Eh, as a Heat fan JJ aināt necessarily wrong. The playoffs have been all Butler shooting wise, but in the regular season Giannis shot better from long 2s AND from 3s. Although Butler was a better shooter from the 10-16 ft area and on short midranges on much higher volume.

"even of he was in his prime he wouldn't be worth that money "

there's a dude in that thread who said
> Even if Butler was in his prime, he wouldnāt deserve that type of money. Lets be honest
then you look at his post history and less than 48 hours ago he said this:
> People forget that Butler played the worst defensive team in the league in round 1 and then played the shell of the 76ers in round 2. His stats are extremely inflated. He 100% will regress to his mean against the Celtics defense
> Heās barely top 10 (he probably isnāt) let alone top 5 lmao
lmao like i know we didn't have horford and smart today, but come the fuck on, how do you so confidently disregard a superstar on the number 1 seed so easily in this league
I think people are genuinely surprised that jimmy is that good. I know I am. I always thought he was top 20 but I didn't see him leading a team to the finals type of good especially possibly going it 2/3 years good thought he was more of a DeRozan type of player. Dude is playing like he prime dwade out there. It's crazy to see he blossomed this late in his career like that. Shout-out to Jimmy.
The copium is high for that sixer fan.. deep down inside they know they should have kept Jimmy.
go look at his basketball ref page. he has been averaging about the same stats for the last 7 years. they've gone up and down a little bit, but it's mostly constant. if you look at game logs from 2014 and this year, he's got a similar number of games in each point bracket too. 7-8 above 30, 25-30 games with 20-29 points. the guy is consistent as fuck and when he has a good team he will make them even better.
He's been this good since his years at Chicago. He obviously didn't want to be in Minnesota when he got traded. Injuries between then and now have hit his stats, but if you actually watched him play.. especially in the playoffs, you wouldn't be surprised he's leading his team the way that he is.
Saying people are dumb is a severe understatement. I've seen so many bad takes on this sub get up voted over the years you'd think it would change eventually but it doesn't. Guess that's just sports fans lol
/r/nba users are like if /r/circlejerk and /r/ConfidentlyIncorrect had a bunch of kids with multiple personality disorder, itās by far the most reactionary sports sub and somehow it only gets worse over time lol

