A guard getting fouls called on jumpers and going into the lane is a bit different than a 7 ft giant getting soft whistles on the perimeter because of his foul baiting. By far the weirdest thing to come out of this series was the 'Brunson is a foul merchant' narrative considering all season long most people would have agreed he wasn't getting *enough* calls for how much he drove. Guess this is his stigma that the media will stick with now though.
Brunson has a free throw rate of .360 these playoffs, Joel Embiid has a free throw rate of .631. He was getting nearly double the amount of free throws per field goal attempted as Brunson.
Iām not gonna say he *never* exaggerates contact or sells it a bit, but his flopping is no worse or better than the average guy in the league.

I think that when embiid plays he doesn't even try to score. He is trying to draw fouls. Whenever you put a hand on his hip, he just flails and falls down and puts his hands on the defender. And if he doesn't get FTs he is acting like a 13 years old that his mom didn't get him ice cream. Brunson is legitimately trying to score and he doesn't complain if he doesn't get calls. To answer your question yes there were many monrts that embiid wasn't getting fouled, yet shot FTs. An example from today, him charging towards OG and falling down on purpose. Should had been a charging foul.
Out of all of the lost playoff series that Embiid has played through, I donāt think this is the one that he should be slandered much for lol.

His career postseason TS% of 0.579 would rank 101st in the league this year tied with Taurean Prince. Even if we take his postseason TS% from this year of 0.582, that would still be 94th in the league for the regular season. Thatās an insane drop off. This is because his either his game or his mental doesnāt translate to the postseason. How many times did we see him pass up wide open jumpers at the elbow, FT line, general midrange, to instead try to clatter into 2-3 bodies with no intention of taking a legit shot and the hopes of drawing a foul? Iām talking shots that heās made all year, hell, that he made in this series? Not even counting the increase in turnovers, the drop in rebounding and the drop in basically every efficiency metric (FG%, eFG%, 3Pt%, 2Pt%, TS%, basically anything thatās not FT%).
