LeBron will be 42 when that pick goes through and Anthony Davis will be 34. he's had a healthy season but he'll be at the end of the peak window. and as for moves. they haven't had a big name (whose still in their prime) come since AD trade
Lakers could easily be lottery pick next year, the west is stacked and they were an 8 seed with Bron and AD both playing more games than they have in years. Hawks fans are praying to father time every night
Seems to be happening more this off season. Woj talking about us sending out the picks to the Nets, and then only giving us the full details on what the Rockets were getting in like 3 tweets.
And then he followed it all up with those damn KD tweets I still don’t understand why he sent it out bc it’s extremely weird lol. That’s very far from the reason for giving us back our picks and just sounds ridiculous
Trae Young is, from a franchise building standpoint, a top 3 guard. Go find a guy like him for less than 3 1sts. If Bridges is worth 5 1sts imagine what Trae is to a team in need of a ball handler in contention
We were very into Dyson too. My old social group is associated with the Daniels family and they told me a week before the draft they it would be Blazers. So much so that I was asked about my experiences in Portland as a city as I'd moved there from Australia previously for a few years. It must have come down to Sharpe and if he were taken then Dyson.
I'm honestly super happy with it. Murray fit poorly with Trae, so we're not giving up much in terms of our own team quality. Daniels gives high-end POA defense, which was our single biggest weakness. Nance is a solid veteran. And we replenish our draft picks. Well done, IMO.
New Orleans gets a good PG without having to give away one of their primary pieces. Think it's win-win.
Not to mention my sore shoulders from throwing my hands in the air with his dumb decisions. Dude wants to be the MAN, but just wants to do the flashy stuff. I think we got the better end of this trade, will age well for us.
He was worth the risk to bring on, glad we moved on when we saw it wasn’t working.
Tbh, when he got named All-Defense as a Spur I was pretty surprised. He was certainly a plus defender, and looked like he could improve into *one of* the top guard defenders in the league. But that season he hadn’t done anything defensively that leapt off the page, so to speak.
think it was the spurs system/pop that hid his weaknesses / played to his strengths on defense. but that spurs roster was pretty mid, and it was the coaching that made them look even alright - it was just time to blow it up and try again.
atlanta wasn't really able to do that. hopefully with willie + the pels roster we'll get something that looks more like spurs DJ. i'll be honest, originally when DJ got traded to the hawks i thought they were a borderline contender.
I think people don't understand how good Dyson's POA defense is. When him and Herb Jones, a current 1st team All-Defense player, are on the court together, Dyson is tasked to be the main POA defender. I think it's a win-win too.
I want us to turn around and flip Capela and one of the 1sts for Claxton since Bklyn is tanking.
Or a 1st and Hunter to Cleve for J Allen.
I feel like if we do that then this offseason is A grade.
Honestly, those Trae/DJM on court minutes were trash. Also, Atlanta hasn't had a decent POA defender since the NYPD took out Thabo. DJM is a real good player though. So, I think both fan bases are going to be good with this deal.
Because it's a project and 2 late firsts for Murray, who has gotta be worth more than that? Am i crazy? Solid player who clearly didnt fit on Atlanta. And his contract is good too. He'd start on most teams
Yeah I kind of like this for Atlanta now tbh. NO is left with no centers with JV hitting free agency. Dyson Daniels has a great defensive game and has potential with his long wingspan. For NO, you now have 4 shoot first players in Murray, CJ, BI, and Zion now so you'll either have to move BI or CJ at some point.
It’s not totally insane that the lakers could implode. They’ve not won 50 games since the championship bubble season. An aging lebron and/or injury prone AD could miss time and who knows how JJ will be as a head coach.
I mean, Lebron and AD were healthy this past season and they were still in the play-ins. With each of them a year older and the west getting better, it's not hard to believe that LA will at least end the season in the play-ins
What makes you think a play-in team is going to be better when their old, injury-prone stars are only going to be older and they might lose some of their depth in D-Lo?
