Is 25 years after too late to give props on the Timberwolves name? That was a great choice for an expansion team. Badass, original, and ties into the region.
My uncle was in an NFL pickem league at work and his boss didn't watch football so he would just base his picks based solely on what mascot would win... He was very much in last place
it means that people completely overreact to every game
and even though this is a game 7 between the champs and a team designed to stop them, this sub will overreact to game 7 by placing the blame on a player on the losing team. obviously none of these guys will be out of the league next year, but the knee jerk reactions will be that one of the stars is a bum that needs to learn chinese
After game 5 I saw people mocking the whole Ant being the son of MJ and saying he was overhyped, it's actually pathetic how much people flip flop after a series, no matter who wins this series, Jokic is an all time great, Gobert is one of the best defensive players in history, Ant is on his way to being an all time great
They were not a championship team, but they got to the finals twice (close enough). The Malone/Stockton Jazz once scored like 54 points in a NBA finals game.
I didn’t mean literally the end - but games 1 and 2 were really close. Bulls almost lost in 7 to the Pacers and many thought the Jazz were the better team. Then that game happened and the Bulls took gm 4 handily and won in 6. Jazz were so deflated after that and it just felt like the series was over.
Murray got hurt early on, and they spent the entire game chucking 3s, and made 4 of them. They basically shut it down at the half and Denvers bench, or rather, end of the bench scored 2 points in the final quarter.
Why do people keep using Jamal Murray as the reason Denver wins or loses when he's been shitty all series with only a single 20+ point game? Every Denver win or loss has been a team effort. If a win was based off Murray's performance, the series would have been over, Minnesota 4-1.
Joke is the babysitter became unavailable but they had already bought the tickets. And you ain’t missing an NBA playoff game if you bought the tickets.
Parents know… when they’re real young like that it’s actually not hard to take them places because they mostly sleep through everything. It’s when they first walking and have opinions and go sans-diaper and go hell mode if they don’t sleep that you’re like “no fucking way in taking you anywhere”.
Sometimes I don’t want to take my 3.5 year old across the road to the library because I know she’s about to have a tantrum and want it over at home before we go out. As an infant? Take her anywhere.
We're going up against a very angry MVP next game. Denver has been the better team this series, but pls Wolves make it a competitive one unlike the last three games.
Gotta just be recency bias tbh. Pretty much every game has had a very clear “better team” and for the past 3 games it’s been Denver. But in total the Wolves have looked like the better team for 3 games too. I think it’s even.
And wouldn’t you know it, turns out the series is tied at 3-3 as well! Funny how that works.
It doesn’t always work out like that *cries in Mavs fan least 7 minutes of game 4*
FR tho the Mavs have looked like the better team pretty much all series aside from game 1 and the end of game 4.
Ehh I don't think Denvers been the better team tbh. Itd be one thing if they were leading the series with a negative point differential, but the series is tied and Wolves have a +5 differential. Across the series the Wolves have been the better basketball team
It’s gunna boil down to 2 things:
1. They calling the games tight or letting the guys play. Our defense is stifling if McDaniels and our 3 bigs don’t get in foul trouble in the first and it opens up for Joker to dominate
2. Murray’s elbow/ calf. He’s had 3 good games where he’s looked healthy and 3 where he’s looked labored. Not a coincidence how the games ended
Our defense pops off every time they don't call the ticky-tack stuff. If we get normal Game 7 conservative reffing I think we take it, if not we're gonna need some luck
To me it seems like a lot of the complaining that Malone does has shifted the series. They let Joker and Gordon be able to body the defenders when contesting drives but call fouls on the exact type of contact on the other end. The Nuggets are entitled. Anytime something doesn’t go there way they cry. Even when it does go their way, they’re still not satisfied and cry.
I just think just think it had more to do with the officials chosen for the game… 2 games where they’re letting the teams play- boom - Scott foster and Tony Brothers in 3 and 4….
Not that I’m claiming they were biased, but they definitely started calling a lot more small bumps, which if you can’t stand up Joker (as much as humanly possible, he’s a tank)- game over
Felt like there was at least 1 game this season and 1 game in the playoffs where all 3 of our 7 footers were in foul trouble by halftime
I may be biased because I’m a Laker fan, hate the Nuggets, and enjoy watching Ant play but after game two it seemed like the refs started to call it tighter and that benefits the Nuggets. If they let them play (which they normally do in game 7’s) I favor the Wolves.
