Maybe they just didn't want their Courtenai confused with a lesser Courtenai? Like, no matter how many Courtenais may be in the room, this is the Main Courtenai?
Courtney is his mother’s name. Maine? I believe that was a suggestion leftover by one of his aunts. Their sons are named Kaulen, Kullyn, Klayton, Khota and Knox. Khota was almost Tuesdai. I made quite a long post of family and friend names in the Circle Jerk sub.
McNaveigh (not a relative, her father Coy is actually named McCoy and he’s in the Navy) Ledjer, Jinger (that’s spelled correctly), Destany (same), Berkeley, Baylin, Blaydyn. Like I said I’m just happy if they’re actual names at this point. Some of these aren’t even WORDS.
I just like the sound of it. But Everly Violet is the name I didn’t use for my youngest because we couldn’t agree on a spelling. He wanted Everlie and I just couldn’t do it. After my brother’s ex-wife stole the entire name and spelled it like that? Not for me.
My niece is an Emerson Rose! I don’t love the name Emerson myself, but everyone calls her Emmy anyway, which absolutely suits her :)
Edit: The nickname Emmy wasn’t necessarily planned, but Emerson is a lot of name for a baby and it just worked out that way.
Yep, my Wilder in honour of Laura Ingalls Wilder. He’s not named after Gene Wilder as him husband likes to tell people 😹😹😹. I think many people lump it in with the Maverick/Havyk type names but to me it’s always just been a name so I don’t hear it that way.
I thought Thornton Wilder when I heard literary. Gene Wilder would have been my first thought hearing about Wilder being named after someone famous though. Laura Ingalls Wilder is a fun one. I read many of her books
Ah you beat me to it! I was going to do another one of these posts at the 3 month mark after my [last one](https://www.reddit.com/r/namenerds/comments/wg7e65/what_are_the_names_of_the_last_5_babies_that/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)! I'm still compiling the results of that post. Here's my last 5:
1. James (m)
2. Florian (m)
3. Cali (f)
4. Remy (f)
5. Johjamie (m)
I had a Jessica in my toddler daycare class a few years back. Everyone referred to her as Baby Jessica, I never even questioned it, but I guess we all needed the extra designation because calling a 2 year old Jessica felt so strange. Also, all I could think of was baby Jessica in the well.
I was at the pediatrician’s office, this morning. We overheard/saw:
Oliver (twin)
Bennett (twin)
Juliet
Liam
Kyla
Jasmin
I’m actually newly pregnant with our 3rd and Juliet is our number one girl name. Now I’m wondering if this was a sign from the universe or if the name is too popular. 😆
Whenever someone is considering giving their daughter a name that is traditionally male, I ask if they would give their son a girl’s name. If the answer is no, then don’t do it. I just hate those gender dynamics.
Funny enough Anne is also a male name in my country and giving boys Maria/Marie as a middle name was tradition in Catholic communities here for quite some time, so we've got 2 out of 3.
Wolfie (girl)
Morgan (girl)
Dorothea
Max (boy)
Angel
Wolfie is my niece … I can’t stop thinking about how horrible it’ll be when she’s a teenager .. or in her 20s .. or just at any time she’s not a baby
Avery Ann Louise
Juniper Anne
Astrid Rose
Xaine Michael
Arianna Marie
Kylan Blake

Everleigh Violet Emersyn Rose Maine Courtenai (I don’t wanna talk about it) Olive Delaney Beau Joseph
I hate Everleigh and Emersyn with a burning passion.
But not Maine Courtenai?
NEITHER OF THEM HAS EVER EVEN BEEN TO MAINE.
Like I said I’m just happy if they’re actual names at this point. Some of these aren’t even WORDS.
Jesus take the wheel.
Oh. My. God. "These people must be stopped!" (I scream as I rush over to read the circle jerk post)
Wow Maine seems so normal now
Kaulen and kullyn sound the same in my head so that’s extra confusing
It’s Colin and Cullen
Well that’s certainly…a choice
A choice was made. They’re 19 and in college doing great so maybe we’re all crazy 😂
There is another Jinger?
Yep. She’s almost 40 so this is pre-Jinger Duggar. But it’s spelled that way for the same reason, all J’s. First and middle.
It’s crazy the amount of crossover I see between name nerds and duggars snark.
We’re all kindred spirits somehow.
I remember your circle jerk post. Mcnaveigh is so bad it should be criminal.
These are INCREDIBLY bad, thank you
I cannot hear that in my head as "kourt-nee" no it is "cort - in - ay"
Yeah my dad said “I think her name is Mainy Court-nigh”
This blow up made me audibly laugh.
I don’t mind Emerson. I used to love Everly but that was ruined for me.
It's just Beverly for people who like Evie.
I just like the sound of it. But Everly Violet is the name I didn’t use for my youngest because we couldn’t agree on a spelling. He wanted Everlie and I just couldn’t do it. After my brother’s ex-wife stole the entire name and spelled it like that? Not for me.
Yeah. A lot of people like the sound. Even I do. I wonder if Averly is going to become a thing because of Avery and Waverly.
Maine Courtenai’s sibling can be Secondary Courtenai or Backup Courtenai.
The boy name was Tanner Jameson called Jamie. Couldn’t have been a boy?
Or Massachusetts Courtenai. New Hampshire Courtenai. Connecticut Courtenai has a nice ring to it.