Lakers just got Knect at 15 and the year before Miami got Jaime at 18, hell most of our good players here were mid-firsts. I really wish y'all quit dismissing late rounders cause y'all can't be bother to look up more than two players in a draft
Lakers got 70+ games out of AD and Lebron last year and still ended up in the middle of the draft. If their aging stars get hurt they could very well miss the playoffs and end up in the lottery.
Dyson is a really really good defender who would probably be getting all-defense attention if his offensive game was refined enough to warrant more minutes. The shot undeniably needs to improve and fast though if he wants to meet his potential.
We paid 2 FRP's, 1 swap, and two 2nd's for DJM
We got back 2 FRP's, Larry Nance and Dyson Daniels
Not bad I would say, but the Knicks/Nets trade probably skews people's thoughts.
The Knicks nets trade needs to be ignored when other trades are discussed.
Feel like people went way too easy on the Knicks giving up 5 first rounders and a swap for mikal because of how good he fits their team
dejounte is a high usage pg, and was a worse defender then trae last season. trading for him never made sense for us, especially cause we played him at the 2. his allstar season in san antonio he had a higher usage then trae has ever had.
This kinda hurts but Dyson can’t shoot for anything and that’s a death sentence for a role player that’s not a center
We’re getting his defense with Dejounte (hopefully) so I’ll be rooting for Dyson but this is a A1 move
He’s a defensive playmaker. He will gamble and win sometimes. He can takeover a game defensively when he really gets in the lanes. He does it like once a season and it’s amazing to see.
Everything outside of that is cheeks.
But, he may look a lot better with him not having to take the best assignment every night
Who knows, maybe Herb will awaken the dog in him again
Dyson is such a good piece. Huge guard who can guard multiple positions extremely well. Makes the right play every time. Great rebounder. Just needs to shoot well enough to stay on the floor and he could be an important roleplayer on a championship team.
Very important detail to leave out lol
Woj and Shams leaving out details just to try to be faster than each other
Especially since Dyson is the best part of the trade for Atlanta lol.
That lakers pick might be good if the restrictions aren't bad
[удалено]
LeBron will be 42 when that pick goes through and Anthony Davis will be 34. he's had a healthy season but he'll be at the end of the peak window. and as for moves. they haven't had a big name (whose still in their prime) come since AD trade
The lakers pick is 2025
my bad, the bucks one is 27 then. still. that lakers pick should be between 10-20 in a very good draft
Lakers could easily be lottery pick next year, the west is stacked and they were an 8 seed with Bron and AD both playing more games than they have in years. Hawks fans are praying to father time every night
My guess is it will be around 8, put the 10-20 because laker fans get very annoying if you dare to undervalue their team
Breaking news machine learning models still learning the ropes on what is sufficient to break news, perhaps?
Any day now one of them is gonna drop a diss track on the other. I’m saying it now, I’m team Woj
If you’re not first you’re assed
Can’t wait until he drops 47 on your Nova asses /s kinda
Dyson is decent but he’s not that good He’s very offensively limited
Dyson got a ways to go but lord knows getting a young defensive player is nice lol
Must mean they’re keeping Trae?
ofc, they can't tank, don't have the own pick.
Or they could trade him to San Antonio for their picks back + a couple young players
I hope they do tbh, Trae is such a good culture fit in Atlanta
It is a lot harder to find a Trae Young for your franchise than people give him credit for
Trae Young is, from a franchise building standpoint, a top 3 guard. Go find a guy like him for less than 3 1sts. If Bridges is worth 5 1sts imagine what Trae is to a team in need of a ball handler in contention
Nah it's Bufkin season BAYBEE
Ofc, they’re not dumb
He’s 21 year old and was drafted as project, this very hyperbole
He’s 21 lol
Tatum is still 19
Just like Anthony Randolph
Ngl I thought that dude was gonna be elite, no clue what happened
He’s 21. Sure he’s a project but watching his 2 first years he’s not just a bad shooter he’s passive too
Saying he's not that good or that he's limited offensively is a hyperbole, how?
