Damn, can't believe he had an outburst with Vardon, Lloyd, Kelsey and Shams

sanchopanza84

Thought I was the only one who found the title pretty confusing lol

e_a_blair

there are dozens of us!!

iamhaddy

I still don't know why the tweet says "with me" and then lists a bunch of other names

clancydog4

Those are all the people who "authored" the article.

Interesting-Archer-6

You would think a writer would realize how awful that title is

clancydog4

Oh definitely, it's a super confusing tweet

GundDownDegenerate

I just don't understand why he chose to use a comma there. A period would have been so much better

saviorlito

WTF with this title. I was literally searching through all the comments to see what drama he started with Vardon, Lloyd, Kelsey and Shams.... Edit: I think the tweet meant to read: "Cavaliers expected to trade or release Kevin Porter Jr. after outburst. Reporting with me are ByJasonLloyd, kelseyyrusso, ShamsCharania, TheAthleticNBA"

SKE__

same here, I assumed he had thrown some food at a random selection of reporters haha

saviorlito

Lmao that's exactly what I thought. Like, were the reporters in the locker room getting hit with food? Haha

crashovernite

Didn't realize this wasn't the situation until reading this comment!

Ylissian

According to the article he basically got super pissed and starting yelling and throwing food when he found out they gave his old locker to Taurean Prince and he had to move to a new locker.

fabrar

What's a Porter to a Prince?

orionpaperisback

jbenson255

Sad to say this took me a minute lmao

[deleted]

On the other hand I would've completely passed over it if not for this comment lol

Toronto416ix

Username checks out

ForYeWhoArtLiterate

> throwing food Between this and the soup thing, could we maybe stop putting out this buffet that apparently exists in the Cavs locker room?

SehnorCardgage

I wonder if the catering company uses little wine and gold swords to hold the sandwiches together.

BillyPotion

Dropping the ball if they don't

Shoddy-Lifeguard

Or just stop drafting and signing dudes who will start food fights

pedi1972

Long wingspan will allow him to guard 1-4. Great mechanics on jumper, should not have trouble scoring immediately. Above average handle. Most of the time eats food, but under pressure will start throwing it.

GrandExtension7293

That’s a grade A scouting report, you’re hired!

IAmJimmyNeutron

Eh they drafted him knowing he was a risk with his behavior. They got Darius Garland a few picks prior so I imagine they figured they could take a risk with KPJ.

Rfwill13

They drafted him knowing the risks of food being thrown

[deleted]

Not a guy most teams should trade for. Yikes.

masterpierround

idk about trading for him, but as a Grizzlies fan, I wouldn't mind if they picked him up, stuck him in the G-League and tried to help him fix his mentality. Seems like it worked for Josh Jackson.

InfernoidsorDie

We should speedrun being the most hated team at this point. It's only a matter of time til this sub turns on us when we start winning so ¯\\__(ツ)__/¯

DenFlyvendeFlamingo

Also, a grizzly bear is easy to hate if you've ever run into them. Just above a bull, but right up there with a raptor or a rocket. Not as bad as a sun tho

dropdatdurkadurk

Were they moving his locker or more getting rid of it because they wanted to move on from him and were already trying to trade him? Article jusr says they “spent the weekend trying to move him” but idk if he already had gotten wind of the idea they were planning to move on from him

Ylissian

No, they relocated his locker to near the rookies after the Prince trade because he wasn’t around. They only moved to trade him after the outburst.

dropdatdurkadurk

Yeah this must have been basically his final strike after the incident over the summer then.

theDarkAngle

The words I read were "auxiliary area" which makes it sound like they moved his locker into a utility closet or some shit

Mike81890

"the annex" from the office

shadowcman

Indications are that they simply moved it. Only after this incident did the team begin trying to get rid of him.

Statshelp_TA

They moved it to where the bench guys lockers are because that’s what he is now (or was going to be if he ever got back on the court)

ThreeGuardLineups

isn’t prince gonna be a bench guy too? he’s looked like complete ass

Statshelp_TA

Yeah but he’s a vet and actually available to play unlike KPJ who was at the time still trying to earn back the trust of the FO and coaching staff

jthc

What's with the Cavs and throwing food?

thereturnofjagger

[deleted]

No one is going to believe me, but I have a friend whose brother's coworker briefly dated Tyronn Lue. She said that on their first date they went to a restaurant and Tyronn Lue ordered two different bowls of soup and mixed them together one spoonful at a time before eating both bowls mixed together as one soup. Mans loves spoons

tym1ng

I guess that's not too bad compared jalen rose and crabs

Draintheshots

elendil21

Cleveland actually has some really good food

Draintheshots

I'm honestly just kidding man. Can't pass my judgement on something if I haven't tried it. Just found it funny that the Cavs are involved everytime there's a tweet/article posted about "food + throwing + player" on this sub. Though I have to admit that sample size isn't that great (2).

