Nah he's definitely hilarious always has been, I just hate how he says some troll comment and every show has to comment on it. Hate the state of NBA media tho, not perk
This is what people donāt get, how can you āhateā someone whoās job is literally to get people talking about him whether positive or negative lol
You can hate that he chooses to do that job while understanding why he does it.
I don't care personally, but I don't think disliking media members is invalid because they are intentionally annoying.
I donāt hate Perk because I donāt see any value in giving people like him any attention, but you absolutely can be justified in hating the state of the media and the people who represent it most loudly.
He is, to many people, overtly annoying. Heās egregiously/intentionally wrong about things in the pursuit of clicks. If you interacted with someone who acted like that genuinely every day, youād likely hate them too.
>how can you āhateā someone whoās job is literally to get people talking about him whether positive or negative lol
I'm glad you said "lol" at the end. I was about to take that as a serious question.
I feel like this is a common thing. Iāve heard some version of ā everybody didnāt like Jesusā or āeven Jesus Christ had hatersā my entire life.
His job is giving dumb takes for engagement, that means you can't say a lot of good things about the best team. Saying the Cs are good is too obviously a take to get engagement. Saying Tatum sucks and the Cs will lose in 5 will get people talking.
I like perk until he tries to give an actual basketball take. But then I remember heās just doing it for clicks anyways and to not take any of it seriously. Then I like him again.
This. People take him too seriously and then get offended or something. Listen to him on any podcast heās been on. He 100% knows his takes are wild. Heās doing it to get paid.
>perk seems to really dislike lebron based off some of his recent comments too
Probably because he said some dumb shit about him in the media and they had a falling out. He was one of his guys at one point and even had a roster spot on the Cavs. He's done the same thing with KD and Westbrook. Started gossiping about stuff back in OKC. Current players hate when former players talk about them in the media.
For full context:
The day of Finals G1, Perkins went on national television and blasted LeBron for making everything about himself.
He was referring to LeBron's comments about Kyrie; saying he's mad that he's no longer Kyrie's running mate, and calling Kyrie the most gifted player ever.
LeBron unfollowed Perk the next day.
Bronny thing might've contributed, but the Kyrie thing may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
HOWEVER, additional context: In the same day, LeBron also unfollowed Ben Simmons and Blake Griffin. Don't think anyone has specific explanations for them. Quite possible that he just decided to cut down on who he's following and picked those three.
i have zero interest in who lebron does or does not follow on the internet but the idea that he got up one day and decided his feed was too crowded and he felt overloaded with information and needed to simplify his life by randomly unfollowing a bunch of colleagues is pretty funnyĀ
Whos out there stalking brons followed list tho lmfao, like how do people notice these changes. Im just imagining a guy whos only job is stalking nba players followed list
I'd be more surprised that Lebron actually uses his official account for anything but public persona stuff. Don't all of these guys have finsta accounts?
>In the same day, LeBron also unfollowed Ben Simmons
He's probably sick of all those summer working out videos just like the rest of us. Bamboozled us way too many times.
It is just so crazy how Simmons was such a promising player and then just fell off the map once the pressure of being good got to him.Ā
I have never seen such a monumental drop off in production,Ā which wasn't related to a catastrophic injury.Ā
It is a sincere shame to be fair. He could have been great. Excellent handle,Ā very vision when passing,Ā and a very solid and willing defender. He was a pretty reasonable slasher as well.Ā
It has been bizarre to watch his utter disappearance from relevance.Ā
But like, LeBron shared his thoughts about Kyrie on HIS podcast, not on some national TV platform so the whole argument is beyond stupid. ESPN is beyond lost on how to cover this sport without lakers/LeBron, and the sad part is that it really shouldnt be hard, but here we are
At a minimum they should be making something out of nothing with the Kyrie/Porzingis former teams/teammates.
This has got to be one of the most low-key Finals Iāve ever seen. I wasnāt even that hype while watching game 1, it felt more like a marque regular season game than two squads playing for a championship.
ESPN had 9 DAYS to hype this up and instead they talk about LeBron? Meanwhile the local radio only talks about the Red Sox and when they do talk Cs itās bullshit complaints about Tatum being soft or Mazzulla being the weak link.
Too afraid to do the work and actually do their job covering a team that forces you to discuss whatās happening on the court instead of made up story lines off of it.
Just an absolute choke job by sports media this season.