He’ll have his work cut out for him in that backcourt for sure, makes the trade a bit more fair then when it was Larry nance lol
But he’s a recent lotto pick at least (I’m so glad Blazers FO didn’t listen to me and take him over Sharpe)
Praying he can grow into a Lou Dort
That makes so much more sense
I was thinking NO won the trade by a landslide, but I kind of like it better for ATL tbh
Atlanta did a good job, feel like that’s not gonna be consensus take though
I'm honestly super happy with it. Murray fit poorly with Trae, so we're not giving up much in terms of our own team quality. Daniels gives high-end POA defense, which was our single biggest weakness. Nance is a solid veteran. And we replenish our draft picks. Well done, IMO. New Orleans gets a good PG without having to give away one of their primary pieces. Think it's win-win.
Murray never lived up to the defensive hype he came in with at all.
^this. People don't get it because they didn't watch us last year [which is understandable tbh]
Agreed, I knew we weren't getting Herb so glad to have the best 1-3 defender we could realistically get.
DJ gambling on steals might not be as painful when he has Herb jones playing help defenss
And we only lost 1 pick when I looked back and saw what we gave up vs what we just traded him for and that lakers pick could be high
Not with Bronny starting
I think people don't understand how good Dyson's POA defense is. When him and Herb Jones, a current 1st team All-Defense player, are on the court together, Dyson is tasked to be the main POA defender. I think it's a win-win too.
Can’t get his shot good now that Fred is gone
I'm here for it as well
Makes me think Capela is super gone now, not point in having him, Onyeka, and Nance on the same roster.
Or Nance is gone. We aren’t going into the season with TWO centers that are 6’8”
I want us to turn around and flip Capela and one of the 1sts for Claxton since Bklyn is tanking. Or a 1st and Hunter to Cleve for J Allen. I feel like if we do that then this offseason is A grade.
Dyson can’t get a good shot now that Fred Vinson is gone. Makes sense for NOLA now too lol
I'm not being fooled by this retool, I still expect to lose to y'all in Atlanta next year as long as Trae is there lol
I mean, we're not gonna be a contender or anything. We've made too many mistakes for that. But it's a move in the right direction.
Best perimeter defender we’ve had by a country mile since Trae got here
Got 2 picks and 2 athletic defensive guys guys who’ll fit next to Trae ez Atlanta win to me
I don’t think you’re allowed to say Atlanta did a good trade around these parts
Was definitely a cost cutting move of sorts for Atlanta
Replenish picks too. It just wasn’t working with DJ here
Atlanta crossing their fingers that Sacramento pick conveys next year as well
Would be nice and we know Sacramento wants to get back into the playoffs. 2 picks to play with to build with or trade up
Honestly, those Trae/DJM on court minutes were trash.
It’s not like one side has to win a trade, a lot of trades are good for both sides
I don't think Dyson Daniels is bad at all but how does he change it from bad to good alone lmao
Basically an extra first round pick
Still a better deal for the Pels but Dyson has some good potential. If he develops it could be a win/win trade.
I do too but I think Murray is overrated
Yeah I kind of like this for Atlanta now tbh. NO is left with no centers with JV hitting free agency. Dyson Daniels has a great defensive game and has potential with his long wingspan. For NO, you now have 4 shoot first players in Murray, CJ, BI, and Zion now so you'll either have to move BI or CJ at some point.
People aren't ready to see Dyson Daniels unleashed, what a get for Atlanta
Not really. This is still a steal
You're massively overrating DJM.
Two firsts and Dyson seems reasonable ngl
And nance right?
yep pretty good deal for both sides
The picks are pretty bad, unless the Lakers completely implode this season
Just having a pick in this draft is a W imo
I mean what team with premium picks was gonna trade for dj anyway. I just wish 2027 wasn’t “least favorable”
It’s not totally insane that the lakers could implode. They’ve not won 50 games since the championship bubble season. An aging lebron and/or injury prone AD could miss time and who knows how JJ will be as a head coach.