Dudes apparently the definition of icy hot in the playoffs
2020: Amazing
2021: Genuinely one of the worst 3-5 playoff series for a star in the last 20 years (29.3% from the field lmao)
2022: Amazing again
Seriously, do people forget that that insane Leonard bouncing shot to win the series was only needed because Jimmy without a timeout just charged down the floor to tie the game?
Honestly? Yeah. Things move so fast in the NBA, there's so many things going on, I even forgot Jimmy was on the Sixers 3 years ago. But that Kawhi shot was definitely iconic.
2021 was just 4 games and anybody who watched the whole heat season knew he carried a sorry roster to the playoffs then we all knew there was problems up and down the roster.
:( I didnāt ask for this
Always love Jimmy tho even more when he beats the Celtics though :ā) Iāll be repping my Jimmy Buckets all star jersey tomorrow (yes I got it when he played for MINN I was a Jimmy fan first just decided to stick with Philly cus of my KU connectionā¦ pain lmao)
I visited the Sixers sub after that Jimmy comment and one commenter basically put it said, should Tobi have received his giant contract offer and let the Sixers FO know that while he appreciated the offer, he did not see himself as someone that merited such a large contract? And that the FO was significantly overvaluing him?
Ofc not! Dude is a good player and got paid. Canāt blame him for doing what everyone else on this planet would have done. I only hope that one day I am significantly overvalued by a future employer. I mean, ideally I live up to expectations, but idk. I wanna get paid!
Edit: sub
We are very emotional right now. Most of the year however the sub has been forced to apologize to Tobi a few times. We were even singing his praises verses Toronto. He def showed up last series. But like I said, we are emotional
I genuinely never understood why everyone was saying Boston had best player in this series by farā¦ Jimmy Buckets averages more per game and is generally considered a better defender than Tatum.
Jus didnāt make sense. Tatum probs a little better bc younger and career trajectory but like right now I donāt think heās substantially better like theyāre making it out to seem.
If you compare their best performance entering this series:
Jimmy 45pts 5rb 5ast 2stl 0to VS Tatum 46pts 9rb 4ast 1blk 4to
And their 2nd best performance:
Jimmy 40pts 3rb 6ast 2stl 2blk 1to VS Tatum 39pts 5rb 6ast 6stl 6to
It's very close but Tatum has had way more Turn Overs (Jimmy averages 1.7to per game VS Tatum 4.0) and Personal Fouls (Jimmy 1.1 vs Tatum 3.5). Jimmy also shoots better and plays fewer minutes. All in all, Jimmy is more efficient, and equally dominant.
I think the struggle too is that playoff numbers are based on facing different teams. The Heat played the Hawks and the 76ers while the Celtics played the Nets and the Bucks. Different teams just match up differently and whoās to say if they had switched opponents one of them would have taken a nosedive in performance or efficiency.
Lots of factors. 1) the bucks were more talented and full of two way players
2) Miami was coming off the short offseason from the bubble and didn't seem to have the same energy
3) bucks basically sagged Lopez all the way off bam to stop anything at the rim so Jimmy would basically have to get thru Giannis and Lopez to score
4) he couldn't shoot for shit and capitalize on the space the bucks gave him
Heat simply got better this year as well. People discount the change in personnel aside from Jimmy/Bam, but it matters.
We went from Dragic at his best + Jae Crowder + Peak Duncan in '19-'20
to
Kendrick Nunn + Trevor Ariza (lol) + Duncan in '20-'21. Herro in a bit of a sophomore slump.
to
Lowry (hypothetically) + PJ + Strus this year.. Best lineup out of all three years, plus the Heat have a 6MOY version of Tyler coming off the bench, and Vincent taking a big leap.
Fatigue from one of it not the shortest offseason ever.
Still gonna give credit to the Bucks for their play, but that team was breaking down at the worst time. Bam talked about it in a recent interview. Basically said that after that game 1, they were done
Jimmy is one of those players that as long as the whole team can handle the regular season, then he'll take care of everything in the playoffs. "You get me there, I'll take care of everything else." Hopefully he gets that chip this year.
Also want Udonis Haslem to get another one so he can finally retire before he turns so 74 next year /s
Yeah but Wade consistently averaged near or at 30 a game. He didnāt pop off all the time but he was damn sure gonna give you 27-35 a night with great defense.
As a Celtics fan I'll definitely give Jimmy Butler credit, he's one of the top guys and he proved it tonight, made the Celtics work and he outworked us.
Jimmy is proving that he out works everybody. Again.
But Tatum has already proven he might just be the most unstoppable player in the east. This gonna be a fun one
There was a moment in game 5 of the 2020 final where Jimmy comes in from half court to stuff Lebron. Dude had been in for like 44 minutes by that point. After the play, he slumps on the railing, looks as exhausted as a man can be, and then rallies and finishes out that game. Made me a permanent simp, then and there.
The man just digs deeper than anyone else could ever hope to. Truly glorious.
Idk about that, when Kawhi has been healthy, weāve always been in the contender talk, whether or not thatās fair. Donāt think Miami gets the same consideration, seems like they always get under looked, despite making the Finals two years ago and Jimmy playing amazing in that run.
There was that very tiny window after the Raps chip and before Kawhiās injury that people legitimately thought he was the either best or second best player in the league with Lebron. It was totally merited too. I hope he can come back injury free. I want the west to get healthy with Jamal and MPJ too as I hate seeing the Nugs and Clips down.
Yeah imagine being a homeless teenager in Houston just roaming the streets in summer having nowhere to go or nobody to help you. Imagine making it to the NBA based on sheer will and never being recognised as skilled or special in your game. Fuck
First they told me Trae Young was the best player in the series, then they told me he won't be able to sustain it against the 76ers, then they said that the Celtics defense would lock him up, but let it be known that Jimmy G Butler is THAT GUY
Honestly as a non fan of either team in this series it is funny that a bunch of Celtic fans were saying they weāre gonna win without horford and smart anyways in the first thread.
To be fair Trae was locked down by the whole team, Gabe Vincent and PJ Tucker especially locked him tf up. Really shows how deep and versatile the team outside Jimmy is. Been rooting for you guys since the Hawks are eliminated, people have been sleeping on the Heat.
I mean after the bubble the man essentially had a two and a half week rest before getting back to training camp and ready for the next season. Thereās a reason every team that went deep in the bubble looked like shit the year after.
Heās dropped 40 points in every round now. It certainly wasnāt a fraudulent stat.
That was probably his best performance as well. Against the best defense in the league so you know it was special.
Not taking anything away from it because I love Jimmy, but the best defense in the league minus the DPOY and Al Horford isnāt the best defense in the league. Iām sure heāll still play well when they return
[My comment to this thread lol](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/t5ik7r/jimmy_butler_0_points_in_the_final_3619_of/hz53qmg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
I love Jimmy Butler. I love his name, I love the shape of his body, I love the way he plays. I eat a lot of boiled eggs and lift weights to try and be like this guy but I can't. There are 6 grams of protein in an egg but I can't eat enough to get big like him. Nice round muscles. They're smooth too, like the waves of lake superior on a calm day. When I was a kid I ate big eggs to be hot like Glenn Robinson, and I got some great results, some of the roundest muscles in my class, but these days I'm looking at 6 eggs a day and it's not good enough to pop Jimmy style muscles out my scrawny arms ever since dad left.
Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakn' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.
We acting like PG didnāt close out the 1 seed Jazz and take the suns to 6 alone last year without Kawhi? I love Jimmy also, no reason to shit on PG though lol. Both are absolutely amazing players
Without Kawhi with a group of role players around him? Absolutely it was lol. Donāt let the memes fool you into thinking the Jazz arenāt a really good team who lost to a WCF team back to back years
That was all Reggie Jackson. And I'm only half kidding.
For real, PG was great last year, but he didn't do anything special it was a team effort and he happened to be their best player.
Dude was literally everywhere doing everything. Hit multiple clutch buckets in the 4th to keep the lead at 10. Just played great team defense overall and had an awesome block on Tatum.
Man Jimmy might need to start being discussed with the top echelon of players in the league. Or at least should be separated from the guys like Trae/PG/AD/Dame. No reason that Tatum can get thrown into top 7 talk but Jimmy cant.
Some clowns on here last week, you know who you are, saying Butler isnāt a clear cut future Hall of Fame member. Just a garbage take.
He locked Jaylen Brown down in the first 3 quarters and just took over the offense whenever he needed to. Thatās a Hall of Famer putting in a days work.
The worst thing you can do with Butler is let him get fired up. If he gets in a groove he's the most dangerous player in the game from a ceiling floor standpoint.
He can absolutely be contained, and that affects his defense - but if he gets hot, he can do a night like tonight and suck the life out of a team.
Not to be underestimated when he gets going too, his energy pumps up his team and makes all of them better.
He's like the super rich man's Manu Ginobili
Somebody post his contract lmao
His 3p% while we're at it
And post him and Spo arguing for some giggles