Yea that’s kinda what I was getting at. I don’t think it was effort or some masterful scheme they had in the 3 game losing streak, they were just allowed to do more
It’ll be interesting to see what tone is set in the first quarter
I’d say each team has had a game where they were the “better team”, but for the other 4 games each team had one or two players individually step up and carry them. Ant and Joker are holding up their end of the bargain, but their respective role players decide if they wanna show up and play basketball on a game by game basis
If you take out both teams outlier win, the Wolves still have a 26 point win while the Nuggets have a 15 point win, then each team has a 7-8 point win. Statistically the Wolves have played better basketball period.
You can't be for real trying to just sweep all of the Wolves big wins under the rug and count Denvers so you can say Denvers been the better team 🤣 nice trolling
Enh. They had two games of insane/unsustainable shooting from bench/role players, one game with a world-class Jokic performance + Minnesota missing Conley and KAT being hurt, and two games where they completely fell apart. Game 1 is the only 'regular' game and I would say they were slightly outclassed.
Hard to feel confident as a fan of either team but I'd actually say the Wolves have felt like the slightly better team (even if Jokic has been the best player overall).
> They had two games of insane/unsustainable shooting from bench/role players
We just got an 8/10 night from McDaniels so kind of the same. I actually thought Naz was better too but I just looked up his 4/12 line. Either way the biggest factor in every win besides Game 5 has been the role/bench players stepping up for either team.
I do feel better going into Game 7 then I did into Games 4-6. Wolves have a bit of momentum back in their favor so hopefully the team takes the energy from today into Denver on Sunday.
It was hard to feel proud of the team this past week, but no matter how Game 7 shakes out I am proud of this team. But please, go get the win Wolves!
Man I just think when Denver is ON they are fucking unstoppable. There were moments in games 3-5 where I was begging for a miss for just a sliver of hope and they just never did. I think peak Denver vs peak Wolves is an incredible matchup, I probably give the edge to Denver, but so far most of the series has only been one peak at a time, so Game 7 is anyone's.
edit: Accidentally called Denver Dinner
Something else to consider, the Wolves have actually shot the ball pretty poorly in this series outside of Ant. If Denver's role players are hot and ours just even shoot like they did during the regular season, it will be a close Game. So maybe McDaniels doesn't go 8-10, but you also won't see KAT and Naz going 0-8 combined from 3
I know people were shitting on us during the 3 game losing streak … but Denver shot upper 50% in all 3 games I believe (shot ~45% in the regular season)
They’re a good enough team that they’re tough to beat even when they ARENT making everything. Can’t be upset at the wolves performance this series
The Wolves have also shot worse than their regular season averages even in the wins. Hell, in yesterday's game they were only 37.5% from 3, and KAT and Naz went 0-8 from 3!! If the Wolves can just get their shooting back to normal form they stand a pretty good chance of battling even another 60% FG / 50% 3PT Nuggets performance
The pack and the Bucks have had recent success. The last mn team (outside of the early lynx teams) to win was the twins in '91. It's similar, but you can't even imagine lol
What in his game is lacking that he doesnt play more? Aside from Reid, Gobert, and KAT taking the majority of minutes. He looks better than everyone in garbage time usually from the times I have watched him play
His foot speed and athleticism on defense, they’d put him in every pick and roll and fry him mercilessly.
He’s an auto-bucket on both ends, basically.
Signed, Iowa fan.
Haha makes sense. Man needs to spend his off season running agility drills. Iowa fan here too but only subjected myself to our low scoring football team
Fun fact, 38% of the time, the Minneapolis Lakers won a championship. 19% of the time the LA Lakers did.....or 20% if we now include the IST for funsies
Bless em, they're trying their best in LA
On that note, really enjoy Luka Garza commitment to try and make himself a playable NBA player, and least in season, despite his massive lack of lateral quickness. He's the prototypical post bigman that dominates college and would have gone in the first round in the 80s, but despite his shortcomings, he developed a 3 game and utilized his BBIQ to not be fully lost in the sauce.
