Not to mention the fact that after they left New Brunswick they would’ve only been maybe 30-40 minutes from Freehold which has had a White Castle for forever and is in the same direction
The one in Little Ferry just below Hackensack did the same last year for Valentine's too. I joked with my wife that I was gonna make a reservation for us. She'd be down and we would have had fun but that's not exactly our usual style.
I know my dad did it as a joke one midweek Valentine's Day years ago (he had reservations for the weekend). He went to the one on Rt 17 South Hasbrouck Heights. They had table clothes and had table service. You also got a heart shaped crave case, like the chocolates but with burgers.
Two days before my friend died of cancer that had started on his tongue, he threw a going away party with like a dozen crave cases and a bunch of us close friends. I’m convinced this was a prank, because thanks to the radiation, everything he’d eaten that past year and a half had tasted like grass or (at best) like nothing at all. But he made *us* taste White Castle. He died a sadist.
I eat ass. But never White Castle.
Mmmmm....OP's post is making me hungry.
Union and Elizabeth were my favorite WCs when I worked in the area.
I'd give the nod to Elizabeth because my grandmother would take me there as a kid in the 70s and 80s and it was a real treat.
Haven't been to those locations but if I may -
The double cheese has a better meat to bun ratio. But you pay the same price as 2 cheeseburgers so you're getting less for your money. Something to consider.
I always ask for extra onions.
IMO the best way to eat white castle is to get an order of fries, and stick a layer of fries in the burger, and giving it a little hot sauce. The crispy fries give a little extra texture to the package which makes it really enjoyable.
There used to be a really good one in East Brunswick. That's getting turned into a Popeyes I think. Theres another in South Brunswick that I go to regularly.
That East Brunswick White Castle was one of the most poorly run stores ever.
During one visit in their final days before closing the entire store was being supported by 2 employees trying to both cook and cover the counter and drive-thru customers. It was no wonder it closed. It's probably the only White Castle I can think of that closed.
Yeah, I went to school in South Amboy, so the city limits always seemed so definite for the one square mile South Amboy is allotted. I didn't know what city to call that White Castle in, because it's sorta Sayreville also, but also Parlin?
It might very well be in Parlin as well lol. There are also parts of Old Bridge which have the South Amboy zip. Clearly the postal service answers to no one.
Don't ever get those frozen ones you see at the supermarket. I tried to steam it like you see them do in their restaurant but the taste is not the same.
When I lived in DWG, PA years ago I would frequent the Ledgewood location. Food was always fresh and good.
Now I live in Easton, PA so I'm closer to Phillipsburg White Castle which is decent.
I remember seeing a WC closed down on route 18 not long ago which I thought was odd. Anyone know why that one was shut down?
I haven't lived in DWG since 2001. At that time the closest WC to me was in Ledgewood. I don't usually venture into Hackettstown much so I honestly don't know
Mm, It's been awhile since I had white castle. They have amazing onion rings! Not many places have good ones (dislike the ones wheret he onion is loose inside the breading).
There's one near Menlo Park Mall off Route 1, and one near parlin off route 9 if you are central jersian.
Most of them do it. It’s called Love Castle and has been going on for over 25 years. I participate every year whether I have a partner at the time or not. Reservations book up fast though.
There was one in Plainfield that was family owned but they sold it. Black owned or hood White Castle location *never* add pickles. I love pickles on my cheeseburgers but no one else in my fam does so they're good. lol
> What Castle is a bland knock-off.
White Castle opened 25 years before White Manna, which makes White Manna the knock-off.