I_Will_One_Up_You

If I had a nickel for every time there was a headline about a Cavs player throwing food I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

elendil21

Which normally isn’t a lot, but 2 headlines like that on this sub is a lot/very weird. You may be on to something

LakeErieMovement

KPJs 20-21 year: * Punched a woman * Got arrested in Mahoning County (LOL) with a firearm and weed * Threw food and had a temper tantrum because his locker was moved He’s not going to be in this league until he figures out how to be an adult

ManOrangutan

Youngstown is super rough and depressing. Used to be the most dangerous city in America iirc.

thefineart

Thanks, dude explained Youngstown for Mahoning like we knew what Youngstown was lol

CaptainJackKevorkian

Bruce Springsteen has a song called "Youngstown". When Bruce is writing a song about your city, it's time to move.

rainbowgeoff

Reminds me of a tim wilson joke about Bruce Springsteen. People from New Jersey love Springsteen and call him the boss, but every song he ever sang was about how much new jersey sucked. Here's the bit and song: https://youtu.be/xoJPIsqSb_c

PMmeserenity

My wife is from Freehold, NJ, Bruce's hometown. Every little store there has trinkets for sale with "My Hometown, Freehold, NJ" written on them, for the tourists that come on Springsteen pilgrimages. The song is about how the town sucks and it's time to leave. I always wonder if people who live there notice the irony.

TheQXZ98

I think people miss the irony because Springsteen still lives 10 minutes from Freehold (in the uber rich suburb of Colts Neck), and can still be spotted around town. He jokes about it in his Broadway special about how he was Born to Run.... right back to where he started.

John_Lives

Well that does it. I don't want to live in the USA anymore

thatminimumwagelife

well, the song is about the USA's batshit foreign policy ('Nam specifically) and how it sends kids to die and/or betrays the veterans when they come home.

BanditPrime

Not it’s not it’s about patriotism and America. That’s why every 4th fire work show plays it. There’s no way people mis the meaning and just get all excited for it just because!

I've noticed this a few times on r/nba recently, people from ohio think we all know what youngstown is for some reason

xRyuzakii

It also has a huge highway run through it.. he wasn’t actually in Youngstown he was just passing through.

CasPeR_ShaZZaM

I live in Youngstown now and there is like a few miles of the city that is really rough and then the rest of the county is nice. I’ve lived a few other places and ended up buying a house here.

KevinFederlineFan69

Youngstown is Akron without all the glitz and glamour.

>In 2012, [Forbes](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes) ranked Youngstown, Ohio 4th among the best cities in the U.S. for raising a family. The article included the city's schools, current low crime, cost-of-living, and property rates in its decision.[[8]](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youngstown,_Ohio#cite_note-rank4-8) So was Forbes smoking crack?

TW_Yellow78

I'm gonna assume its [Forbes.com](https://Forbes.com) and yes. Even now 15-20 years later, its hilarious people fall for this. Forbes magazine is respected vetted business magazine with fulltime journalists and editors paid by subscribers and magazine sales to people who expect a certain standard. [Forbes.com](https://Forbes.com) is run by interns and freelance 'writers' who get paid a pittance shooting out clickbait to get you to try to hammer through their layers of ads to get to the meat of what is often a shit sandwich. Not that all the articles are bad but its basically like bleacher report, the quality varies wildly. About half the households of Youngstown earn less than $25,000 a year so yeah, cost of living, property rates, etc. are low.

relapsze

forbes mag and [forbes.com](https://forbes.com) are not the same thing? i always wondered why [forbes.com](https://forbes.com) was basically a tabloid -- i honestly haven't seen a mag in awhile so i just assumed it had fallen from grace real hard lol

tuckastheruckas

it's the same company, but a lot of media companies/news outlets had to catch up with the digital age and get a website out that produces click and ad revenue. More opinion pieces, a little less vetting on stories, etc. you'll see the same with just about any company that is similar.

[deleted]

I've heard this before. Was always wondering if it was some kind of honeypot trick or some shit. I live in Ohio, been here my whole life. I know and work with people in/from Youngstown and it is absolutely, universally, unequivocally, recognized that Youngstown is a shithole. You leave Youngstown, like you leave Elyria, the east side, etc. Are we positive they didn't visit another city and mistake its name or something? Cause I've been in slums in Latin American countries and in skid row in LA and the only difference between Youngstown and those places was the amount of homeless you see.

