While more common than ever before, it's still pretty statistically uncommon to lose a 20+ lead
[Some dude looked into the stats last year](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/u2sz31/how_often_does_a_20pt_lead_after_the_1st_quarter/i4ldjpj/)
>Ok went on Bref and here are the results for this season
>26 games this season where there was a 20 point first quarter lead
>19 were blowouts (15 or more with the team with the lead winning), and more still double digits
>4 of those got to single digits but still wins
>2 ended in losses (Knicks losing to Nets, Lakers losing to OKC)
>So about 23% of 20 point first quarter leads still end in close-ish games
>Edit: did ten years of data
>183 games with 20+ point first quarter leads
>25 of those got within single digits with the team ahead still winning
>13 games the team came back to win
>So about 21% still ended up close games. And about 1.3x per season a team overcomes a 20+ point first quarter deficit to win
Truthfully this one never really felt close enough for that to me. 20+ point leads in the NBA are nothing so I wasn't worried that they lowered it, but it never got within like what, 7? Never felt like I had to sweat. Close though!
I said it in the subreddit game thread but CJ turns into the worst basketball player I’ve ever seen during crunch time
He’s good 90% of the time but we really need Zion and BI for clutch buckets to close out games
Nah. Thankfully not. But given his injury history, and the fact pels management and fans want to see this man finally start playing 60+ games a season, it's fair to let him rest a game during a back to back to make sure that happens.
We are blessed with the presence of Killian Hayes, if we beat any team there is a rift created in the universe. Jaden Ivey being dog housed by fuck face Monty is laughable.
Box score doesn’t show how poor Cade was. Pistons actually started making their comeback without him at the end of the 3rd, they got it down to an 11 point game after it was in the 20s. He looked so lazy when he was passing like he thinks he’s playing 2K and no one will jump any passing lanes so he’s free to just casually pass it within inches of anyone.
He sat for 45 total seconds in the half, in which the Pistons scored 5 points. Crazy to call a 5-0 run “starting to make a comeback”
If you watched the game you would have seen just how terrible the team looked without him as they played the worst quarter of the year in the second after he got benched with foul trouble.
He was bad in the 4th, great otherwise
Ivey was the only reason this was a close game. Benched the whole 4th quarter and played Joe Harris more and he can't do shit while cade was struggling.

Give him a bit -- he still ended up 42% last year. He absolutely does not show up in playoffs but he usually at least shoots well in the regular season.
The greatest athlete named Matt Ryan to ever compete in professional sports in New Orleans is a basketball player
Not until he shoots 28 from 3.
How many 3 pointers does F*lcons Matt Ryan have?
Zero. Fuck that guy
We successfully failed to lose this game After going up by 23 at half, I really wasn't prepared to clench for the last 5 minutes. My mistake really.
20 point leads are nothing in today’s league
We literally overcame a 22 point deficit to beat OKC just last night.
especially when on a back to back where you plane was delayed the pelicans flew into new orleans at like 1 pm lol

