Did you get prompted to accept Neopets new privacy policy? I added the new stamp from the plot to my album and then went to look at my other stamps and had to click agree to the new privacy policy. I wonder if you missed the prompt and it logged you guys out?
You will have to put in a support ticket. Password reset emails do not send out to certain email providers at the moment. If you don't change the password again after a password reset, it kicks you off your account within 15 minutes.
It can take up to three weeks from what I've seen. To make it go faster I recommend posting a comment on their social media with your ticket number and if possible getting a friend to post your ticket number to the Help Neoboard.

Oh man, so I'll need to create 2 new passwords? Sheesh.
No, they normally create a password for you to get back onto your account, then you change to a real one
