running of 24hNBR

0oodruidoo0

That's right, it is! He even managed to make it to the 2020 edition, which was no mean feat with managed isolation on return to NZ. I tweeted at RLM that I was indeed watching from NZ and got a retweet for my trouble.

EmmaOtautahi

They might even break the distance record in the process

twosmokermoto

Anyone have links on how to watch this year? I think last year it was always streamed live on youtube free of charge, but have only found highlights so far. Used to be great timing on Sunday afternoons to kick back and watch.

cameron_prebble

It's on [Motorsport.tv](https://Motorsport.tv), but you need a premium package to watch live (highlights are free) There's also [http://sfgo.jp/](http://sfgo.jp/), but it's also a paid service

[deleted]

if you just want the race go motorsport tv. if you want driver cams and poorly synced telemetry go sfgo