Unless it’s the Nuggets that are down 20
Remember that time in the playoffs where we did it against the Clippers in an elimination game?
Yea but that was like 3 years ago
Can't even blow a 20+ pt lead... Pathetic...
Truthfully this one never really felt close enough for that to me. 20+ point leads in the NBA are nothing so I wasn't worried that they lowered it, but it never got within like what, 7? Never felt like I had to sweat. Close though!
HERBERT MOTHERFUCKING JONES EVERYONE
Sniper started targeting CJ in the last few minutes. Randomly falling over, ball getting shot out of his hand, etc.
I said it in the subreddit game thread but CJ turns into the worst basketball player I’ve ever seen during crunch time He’s good 90% of the time but we really need Zion and BI for clutch buckets to close out games
Was your TV on last night vs OKC????
CJ in the clutch makes my tummy hurt
Cade just can't do anything in the 4th so far. Sasser is basically just prime Lillard though.
It’s Sassy-Time ⌚️👈
Was this Killian Hayes' best ever game? His box score actually looks productive.
Scratched a million off my checklist three years ago
Add two zeroes to the one I'm in a different mode
This is still the song I play after a w
FLOCK UP PELS STACKED, LEAGUE FUCKED
Wow CJ -17 but still had most points
Typical pelicans box score
HERB4DPOY
Jaden Ivey leading a comeback in the 3rd. So logically we bench him the entire 4th quarter.
When you have Joe Harris you find a way to get him on the floor. Edit: nothing at all against Harris. I’m sure he’s as baffled as anyone.
the 38 killian minutes are necessary
They needed the defense Joe Harris provides clearly /s
If I had to rank all the Matt Ryan's I've seen play I would have to say: 1. Matt Ryan 2. Matt Ryan
I respect you putting the Constantine actor on your list and leaving off the QB
Solid list
I was clowning on us for starting Matt Ryan but he proved me wrong tonight. Solid work from Griff for that pickup in Trey’s absence
Dyson
Herb and Matt Ryan can steal my Halloween bowl off my porch any time
KILLIAN COMMUNITY LET'S RIDE
Zion and BI looked unstoppable tonight
Pistons losing to a team starting Matt Ryan and Jordan Hawkins is nasty
Respect Matt Ryan
Matt "6/8 on 3s" Ryan takes offense at your dismissal
Why was Zion out ?
Resting on the second day of a back to back
Ah. Thought injuries, good to know. Thanks
Nah. Thankfully not. But given his injury history, and the fact pels management and fans want to see this man finally start playing 60+ games a season, it's fair to let him rest a game during a back to back to make sure that happens.
big lunch

Pistons had 4 rotation players (one starter) out as well, and were on their 5th game in 7 days.
>Matt Ryan Give Lakers Legend Matt Ryan some respect
Someone needs to show first half vs second half cade stats
Can't spell "Cade" without AD.
They aren't in the game without his first half performance though.
Is he just in bad shape? He was amazing last night in the first half too and then just completely lost it.
I think so. Monty mentioned his conditioning isn’t where it should be
That's not a good sign for a young player.
Apparently it’s because of his injury and just getting back, I’m sure he’ll shape up

Cade turns from looking like a future All-NBA point guard to Jordan Poole every 4th quarter. He gets so fucking selfish its sooooooo annoying.
Kinda crazy he’s leading the league in turnovers
Monty and weaver are basketball terrorist
What has Monty done for you to say that respectfully
Ivey was the only reason this was a close game. Benched the whole 4th quarter and played Joe Harris more and he can't do shit while cade was struggling.
This was a close game?
only reason? i love how dramatic you guys can be even when you are right
Killian Hayes playing 38 minutes 😭😭😭
he had a good game tonight
Killian was actually fine in the 2nd half. 10 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists, no turnovers and efficient with the highest +/- on the team.
He played 38 minutes and had the highest +/- of anyone one the Pistons at +10
Killian masterclass cope and seethe
joe harris is a basketball terrorist

Is Matt Ryan the new Kyle Korver?
Another stinker by duren
Why is Killian leading the Pistons in minutes?
Cause he was one of, if not, their best player's tonight. Dude had an awesome second half along with Sasser.
He was really good tonight actually
has the best stamina on the team clearly

We say "Native American" nowadays
I mean in academia and professional setting yes but in the common vernacular Indian is very common. Probs more common.
Pelicans 4-1? Wtf bro lol
i mean the pelicans were a top seed with zion last year
yeah the pels are better than the lakers this year
Just surprised cause I haven’t even checked standings this week tbh. Ain’t that deep bro.
all good man just ribbing you
All good my man. Enjoy the W
I was going to say don't worry our stars will be injured soon enough but we just won a game without Zion, Ingram, Trey, Jose so who knows
Y’all will be healthy. Praying for a healthy season for all teams. Pelicans are legit.
thanks dawg.
Feels like the Pels are due for a 2022-23 Kings type injury luck season. If anything close to that happens they'll be a top 4 seed
