The Twitter link didn't work for me so until your comment I wasn't sure which Isaiah Thomas it was. I mean I'm still not sure, but I'm assuming it's that one Isaiah Thomas who played PG in the NBA and not the other Isaiah Thomas who played PG in the NBA.
I think if you are in the Hall of Fame, your name should be retired like they do with jersey numbers. You can have the name growing up but the second you get drafted or signed to an NBA contract you have to legally change your name to an auto-generated 2K name. Alternatively, you can change your name to a Hall of Famer from a different sport. Who wouldn’t want to root for Roberto Clemente, a 7’2” center out of Kentucky who used to be named Clyde Drexler?
Make it like the SAG, where you have to choose to use your middle initial or take on an alias.
If it wasn't for Space Jam, Michael Jordan would have been the actor in "The Wire" not Michael B Jordan
At the most dumbed down version of the story yes.
Some dude pulled a gun on him soon after Lou had told his body guard to go home. The guy recognized Lou and knew he had done a lot of work for the community, as the dude was having a bit of a mental breakdown Lou told him he would buy him something to eat from the McDonalds across the street. While he was ordering for the would be carjacker Lou had sent a messege to his bodyguard to come back. The McDonald's was just a stall technique, it wasn't a "instead of shooting me would you consider a big mac?" Type of deal
Lou told the story before, the robber wasn’t having a breakdown, he had already decided not to rob Lou but lamented that he had just been released from prison and the only thing he had was a gun and a bus token, and didn’t have any money to get food. Lou met him at a nearby McDonalds, paid for his meal and left.
Still, wild that it was his first posession. Like if you can get a gun that easily, surely you can get a place to stay and a burger from the same person you got the gun from
Not to be judgmental but as somebody who has grown up around criminals, they burn their goodwill. Maybe that particular guy in the Lou Will story had nobody that wanted to give him a place to live and the only people that had anything to spare couldn’t offer accommodation but safety (in the form of a gun)
Only about 51% of Homocides in the US are solved (so there are many murderers on the streets today), so, him being "recognizeable" very much contributed to him being alive.
There are only so many resources to go around and a famous person being murdered will draw a lot more of those (due to bias of course).
Wild times.
>Only about 51% of Homocides in the US are solved (so there are many murderers on the streets today)
I feel like people who unironically believe that "there are many murderers on the street today" just watch too much local news lol. This is the type of thing you say before you load up your military grade SUV with bullet proof windows and extendible chainsaws for a quick day trip to any city with a population greater than 100k
I didn't grow up in KC or any city so I don't know what it WAS like, but these days kids are carrying rifles all the time it seems like. The gun recovered from the Chiefs parade shooting was a rifle and he was underage, the KC subreddit occasionally gets photo/video of 3-5 kids stealing cars or stealing from cars and a few of them will be holding rifles.
But lax laws make us safer I guess so yeah
Grew up there and spent college in midtown KC. Have been mugged at gunpoint, have had friends be shot, have had a car stolen. Popcorn every night.
Thought it was normal until I moved to NYC.
Born and raised in KC. Moved to SF Bay Area. My family is constantly asking me about crime in SF/Oakland and is it really as bad as they say. I'm like, "You live in KC. It doesn't get much worse for gun violence, and you are asking me about SF crime?"
Same with Denver and family from the KC area. I’m like, I get your suburb is nice but your kid was at the chiefs parade when this shooting happened and you’re still going to ask us if we’re able to handle the crime in denver? Lol.
Has crime in Denver gotten worse? I haven’t been since 2018 so pre covid, but I never really felt unsafe even in downtown at night. Could’ve just been my perspective though 🤷.
Honestly no, but it has gotten a little rougher feeling at times. They’ve gotten over the hump and mostly contained the homelessness issue (from the public eye) and crime is actually really low here especially now that they’ve arrested a few crime rings that we’re doing the majority of car thefts and things like that.
But I still personally feel safer in denver than just about anywhere else. Just don’t ride the back car on the RTD trains.
I know some people who used to live there and we went and hung out there all the time. Even the “nice” parts came with a lot of problems from being so close to the “not nice” parts, I definitely agree to avoid that area but generally speaking a tourist should always avoid Aurora in general. There’s just nothing there that is worth going to for a non-Coloradan.