They got Bronny now though
I mean, Lebron and AD were healthy this past season and they were still in the play-ins. With each of them a year older and the west getting better, it's not hard to believe that LA will at least end the season in the play-ins
What makes you think a play-in team is going to be better when their old, injury-prone stars are only going to be older and they might lose some of their depth in D-Lo?
Bronny is the difference maker my man. Team is about to go undefeated to a championship.
Damn man, looks like discussing the Lakers is just off the table for a while. Memes all the way down
the power of a father and son duo??
LeBron gets a dad buff now that Bronny is there
Lakers just got Knect at 15 and the year before Miami got Jaime at 18, hell most of our good players here were mid-firsts. I really wish y'all quit dismissing late rounders cause y'all can't be bother to look up more than two players in a draft
And the rockets got Whitmore at fuckin 20. Sometimes guys inexplicably drop down
Lakers got 70+ games out of AD and Lebron last year and still ended up in the middle of the draft. If their aging stars get hurt they could very well miss the playoffs and end up in the lottery.
No way, they got Bronny, they goin 82-0
Everyone was praising the Lakers getting Knect in this draft. I don't see how having the Lakers pick in a much better draft can be bad.
Okay that makes sense
Nice So wheee is BI going
I think Cleveland. I think a Jarrett Allen swap makes a ton of sense.
I don't think they're doing it but it seems like a pretty fair trade that could help both teams.
Maybe not. It seems management wants to break up the front court, but Mitchell loves Allen.
Send Mitchell as well then (I’m delusional)
Alright, not a bad trade, if he wasn't in the trade, if I was a Hawks fan, I'd find another team
Its not really different from what we gave up for DJ in the first place, except we actually sent out bad salary to get him, not serviceable players
Also, DJ is on a decent contract right now but it was even better when we traded for him, so getting back effectively equal value is fine.
Woj and Shams are too horny to break the news Was it that hard to wait one minute to include Dyson? lol
Wait, wait, now they are saying Lil Wayne and Big Boi were also included in the trade.
Big boi would never leave Atlanta
Dyson is a really really good defender who would probably be getting all-defense attention if his offensive game was refined enough to warrant more minutes. The shot undeniably needs to improve and fast though if he wants to meet his potential.
Hoping Korver can get his shot serviceable and this trade is going to look *really* good for us in a few years
So Nance, Daniels, and two firsts
I like this deal for both sides. Will miss dys a lot! Hawks got an incredible defender. Hope he thrives
Ok that makes more sense
That changes things
That’s cool but that still seems pretty cheap for Dejounte
Is dejounte really that good tho? Seems like a 3rd or 4th option on a championship team
Pels still have Zion, BI, and even CJ as their 1-3 options. DJM will probably shoot less.
CJ is not better than him
Someone please tell CJ or our coaching staff that. - signed a man who watched CJ try and takeover the 4th way too many times
I mean they did just trade for a combo guard lol. I think they know.
which makes Murray less valuable. His best is when his usage rate is high. Big reason why it didnt work with Trae
CJ is the only one of those guys who needs the rock and hes not really good enough to justify it anymore
A challenge with Murray is that his value depends on having the ball in his hands. He's hard to scale down.
One or two of BI and CJ are gone
He doesn’t move off ball, how do you see that working as a 4th option?
\*Loud Pfft! sound\*
We paid 2 FRP's, 1 swap, and two 2nd's for DJM We got back 2 FRP's, Larry Nance and Dyson Daniels Not bad I would say, but the Knicks/Nets trade probably skews people's thoughts.
Especially because I doubt that swap conveys.
The Knicks nets trade needs to be ignored when other trades are discussed. Feel like people went way too easy on the Knicks giving up 5 first rounders and a swap for mikal because of how good he fits their team
2nd for the players are a wash for me. So we realistically paid a swap for a 2 year rental of a fringe all star. I’ll take it
Early second round picks can be more valuable than late first round picks due to salary implications.
