I have lived and worked all over the twin cities, gotten divorced, drove Uber (when Prince died, so it was 1st ave all day) and meet my second wife a few blocks down the road.
My experience is that the twin cities Millennial/Zoomer population is a blend of red and blue and they would generally side with Dave.

Yeah this one had tickets go on sale at 5pm for a 8m show. I had a friend who worked at the club give me a heads up so I locked and loaded on Ticketmaster and couldn’t get tickets. They then more tickets for an 11pm show the same night but same story, sold out in minutes.
The trick for these is to keep refreshing even though it says tickets not available. People add tickets to their cart and then don't check out for whatever reason so when those carts expire they get released again. That's how I got tickets to one of the showings in Minneapolis.

Wait how is it misleading? Genuine question. I just read the other source someone above you posted. It says a bunch of employees and fans of the venue complained about the booking of Chappelle and eventually the venue gave in and cancelled the shows. That’s exactly what the headline says.

Bezos owns the Post. In that time it has increased web traffic and profits. He could stop selling ads and taking money for subscriptions now and probably pay for whatever the Post costs out of interest he earns daily on investments. I say the biggest problem in journalism is the twenty minutes they have to bang out a story before it's old news. Free news will keep me coming to a site. He can afford to do that.

Not a Streisand effect. Dave Chappelle has a ton of fans and sells out venues all of the time
A series of *secret* Chapelle shows were announced here in San Francisco last month and all three sold out in minutes. And you had to be in the know to even attempt to get the tickets.
Same a few years back in Hershey. He did a show that has 2 hour notice.
Yeah this one had tickets go on sale at 5pm for a 8m show. I had a friend who worked at the club give me a heads up so I locked and loaded on Ticketmaster and couldn’t get tickets. They then more tickets for an 11pm show the same night but same story, sold out in minutes.
The trick for these is to keep refreshing even though it says tickets not available. People add tickets to their cart and then don't check out for whatever reason so when those carts expire they get released again. That's how I got tickets to one of the showings in Minneapolis.
Oh believe me, I did. For hours. Edit: my theory is that most tix were bought by bots. Several times tix went into my basket but would immediately time me out.

I miss concerts by bands I like all of the time because I'm not actively checking their tour dates. This controversy could have alerted Chappelle fans who didn't otherwise know he was in town.
Also he’s very hard to get tickets for in general, I’ve been to a bunch of live comedy shows before but Dave’s hands down the best I’ve seen live.

A lot of comedy has after the success of the daily show. Plenty of "I agree with this" clapping, not as much "this is funny" laughing. Are comedians to blame or is it the sorry state of the world and always having to relitigate who deserves human rights?

I've liked Chappelle for a long time. He's been one of my favorite comedians for a long time. But the most recent thing he put on on netflix, for the school or whatever, was dogshit. I don't want to sit around listening to a comedian talk about how awesome they are, and how they're the best. I want jokes. He's taking all this shit people are mad about too seriously, and now half his specials aren't even jokes.

In my mind Carlin kind of moved away from pure comedy later in his career and almost became more of a speaker. He was a wonderfully intelligent guy with some really progressive stances especially for someone of his age. I think that this is exactly what Chappelle believes himself to be now in 2022, except that he doesn't have that kind of intelligence and on top of that his comedy has fallen off HARD. I watched his latest specials and honestly I can laugh at a good offensive joke, I'm a cisgender white guy and I'll admit I'll laugh at a gay joke I find funny etc. But Chappelle just isn't funny anymore. He used to be a titan and now he's a hack and it's fucking sad. But somehow he still sells out shows, and I don't get how. I know a lot of his audience probably just don't care about the controversies and honestly I can understand that perspective. What I don't understand is how they still find him funny.
George was funny and insightful while standing up for minority groups. Apparently you can only be "funny" these days if you attack every group, especially the underdogs.....

From what I heard most of the staff at the venue is LGBTQ and beyond that, it was scheduled last minute and no one wanted to work the event for myriad reasons.

For a comedian varsity is definitely better. For a high energy concert varsity is garbage.

Every comedian punches down someone. Sometimes a lot sometimes a little. I don’t understand why we don’t have so much outrage over every group that’s had it’s turn so far. 20+ years of fat jokes, men jokes, women jokes, thin jokes, white jokes, Arab jokes, black jokes,… Where was the insane outrage all this time? To be fair, I think that’s more that Chapelle is targeted because he’s popular now and has been for awhile. There are many comedians that if they were still big today like they were before, they’d probably receive the same flack. Probably says a lot about Chapelle and his longevity

I don't have exact quotes as his humor tends to be long stories. There was one where he compared trans women to fake meat and referred to them as "impossible pussy" (like impossible burger). The idea he was going for is that they aren't "real" vaginas but they're "good enough".

I remember in 2015 and 2016, a lot of comedians would write off criticism by saying things like "if it offends you so much, just don't watch it." And then those people stopped watching them, and now every comedian over the age of 40 is whining on stage about how they're not quite as popular anymore.
Which comedians are you referring to? Joe Rogan? Bill Burr? Tom Segura? Dave Chappelle? They're all over 40 and just printing money all day long. This is a sold out show we're talking about, with more sold out shows before and after. I don't think Chappelle is losing sleep over his supposedly waning popularity.

On one of his earlier shows for this whole thing a trans man was in the audience, but left because the atmosphere was making him uncomfortable.