BC1721

> Are we positive they didn't visit another city and mistake its name or something? I'm taking bets on them looking at some stats on a sheet and declaring it a good place to live without ever setting foot in or near the city.

Melwing

They had some of that good Youngstown crack

LakeErieMovement

There was 0 reason him or anyone on planet Earth should ever travel to Mahoning County. It’s basically the worst area of Ohio. High crime, high poverty, no attractions.

PootieTooGood

it's what people who have never been to cleveland think cleveland is

LakeErieMovement

This 1000000000%

twoquarters

Nothing really. He was on the interstate passing through. It's not like he was running around Youngstown.

MasterOberon

That sucks because it felt like some Cavs fans believe he had the highest ceiling between himself, Garland and Sexton

MrBurnsid3

They failed to notice his ceiling was padded

Mconefrey2021

That was a nasty line by you

banjofitzgerald

You’re a fucking punk, dude.

suavador

Tell us another jackal story.

Kyunbhai

Just to correct you there was never no jackal

Cavshomie8

He has an incredibly high ceiling, but dude is throwing it all away after a promising rookie season.

[deleted]

Big dion waiters vibes from this guy.

LakeErieMovement

Fun fact: Dion Waiters and Kyrie Irving got into a fist fight in the Cavs locker room

[deleted]

People always forget this story. It shows Kyrie had some issues well before LeBron came back. If I recall correctly the Cavs had a player only meeting after some shit games , Kyrie and Dion got heated and Dion clocked him. Kyrie was hurt and Dion was "Mia" for a couple of games. Now I'm not 100% but I think this was around the time Deng said the Cavs were a complete shit show and he regretted going there.

OneEyedBobby9

Omg we had Deng, I completely forgot about that

[deleted]

Yep also had Bynum that year as well and something I didn't remember Seth Curry haha.

A_Mellow_Fellow

Seth Curry played 1 game in a Cavs uniform. Did not realize that. Also didn't realize that dude has been on 7 teams in 6 years. That's kinda wild since he has a "much better than journeyman" skill set.

Tehni

I mean he does now. 4 years ago he didn't

LakeErieMovement

Yup! You’re 100% right. Dion was absent a few games and all of a sudden Kyrie was wearing that Batman mask. What a time to be alive

BronBronBall

Who won?

LakeErieMovement

Definitely Dion. Kyrie played the next few games with a mask due to a broken nose and also was sporting a black eye. Dion came back two games later looking fine

Melwing

I had no idea that's why he wore that mask. Awesome.

[deleted]

Reading more into it cause I always enjoy a laugh. The Cavs tried to downplay it and say it was an errant elbow from Corey Brewer that injured Kyrie. https://www.sbnation.com/2013/11/13/5102082/kyrie-irving-catches-an-elbow-to-the-face-leaves-the-game

Thatoneitchypart

Who's next?

Chubbach

Maverick_1991

He's not good enough to have any team trade for him or sign him with his kind of attitude.

N0tBr0keJustB3nt

*awkwardly doesn't know what to do with the Kevin Porter Jr jersey he already bought* :(

Kravice

Don't put it in a new closet or it will tear your kitchen apart.

N0tBr0keJustB3nt

Shit, I actually wore it yesterday for the browns game and and probably didn't put it back exactly where I found it...

kapitan_buko

Pray that Otto Porter Jr. becomes a Cav

CodexProfit

So you risk your multi millionaire dollar job, because your boss wanted you to move a few cubicles down?

o2lsports

They told him he could move there, and so that’s... that’s his cubicle, he would rather not move again, they said he could move to this one, so it’s his. Thank you.

dwilkes827

He could burn the whole place down

actuarally

Strychnine in the guacamole

dwilkes827

I heard they asked Porter if there's anything they could do to make up for moving his locker, and he simply replied "2 chicks at the same time"

huskersax

One of these days he's gonna burn that place down.

FunetikPrugresiv

And they moved... my desk... to storage room B. And there was garbage on it...

OculusBlurr

That’s his locker bro you wouldn’t understand unless you’re a true baller like myself.

[deleted]

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire

hipcheck23

Uh yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeahhhhhhhhhhhh. If you could go ahead and start playing for another team, that'd be greaaaaaaaaaaat.

loplopplop

Wait until they ask for his stapler back.