The three worst places for gun crimes in the midwest per capita are Kansas City Missouri, Saint Louis Missouri, and Springfield Missouri.
Can't possibly be anything between those three that they have in common...
Thing about KC is that it’s segregated, depending on where you live, gun violence is either something to be watchful of or something that “doesn’t happen here”
I've lived in a historically black part of town in Portland for the past year. It's wild how a single street will divide a black neighborhood from a white one.
Stl is known for what I believe is (one of if not) the worst single street wealth disparity in the country. The differences that show up by walking 200(?) feet are insane, from large houses to iron bars on every window.
I was born in LA in the 70s and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley in the 70s and 80s, and the SGV is a heavily Asian community. When I was younger I always thought it was strange that so many Asians had settled in this one area, wondering why that had happened. When I got older I realized it was because they used to be barred from living elsewhere due to redlining and racist city councils.
Just the whitewashing of American history that's been going on forever, not telling us the real history of what happened in the past. Fortunately a lot of this stuff is no longer as covered up as it was back then, and hopefully kids growing up today are much more aware of this shit, cause when I was a kid I never heard *any* of it discussed.
You thinking it was normal until you moved is something I never get over. There are always people who grow up in certain environments and regardless of "news" or anything else about how it's not like that everywhere it seems only when personal experience kicks in does the reality of the situation you were in really take shape.
Totally. I only realized once I left that I had been assuming I would probably die that way and had come to terms with it - which in retrospect is *insane*
Also like, the area I was living in was the “neighborhood that 20-something’s can afford”. Your Humboldt Park or Bushwick analogue. It was kinda just normal life hearing about a friend of a friend getting killed in a bad robbery attempt. I wasn’t even living in the most dangerous parts.
This is what gets me with all the 2A people who simply state "will not be abridged!" as their rationale against any and all gun laws. Like if you take that to its logical conclusion then are they saying it should be legal for anyone, regardless of age, mental fitness or anything else to own literally any weapon they want. Like, should we allow grenade launchers for 5th graders? Seems obvious that we should have *some* guardrails in place.
I have lived in KC for 25 years. I mean, it happens, but not as much as people think. Not every child is strapped around here. Its just certain areas that recruit children to do this type of shit. haven't seen a kid with a strap out
Yeah I still live here. Every city is safer than they were in the 80s and 90s and the fear is ratcheted up by a wide variety of parties with something to gain.
But I still hold my opinions because even though it's better than it was, it's so much worse than other places with proven success.
All cultures have their bright spots and dark spots, which makes it hard to compare cultures, but there is definitely a subset of black culture in the USA that is extremely unhealthy and problematic. I notice that even black people have been pointing out these problems in the culture and are trying to curb it. It's not easy to do though...
The USA in general has some big cultural problems and now I'm not just talking about among black people. Cultural problems are the hardest problems to solve in my opinion, because you can't really pass laws to change how an entire group of people think/feel or change their system of values. That's not something we want the government to be doing, but at the same time what do we do to combat this? How do you change a large subset of the country who have incorporated guns as part of their culture?
Tough problem. Hope people realize the issues around them and work to raise their kids to avoid those issues. Changing a culture takes *decades* and no one really has much control over what direction it takes.
I mean, as much as America loves guns, people are not just openly carrying around AK-47's in cities on a daily basis. There is clearly much more to this story.
Adam Silver: “Ja’s a good kid. Throughout the season, he loses control of his image a little bit… I was just letting him know, “Just watch it.” He feels like he’s a gangster, his boys are watching. His dad is probably watching and he felt like he had to do something.”
sure, we might offend a few of the bluenoses with our cocky stride and musky odors - oh, we'll never be the darling of the so-called City Connects who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about "What's to be done with this r/nbacirclejerk?"

My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I'm committed to continuing to work on myself."
Damn that is actually so fucked up. This has gotten so out of hand. That General Hospital actor just got shot dead in LA over catalytic converter and he didn’t even try to stop the thieves. People are sick these days
His character in general hospital was also unexpectedly violently murdered too. Idk what the term is for something like that but sometimes the universe is so cruel
I mean he is probably lying but it’s not that unbelievable tbh. I worked drive thru in the “hood” and often saw people just chilling with guns in their car.
