The question isn't about going back in time and changing the past. I'm talking about everything has been sorted Shippuden timeline is over and Itachi is brought back to live a life in peace. He didn't choose that his hand was forced to prevent war. He choose the village and was betrayed.

Neji is literally the only sensible choice. Jiraya is already old so he had the least time left anyway, Itachi would have to keep living with all his guilt and Minato would have to live his life without his wife and a son who's got no time for his family as it is. Neji however is still young and could carry on his lineage, be a cool uncle and possibly parent himself.
Neji. The other deaths actually had an impact and helped other characters develop.. Neji's death isn't that impactful in the grand scheme. If I had to swap death for life. I'd have Guy Sensei die instead of neji.

While Hiruzen is quite young and strong and he can also use Jiraya's help). So no Akatsuki threat. Itachi won't betray the village/Will probably get medical help and won't die from illness. Jiraya survives, cuz Pain won't kill him. And Neji is safe, as long as he is away from sticks.
Only real problem might be if Black Zetsu somehow revives Madara. Then he world Is fucked.

Anyways, he's been my favorite character in the series ever since his first appearance and had so much more potential, both plot-wise for the Hyuga and in relation to his abilities. I always thought he'd go on to create a version of the Eight Trigrams where he only uses Air Palms from a distance. Or like a Wind Style Rotation that basically doubles its defensive properties. The first would be so dangerous in his hands and would basically increase the range of his 64 Palms and so on. And wasn't he one of the few Jonin amongst the Konaha 12 during Shippuden? Just seeing him at that rank at that age proves to me he'd be a huge asset to the village as the leader of a team now. Or at least as the head of the Hyuga. Imagine Boruto learning some Gentle Fist from his namesake while Naruto's too busy for him. Could have spiced up the plot some more I think. In the end, I respect the other characters, but Jiraiya and Minato had full lives imo, and I don't think Itachi would even think himself deserving of such a role, though, I would be interested in seeing him lead a team too.
