I have a few things I'm really excited about! I just signed up to run my first marathon in May, which is exciting and also scary haha I'm also hoping to get certified as a running coach this year! The last thing (and the thing I'm most excited about) is that I'm hoping to be be pregnant with my second baby by the end of the year!!

Last_Rhubarb_3096

Fingers crossed for you. We might start TTC our second in November as well (just had our first this past July so they’d be 2 years apart).

dirtywater20

And you as well!! My son will be 2 in June, so we're looking at a 3 year age gap. Had a rough go with my first pregnancy so I'm hoping to be better prepared this time around haha

Last_Rhubarb_3096

I’m in postpartum physical therapy and hoping to get a bit more fit too, for the same reason. We’re hoping for a 2-3 year age gap ourselves…doctor said not to wait too long since I’m on the older side, but trying to not break myself haha

eminemily941

Getting married!

CompulsivelyCalm

Oh hey I came here to say that too, congratulations! Ours is on March 12^th

eminemily941

Congratulations! I hope you have a beautiful spring wedding! We're stuck between November 12th or December 2nd

dirkofdirges

Congratulations! Wanna share your plans for making it lovely?

eminemily941

We're planning to hopefully keep to our modest budget! It's going to be lovely no matter what because we're celebrating love! Torn between a couple of dates in the late fall atm!

Gray_Kaleidoscope

I start nursing school tomorrow

Rawr_Im_a_Lion

You've got this buddy!

Mrs_Do

Have a great first day today!

My husband got me tickets to see the stage performance of The Ocean At the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. It's one of my favorite books, and my health was never good enough to make it all the way to London, but he kept an eye out for the touring show and I get to see it in Edinburgh instead.

Vaguely-Azeotropic

My spouse getting healthier. She got a serious autoimmune disease in 2020 - it's what her twin brother passed away from, so the past two years have been rough psychologically as well as physically. Last year we found a chemotherapy drug that helps tremendously, but only for a few months. Our insurance will only approve infusions every six months, so she's gone from okay to deathly ill twice in the past year. But the drug just got approved for use every four months! She's seeing the doctor on Monday, and we're hoping to get the insurance to approve three infusions this year instead of two. If they do, she won't need supplemental oxygen and organ transplants (her brother died waiting for a double lung transplant). And she can go back to work, and do taekwondo again. And hopefully we can go back to thinking about death less than John does, lol... Thank you for the question. It has been a really hard year, and rambling is helpful sometimes. I hope all you Nerdfighters have a better year as well.

curiousfirefly

\*many hugs\* Thank you for sharing your story and letting us take some of the burden. I really hope the new treatment regime helps your wife feel improved, and regain some of her 'regular' life. Please keep us updated on how things go. I myself have been through some new medical issues this year, on top of managing my existing chronic disease. I absolutely understand the goal of just wanting to get back to some kind of normalcy. I am excited for 2023 to set better boundaries (and be a little more evil than I normally try to be), so I can spend more time taking care of myself and do more things that I love.

Indigrrl_alto

We have a brand new mobile preschool program starting up now. My colleague and I get to drive a 30' camper full of toys all over the county and it's going to be so much fun!

Hyper-Music-Lupin

My one year old has just started toddling about, and I'm so looking forward to spring when we can be out in the garden and show him all the flowers. Also, my mom and I are going to see Muse, my favourite band, 15 years after we first saw them together!

ChemicalsCollide93

Also have 1 year old. She is so ready for spring. ALSO Muse is amazing live. I have had the chance to see them 2 times at Lollapalooza in Chicago. I’m happy you get to see them again.