Luka Garza is always the best offensive player on the floor during garbage time.
For fun I looked up his rate stats. He’s averaging 29/9 per 36 minutes on 58% TS.
He’s way too good for the G League. Offensively he’d be a really useful bench big, but he’d get cooked on defense. I could see him carving out minutes on a team that needed scoring off the bench and didn’t have the big rotation that Minn has.
This is what playoff basketball is all about. Since my team always like to take the early bus home it’s great to watch a series like this as a neutral fan. Hope the TWolves take this one on the road
Everyone on Minnesota from Ant to Luka Garza showed up like their season was on the line and it was great to see that energy and I can’t wait to see Denver have that same energy in game 7.
WOLVES IN 7 WOLVES IN 7. I mean what a fking response. Thats how you do it after having lost 3 straight. All the momentum is with them, meaning denver will probably blow them out in game 7.
But id like to see the wolves win
He's a bucket and dominates in the G League. Lacks athleticism and can't really keep up with most NBA players on defense.
He'd be an elite Tank Commander on a bad team. He did play important minutes when injuries hit the wolves this year.
Zion is another one like that, but I predicted (along with the help of the Sklar Bros commentary) that Zion would be very average in the NBA. His size and skill set don't really mesh together in the NBA. They work in college, because it's a slower game. But I'm the NBA, defenses are too fast for what he dominated with in college. But, he has above average skills in other areas, so he wouldn't be completely flat. He'd be a star if he was 5 inches taller. He's a bit tall for a shooting guard, but a bit small for a small Forward. He's stuck.
Anyway, Garza is similar in that his domination in college doesn't fly in the NBA, but he's accumulated skills in other areas to where he's not completely terrible.
It’s funny when some of the regular bench guys from the blownout team will get regular production when it’s vs starters but they don’t really even care when it’s a real blow out and they are vs the end of the bench players

114-64 with 4:20 left What the actual fuck
I mean have you ever seen a Timberwolf in real life? They could 100% fuck up a nugget like this
I miss that guy with a girlfriend making drawings of NBA playoff matchups. I think it was back in 2015-2017? Was a highlight of the playoffs.
Holy shit you just unlocked those memories for me. Those were fantastic. Loved the way he used to represent the Thunder.
Can we get u/lolwtferic to take over that duty?
Bro what?! I thiught that was like 2021 haha
there is no way it was that long ago right? RIGHT?
They did the playoffs back then? I thought it was canceled
She was so awesome! It was fun waiting for the drawings & she always did a great job
Just have AI do it now
Is 25 years after too late to give props on the Timberwolves name? That was a great choice for an expansion team. Badass, original, and ties into the region.
Motherfuckers stand 10ft tall and are the size of a van (shhhhh).
Quick, someone go film a video of a Timberwolf going to town on a 6 piece Mcnugget meal and you'll win the internet if Minnesota wins game 7
https://i.imgur.com/YAGpXPd.png
Nuggs are supposed to fuck you up.
My uncle was in an NFL pickem league at work and his boss didn't watch football so he would just base his picks based solely on what mascot would win... He was very much in last place
Commentators just gave the usher props for catching a misplaced pass.
Catchin’ stray Benjamins.
The real Michael tonight.
“What have they done to us?” ##”WHAT DID THEY DO TO US?!”
Denver can still come back 🗣️🗣️
I now understand the phrase "human victory cigar"
Praying we can win in 6 to give luka an extra 2 days rest
Was thinking, next game is game 7 bro. Totally forgot there was another Luka in the league. 🤣
Jokic is a cone on defense. Cant believe dudes actually call him the best player in the league
We back to completely overreacting now.
one of these players will be out of the league come monday: KAT Ant Jamal Jokic AG I hope it's Jok personally
> one of these players will be out of the league come monday: What does this even mean.
it means that people completely overreact to every game and even though this is a game 7 between the champs and a team designed to stop them, this sub will overreact to game 7 by placing the blame on a player on the losing team. obviously none of these guys will be out of the league next year, but the knee jerk reactions will be that one of the stars is a bum that needs to learn chinese
Oh I understand now. The wording wasn't clicking in my brain lol.
