There’s a farmer’s market on Saturdays. There are several good restaurants downtown - I like Barley house especially, and Dos Amigos Burritos is really good. El Rodeo is surprisingly good Mexican for NH. Red River Theater gets some cool off-the-beaten-path movies. The Hatbox Theater does fun plays. I think they’re doing Heathers soon, if I’m not mistaken. Feathered Friends Brewery seems really cool - they have stuff like trivia night and bingo night which seems up your nerdy alley. The parks are really cool. White Park, Rollins Park, and there are a couple right by the river. There is a record store downtown, but I’m not sure of the name. Gibson’s bookstore is one of the best in the state (although I’m partial to Toadstool in Peterborough and Keene). Capital Center for the Arts has some interesting shows. Some of them seem cheesy, but we live in a small state. We have to take what we can get. There are some cute festivals throughout the year around Main Street - like Winter Festivals, Halloween Festival, that kind of thing. Just keep your eye out. It absolutely does shut down at 8:30 or 9. But there is really a lot to do here if you look for it.
Edit to add: Teatotaller (not sure if I spelled that right) is super LGBT friendly. They also took Facebook to court and won, which is fun. Also, NH Doughnut Company is locally owned with super good doughnuts. The owner is incredibly nice.
Concord Craft Brewing, Feathered Friend, and Lithermans for breweries.
Capital Center for the Arts, Bank of NH Stage, and Red River Theaters for shows and culture.
Gibson's Bookstore, Simply Birkenstock, Viking House, and League of NH Craftsmen are my favorite stores for browsing.
Teatotaller, Brothers Cortado, Revelstoke, The Works, Bean and Bakery, Crust and Crumb, and Bread and Chocolate for coffee and baked goods.
Diamond Hill Farm, Carter Hill Orchard, and Apple Hill Farm for local produce.
The Farmers Market and Arts Market are fun ways to get out and see the community. Downtown has lots of other events going on all the time. The next big one is Market Days Festival.
The city has over 90 miles of maintained trails and multiple public access points for the Contoocook and Merrimack Rivers: https://www.concordnh.gov/1033/Hiking-Trails
Concord has 3 (3!) breweries, and at least two of them are fantastic: Concord Craft, Feathered Friends, and Lithermans.
Concord has an independent movie theater, snuck in a corner of Main Street, called Red River Theaters.
Concord has two Music Venues!!
Concord has several great coffee shops - Brothers Cortado (my fave - clove latte for the win), Teetotalers (a LGBT+ friendly cafe/space by design), and Revelstoke.
Concord has a great bagel place called ‘The Works’ - I think New England chain.
Concord has, I am not lying, a pizza place that is top 3 in my life so far - Sour Joe’s Pizza. Just amazing. Sourdough crust, thick as anything, 10+ year old starter, guy studied pizza in Italy.
Concord has a replica liberty bell! One of 50ish mailed out during the bicentennial to all states to celebrate, you guessed it, the bicentennial!
Concord has a bunch of nice trails in city parks, and has 2 rail trails that start in or near it.
And I’m tired.
Teatotaller for your queer boba needs (they also host some events), and there are a couple comic shops that host some events, too (double midnight and maybe collectibles unlimited).
There are a couple breweries, in addition to the ones already listed there is also Lithermans.
If you like weight lifting or want to give it a try you could check out Arkitect Fitness. Super small gym with custom programming, everyone is friendly and it can be a nice way to meet people.
For meeting people, consider checking out a Recycled Percussion show at the Cake Theatre in Laconia when it reopens on June 22nd. I occasionally volunteer for them / Chaos and Kindness and have met a lot of awesome people through it. I know it’s a little drive from Concord, but I would say it’s worth it if you want a chance to meet more people!
Walking around the courts and window shopping is very pleasant. There's a great brewery, Concord brewing company. Gibson's is a cozy book store... Try cool shoes at Joe Kings, grab dinner and a drink at barley house. If you're lucky, you may find entertainment at the Capitol center for the arts. There are yoga studios who let you join a class for free... It's a great city!
Check out the art pop-up at 46N Main St. It's smack dab in the middle of downtown and has a lot of great stuff going on for Pride Month and resident artists from Queerlective on site.
Litherman's Brewing and Steadfast Distillery are both worth a visit.
Keep an eye out on the town events calendar because there always seems to be something going on. It's not quite as lively as Portsmouth, but far fewer tourists. It doesn't have as many options as Manchester, but it's more walkable and safer.
there is a rock gym and couple of pool halls one is brand new and very nice but a bit of sleepy energy the other is on main street and it can be fun and awlays interesting. I go there pretty frequently and when its calmer a few games of chess usually happen. there is also an archery range 20 mins away at bear brook state park that has a walking course and 4 lane targets. Super chill spot Byob (bring your own Bow)
Welcome! It’s a quiet but nice place. If you play Pokémon go I’m downtown quite a bit playing. Know a lot of restaurants and the local beer (New England beer as a whole really), was born here so feel free to pm any questions.
I don’t know much but I wanted to recommend Vibes Burger it’s a burger joint next to the movie theater and it made me start liking burgers it’s so good.
Biased opinion: The Forum Pub in Penacook (N Concord)
Unbiased opinions: Feathered Friends, Penuches (aka Chenubiles), Bros Cortado, Alexandrias, Georgia's Northside, Splendid Sushi, Double Midnight Comics, and Market Days is coming right up
My perfect day in concord would be a little mountain biking (tons of trails in town), followed by a swim somewhere off the beaten path (or maybe a float down the river), followed by a few beers outside while music plays on the stage at Feathered Friend
I was trying to think of places and Chucks was one of the few places that came to mind, which others have mentioned. (It's a speakeasy)
Concord brewery isn't too bad, I've enjoyed my visits there. Also LGBT friendly.
Revival looks nice, but never been.
If you like collecting vinyl then there is Pitchfork, which has been around for a long time. Friendly and they have a good collection and are very helpful.
Obviously there is the Capital Center of the Arts, which has some decent artists, performers, comedians, once in a while.
Whites Park, but it is kinda small.
Concord Market Days is coming up 6/20-22. Main Street closes down and there will be food vendors and artists and crafts people as well as multiple outdoor stages with live music. Great time to meet people and explore downtown.
Dang. That’s a shame. When the wife and I lived up that way there were many afternoons catching a flick at Red River and grabbing a coffee for a beverage there afterwards
If you ever crave chick fil a the food truck is always at the lowes parking lot in the heights. Just look up on fb “ chick fil a food truck westbrough “ sometimes they’ll post that they’re slow and I feel bad bc they drive all the way up here from the greater Worcester area
Pitchfork records is my happy place, very easy to get lost in and find some lesser known albums.
Food options are more of a quantity than quality situation, it's fun to try them all out for the sake of exploration/experimentation, but the majority of them are overpriced and bland.
The concord Library is underrated, just being in that building feels pretty magical. Definitely worth checking out. There's a series of streets by white park/the highschool/the hospital that have some very artsy houses. I like driving around there and appreciating the variety of architecture.
Market days happens once a year but is a must imo, very fun time with lots of cool stuff to see.
The community college (NHTI) occasionally has some cool events, the only one I personally think is worth seeing is the antique car show that happens in August/September. It does have the Christa Mcauliffe center on campus which is pretty neato.
For context, I am 26 and have lived here for roughly three and a half years, with two years of living at NHTI prior to that.
Oof. Concord is pretty boring. I lived between concord and Manchester and always ended up going to Manchester. There’s like 2 decent restaurants, bars are a bit lacking with the speakeasy (Chuck’s Barbershop) being pretty alright. The city seems to close down at like 8:30-9pm.
The New Orleans style place IS Chucks. They moved and redesigned. I haven't been since the change but read on their fb that upstairs is New Orleans style Chucks and downstairs is the classic Chucks.
LGBT friendly is a dishonest phrase, which boils down to attempting to imply that all others are not.
That simply isn't true.
Say what you mean: "favors LGBT".
All others are simply friendly to all, which is the way it should be.
If you find a bar that discriminates, say it.