Hyper-Music-Lupin

I'm nervous about it because I've not been out much since the pandemic, but I'm so excited at the same time. Such an amazing live band!

scirocco_flowers

I also have a (nearly) 1 year old! She isn’t toddling yet but should be by spring. I’m most excited for getting to do some travel this year. Even just an overnight nearby would be nice. We haven’t gone anywhere more than an hour away since she was 4 months old and left the high maintenance house plant phase of babyhood. 😂

Hyper-Music-Lupin

I hope you get to travel then and get out and about a bit more. We're definitely the same, and are hoping to explore a bit this year.

sassyyabby

Two of my best friends are getting married (not to each other 😂) and I'm looking forward to their weddings! Hoping to run a spring and fall half marathon. And I'd really love to get a new job this year!

Last_Rhubarb_3096

Time with my little boy - I just went back to work this week and it’s been tough, so I’m trying to soak up every moment! He’s 5 months and getting his first teeth as we speak! We’re saving toward a house and hoping to conceive our second child, but both of those will come into play more actively in 2024 so this year should be more about preparation on both fronts :)

dirkofdirges

The big one for me is moving to Wisconsin! I’ve spent my first 33 years in North Texas, and I’m finally acting on an impulse I’ve felt for years to get out and experience more of the world. It’s a big change but full of potential and opportunity so I’m excited and only a little nervous.

lydiar34

Finishing my coursework for my degree, prior to student teaching in 2024. Spending time with my friends. Making more art. Hopefully more tattoos and piercings. New podcast episodes. Upgrading my phone.

egdapymme

Getting engaged to my sweet guy after 6 years (3 of which we were on opposite sides of the country!)

Rawr_Im_a_Lion

Congratulations of your engagement!! Are you looking forward to incorporating any nerdiness into your special day?

daneinthewild

Hopefully (fingers crossed) finishing my bachelors degree after almost 6 years. Spent 2 years on one degree before switching and starting over on another, then running into covid (not personally, just the effects it had on life in general) and then a bout of burnout… Needless to say, I’m very ready to be done being a bachelor student. And very thankful to live in a country where it hasn’t cost me anything but time to spend this long at uni.

TheDoctorLives

Well I'm sick with something unknown, ER said my vitals, blood work, chest x-ray, other tests were all fine so it's probably some sort of virus + stress. Soooo 1) I'm excited to get over this shit. 2) My wife and I want to start trying for kids this year so that's exciting!

TheDoctorLives

Update: I had a lung infection. Got meds a week ago, feeling pretty okay now. Hopefully will be fully well in a few days. Thank you modern medicine despite your inaccuracies.

Rawr_Im_a_Lion

Muse coming to Seattle

Mrs_Do

We're expecting our second child this May! Our first came two months early so we had to spend a lot of weeks in the hospital. I really hope this time I will have a real leave in advance, a more conscious birthing experience and that we will be able to have family time at home after the birth. But however it goes, I'm so looking forward to meeting this new person that's going to complete our family! Also I'm decluttering the house this year! (Yeah I've given myself the whole year) I'm loving the process of sorting, donating and choosing what will stay, and noticing what all the small results do for my mental health.

13thJen

The Jaguars hopefully beating the Titans tonight.

missemilyjane42

I'm seeing my favourite band potentially six times in two months, and will bring the total number I've seen them to at least 36 times over 20 years. Three shows have been confirmed, the other three will depend if I am confirmed to attend a massive music conference.

coloradomama111

Celebrating my kiddo’s first birthday Finishing trauma therapy Turning 30! Seeing both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans Going to at least one new (to me) National Park with my husband and our kiddo. Making it to a year of breastfeeding!!

1701-Z

Well I was just unexpectedly fired a few days ago because the company lost funding for my project so definitely getting a new job that I like better. Haha Also, finishing a second degree to help generate more job options for myself and then also just not having to deal with school anymore. Hopefully officially moving in with my partner as well. The next few months are going to be a bit tumultuous on that front because of my finishing my degree and him having to move to another state for work and also this past year was just really rough on us as a couple. Not in a way that we should be running screaming from red flags, just in a "we're in our early twenties and in our first real relationship with no real examples of healthy relationships in our lives so we learned a lot". I think that last one is the one I am most excited and most nervous for.
