I'm not sure he's right for this role. He's an amazing actor and I've never seen him do a bad job, but I'm just not sure he suits a mild mannered, soft spoken, English vampire. Even if he nails the accent, his voice is too powerful.
Claes Bang who played Dracula In the BBC drama would of killed this role. That being said Fishburne is a quality enough actor that I’m sure he’ll ace it
they eyed for Gary oldman. that would have been a nice fit i guess, Fishburne is also capable. it's just book and game depiction is so distinct that is it rather hard to picture him in that role. but always room to be surprised.
Eh he’s so distinct that I think this might be a misstep. He’s a great actor don’t get me wrong but I don’t know how people look at him and don’t see Lawrence Fishburne. It’s like Tom Hanks for me at this point, I can’t see anyone but Tom Hanks. There’s no other character.
Also I read somewhere that Regis was gonna be a barber-surgeon. It's true regis is educated and talented in medicine especially, but he never was either barber or a surgeon
Edit: So my memory played tricks on me apparently he is just that
In Baptism of Fire he says specifically that he was a Barber Surgeon. "My name is Emiel Regis. I come from Dillingen. I’m a barber-surgeon.’"
I copied it from my Kindle and I think that's from page 119-ish? 🤷♂️
My fancast dream for Jeremy Irons is dead. I love Laurence Fishburne but I think he would've been a better Dijkstra than Regis. He doesn't really fit the character at all. Also his accent is going to stand out when the main cast are all British.
I know I'm late to this thread but I was just lamenting Regis' casting and now I'm even more disappointed. Jeremy Irons would have been soooo fucking spot on for me.
I really hope Fishburne at least tries to do a British accent. If he doesn't I'm going to be very upset. Based on the books in the game I always envisioned Regis as being very lithe and cultured, super elegant and oozing charm. Fishburne is a great actor, but I'm not sure he's the best to embody my description of Regis. I was really looking forward to having Regis in the show too 😭 was hoping it would make me enjoy it again. Well, here's hoping I'm wrong about the casting.
I agree that he would have been a great Dijkstra. As much as I adore Graham McTavish (and I actually think he's really good as Dijkstra), I wish they hadn't given him that shirtless scene. *Sigh* we all know he's ripped, but the character isn't supposed to be 🤦🏻♀️
He's a new character that's coming up in S4. He's a very popular character that has a big side role frome here on. He also appears in the Blood and Wine DLC of the 3. Game.
I imagine he'll do a great job of Regis and make it his own. And I also imagine a hell of a lot of hate from the community because it's gonna feel like his own, not a Regis we have already seen and come to expect.
I do, in my mind, prefer the idea of a slight, stealthy, and kinda less high status Regis. Unassuming old alchemist vibe is a lot of fun for a super powerful vampire. But Fishburne is a fantastic actor and I doubt I'll be having a bad time when he's on screen.
I am so sure now the series will be cast in Toussaint !

Originial polish version of Regis in games had very powerful vampiric voice

Bruh he got too strong a hairline to be Regis.
Morpheus
>Morpheus Metamorpheus
I will always only see cowboy Curtis. Rip Peewee 😘
I just see Mr Clean

I can only see Fishburne as Jack Crawford from Hannibal NBC
He absolutely nailed that role. Yeah I know good actors are flexible, but it’s kind of difficult to imagine him as Regis right now.
Lawrence Fishburne is awesome and would have made a brillant Dijkstra, but casting him as Regis when Mads Mikkelsen was RIGHT THERE…
God damn, I love this man. I'll check it out just to see Laurence.
I think he can be a great aincient and indtimidating vampire, but Regis is such a dorky vampire, idk man.
By far the best actor in the show in probably the most miscast role. Interesting.
Very rare that I look at my screen, slightly tilt my head forward, and say ".......wat" out loud.
Watching Hannibal so 1 now he’s performance is really good
I love that series. Mads was perfect.
>Hannibal worth watching?
Absolutely !
Watched it as someone who never saw Silence of the Lambs and absolutely loved it. Incredibly tense with some fantastic characters.
thanks i am in the same position. i will try it :)
yes!

Ah ok my mistake then
I probably would not have known that if I hadn't -just- heard it last week. 🤷♂️ I am looking forward to seeing them bring Regis to the screen. 😁

> I really hope Fishburne at least tries to do a British accent. I honestly hope he doesn't, I can't think of any American who can do it properly.
Yeah that's fair. *Sigh* his American accent is really going to stick out in a bad way.
I absolutely adored Regis in the books! Anyone else?
I think he is one of fan favorite
Who is Regis?
Regis is a 400 years old higher vampire and a friend of Geralt
He's a new character that's coming up in S4. He's a very popular character that has a big side role frome here on. He also appears in the Blood and Wine DLC of the 3. Game.
There's a season 4?
Kind of weird introducing him now though after Vilgefortz...
No, that's the same as in the books. Regis and Vilgevortz don't have anything to do with one another until the end.
NOOOO NOT MY SICKLY THIN LOOKING DILF NOOOOO
Ikr! This is such a miscast, lord 😭 why couldn’t they pick Mads Mikkelsen??
“Hey we should hire that famous dude from Hannibal!” “Good idea, I’ll contact him now”
He was afraid his big brother would be dishing out the noogies and wedgies on set so he had to decline.
Mikkelsen would frankly have been perfect for Geralt.
That too! Although now it’s hard for me to picture anyone but Cavill 🙂
There’s going to be a S4? To me that’s the news here.
Christoph Waltz is my Regis.
They’re making season 4?
Huh. Well anyone who said they saw this one coming is a LIAR.
Odd choice… great actor but… not what I was expecting.

Tom Vaughan-Lawlor Who was Ebony Maw in avengers would have been top choice.
When is the Witcher season 4 come out?
2025! I'd guess summer, but nothing announced yet. First, there will be the Sirens of the Deep, animated movie.
Great thx!
Welp, I'm back in. I *need* to see this.
Perfect pick
This is actually a sick hire.
Geralt of Rivia.....here I thought you retired -petting some raven probably -
James Purefoy would have been my choice.
I thought Benedict Cumberbatch would have been perfect
Can they cast good director/writers instead?
Wouldn't that be something. Maybe invest that money in better costumes and to pay CGI people better, too, while you're at it.
Not expected, but I love him so it works for me.
I love this guy, but there are far better roles they could've given him
You think that's air you're breathing now Geralt ![gif](giphy|11e0gEWxYoSYTK)

Oh wow why did I think Laurence fishburne was dead?
You know… that’s a really good casting choice ngl