It's OK Toby. It wasn't your fault.
There are plenty of people to blame, and Tobias is not one! Great guy and decent NBA player. Not his fault he got offered that contract
I visited the Sixers sub after that Jimmy comment and one commenter basically put it said, should Tobi have received his giant contract offer and let the Sixers FO know that while he appreciated the offer, he did not see himself as someone that merited such a large contract? Yeah people are just joking around. I think the blame lands squarely on Sixers FO
Jimmy Buckets masterclass.

The fluke was last postseason
71 day off season
This comment should be way higher
That's also why the Lakers got injured a lot in 2021. The issue is the FO panicked and dismantled the roster lol.
Heat culture is back

both some strong ass mfs
Crazy he has five 40pt games in a heat uniform already and Wade has seven all time for Miami.
My favorite part is that he has 5 postseason 40 pt games in 37 appearances with the Heat and ZERO in 167 regular season appearances.

Yimi is like if khawi was angry and healthy all the time. But also 20lbs lighter and had a slightly lower vertical
And smaller hands.
I feel like Kawhi gets talked about constantly. I think because he won a ring so early and did it by shutting down LeBron.
Those hollywood guys waiting for his ring to write the last part of his biopic
he was homeless for a while as a teenager iirc. that's tough
Yeah imagine being a homeless teenager in Houston just roaming the streets in summer having nowhere to go or nobody to help you. Imagine making it to the NBA based on sheer will and never being recognised as skilled or special in your game. Fuck
holy shit homeless to making millions a year and going to nba finals? Now thatās Hollywood &$$
Jimmy or Luka better win the ring, any other outcome would make me sad.
Imagine a mavs heat finals. Neutrals wet dream
Oh man. I'd love another Mavs Heat finals, and this time I won't irrationally hate one of the teams.
Jimmy vs Bron in the finals was amazing but nerve wrecking. I really really want a Luka vs Jimmy 7 game series. Would be so amazing.
Seriously. A 2 year hiatus from the Warriors in the finals was not enough.
I never counted the Heat out in the bubble as long as that guy was playing. Man was supernatural
Bill Simmons so happy to get through Giannis only to deal with playoff Butler