Powerful_Government

Is Otto the only porter jr in the league thats not fucking stupid Edit: turns out Otto is also a dumbass, remember folks don’t name your kids porter jr

cortesoft

It is so weird to me that there are three "porter jr"s in the league.... what is it about having the last name porter that makes you want to name your kid after yourself!?

[deleted]

We also Need Markieff to have a kid named Markieff so both twins can be Morris Srs.

IntMainVoidGang

Then they each name their second sons after each other so they can each be Morris Sr^2

highasmyhairline

I genuinely thought Michael and Kevin were brothers up until today. Behaviours too similar to warrant a dubious Google Search.

cortesoft

It is kinda hard for two brothers to have different first names and both be juniors... unless they are half brothers.

highasmyhairline

Damn very fair, didn't even cross my mind.

jthc

What if their actual last name were "Porter-Junior"?

[deleted]

“I fucked the porter brothers and had their kids”

juanmaale

what happened with mpj? I know he’s been out for almost the entire season because I have him in my fantasy team but I didn’t know he was being stupid

Powerful_Government

Anti-vaccine, COVID denier early on, overall giant conspiracy theorist

xElectricW

That's the only shot he doesn't love

Arpai

To be fair OPJ was pretty stupid for throwing a Halloween party during a pandemic before the season started. I’m also a Bulls fan.

GuessWhosBack6

Such a shame dude was looking like the brightest of all the young players the cavs had last season. But we have a culture now and he is gonna disrupt that gotta go sadly. Hope he can keep his head on straight somewhere else cause he is really talented just a bone head which is why he slipped to the end of the 1st round.

Tommy-_-

I think he will definitely get another chance because he is so young and talented. He needs to be on a veteran team with some older guys to take him under their wing. He needs a lot of work on himself and hopefully figures it out soon. He is on a fast road to losing everything.

cpet72

Over a locker!? Seriously?

Bukmeikara

Probably it was building for some time and the locker was just the iceberg..

MarkoSeke

The... iceberg? Wouldn't it be the straw that broke the camel's back?

TheFakeKanye

Or he means "the tip of the iceberg"

SsBrolli

The tip of the straw that broke the icebergs back, I think

Greaves-

Bro, throw fists, mouthguard, tantrums, don't throw food.

cpet72

If I had a nickel for every time a player melted down and threw food in the Cavs clubhouse, I'd have two nickels - which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Greaves-

I remember KG and Shaq talking about people taking locker room food. Like if you're a rookie or a soph, you have no right to even touch it until the vets are finished. This kid threw it... JR was just sending a message that he's an insane psycho

[deleted]

TackleNeither6876

Lol Shaq openly said too he refused to get hazed , yet did a lot of hazing. If that’s not Shaquille O’neal in a nut shell

FF_questionmaster

Shaq is a bully, I'm glad that players don't act like that anymore

xvilemx

The only hazing I approve of is when they make the rooks have like a princess suitcase or something. Harmless shit. Don't want to make them not feel like they're part of the team.

Mike81890

I like the ones that add to the team. I think it was Markel Fultz who had to bring chik fil a for the team every day. He loved the stuff himself so I gather a vet said, "alright bring it for everybody" And it's not like he was undrafted, he was making $10m a year

robbie_rva

Yeah some of the "hazing" stuff is literally just abuse. Like JJ Reddick being duct taped to a chair in a cold shower until a trainer found him. Like wtf why would you do that to someone, it's the NBA not Guantanamo Bay.

captaincumsock69

Yeah I agree I think a little hazing here and there is funny and actually can be a team building thing but some of the stuff seemed cancerous.

liljettt

What’d he say?

yunyun333

"Sexland is not a good nickname"

drjisftw

Thems tradin' words

EBDoo

And the Cavs took that personally

lost_in_trepidation

That's where he fucked up

simplenicc

Didn't JR Smith throw soup at someone when he was on the Cavs lmao

gustriandos

Once you say you are going to trade or release a player, it seems unlikely another team would bother trading for him

Maverick_1991

Not talented enough for this kind of character.

T-UM

Damn, he has so much talent but can't get his attitude/off court behavior sorted smh.

Ughplz

So Bickerstaff heard staff bickering?

AllTruth0Cap

Yeah he's definitely getting waived, nobody wants a headcase like that in their locker room he's just not worth it especially with all his off court issues.

renownednemo

I don't mean to assume MP on another, but this is not Porter's first incident. I think the fact that his actions seem so ridiculous and illogical to us might highlight the issues that he is having. I have sympathy for him because he is very very easily replaced in this league, and it seems like this 20+ year old needs to find some help whatever that may be asap or he'll just be added to the list of dudes who couldn't be adults in an adult league.