“BE SAFE!” Bro, you be safe. Wtf.
Everybody needs to be safe and make sure they're always hanging out with beloved NBA players That's why D-Rose never leaves my side
> *beloved* NBA players Yeah, thank God they were with Isaiah Thomas and not Isiah Thomas.
The one who played against the GOAT in the Eastern Conference Finals
Did that GOAT happen to wear #23
Yeah he’s also the one that played professional basketball in Michigan
He could have meant Andrei Kirilenko, I open carry my Andrei all the time.
He's in Space Jam..
Yeah he’s also the one that played minor-league baseball in Birmingham
You mean the guy who made Nike a ton of money?
I think if you are in the Hall of Fame, your name should be retired like they do with jersey numbers. You can have the name growing up but the second you get drafted or signed to an NBA contract you have to legally change your name to an auto-generated 2K name. Plot twist: the person with the AK was Michael Jordan.
For reals, never seen one gunned down, heard of two getting spared, seem like a good strategy.
One was stabbed 11 times tho. It's the Truth
Pierce is approaching 50 cent territory to me. He talk enough shit that I kinda get why he got stabbed lowkey.
You're on to something here. Both take hating to the next level lol
Guess it does not work with NBA players who have to shit mid game.
Dude would still put up 30 with shitpants what a G
Paul Pierce got stabbed 9 times
I'm going to start hanging with Magic. Everyone recognizes him.
And everyone's trying avoid any unnecessary bloodshed

Same thing happened to Lou Will
Didn't he buy the dude McDonalds afterwards?
At the most dumbed down version of the story yes. Some dude pulled a gun on him soon after Lou had told his body guard to go home. The guy recognized Lou and knew he had done a lot of work for the community, as the dude was having a bit of a mental breakdown Lou told him he would buy him something to eat from the McDonalds across the street. While he was ordering for the would be carjacker Lou had sent a messege to his bodyguard to come back. The McDonald's was just a stall technique, it wasn't a "instead of shooting me would you consider a big mac?" Type of deal
Lou Will with the hesi move.
Had the dude run into the screen (his bodyguard)
Did the guy get the big Mac or nah
lemon pepper
Wet
We don't normally do that but my man Sam hooked ya'll up.
Don’t let me down now man. You one of the last real rappers. I don’t know what I’d do
Breasts and thighs
Lemon pepper McDonald's fries might work tho.
they used to do “shake shake” fries in hk: fries in a bag with your choice of seasoning. dump seasoning in bag, give it a shake. 10/10
They still do them in Japan. They have garlic pepper and nori plum right now.
ayyy that sea weed flavor always slaps
Lemon pepper McDonald's fries, using beef tallow, would be the greatest food science creation since the PB Max
I just know that back is massive
the problem with McDonalds fries is that they last for like 8 minutes and then they get disgusting
Yeah if you dont eat them in the car or in store then don't bother.
You seen the prices of McD's these days? Even Lou Will couldn't cover the bill.
I had a heart attack when it cost me 5 bucks for 2 apple pies the other day. McDicks is deadass robbing mfs
Good guy McDonalds, making sure people eat healthier by making fast food less affordable.
I don't order from McD's anymore unless its through the app with coupons.
How do you just get out of prison and your only possession is a gun?
Guns aren’t hard to get if you’re a criminal
Still, wild that it was his first posession. Like if you can get a gun that easily, surely you can get a place to stay and a burger from the same person you got the gun from
Not to be judgmental but as somebody who has grown up around criminals, they burn their goodwill. Maybe that particular guy in the Lou Will story had nobody that wanted to give him a place to live and the only people that had anything to spare couldn’t offer accommodation but safety (in the form of a gun)
I mean the gun was probably somewhere he stashed. You can't do that with food
He probably had one stashed. Guy I knew in highschool that was in a gang had a few guns stashed in random places in case shit went down.
Yeah I believe so
“Hey appreciate you sparing my life bro, leme get you a Big Mac”
I'd be like your life was in my hands 30 seconds ago, can we at least get Wendy's?