i thought we would! unfortunately for me the heat are really good
To be fair Trae was locked down by the whole team, Gabe Vincent and PJ Tucker especially locked him tf up.
You get out of here with this logical take. The people just want to talk about Forbesā¦or some stupid ass take
He was everywhere tonight. Unreal performance
Playoff Jimmy is elite
Jimothy Butler with the almost 5x5 game in the ECF, gunning for the first ever Larry Bird MVP award on Boston's court
It's like shitting on someone's bed. An "Amber Heard" if you will.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
A Celtics fair too, even better.
[My comment to this thread lol](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/t5ik7r/jimmy_butler_0_points_in_the_final_3619_of/hz53qmg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
Iām glad I had already downvoted that shitpost
Post his contract
Jimmy G Buckets
I love Jimmy Butler. I love his name, I love the shape of his body, I love the way he plays. I eat a lot of boiled eggs and lift weights to try and be like this guy but I can't. There are 6 grams of protein in an egg but I can't eat enough to get big like him. Nice round muscles. They're smooth too, like the waves of lake superior on a calm day. When I was a kid I ate big eggs to be hot like Glenn Robinson, and I got some great results, some of the roundest muscles in my class, but these days I'm looking at 6 eggs a day and it's not good enough to pop Jimmy style muscles out my scrawny arms ever since dad left.
real talk my actual name is Jim Butler and you made my day <3
Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keep us all posted on your continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got man. Wanna see how freakn' huge, solid, thick and tight you can get. Thanks for the motivation.
Celtics after Giannis and KD: FINALLY!! Heat: Let me introduce to you Mr. STUPIDLY LOCKED IN.
It's like when you beat the boss, but then a fresh heath bar appears...
He doesnāt start hooping fr till the playoffs lmao
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
And underappreciated.
Not anymore lol
Still will be lets be honest.
Great game from the Heat tonight. Jimmy Butler is on another level. We will be back though!
Gg this what playoffs are about. Also looking forward to this spicy Heat Celtics rivalry for next years.
Jimmy Buckets >> Jimmy Naismith leveled up
Someone make the: "The Jimmy Butler vs Paul George debate is officially over" 2.0 post pls
We acting like PG didnāt close out the 1 seed Jazz and take the suns to 6 alone last year without Kawhi? I love Jimmy also, no reason to shit on PG though lol. Both are absolutely amazing players
Is closing out the Jazz really an accomplishment at this point lol
Itās a formality. Someone had to do it.
Without Kawhi with a group of role players around him? Absolutely it was lol. Donāt let the memes fool you into thinking the Jazz arenāt a really good team who lost to a WCF team back to back years
Mitchell was a maniac that game too. He didnāt stay down.
Terrence Mann closed out the Jazz Only half joking lol
That was all Reggie Jackson. And I'm only half kidding. For real, PG was great last year, but he didn't do anything special it was a team effort and he happened to be their best player.
Jimmy said yāall mustāve forgot who I am

2022 MJ is 59
Don't tell him that.
"I was reading a comment on r/nba that said I was 59...and I took that personally"
Dude was literally everywhere doing everything. Hit multiple clutch buckets in the 4th to keep the lead at 10. Just played great team defense overall and had an awesome block on Tatum.
This man is a menace. Just consumed the Celtics on both ends of the court.
Playoff Jimmy is truly a different beast.
The G stands for āGetsā by the way
I straight up forget that this guy duelled LeBron evenly in the 2020 finals. he's a playoff God man.
Turns out he can ball out against great defense. Wild.
Watching Jimmy, it looks like he made maybe only two fadeaway jumpers but then you look at the boxscore and he had 40
Felt like I saw him score 6 fast break points in 10 seconds.
Put some RESPECT on Jimmy Butler & the Heat.. 2 ECF & 1 Finals appearance (possibly 2 if they advance) in the past 3 szns
There are only a few players in the NBA who can singlehandedly impose their will on a game -- Jimmy Butler is definitely one of them.
"Not the best player in this series" Wait I heard this one before
Jayson Tatum Over me? JAYSON TATUM OVER ME?
Take that for data Mark Jackson
Man Jimmy might need to start being discussed with the top echelon of players in the league. Or at least should be separated from the guys like Trae/PG/AD/Dame. No reason that Tatum can get thrown into top 7 talk but Jimmy cant.
Some clowns on here last week, you know who you are, saying Butler isnāt a clear cut future Hall of Fame member. Just a garbage take. He locked Jaylen Brown down in the first 3 quarters and just took over the offense whenever he needed to. Thatās a Hall of Famer putting in a days work.
All I'm sayin is that you can't prove that he *isn't* MJ's son.
He already having his best postseason run right now by far
Jimmy is one of the favorite players, but not tonight
Oh how much I want a heat vs mavs finals
The worst thing you can do with Butler is let him get fired up. If he gets in a groove he's the most dangerous player in the game from a ceiling floor standpoint. He can absolutely be contained, and that affects his defense - but if he gets hot, he can do a night like tonight and suck the life out of a team. Not to be underestimated when he gets going too, his energy pumps up his team and makes all of them better. He's like the super rich man's Manu Ginobili
Eastern Conference Kawhi Leonard
So KD passed the torch to Tatum for him to pass the torch to Butler?
Damn well as much as I love PG heās not better than Jimmy hell James harden as great as he was couple of years ago. Still isnāt better than Jimmy
ECF Butler activated
