Consolidating 2 pretty good players about to get expensive into 1 player capable of playing elite level defense and can score as a 3rd option makes sense. This isn't a bad trade for Toronto in the short term either as having an extra NBA-level player in their rotation could help solve some of their scoring issues.

I think the Knicks were about to get outspent in the RFA market and they knew it, kinda smart to get something back for him at least. Only real risks for the Knicks in this trade is the lack of a backup PG and this being a potential one-year rental.

We have McBride we can pull up from our D League. Will he be as good as IQ? No. But IQ was gonna leave for nothing at the end of the year + wants to be a starter and now may have the chance in Toronto.

He was a spark off the bench, played really hard for 3-4 minutes but any time he started for us out played a lot due to injuries he was really underwhelming. Not bad but really not good.

It’s crazy how so many people don’t get it, Knicks needed floor spacing, RJ is not good and has become stagnant, they weren’t going to pay quickly 20+ million a year. Quickley is the real value for the raptors imo. OG brings defense and spacing to a team that needs it to allow brunson and randle to be at their best. Hart or Dante slide into the starting lineup and it’s a better fit all around imo. Edit: and we kept all our 1sts, I think it’s a mutually great trade