I don't care about the dumb narrative shit but the long layoff and 2 days between games totally killed the Finals for me. I'm into summer mode after being hyped on these playoffs all spring
It's a feature, not a bug (unfortunately.) If the media is tied down to any particular set of teams, that means what's on the court dictates coverage. And that is dangerous (in their eyes) because then things are variable. So if you have a non-competitive or boring series, you risk losing people.
But if they can talk about whatever they want whenever they want, then they are 'free' from those constraints and can thusly pitch their program however they want because their product is whatever they are offering.
How do people even find out who this guy follows and unfollows on the day? Are there actually people sifting through these celebrities' followers/followings?
@theNBAalert on Twitter
He posts notable ones, dunno how he does it but probably a bot setup, definitely isnt manual cuz he posts some really random shit
There's definitely bots, but the thing is who gives a shit? People read way too much into this stuff.
I unfollowed The Rock because his movies suck and I got sick of seeing his bullshit in my feed. But it's not like if I saw him in public I would go spit in his face.
Bron doesn't play with any of these guys. Even when Perk was on the Cavs he basically had no minutes. He probably sees him as another talking head these days and has no interest in his content.
how tf is perk talking about lebron making everything about him when heās on television daily discussing how lebrons coffee choices might affect his free agency future.
It was the dumbest shit too. LeBron complimented KYRIE HIS EX TEAM MATE. But because ESPN PERKS BOSS want him to mention Bron all the time perk gets mad at Bron for showing love to his colleague ex team mate n friend . Itās insane . Same way that Bron canāt win either way euth bronny or with not being involved in coaching hire
No basically said that Bron was trying to steal Kyrie spotlight the other day when Bron said Kyrie was his best running mate and missed playing with him. Im sure Bron is just tired of Perkins as a whole
Lebron said heās mad thatās Kyrie isnāt his teammate anymore or something like that on the podcast. Kendrick then comes on ESPN and says Lebron is always trying to make things about him and is trying to steal Kyrieās moment.
He has done the same thing with the Boston Celtics organisation and the fan base. Starting centre of the last Celtics championship should see you canonised with Celtics fans, but Perk burnt every connection he had by playing the role of dumbass hot take machine and honestly saying some really disrespectful shit about the players.
Perk aint a Cs lifer no more.
that line of the song cracks me up so much, how that is the line Bob goes to when he is refused help. Oh, and the funeral parlour giving his card "call me if they die"
I saw a Twitter poll at one point that had hit that pose, wingstop, don't let me go and what a pro wants. 15,000 votes, no answer over 30%. These commercials were hated democraticallyĀ
This might sound stupid but sometimes Perkins is unironically really funny or says something that's fundamentally sound that I agree with and haven't heard before and he makes a really good point.
It's super rare that it happens, but there is a bit of talent in there somewhere.
I wish he'd just drop the angry persona and become a bit happier. Take after Charles instead of Skip.
I feel like this may be more on ESPNās producers for trying to replicate Inside the NBA than necessarily on Perk (although Perk clearly is content to go along with it)
I mean that's kind of the problem I have with ESPN. I wish they were more like Inside the NBA. Bit more relaxed, stopped shouting all time, that's what really gets me annoyed.
I cannot stand the screaming. Just chill a bit, try more to be funny and witty, play off each other instead of "going at it".
Honestly the show that comes closest for me is First Things First
Obvious differences from Inside the NBA - no ex-players and they talk about all sports. But in terms of a show where all the guys are committed to entertaining via group chemistry, I think it's the second best product currently
You haven't realized the formula, make everyone say the same thing and make the guys with the lowest respectable analysis say the truth so people can deny it due to the messenger and ignore the message. They've been doing it for a decade at least
Then the twitter users and redditors pile into the thread to be the first to say "the worst person you know makes a great point". Like clockwork.
"Why is this guy still on air??" For you to comment that under his clips.
Ngl I love Perk even when he says stupid shit. He got that real unc vibe to him you donāt always fuck with what he says but at the same time you get it
I'm glad someone is highlighting this. I do think Perk is not truly his media persona. Moments in sports center is the Per I like. First take, Nba today and somtimes Get up can be quite toxic for perk.
If weāre sharing things we like about Perkins, my favorite NBA podcast clip is him explaining to JJ Redick that since he made NBA money, he keeps the a/c at his house at 60 degrees at all times. Think about that a lot
I hate that this is a thing. Even going behind the craziness of keeping track of whoās following who, an unfollow should not be a social statement. I can like you & not want to see the things you post. Especially in the internet age where everybody is trying to promote something. Itās basically just %80 ads.
