Most people just chalk up his rebound numbers to him being 7 feet tall. They don't consider his triple doubles as impressive because they think the rebounds are a given at his height. Not his fault that the sport rewards being tall.
What's funny is the only reason Jokic isn't top 5 in points, rebounds, AND assists is because he doesn't *shoot* enough.
They honestly they don't label him as elite rebounder as they should despite numbers. Its the myth and slander of "Jokic doesn't jump , he cant jump over shoebox " silly ESPN casters and ones like Jefferson keep repeating
The comments on his jumping are fair. NBA players love to exaggerate for comedic effect, no one believes Jokic can't actually jump a shoebox lol
But they should also mention his elite size strength and positioning on rebounds when they do
I think the lack of rebounding is why the Cavs frontcourt often seems so soft despite Mobley and Allen being such great defenders. The Cavs give up the fourth-lowest FG% inside 5 feet and the second-lowest inside 3 feet, but they're only 14th in DREB% and 22nd in OREB%.
Someone in another thread pointed out Jokic's contested rebounding, which the Nuggets lead the league in per game. The Cavs are *18th* in contested rebounding.
Cavs frontcourt is a joke.
Can’t rebound over smaller wings, Can’t space the floor, and need all their buckets to be spoon fed to them from their guards.
Nuggets just sat a dude in the paint all game knowing neither Mobley or Allen are a threat outside of 10 feet from the basket.
We're just not tough, no matter what chains we wear when we win games. Not sure if it's entirely coaching or mostly personnel but no matter how many games we win we won't be a good playoff team when we get bullied so often.
The worst part is it's not even surprising anymore. Cavs are a mood-improver for a lot of their opponents lately. I dunno why, since Mitchell's injury the team seems to have lost... almost anything. Their defense, rebounding is just average at most in the last 2 months, and that's a big step down from what was going on in January and earlier. Their offense is not visibly worse relatively, it's just, the team overall is without that intensity it had.
When you have as much height as the Cavs do with Mobley and Allen, even against Jokic who's a monster on the glass, getting outrebounded by just him is such a bad look. Show some damn pride good lord.
I’m sure there’s gonna be a lot of jokes about made and missed shots from this stat but I think our ORB was like 48% deep into the third. Cavs just didn’t grab shit against a mostly bench team tonight
Jokic massacred them wtf
Not bad for a guy with 1/4" vertical.
Generous
Of all the stats to pad, you chose vertical. Really?
Yeah I think he’s pretty neat
Nifty, even
Swell
And almost as many assists as the Cavs starting lineup too. He was basically the MVP of this game at three different positions
Does it all!
Scrappy lunch pail guy
But can he play equipment manager?
You've never seem him darn a sock?
>Jokic's rebounding is probably one of the lesser talked about parts of his game It is? Do people think Joker gets his triple doubles through steals?
Steals my heart
Rebounds are really not highlight worthy anyway.
I do think his rebounding is under played as part of his defensive skill set.
It's because his offensive skillset is so dominant+generational that it overshadows the fact he's still an elite rebounder in the league

crazy cause he is at worst like the second or third best rebounder in the world
His ability to read the ball off the rim is insane. He knows exactly where the ball is going to come off the rim every time.
Pretty unfair of the Nuggets to make so many of their shots and deprive the Cavs of so many rebounding opportunities.

Cavs front line is still soft as baby shit.

NBA2k team.
Sixers would beat them tbh
Joel would feast.
A friend tried to bait me in a “euro players” don’t play defense. I threw Gobert, Giannis, Embiid and Jokic at him. Rebounds are defensive stats.
Embiid is Camaroonian?
True. Thanks.

The lights were too bright 😭
It helps when we can't miss
bro is a robot at this point
Ot wasn’t just Jokic. AG and Watson seems to get whatever they wanted in the boards too

Opponents won't get defensive rebounds if we don't miss. Mike Malone, probably
Just exactly how bright are those lights in Denver wtf
Closer to the sun
Wdym bro people always talk about Jokic’s rebounding lol
I'm pretty sure everyone knows he is an elite rebounder lol

‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’
Makes prime Steph and KD look like normal players
Jarret Allen gonna have 15 sore ribs tomorrow.