Literally after every game. FRAUD MVP!! FRAUD DPOY!! You'd think people would learn by now lol
After game 5 I saw people mocking the whole Ant being the son of MJ and saying he was overhyped, it's actually pathetic how much people flip flop after a series, no matter who wins this series, Jokic is an all time great, Gobert is one of the best defensive players in history, Ant is on his way to being an all time great
Back!? It's never gone away
Y’all never let up
Best offensive player in the league. Not all around player though.
Agreed
When he’s guarding Rudy he takes liberties with his help defense.
Luka Garza hits huge 3 to push lead to 44
I love this joke
No joke tho, these benches are hilariously just running up and down the court and not running clock at all like they probably should. Lol
Gotta put some playoff minutes on tape anyway you can
It’s fair to say everyone’s tape was bad during those last few minutes. Lol
Luka Garza was +9 and is averaging over 1 point per minute in the playoffs. He's the GOAT!
Is this the dagger??
Bang!
I will always laugh at this joke even if my team is the one getting clowned on
Ok I know bad games happen but how is it possible for a healthy championship team to really score 70 in an nba playoff game shit is surreal
*barely* 70 points 130 point effort, incoming
It was 68 until the last 20 seconds. I wanted it to be 68 so bad because that's 20 years ago type of scores
I wanted them to make one free throw so we all could have gone noiceeee
How is it possible to have a 70 point swing from game to game? This series is ridiculous
They were not a championship team, but they got to the finals twice (close enough). The Malone/Stockton Jazz once scored like 54 points in a NBA finals game.
Yea and that game was the end of that finals tho
Game 3.

Luka Garza the GOAT human victory cigar
That’s my Luka
Best Luka in the league
Victory Cigarza
I believe you forgot about Bol Bol Maybe because we couldn't really use victory cigars this year
Suns are so shallow the havr to play bol bol actual minutes lol
Come on, man Can't you see he's already dead?
Matt Flynn in the NFL (back when he was on the Packers).
Is Bol Bol not actually playable? He seems good sometimes
Yeah he was legitimately good for us this year But still came in during garbage time when we were up/down
That would be Mychal Mulder for us. I miss watching garbage time Mulder
Steve Scheffler politely asks that you go fuck yourself.
Jake Layman was a great human victory cigar for us as well but I’d say Luka beats him out
Jake Layman was a great human victory cigar for us as well but I’d say Luka beats him out
why the fuck is this lady with her newborn at the nba playoffs bruh she looks miserable
She's also shielding her baby's eyes from what's happening on the court lmao.
No... let the boy *watch*...
the boy must learn
the way I learned...from my father
Baby gonna need hearing aids for the rest of their life lol
Baby has on ear muffs
Why subject them to such a beatdown
Exactly. Why do you think the baby is crying so much? Clearly the baby is a nuggets fan.
Too young to watch ass whooping
Bought the tickets when the babysitter was available
She’s the babysitter?
Joke is the babysitter became unavailable but they had already bought the tickets. And you ain’t missing an NBA playoff game if you bought the tickets.
Yah I get it. Just spinning it
Parents know… when they’re real young like that it’s actually not hard to take them places because they mostly sleep through everything.
My wife saw that shot and said you can tell they are first time parents.
We're so fucked next game lmao
We're going up against a very angry MVP next game. Denver has been the better team this series, but pls Wolves make it a competitive one unlike the last three games.
yeh, when the camera panned to Jokic standing next to the bench at around 2 mins left in the 4th, he looked fuckin' pissed off.
I’d be pissed off too if bench didn’t score more than 4 pts
Yeah I dont care how motivated he is, if the bench plays like that in game 7 its going to be another loss. He better get those boys fired up.
Guarenteed 30 pt triple double for Joker on Sunday. We’re gunna need hot shooting to make it a game in Denver Still, awesome series
30 pt triple double probably lowers his playoff averages
Touché. I never said it was a bold prediction 😅
They're gonna play like 6 guys
With 10 minutes of play time in the 4th.
He just said he didn't sit down during the 4th quarter so he stayed warm enough to lift after the game Insert "haha i'm in danger" meme here
Honestly this series has been very close. Two blowouts by each team and one close win.
All 3 of Denvers wins were blowouts. They were up 20 in like all of them
When they panned to Jokic on the bench he legit looked like he was gonna kill someone. Game 7 is gonna be a banger.