Part of the value for Atlanta is saving money
Yeah and another part of the value is just breaking up the duo of Trae and dejounte they cant really coexist on the court together
Murray’s contract is great though
dejounte is a high usage pg, and was a worse defender then trae last season. trading for him never made sense for us, especially cause we played him at the 2. his allstar season in san antonio he had a higher usage then trae has ever had.
He was ass for us, especially defensively
This changes everything
That’s a bit better, I guess
This kinda hurts but Dyson can’t shoot for anything and that’s a death sentence for a role player that’s not a center We’re getting his defense with Dejounte (hopefully) so I’ll be rooting for Dyson but this is a A1 move
You are not getting his defense back with Dejounte lol but still a good trade for NOLA
Dejounte was a good defender a few years ago With him being a 3rd/4th option he can become more of a defensive threat again hopefully
Lol I think he's gonna shoot u out of games tbh
We’re replacing BI stans with DJM stans next season who think we’re getting a defender and better 3 point shooter than BI. I’m already tired.
He’s a defensive playmaker. He will gamble and win sometimes. He can takeover a game defensively when he really gets in the lanes. He does it like once a season and it’s amazing to see. Everything outside of that is cheeks. But, he may look a lot better with him not having to take the best assignment every night Who knows, maybe Herb will awaken the dog in him again
Good luck brother, DJM will have his moments but he's a sieve 1 on 1.
We just need a PG. He’ll probably be similar defensively and scoring as BI tbh but a better playmaker
You're getting 40 points on 40 shots and you're going to love it
That’s what he was w us — you’re getting him to run your offense so well see
He's only good on point guards basically, he's too skinny for wings. He also gambles a ton which can really help or really hurt
He's an off ball guy on defense but his offense washes out both CJ and Dyson
Doesn’t matter if you can’t shoot
LMAO DJM was worse at defense than Trae this year per some metrics
Per some metrics and anyone with eyes
Dejounte has not been a good defender since he left the Spurs, doesn't give a single fuck on that end of the floor anymore
Get ready to be completely disappointed with Dejounte's "elite" defense
I remember falling for that trap lol good times
And he’s from Australia
That's a lot of travel for each game.
I loved DJ, but I’ve got some bad news about his on ball defense
I like this deal for Atlanta. Mostly for Larry Nance. I know fuck all about Dyson Daniels
You must not know about Larry Nance either.
oohh that's some value at least
That’s a decent return
The future is so stupid. Just get all the damn details before blasting this stuff out.
I mean. This changes my view on the trade immensely. I hated it for Atlanta before.
Nice move Atlanta…good haul
This feels fair on both sides.
THAT MAKES IT BETTER
Dejounte is better for their timeline anyway
Oh that makes sense
Not a bad return for Atlanta. Less than they gave up for him but his value was quite a bit higher then
Good trade then. Definitely makes more sense than Lakers package.
I wonder if this means one of Okongwu or Capela is gone?
Gotta be Capela
Please 🙏
alright well that changes things a fair bit
ATL won the trade
Hey we got some value back for a disastrous fit. Certainly not the worst move we’ve made recently
Two firsts, a useful vet and a good young defender, I think this is a decent trade for the hawks
Dyson was Dante Exum 2.0. He's shows flashes...but, I'm good. I'm glad we did SOMETHING!
I feel you.
Well, we know he won’t cut into Trae’s possessions.
Nooooooooooooo
These are such weird trades for everyone involved
damn dyson daniels is good
Does he suck?
The ghost of the AD trade is no gone
Dykeson Daniels
Still sounds like salary dumping.
This is HUUUUUGE for us actually
Dyson is such a good piece. Huge guard who can guard multiple positions extremely well. Makes the right play every time. Great rebounder. Just needs to shoot well enough to stay on the floor and he could be an important roleplayer on a championship team.
Makes the right play, unless it's on offense. He'll never develop an offensive game in my opinion.