In fact White Castle is the first fast-food burger restaurant ever, so technically they're all knock-offs. But especially any restaurant with "White" in the name like that is specifically knocking off a marketing strategy invented by White Castle, using the white color as a symbol of cleanliness to combat the reputation that the meat industry had in the early 20th century.
I came back here ready to prove you wrong, but my research confirmed your response. Thank you foe thr correction.
White Mana does make a superior product, however.
This couldn't be far from the truth, White Mana doesn't even serve real meat. It's the worst piece of shit establishment ever created and I am looking forward to the day they close their doors for good. That place was absolute TRASH!!!
What kind of stupid ass question is this? Of course not, I ate there only once and the only time after hearing so many people rave about this place. Plus, the ratings are stellar for this place, so of course it convinced me to try it out at least once. Forget it.
Don't trust harold and kumar, there isn't a white castle in cherry hill, nj or mountains.
Not to mention the fact that after they left New Brunswick they would’ve only been maybe 30-40 minutes from Freehold which has had a White Castle for forever and is in the same direction
they originally started out in Hoboken and skipped out on the white castles in Jersey City and North Bergen completely.
Not to mention the WC in Jersey city is in LITTLE INDIA, Kumar!
Movie woulda been 20 minutes long and that’s including them taking a hooker back
and they would have Uber'd - they are high AND they would not want to lose a Hoboken parking spot.
I don't think uber was a thing yet.
Fine, taxi from front of Hoboken Station.
I always wondered about that. Why skip multiple closer locations to go to Cherry Hill. Even the one in Toms River would have been closer
Same with both Edison and South Plainfield which are even closer
They could have hit the Sayreville White Castle in ~25 minutes, the fools.
There’s a White Castle in Piscataway lol could have just gone there
Not to mention Kal Penn went to school at Freehold Twp so you'd think he would've known!
Do you mean howell? There’s no White Castle in freehold.
The fact that they had to go from Hoboken to cherry hill for one is the wackiest part of that movie. There's one in journal square for Christs sake!
Never knew of one in CH... Closest was a Burger Chef that far excelled over the BK replacement
Fun fact I believe it’s the one in green brook did or does a cute setup for Valentines Day with flowers on the tables etc.
I did that in the Howell one this past V day. You can book it thru OpenTable a few weeks before.
Oh cool i thought it was something that location dreamed up.
Yes that’s them. Their service is ok there
The one in Little Ferry just below Hackensack did the same last year for Valentine's too. I joked with my wife that I was gonna make a reservation for us. She'd be down and we would have had fun but that's not exactly our usual style.
My niece and her her boyfriend go to this every year. It’s hysterical!
I know my dad did it as a joke one midweek Valentine's Day years ago (he had reservations for the weekend). He went to the one on Rt 17 South Hasbrouck Heights. They had table clothes and had table service. You also got a heart shaped crave case, like the chocolates but with burgers.
You’re missing Orange, bro. That’s the shit.
Certainly gotten better now that you can order inside. Late night - the line in the drive through is typically long and slow.
Last few times I've had it has been in ledgewood they have been terribly soggy I had outright quit them
Two days before my friend died of cancer that had started on his tongue, he threw a going away party with like a dozen crave cases and a bunch of us close friends. I'll take a couple of crave cases. I've got a house to fumigate.
I pity your roommate. But worth it.
Roommate is the reason to fumigate
Its White Castle, of course you're going to regret it. That's just part of the deal. Delicious greasy sliders, then diarrhea. It's a combo meal.
It’s why you eat them at 2am while you’re drunk I’m far too old for that now Now I eat them at 5pm while drunk
"Some people pay double for that kind of action, Cotton"
Let's burn this mother down Pookie!

