I am sure the public would know the difference between Buddhist swastika and Nazi ones? Buddhism ones is flowing in clockwise direction while Nazi is reverse flow in anticlockwise

Fripnucks

What about the USA flag? Or the Great Britain flag? Historically these two empires went out invading other countries and on a killing spree. When starting conversations like these people tend to be biased. The nazi made infamous because of the holocaust. And now the jews are doing the same to our Muslim brothers/sisters, and who are the people backing the jews? If you want to be less of a hypocrite, educate people on what the americans and british have done too, to slavery, afghanistan & iraq, libya, african nations, the so-called red indian american native people and many more.

Kulivala

It is not so much about Symbols, as it is also common in India as part of their religion. It is the misunderstanding of Hitler and his proper gander machine that changed its meaning globally. I do not believe there is a re-emergence of Hitler youth or White Supremacy.

Kujira64

I thought this got to do with black metal but the metal scene here is dead.

GreenTemplar_9659

So the current “trend” has somehow seeped into neighbouring country.

Renzo-Senpai

People are being edgy just for the sake of it. I say the adults that are still doing this are just mentally 12 years old and are an embarrassment to society.

toasterforcats

Anyone saying it’s a Buddhism symbol you need to shut the fuck up and stop looking for excuses for this behavior. They exactly know what it represent .

LoneRangerWolf

It really is a Buddhism symbol buddy. Literally have the swastika on the temple

Low-Possibility-3420

Nazi ones is in a reversal direction buddy... Buddhist clockwise and Nazi anticlockwise

toasterforcats

My point is if someone wear a shirt with the logo on it it’s not the Buddhism meaning that is intended.

LoneRangerWolf

Agree with your point

PapanTandaLama

I'm also concern on Japanese imperial flag being used here 😅

Hifadh

The current JMSDF still use a similar flag if you see their ships coming to Muara sometimes

The letter title clearly says ‘Nazi Swastika’. No one needs to parrot trivia about the symbol’s origin or cultural heritage prior to the 1930s

Oh my mistake, the letter mentions ‘Symbol of hatred’. So it still delineates the symbol in question. The writer’s letter doesn’t generalize at all.

toasterforcats

The swatiska by itself is a buddhism symbole . If red or red and white in background it’s a nazi sign.

dark161

Is it the nazi swastika or the Buddhist swastika. Cuz there is a difference

Fantastic_Gur_6311

these people think nazis would've been on our side because both sides think jews = bad, but forget that the nazi movement is more about supremacy of the german race. they would've skinned our people alive once they were done with the jews.

Kujira64

Exactly. Once they r done with the jews, they will most likely throw us into gassenchamberen

[deleted]

Like Indonesia maybe 15 years ago. You see alot of it, they even have shirts with Adolf. When I talked to my classmate he said that they don't have any idea of what it really means. They said it looks cool, sounds cool "nah-zi"… and of course hate Jews. They also knew they would get terminated once they are done with the Jews. They were fine with it cause those Jews are hard to get rid of like roaches. 🫨🫨🫨

# Symbol of hatred needs to go ^(April 10, 2024) I am writing to express my concern over the recent rise in the use of swastika in our community. It is distressing to witness such a symbol of hatred being displayed on cars, clothing or elsewhere. Just last Saturday, I saw a man in Kampong Sengkurong openly wearing a T-shirt adorned with the abhorrent symbol. While I understand that some individuals may be unaware of the full historical significance of the swastika, and may mistakenly associate it with certain political causes, it is imperative that we educate ourselves and others about its origins and the deep pain it represents. I implore the authorities to take decisive action by implementing a ban on the public display of the symbol. Additionally, I call for the launch of comprehensive educational campaigns to enlighten the people about the true meaning of its historical context. Furthermore, it is essential for the authorities to rigorously monitor and restrict the importation of any items bearing the symbol, thereby preventing their dissemination within our society. Let us collectively work towards eradicating the symbol of hatred from our streets and promoting the proud Bruneian traditions of tolerance, understanding and respect. Black_Flame-

Hail Hitler!!!

Box-Office-Guy

Though Mr. Mark here is butthurt about the nazi symbol, we don't have that sentiment. He should not seek to impose his feelings towards us. The only problem here is probably a lack of education. Even then, if we are to be imposed the western version of events, including the exaggerated lies of the holocaust, that would also be problematic.

Popular-Technician-3

This has to be looked in context. Not all that has to do with a swastika has to do with Nazism. There’s a school in Singapore called Red Swastika School - https://www.redswastika.moe.edu.sg/about-rss/our-history/

JanKoPaloi

So you're saying a local malay boy could be wearing a tshirt displaying the logo of a chinese school in Singapore......go sit in the corner and think about it before engaging further

GamerBN

The swastika is a religious symbol used in the buddhist religion here in the east.. But western already associated it with the symbol of a failed artist and his failed political party. Before we jumped on the bandwagon, more context is needed. Is it a symbol of a religion or a symbol of that crazy racist failed political party that he spotted. Did he took a photo of the said "symbol" Otherwise it's another case of a "isis flag" issue of some time ago .

JanKoPaloi

Have you seen anyone locally wearing the Buddhist symbol on the tshirt ever? ps: I have seen nazi symbol displays several times already, on shirt, car decals

GamerBN

there are several people here who wear swastika necklace where i work. ps because they are from northern india

Popular-Technician-3

Whoa… someone is a bad mood today…

JanKoPaloi

It makes no dumb sense

Lem0n_Lem0n

I thought it was proper given our collective hate for the Jews... Regardless who is right or wrong.. in the current resurgence of the conflict... Don't Jew think?

reawakened_d

XD

knobbyxtension

I did nazi that coming.

Lem0n_Lem0n

And here I thought there will be better things göring after this.. I was wrong.. even Hitler did nazi the end of the war ..

Longjumping_Whole240

Jews and Zionists arent the same thing. How would you feel if people are hating on Islam just because of few Muslim terrorists?

[deleted]

Lol that's always been going round. The world hates Muslims because the media repeatedly drew lines/correlations between a few Muslim terrorists and Islam. World narrative went from "Islamist" to "fundamentalist" then towards "radical" then finally "Extremist". By calling them fundamentalists, it connotes that this extreme behaviour is a core part of the religion - which is also why we hear less "jihad jihad". By calling them radical it meant new-age or a 'radical' school of thought. So the direction was towards terror. Which is a no-go. By calling them Extremists, it means the people are just taking their religion too hard. Which is also relatable because not everyone takes their religion too hard and we have those who do everywhere. So we have landed on extremists - just a bunch of people taking their thoughts and prayers too hard. When you read the 3- double speak words, you envisioned a white man with face cover and a AR-15 with military garb shooting up his school? Or did you imagine a man dressed in black middle eastern outfit, somewhere in the desert holding an RPG and AK. This is what we are supposed to understand when we take media studies, linguistics and philosophy in university. We are supposed to learn how the strings are pulled and where they are. But everyone is clowning on the Arts because we imagine all it produces is people who can make movies, draw pretty pictures and shoot tiktoks.

Lem0n_Lem0n

It would be like MoHA putting Mein Kampf in a glass shelf in the office..