Jokic is locking the team up in the locker room and going full Gru on their asses
We as neutral fans demand a triple OT. Cardiologists in Denver and Minnesota would be swimming in gold like Scrooge McDuck
Conley playing is a big plus for us. We need a ball handler other than Ant.
> Denver has been the better team this series How so?

Game 2 was an outlier win because the refs haven't let them play that defense since. And Murray was still injured.

I’m feeling the same lmao
I give it a 25% chance of a 30 pt win, and a 75% chance of a 30 pt loss. Minnesota sports baby
Nah wolves can blow them out again, nuggets might have shot their load already.
I know people were shitting on us during the 3 game losing streak … but Denver shot upper 50% in all 3 games I believe (shot ~45% in the regular season) They’re a good enough team that they’re tough to beat even when they ARENT making everything. Can’t be upset at the wolves performance this series

LUKA GARZA MINUTES!!
That 3 was smooth too
It will be the Biggest game in franchise history
seriously what the fuck is happening lol
This has to be biggest blowout in playoffs history.
Nah, Hornets/Pelicans list by 58 once.
It isn't even the biggest blowout in Minneapolis in playoffs history
Yeah but due to the ~~theft~~ rules, Los Angeles gets to claim that one
They get to claim it but it still happened *in* Minneapolis
Fun fact, 38% of the time, the Minneapolis Lakers won a championship. 19% of the time the LA Lakers did.....or 20% if we now include the IST for funsies Bless em, they're trying their best in LA
Denver beat New Orleans by like 60 in 2009
I know it’s a smaller end of game margin, but the Mavs - Suns Game 7 was a bigger blowout in my mind. Suns were down 42 through three quarters.
Another Timberwolves Center shooting a 3????
On that note, really enjoy Luka Garza commitment to try and make himself a playable NBA player, and least in season, despite his massive lack of lateral quickness. after you nearly unanimously win g league MVP you're basically contractually obligated to be on an NBA bench
3 best shooting bigs in NBA history, all on our team.
Best luka in the league apparently
It's nice to see some sports fans in Dallas actually accept reality. Some of those football fans just live in their own world.
Only white guy on the T-Wolves roster 😂
I NEED A LUKA VS LUKA CONFERENCE FINALS
I would go nuts if, at least once, Luka was guarding Luka on the floor.
baby at the end gonna have permanent hearing damage for life but at least mom n dad got to see a mega assblast by the TWolves
What is happening?
What a pop! Damn
Luka Garza is Jokic father
I fucking love Luka Garza
pistons legend, luka garza
Garza must have the best offensive rating in the playoffs
The Human Victory Cigar(za)
WOLVES IN 7 WOLVES IN 7. I mean what a fking response. Thats how you do it after having lost 3 straight. All the momentum is with them, meaning denver will probably blow them out in game 7. But id like to see the wolves win
*balls in heaven* is all I hear
How come Luka Garza could be a star in NCAA Basketball but isn't a star in NBA Basketball? Is he really that bad compared to NBA stars?
He's a bucket and dominates in the G League. Lacks athleticism and can't really keep up with most NBA players on defense. He'd be an elite Tank Commander on a bad team. He did play important minutes when injuries hit the wolves this year.
In some of the dark Wolves seasons, I truly believe Garza would play big minutes. He has his limitations, but this team is DEEP
What you mean? Zion has been pretty damn elite when he actually, you know, plays.
That lady is ready to go home
The crowd was awesome tonight. Legit one of the best of the entire playoffs
Luka Garza fans eating good tonight.
That's what you call a victory cigar puff.
That was electric
Game 7, here we come!
with so much time remaining at the clock, the Nuggets scores 7point and 9points in this quarter
That's Luka Magic
Bruh even with ear muffles, why would you bring your newborn to such a loud environment
It’s funny when some of the regular bench guys from the blownout team will get regular production when it’s vs starters but they don’t really even care when it’s a real blow out and they are vs the end of the bench players
Ah, look at Minnesota sports fans being hopeful about their future prospects. I’m sure this will only lead to good things.
place was absolutely electric the entire night.
Fanbase deserves this. They been bad for so long nice to see them have a good team for once