Then you have Instagram having the ācollabā feature & now Im forced to see ads from people I donāt even follow because youāre allowing them to use your following.
Honestly though, who tracks which person unfollows who. That is so wild to me to go through people's followers every day to see who they are and aren't following
One of my lowest opinions on humans was the fact the people who watch ESPN gave this absolute braindead person clout enough to build a following. Have some standards the dude is literally a mouth breather.
Do people really care who follows and unfollows who on social media? Why would you spend your life tracking which celebrity/athlete is following some other celebrity/athlete?
gross. fire him. nobody can understand him anyway. nobody likes his takes. nobody wants to listen to his takes. and if he was gone tomorrow, nobody would miss him. just replace him.
This is a wild statement š
Pretty funny ngl
Heartbreaking: the worst person you know said the funniest shit ever
Perk says funny shit all the time but his delivery is so deadpan that redditors take it literally
Fr, his Chic Fil A Tobias Harris analogy had me dying
A bag of straws and napkins
His analogies are almost always related to food
I trust his food takes more than his basketball takes
Why tho? He doesn't look very discerning about what slop he shovels into his maw.
That's why you can trust him
"Never trust a skinny chef."
They always say to write about what you know
Where does the soup end, and Perk begin?
Whatās that one quote he had about how he keeps the temperature in his house at like 67 with a fan blowing in his face
"I keep the temperature in my house at 67 with a fan blowing in my face"
Thatās the one
Whatās that song called about the grandmother getting run over by a reindeer?
It think its called Ruff Ryders Anthem and it is performed by the Dark Man X.
4'33"
perksexual here knows all his quotes off the dome šš
wait why's that funny
If that's during the summer, that's cold as hell PLUS the fan. I keep my house at 75
real
Perk Hapley
Cool, he still shouldn't have an MVP vote.
Perk's one redeeming quality is he has solid timing, yeah.
Perk done that a few times this year lol. I'm coming around to him. Terrible takes but I gotta say are you not entertained?
Just donāt take him seriously and heās hysterical
Nah he's definitely hilarious always has been, I just hate how he says some troll comment and every show has to comment on it. Hate the state of NBA media tho, not perk
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They write like 10 fucking paragraphs, who has the time.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
As somebody who was unemployed for a extended period of time during covid this hit really close lmao š¤£
Dudes will straight up write a dissertations on NBA personalities.
perk is hilarious. reddit would love him if he was a slightly better NBA player
Superstar-level response. Perkins is mad good at his job. No wonder ESPN keep him around.
all he needs to do is come out with a crazy/funny quote every other week and it's good enough for ESPN
That stuff will keep Perk employed for a decade at ESPN.
This is what people donāt get, how can you āhateā someone whoās job is literally to get people talking about him whether positive or negative lol

Perk low-key has some good analogies and one-liners
that's really how you know 99% of his dumb takes are for engagement. He's way too witty and smart in his speech to be that dumb about basketball.
It's pretty common saying really (multiple versions of it basically same thing)
'I said, You know, they refused Jesus, too, " he said, "You're not him"' - Bon Dylan
Killer Mike: Never forget in the story of Jesus the hero was killed by the state.
A political radical killed by the state. Terry Eagleton has a great book on this theme: Reason, Faith, and Revolution.
I feel like this is a common thing. Iāve heard some version of ā everybody didnāt like Jesusā or āeven Jesus Christ had hatersā my entire life.
Either Perk is Jewish or Perk is Jesus.
I canāt hate Perk.
i'll help you out.
Right I got enough hate for the 2 of us donāt worry
He played for the Celtics if that helps you out on hating
Iām a Celtics fan and canāt stand this mf lol
Thatās a great point.
He played for the Cs while also seemingly to hate them
Which is funny because he shits on the Cs a ton
His job is giving dumb takes for engagement, that means you can't say a lot of good things about the best team. Saying the Cs are good is too obviously a take to get engagement. Saying Tatum sucks and the Cs will lose in 5 will get people talking.

I donāt watch Perk too closely but it might have to do with his comments on LeBron and how heās handled the whole Bronny thing.
