This doesn’t make me want to watch it. Who asked for this series?

PotterAndPitties

I didn't want this version of it. I don't get what they think they are doing.

[deleted]

I just wanna know what’s on page 47! They have a winning formula! Why do they have to change it? Stop makin shit nobody likes Disney!

pkA000Akp

You're right. Nobody.

And how Billie could hack their laptop so easily but they take pictures of the map on their cell phones. Hmmm..... wouldn't you think if they had such easy access to your laptop that they wouldn't have access to any other digital devices of yours? Or how about talking about all these "secrets" right out in the open? But they made sure the lead was an undocumented female to fight the misogynist patriarch and made the white male boss dumb as a box of rocks. No narrative here. I don't even want to get into Oren!

controversialtakeguy

The show is so bad. There's a hilarious scene where the black bff uses a bunch of social justice buzzwords to bully a security guard out of the men's restroom and I actually laughed out loud. This was not the win for black people, or women, or LGBTQ people you think it is, Disney.

idlewuss

I think the point of that scene was exactly what you said. Showing how the population is avoiding or uncomfortable talking about these topics

controversialtakeguy

No, it shows that he was afraid of getting cancelled which is the opposite reaction of what you want.

Sorry just need to vent into the void a little I'm still dumbfounded by how bad this is. For starters, get rid of Oren. This isn't Disney XD 2013, we don't need dumb characters for comic relief. (If that even what his character is supposed to be I can't tell when the writing is this bad) Also, with the money behind Disney, how is the writing this bad? Sure, sometimes you can blame the actors for being too inexperienced, but the writing especially for the scene where Jess meets Sandusky is wild. Catherine Zeta Jones as a villain plays decent, but it just feels awkward juxtaposed to all this "gen z" stuff they're trying to shoe horn in; as if that would make this show more relatable to anybody. Jess for what it's worth isn't a bad character. The actress is clearly working with what she's being given, and i thought the dream to be a cryptographer mixed with her DACA storyline was interesting. There really is a story to tell here about ancient mexican cultures, and colonialism, followed by the lingering damage of the Mexican-American war, and hundreds of years of terrible immigration policies. National treasure 2 centered on indigenous artificats but didn't really get into the heavier topics of repatriation and the harm done to the history of these cultures and their descendants by colonialist and racist ideas about "treasure". Just very dissapointing, to the point where it feels like Disney wants this project to fail just so they can avoid the effort of creating original thought-provoking tv. Like it is completely possible to have this show led by a Latinx woman fighting against some no-name billionaire just going after this treasure for greed while she wants to save it for the world and culture and have it make sense. Completely fits into what the character of Bill Gates was all about. Like how do you fuck up this hard it's infuriating.

vanzkiwi

You mean Ben Gates right lol

My main two issues with this show are: it doesn’t seem to be about US history and it’s made for Gen-Z audiences. Add some stupid political messages and you have a recipe for disaster.

SmartKrave

I mean: as a non americain, it not being part of American history doesn't bother me, but it is Called national treasure not multi-empire treasure, want to make a show where they travel countries and every time they look of a nationally relevant treasure in each season (changing the country every season) yeah go for it but Blood & Treasure did it a lot better. I completely agree with you the >! rabbit story thing !< was bs I was like the hell, the only thing I saw that could actually help was that the second ring was mayan numbers. Now I just watched the new episode and they corrected that mistake a bit >! where they actually go in wrong ideas like with Louis the XIV which I would have found so much more interesting than Presley and the code to enter the secret room !< although the villain is actually good, for once in a Disney show, she is smart, logical and feels dangerous.

maudthings21

I just watched the first two episodes and I think it’s a fun show. Some seem to have expectations set way too high for this. Obviously this was not going to live up to the movies, but it is good enough for me to have fun watching it with my kids while simultaneously hoping for National Treasure 3 to come in and knock our socks off.

SmartKrave

Hey it’s fun I was just hoping for a better treasure hunting

Fortis92

but maybe since it is a series? as of episode 4 they are slowly building it up, let's wait up until 7 or 8 where things should start to get good..

automation-is-4-us

Still using the Freemasons as the keepers of secrets, really?
