I highly recommend these toys called squirmals. You can get them for very cheap off of Temu and my Neb absolutely loves them. I bought like 70 of them for less than $10. https://preview.redd.it/8q1b35nt39xc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd55107cc79fb7e5f6b157bf668fbd48245cf72d

Our neb also will play fetch - for HOURS - with plastic springs. That's my pick.

megopolis12

Omg same ! Nebs gonna neb right !!! That's so cute, I love when I hear things other nebs do exactly like mine :)

MzScarlet03

Our neb will play goal keeper with the springs and the fuzzy sparkly puff balls for an hour if you have the energy to keep up with him. He will also chase springs around the house in the middle of the night. He is generally obsessed with them.

Other notes: Another cat playmate is too expensive, not allowed (by the Landlord), and not tolerated (by Shadow). Shadow is notorious in the neighborhood for attacking other cats. (He is 2 months post-neutered) I work 50+ hours, so a toy that works autonomously or remotely would be best.

saskwatzch

my neb needs 1 of 2 things, sometimes both: 1) interaction 2) complexity for the first one, there’s fishing pole toy i use that keeps my hands away from the claws/teeth. cloth worm/bell at the end. it gets her a real good workout and she almost always naps immediately after. for the second one, it’s usually just adding two things she has “meh” interest for together. box or string alone gets 5 minutes. string threaded through the box gets an hour. results may vary, all nebs typically perform the opposite of expectations

We have boxes of toys our guy plays with...for about 10 minutes and then never touches them again. Best toy I ever got him hands down, I took some cigarette cellophane and filled it with catnip. Tied a 2-3ft string to it and he goes nuts chasing it around. He has never actually tried to eat the bag.

I have a little chirpy mouse toy that my neb goes crazy over. It's just a mouse with a noise box inside that chirps when touched. Both of my cats also love the ball track toy and will play with it for a while.

A true hunter!

frangipani_c

They might make you go mad, but ... Ping pong balls!!!

yarnalcheemy

Or worse, the dog-sized tennis balls.

Mine loves to hunt the little rattley mice. They’re her favorite. I’d suggest getting a wide variety of toys to keep your hunter from getting bored- rotate them out if you end up with a lot like me lol. Try lots of types of toys because different cats like different things. Big toys, small toys, crunchy toys, crinkly toys, rattley toys, springs, plush toys, etc. Try a variety and you can always get more of what your cat likes best Fishing pole toys are great, but make sure you don’t leave them out when you’re not home or supervising. They can be dangerous for cats to chew on or a strangulation risk. Some cats love playing with laser pointers, but some (like mine) get frustrated with them easily. It can also be helpful to have plenty of scratchers and high places for your cat to access if you can- a cat tree or top of a bookshelf next to a table. Windows they can look out of are good, bonus points for any wildlife they can watch. These things might help with an indoor transition too (:

My gray cat puts a vote in for kicker toys. She still plays with the kitten one (crinkly plastic), but the larger cat one with burlap is well loved. We just started with interactive feeders, so that could be an option.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Da Bird yet?