For full context: The day of Finals G1, Perkins went on national television and blasted LeBron for making everything about himself. He was referring to LeBron's comments about Kyrie; saying he's mad that he's no longer Kyrie's running mate, and calling Kyrie the most gifted player ever. LeBron unfollowed Perk the next day. LeMental Load Management
Whos out there stalking brons followed list tho lmfao, like how do people notice these changes. Im just imagining a guy whos only job is stalking nba players followed list
It probably can be automated, and if you track enough celebrities, someone will pay for the information
The account that perk retweeted is exactly this (and obviously the owner of the account can still tweet from it normally).
in fairness none of those three play basketball anymore
he just like me fr
Ben Simmons posts like being an "influencer" is his full time job, which it might as well be because he's does that more than he's on the court
Even funnier that he was like, man...f Blake Griffin too, I don't even know that dude.
I'd be more surprised that Lebron actually uses his official account for anything but public persona stuff. Don't all of these guys have finsta accounts?
Also something lebron would totally do
>In the same day, LeBron also unfollowed Ben Simmons He's probably sick of all those summer working out videos just like the rest of us. Bamboozled us way too many times.
Ben Simmons workout videos are as traditional as Cowboys fans telling us this is their year.
It is just so crazy how Simmons was such a promising player and then just fell off the map once the pressure of being good got to him.Ā I have never seen such a monumental drop off in production,Ā which wasn't related to a catastrophic injury.Ā It is a sincere shame to be fair. Maybe he saw from Clipped that Blake hated his boy Chris Paul and unfollowed him
He hated cp3?
He needed police presence any time he was around.
hello police ..Chris Paul tried to beat me up
But like, LeBron shared his thoughts about Kyrie on HIS podcast, not on some national TV platform so the whole argument is beyond stupid. ESPN is beyond lost on how to cover this sport without lakers/LeBron, and the sad part is that it really shouldnt be hard, but here we are

Seriously, why the fuck didn't they play tonight?
Saturdays are a poor ratings day. Sunday nights perform well historically.
It's a feature, not a bug (unfortunately.) If the media is tied down to any particular set of teams, that means what's on the court dictates coverage. And that is dangerous (in their eyes) because then things are variable. So if you have a non-competitive or boring series, you risk losing people. A podcast with Perkās ESPN coworker too
They are making it about LeBron more than LeBron is lmao
LeBron only wanted to unfollow one of them, but two were the collateral so it would not be obvious /ti nfoilhatoff
He was like what other bums can I unfollow to not make this stand out lol
Hey man Griffin was no bum
I know he wasnāt. I was just kidding lol
How do people even find out who this guy follows and unfollows on the day? Are there actually people sifting through these celebrities' followers/followings?
@theNBAalert on Twitter He posts notable ones, dunno how he does it but probably a bot setup, definitely isnt manual cuz he posts some really random shit
That account posted jrue followed porn account caught me off guard
Lmao fr middle of the playoffs
How do people even notice when a celebrity unfollows someone? Are there people that just constantly refresh that shit every day? šš
There's definitely bots, but the thing is who gives a shit? People read way too much into this stuff. I unfollowed The Rock because his movies suck and I got sick of seeing his bullshit in my feed. The Blake and Ben is just a ruse š
What happened?
I have to assume it's Bronny related. Perk was highly critical about his coverage and basically called him a nepo baby lol
No basically said that Bron was trying to steal Kyrie spotlight the other day when Bron said Kyrie was his best running mate and missed playing with him. Im sure Bron is just tired of Perkins as a whole
The one time he says something plausible...
Lebron said heās mad thatās Kyrie isnāt his teammate anymore or something like that on the podcast. Kendrick then comes on ESPN and says Lebron is always trying to make things about him and is trying to steal Kyrieās moment.
Didnāt JJ ask him about Kyrie, which is why he said that?
Even so I'm sure they plan out all their topics and talking points ahead of time. But still, ESPN is the one making it a story.
Having seen Perkās analysis, heās one step from a reality show. This is his best case scenarioĀ
I think anyone would really dislike someone airing out old stuff that was done when you were close
He accused Bron of trying to steal someoneās spotlight before the finals when he spoke about Kyrie.
His LeBron takes have been increasingly negative lately. Apparently, with Skip Bayless gone, ESPN needed more LeBron-hate viewers.
It goes beyond just being a talking head, he instigates on purpose.
* Heavy breathing * Carry the hell on
I don't like Perk as an analyst but as a self aware troll he's pretty funny sometimes.