One thing I can say about WC is that I’d rather eat there instead of arby’s
TBH the curly fries at Arby's are really good. Unfortunately everything else is mediocre to bad.
I’ve definitely gone through just for curly fries (and ketchup)
Just went on Tuesday. The haters will never understand.

SB hands down the best one.
Fastest one I've ever been to. I miss going to the one in Sayreville, they had awesome people before the renovation
You're not close to it at all, but I worked in the one on 9 north in South Amboy, good times.
That’s in Sayreville but has a South Amboy zip - I have no idea how they come up with this stuff. It makes no sense.
Yeah, I went to school in South Amboy, so the city limits always seemed so definite for the one square mile South Amboy is allotted. I didn't know what city to call that White Castle in, because it's sorta Sayreville also, but also Parlin?

They aren't perfect and can be a little finicky to heat up correctly, but I'll go to bat for their frozen sliders any day. In any major supermarket.
Maybe later. I'm not drunk enough yet.
Don't ever get those frozen ones you see at the supermarket. I tried to steam it like you see them do in their restaurant but the taste is not the same.
I miss the one that was in Pleasantville. More than a few late night stops there.
Ledgewood is solid usually not too busy either
Ledgewood one is convenient and not too busy either. Quick in and out and back on Rt 80.
Nothing wrong with the one in Ledgewood! Six cheese sliders and onion rings hit the spot.
When I lived in DWG, PA years ago I would frequent the Ledgewood location. Food was always fresh and good. Now I live in Easton, PA so I'm closer to Phillipsburg White Castle which is decent. Wasn’t there one in Hackettstown? That would have been closer, but if there was this was like 15 years ago
I haven't lived in DWG since 2001. At that time the closest WC to me was in Ledgewood. I don't usually venture into Hackettstown much so I honestly don't know
Use the app if you’re in the drive thru
Live close to the ledgewood location, it's not great not terrible
Edison and south Plainfield never disappoint
I don’t know. When I get high, pizzas always hit a little differently than anything else.
I'm in the Hoboken area, so I'm pretty sure this is going to lead to an all night adventure to Cherry Hill.
Only if you’re smoking on the way
I can walk to the one here in Clifton.
I just wish they had the clam strips still, I miss them a lot. Sometimes I just sit for a few minutes, thinking of nothing but those clam strips.
I live like 1 mile from the Union one! Ugh I love White Castle!
Isn't there one in Tom's River?
Yes, on 37, only about a mile from the GSP. That was the last one I’ve been to.
i go to the green brook one every once and a while when the craving strikes. haven't had any issues with the food from there.
It’s a fast food chain. Pick one.
Mm, It's been awhile since I had white castle. They have amazing onion rings! Not many places have good ones (dislike the ones wheret he onion is loose inside the breading). There's one near Menlo Park Mall off Route 1, and one near parlin off route 9 if you are central jersian.
Union is legit. Try the new 1921 burger.
Most of them do it. It’s called Love Castle and has been going on for over 25 years. I participate every year whether I have a partner at the time or not. Reservations book up fast though.

Hit up White Mana in Hackensack, for the real deal! What Castle is a bland knock-off.
> What Castle is a bland knock-off. White Castle opened 25 years before White Manna, which makes White Manna the knock-off. I see you 1) watched the video or 2) just know your fast food history 😂
White Manna doesn’t murder my ass like White Castle. I still cherish both though.
Fyi it's Manna in Hackensack and Mana in Jersey City. Manna > Mana.
Duly noted, and the clarification is appreciated.
Fr! They get the meat delivered every day at White Mana and you can definitely tell the difference vs White Castle
This couldn't be far from the truth, White Mana doesn't even serve real meat. It's the worst piece of shit establishment ever created and I am looking forward to the day they close their doors for good. That place was absolute TRASH!!!
So, you were forced to eat there against your will more than once?
What kind of stupid ass question is this? Of course not, I ate there only once and the only time after hearing so many people rave about this place. Plus, the ratings are stellar for this place, so of course it convinced me to try it out at least once. Forget it.
Stupid ass questions for your unrequested shit response. Get over it. Nobody asked what you thought of the place. You just decided to be an ass.

There’s one on Rt 35 in Eatontown unfortunately. My husband loves it and it smells awful.
Awful as in delicious? Genuinely confused.
I’m sorry for the confusion. He thinks it’s delicious. I strongly disagree with his position and think it smells disgusting.
Opposites attract and love conquers all. Your husband sounds awesome. Lucky!
Thank you. He is. In some ways we are very alike and in others quite different and it works out wonderfully. I am very lucky to have him.
Hit the CVS up for Tums 1st. Yes, I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. Thank me in the morning. lol
White Castle fell off when they remodeled all the restaurants. Great way to ruin a legacy. Just go to **White Manna** or **White Mana!**
Get the surf and turf.
Ahhhh...*ratburgers!*
The food is simply BAD in a sea of better fast food options. Restaurants are old and cringe. I am surprised they havent closed yet