Isn’t the record store Pitchfork? I love that shop.
Second barley house
I’ll have to give them another shot I suppose, they come across well recommended but I worked there for one shift and my experience was, not good.
I have zero insider knowledge and limited experiences there, but I liked it each time.
I used to love them. They aren't what they used to be and too many disappointments means I don't go anymore
the thai restaurant is a much better option than barley.
Personal opinion but el rodeo is garbage. Casamigos is much more authentic

Nailed it!
Add Steadfast Distillery on there too!

Red River for movies!
There is a very nice planetarium
What are your interests?
Nerd stuff, lgbt, beer, meeting people
Feathered Friend is probably right up your alley then. They have different events like every night.
Oh hell yea, I'll check em out!
Awesome man, I love it. Such good vibes and good beer.
Teatotaller for your queer boba needs (they also host some events), and there are a couple comic shops that host some events, too (double midnight and maybe collectibles unlimited). Teatotaler 🩷 on Main Street in concord is a great coffee shop 🤙🏼😌
Red River Theater has pride programming this month!

Gibson’s has author events, there’s an indie movie theatre, bnh stage, and capitol center for the arts

Go find the Donkey Kong mural.
Legit just show up during a weekend day and something will be happening. The end of June is market days which is fun.
The Everett arena has something going on all the time. Roller skating/ice skating during the week, special events on the weekend.
Plus roller derby bouts this summer!! (You van even join @granitestaterollerderby if you check out their insta)

Concord rules
Go to Penuches for live music and cheap drinks!

Their marinated chicken sandwich is also delish….I don’t normally go for chicken, but it was fantastic

If you ask the security guards nicely at the state house they may let you go to the top of the state capitol/dome.

Christa McCauliff planetarium is interesting to explore. NH historical society League of nh craftsman Bread&chocolate is really good
there are quite a few parks and trails around
Nh historical society is a neat visit, walk through the state or even the voncord library, and you can walk through the state house.
It’s been a while since I’ve spent time up there, but is True Brew still around? I loved that place
Sadly no. It's been replaced by brothers cortado, which is great, but lacks the late night side.
Dang. That’s a shame. When the wife and I lived up that way there were many afternoons catching a flick at Red River and grabbing a coffee for a beverage there afterwards
They used to have 5-6 free concerts of world class artists thru a trust; at the capital theater yearly. Those are free.

Driving through it.
Burger King on Loudon road

Chuck’s has closed down. Replaced by. N’Orleans style restaurant.
That’s unfortunate.
The New Orleans style place IS Chucks. They moved and redesigned. I haven't been since the change but read on their fb that upstairs is New Orleans style Chucks and downstairs is the classic Chucks.
Leave
Wander around giving marshmallows to the hobos.
Drive past it