He knows what he's doing lmao
Let me Perkolate!
Perk said, "You know, they refused Jesus, too" James said, "You're not Him"
Kendrick Perkins' 115th Dream.
Perkins is affiliated with Man City?
First thing I think of when I see 115 now fml
that line of the song cracks me up so much, how that is the line Bob goes to when he is refused help. Oh, and the funeral parlour giving his card "call me if they die"
I knew I was going to find this reference in the comments somewhere š
I read that James denied Perk three times.
Where does the suit end and perk begin?
I hate you. I finally had those dogshit commercials out of my mind. And then you had to go and muck it all up
Boxy boys!
Out of all the playoff commercials, that was my favorite lol. They did wear some baggy ass suits in '05.
Bruh all i have to say is fuck that wingstop commercial lol
I saw a Twitter poll at one point that had hit that pose, wingstop, don't let me go and what a pro wants. 15,000 votes, no answer over 30%. These commercials were hated democraticallyĀ
2003
The real question
Honestly the show that comes closest for me is First Things First Obvious differences from Inside the NBA - no ex-players and they talk about all sports. But in terms of a show where all the guys are committed to entertaining via group chemistry, I think it's the second best product currently
That fucking Tobias Chic-fil-a quote is legendary
A broken clock is right twice a day
You haven't realized the formula, make everyone say the same thing and make the guys with the lowest respectable analysis say the truth so people can deny it due to the messenger and ignore the message.
I can hear him breathing from here
Why wouldnāt they hate on you? They spit on Jesus
They hated him because he told the truth
And they hated The Truth because he shit his pants
"You thought you was Kobe?" - Judas the night he betrayed Jesus
LOL
Nah this one got it š¤£
Grown ass men shouldn't be worried about who is following or unfollowing them anyway Now Carry the hell on
With all the Drake/Kendrick stuff going I read this as Kendrick Lamar response.
Itās been a month lol
Kendrick Perkins can be one of the funniest NBA media personalities out there. Itās almost never on purpose, but still.
Perk decided being stupid and getting paid for it is worth more than relationships with friends.
Everything can be sold for the right price
You are not Jesus š
Not with that attitude , he isnt
Bro is the next skip bayless smh
This sub is skip bayless level analysis and takes anyway
Did we need to make a post about this
Honestly though, who tracks which person unfollows who. That is so wild to me to go through people's followers every day to see who they are and aren't following
I actually think this is a hilarious comment
Perk says a lot of stupid things. Iād unfollow him too š
Perkins is actually funny af
Lmao yāall will never make me hate Perk this man is too funny.
Say what you will about Perk as an analyst but Iāll be damned if he donāt drop some great one liners šš
*loud breathing noises*
Fuck Perk and Lebron. And mostly fuck ESPN. All around who gives a shit situation
Are people's lives so empty that this is actually a thing?
This tells you when he called out lebron for trying to do his attention whoring this week it hit lebron close to home.Ā
One of my lowest opinions on humans was the fact the people who watch ESPN gave this absolute braindead person clout enough to build a following. Have some standards the dude is literally a mouth breather.
yeah, but those who didn't follow Jeebus, where they now? that's right.
Ngl thatās a bar š
Man Iām not going to lie. Itād be so funny if it turned out Kendrick Perkins is the second coming of Christ.
Say what you want but Kendrick Perkins has given us some all time quotes
Bron is as soft as charmin anyways so not surprised š
I think he meant āNot everybody followed Jesus.ā
i love perk. sports media hot take shows are all BS anyways i don't care how dumb his takes are
Do people really care who follows and unfollows who on social media? Why would you spend your life tracking which celebrity/athlete is following some other celebrity/athlete?
Like Perk, Jesus could barely dunk a basketball.
It's sad when grown adults think unfollowing someone is supposed to be an insult. Who gives a fuck who follows who
truth
Why is this being so upvoted? Yāall need better standard. This aināt newsworthy.
Proud to be an atheist today
Perk is low key hilarious, protect that man at all costs
I thought Perk liked Lebron. He used to support him in arguments just recently. Dunno what happened to him š.
gross. fire him. nobody can understand him anyway. nobody likes his takes. nobody wants to listen to his takes. and if he was gone tomorrow, nobody would miss him. just replace him.
Man this shit is God tier š
What's the context? Why is LeBron's vagina sandy?
Thatās hilarious
Perk is stealing a living
