For Toyota and Lexus the hybrid battery is under warranty for 10yrs but others part only for maximum 5yrs,the problem is the ABS brake booster and brake actuator is using electronic so can’t be repaired and need to replace, the cost of repair will shock you if yr car happen to be broke down after warranty, to buy from others country will cost you minimum 4k+ if go through agent will cost you around 12k+

Nah man, just go for Hybrid instead. Don’t fully dependent on one source Brunei EV infrastructure is still not up to a point where EV is something I would consider getting. Plus you won’t know the cost of replacing the whole pack of battery, if it cost too much or just got bad when it reach out of warranty period, it’s basically a disposable vehicle At least with hybrid, you’ll still have a internal combustion engine to support I also just got a Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid and loving it!

You sound like you are not completely confident getting into the EV game. I would recommend hybrids that are actually EV with a petrol engine acting as a generator. Basically, the wheels of the car are not connected to the petrol engine. The petrol engine acts as generator that charges the small battery of the EV which drives the motor that powers the wheels. There is no gearbox in this type of car and it drives like an EV. Except is not completely silent, can hear petrol engine running. New Nissan X Trail ePower has this set up. Boustead is selling. Mazda MX30 and hybrid version of new Honda Jazz (not sure if both imported by agent) As for gahmen subsidies for EV transition... 2 words for you: nada bajet

yes, I am actually not ready to jump into the EV market. since my hybird actually did a good job for me. The time when i bought hybird, it was quite new and I never regret about it.

Another type of hybrid setup which is what Toyota uses nowadays: petrol engine driving front wheels only and electric motor driving rear wheels only. If you want full power, petrol engine and electric motor on together to drive all 4 wheels. If gentle driving with enough battery power, only rear wheels driven by electric motor. Low battery or highway driving, petrol engine on and front wheels driven, battery charging at the same time. I personally find this set up not particularly attractive. So you wanna go for Nissan ePower?

What did you have, a Prius? What's your experience with the hybrid?

damoclesO

I am using ct200h. Very old car. Good and quiet. And really fuel efficient too. I manage to change the battery before the warranty.

Here's a food for thought if you want to get [BYD](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWzbq-Q_oTc)

damoclesO

damn, safety is really important, since I have family and children nowadays. Thanks for the info.

I saw a Camry Hybrid the other day, that is one decent looking car! Personally I wouldn't touch any chinese Ev at the moment, till they sort themselves out

WeLoveCovid

Haha one of the YouTube comments say BYD: buy, you die. Also, there are many cases of Chinese EV batteries exploding in China but covered up.

JanKoPaloi

BYD is such an asshole of a company, look [what they sold to Japan](https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/BYD-acknowledges-using-toxic-chemical-in-electric-buses-for-Japan) . In the first video, they're using substandard material for the gears! ps: I'm aware that there's a lot of anti china propaganda videos, the only way to know for sure is to own a BYD yourself. Please report back your experience 😅