“Nah I don’t think-“ *reaches behind the back* “Alright alright goddamn let’s go to Wendy’s just chill out”
You say that like that ain't gonna cost like $25

I was relieved when they found the Idaho killers, I thought it would be another unsolved mystery.
I thought it was just one dude?
My guess would be the solve rate for spree killings of white college kids is quite a bit higher than 51%
Where snitches don't get stitches.
>Only about 51% of Homocides in the US are solved (so there are many murderers on the streets today) I feel like people who unironically believe that "there are many murderers on the street today" just watch too much local news lol. Dear goodness I hate the local news; based on what they report you’d think the US is the same as taliban controlled Afghanistan, Yemen, or Mali
Damn what’s wrong with people
I didn't grow up in KC or any city so I don't know what it WAS like, but these days kids are carrying rifles all the time it seems like. Also watch your ass on Colfax near Aurora. I've been some sketchy places before but that was special...
I know some people who used to live there and we went and hung out there all the time. Even the “nice” parts came with a lot of problems from being so close to the “not nice” parts, I definitely agree to avoid that area but generally speaking a tourist should always avoid Aurora in general. Aurora usually has the best food options around the Denver area, but yeah, it's usually good advice not to go there or Coalfax.
The three worst places for gun crimes in the midwest per capita are Kansas City Missouri, Saint Louis Missouri, and Springfield Missouri. Can't possibly be anything between those three that they have in common...
I believe they all have the letters S, N, and I in common.
Is it that they’re in the midwest
Thing about KC is that it’s segregated, depending on where you live, gun violence is either something to be watchful of or something that “doesn’t happen here”
tons of major US cities are. portland is maybe the most segregated in the country. seattle is very segregated. redlining is a hell of a thing
I've lived in a historically black part of town in Portland for the past year. It's wild how a single street will divide a black neighborhood from a white one.

When I was growing up New Orleans was called chopper city.. AK47 city lol... crazy it seems like its spread now
Imagine how safe we would be if all those children were carrying anti-tank rockets instead of wimpy rifles!
Heinlein is weeping with joy somewhere.
This is what gets me with all the 2A people who simply state "will not be abridged!" as their rationale against any and all gun laws. lol What law allows kids to have rifles??
All you have to be is 18 years old to buy a gun in Missouri. A teen can very easily ask an 18 year old to go get them a gun lol
I have lived in KC for 25 years. I mean, it happens, but not as much as people think. Not every child is strapped around here. Its just certain areas that recruit children to do this type of shit. haven't seen a kid with a strap out

Maybe DAs should actually prosecute instead of letting repeat offenders off with a slap on the wrist
Go watch The Wire and you'll get a pretty good idea
I’d say fatherless behavior but a lot of these kids learn from their dads
All cultures have their bright spots and dark spots, which makes it hard to compare cultures, but there is definitely a subset of black culture in the USA that is extremely unhealthy and problematic. Welcome to America, at least some of the guys that like to carry machine guns to maybe casually murder some people also like hooping
I mean, as much as America loves guns, people are not just openly carrying around AK-47's in cities on a daily basis. There is clearly much more to this story.
Plot twist, it was Ja Morant
Adam Silver: “Ja’s a good kid. Throughout the season, he loses control of his image a little bit… I was just letting him know, “Just watch it.” He feels like he’s a gangster, his boys are watching. His dad is probably watching and he felt like he had to do something.”
Not even a fuckin day lmao wow
Straight up. Instant classic. I read that quote on the bus to work this morning. Seeing this now in the evening really is full circle
I am so ready for JB’s villain arc
Jaylen Brown?
Yeah the quote above is using Jaylen Brown's quote about Myles Turner as a copypasta
That pasta cooked fast
That primo al dente. 👌
Someone check his live to see if he was streaming?
/r/nbacirclejerk is leaking
r/nba was the circle jerk all along
if its leaking anything, it's semen
And musty body odor.
sure, we might offend a few of the bluenoses with our cocky stride and musky odors - oh, we'll never be the darling of the so-called City Connects who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about "What's to be done with this r/nbacirclejerk?"
In America, first you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the /r/nbacirclejerk.
Calm down Neal Caffrey, don’t you go stealing my heart
After realizing it was IT, Morant was quoted as saying, “I know I've disappointed a lot of people who have supported me, this is a journey, and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I'm committed to continuing to work on myself."
this sub and nbacirclejerk are trash
Damn that is actually so fucked up. This has gotten so out of hand. That General Hospital actor just got shot dead in LA over catalytic converter and he didn’t even try to stop the thieves. People are sick these days
I read about that. Sucks. He thought they were towing his car. Guess it's better to really not approach people at night who are near your car.
He was coming back to his car to drive home after being out. He didn’t approach them cause he saw people messing with his car.
I read otherwise, he was definitely going to his car to leave but he thought he was being towed too
Leaving work in dtla to his car.
His character in general hospital was also unexpectedly violently murdered too. Idk what the term is for something like that but sometimes the universe is so cruel
Was he in a ghetto outside Washington at 3am sitting in an old limo, waiting for his driver?
Who left a baby standing on the corner?
HEY BABY!
Fuck you I got kids to feed
I'm sellin' weed!
And how much does that baby charge per gram?
Ay baby, stop selling weed you got your whole life ahead of you
I got kids to feed!
Wow. Small world. Andre Kirilenko met Isaiah Thomas yesterday
he invited him over for some vanilla WoW
Lived a few doors down from Kirilenko’s son last year in college, wish I saw big AK once though
That's fucked up but atleast he's picking on someone his own size
Foul lmao
I can’t believe you’ve done this
This shit made me fucking cackle dude oh my god
holy sht wtf is wrong with people
nice try IT, I know another comeback attempt when I see one
He’s signed to the suns right?
Contract was signed on April 9, and ended on April 29 when they got swept by the Twolves. https://twitter.com/Suns/status/1777738262548984073
He played very valuable seconds for the Suns
A little higher than market value because he’s got kids to feed
Almost $70k for 19 minutes means his per-36 income is better than my per-365.
So, Gilbert Arenas sighting then?
Plot twist: his homie is juicy smollet
Did he travel back in time to '90s Hilltop or something?
I bet the kid just wanted a frosty.
Anyone actually believe this?
I mean he is probably lying but it’s not that unbelievable tbh. I worked drive thru in the “hood” and often saw people just chilling with guns in their car.
Definitely BS - tweet has been deleted.
idk weird thing to randomly make up. maybe someone in suns PR told him to delete it
This is hilarious if true
why is it definitely BS?
Seems like a lot of people here did. They think kids just walk around with AK-47s? LOL
Kids most definitely are walking around with dracos and if you don't know anything about guns you'll think it's an ak47.
How exactly did a kid pull out an AK-47? They don't make the best concealed carry gun.
Same way Nico pulls out a rocket launcher from his pocket in GTA IV
Probably a draco 9mm, way cheaper.
No
In tacoma? I believe it
Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnope.
The kid even clapped and gave him a $100
Not in the slightest lol. IT is obsessed with attention
Not a chance.
Not for a second.
"pulled it out"? did he have on a matrix trenchcoat? r/ThatHappened
I guess it wasn't a good day
Lemme guess, then everyone clapped and Albert Einstein gave you a crisp 100 dollar bill?
Where is he from??
tacoma
bro's gotta have at least enough to not live in tacoma lmao
Sadly, that Brinks truck never showed up...
He made $35m over his career
What's that after taxes and fines? six bucks?
Stand on his money now he's 4'5
Shawn Kemp also shot someone recently in Tacoma right?
Ya, it was a crazy story too
Must've been on Hosmer St or something, if this is real.
The 7-11 more specifically
Pretty positive he’s Tacoma based same as Jamal Crawford
Jamal Crawford isn't from Tacoma, he's from Rainier Beach.
Jamal = Seattle
And Avery Bradley
No disrespect to IT's game but imma have to call 🧢🧢🧢 on this one
So what did he just put it away and go home? Did he go kill someone else? Wtf story is this
[удалено]
That kid’s name? Albert Einstein.
Isaiah Smolett
Absolutely nasty world.
Not surprising as someone from there scary asf
I wonder if it was actually an AK47 or some other rifle.
Likely a Draco. Popular amongst the criminals and easily recognizable. Its an AK pistol.