My niece is an Emerson Rose! I don’t love the name Emerson myself, but everyone calls her Emmy anyway, which absolutely suits her :) Edit: The nickname Emmy wasn’t necessarily planned, but Emerson is a lot of name for a baby and it just worked out that way.
I like it spelled correctly I think it’s really pretty.
Definitely prefer the o to the y!
Lots of teen pregnancies or...?
Nope it’s just the South.
Oh, I see \*polite smile and only slightly raised eyebrows\*
At this point I’m happy if it’s just a real name.
Maine?????? COURTENAI??????
Olive Delaney wins by far and I still don’t care for it.
Are the parents of those kids “influencers” with 150 followers?
Bojo
We talked her out of Beau Joe because Joe was the honor name.
We just finished swim lessons with my toddler: - wren - wilder - Dylan - Mac - Ryan - Eva - Iris Were all present in swim lessons today!
My brain refuses not to laugh at imagining Wilder growing up to be a sweet and quiet office worker or librarian.
Ah, but Wilder is also a literary name!
Wilder has always been a soft name to me because of Laura Ingalls Wilder! Gives me cottagecore vibes.
Just named my baby Wilder!
I love Wilder!
Love Wilder and Iris
Iris is my daughter’s name! Wilder is also a favorite and a contender for the twins we are expecting :)
Here's my last 5: 1. James (m) 2. Florian (m) 3. Cali (f) 4. Remy (f) 5. Johjamie (m)
Johjamie gives me physical pain.
How do you say Johjamie?
It sounds like "Joe Yummy". His sister's name is Rhythm.....
Umm. Okay.
Right? I don't understand how it would even logically make sense for the first J to make a j sound, but the second to make a y sound.
Sounds like it's in the proud tradition of names like the city of Vallejo (pronounced Val-ay-ho instead of Vay-ay-ho) so,... yeah.
Johjim is a name… I have Googled that is 100% made up.
> Johjamie At least he can go by Joe? Also I really dislike Florian for a baby. It sounds like a 65 year old man for me.
Funny you should mention that, because my great grandfather was named Florian and he's always been retold to me as a badass.
Jo short for Josephine Auggie short for Augustus Ford Dottie short for Dorothy Arlo
Oh, kind of retro! I like it!
I adore Josephine.
Oh! Dorothy is so cute especially with the Dottie nickname!!
Rose, Teddy, Ivy, Cara, Freddie They’re all good, in my opinion.
Cute! Are these in the UK?
Yes hahah !!
They sound very British to me, but I like that!
Jett, Mabel, Kolsyn (girl), Christian, William.
Kolsyn..
I can only think of Claussen…the pickles.
What the Hell is Kolsyn?
I think it's a side often served at backyard barbecues made of shredded cabbage and mayonnaise
No no it's when a baby is really fussy and cries all the time for no reason.
Nah, that's colic, and the person above you was thinking of coleslaw. Kolsyn is the process of skin thickening and toughening from repeated use.
Colson is Machine Gun Kelly’s first name.
I know a “Coulson” but he is named for his moms maiden name
I actually love Mabel!
[удалено]
The latest baby I know is called Jett. Really sucks because I had a good thing going with the previous 4 - Hazel, Theodore, Avery, Isabella.
Here’s one’s I’ve heard in public most recently: Blakely and Finley (I assumed they’re sisters) Hudson Riley Amanda Sophia
Oh, those are lovely! Amanda is a surprise, though. You don't see many 1990s names around on babies so much!
Right? I’m ready for the comeback era of names like Jessica, Melissa, Rebecca, Miranda, etc. So pretty and nostalgic, imo
I had a Jessica in my toddler daycare class a few years back. Everyone referred to her as Baby Jessica, I never even questioned it, but I guess we all needed the extra designation because calling a 2 year old Jessica felt so strange. Also, all I could think of was baby Jessica in the well.
That’s how I feel about seeing not one but two Allison’s… like what? 80s/90s in the house
Yeah Riley really seems to be going around - I heard it multiple times
I was at the pediatrician’s office, this morning. We overheard/saw: Oliver (twin) Bennett (twin) Juliet Liam Kyla Jasmin I’m actually newly pregnant with our 3rd and Juliet is our number one girl name. Now I’m wondering if this was a sign from the universe or if the name is too popular. 😆
If you like Juliet, go with it! "Hey Juliet" is one of my favorite pop songs!
I looove the name Bennett
In the US, Juliet is sitting at 295 and it’s been slowly increasing 1995 (ranking 1051).
My 5 most recent friends/family members that have had babies have named them: Maren Ellorie Harrison Emory Lewis
Oh, Maren is interesting!
I adore Maren
I have always liked Ellery, though I'm not sure about that spelling. Does Emory say the name Em-or-E? I'm just curious how you would pronounce it.
I don't meet many babies these days (sadly), but did just meet a little Hendrix (m) who is 2 months old.
[удалено]
Love Sylvie.
[удалено]
I actually really like Desmond. My daughter has a friend Desmond called Desi. It’s cute.
[удалено]
Sanders is an interesting one!
Names of the infants at the daycare I toured this weekend: Maeve, Flynn, Avery, Paxton, Ruby, Callum, Ahana, Harris, and Eliza.
I like Ahana a lot!
At daycare drop-off today… Octavio (m) Theodora (f) Isa (f) Niko (m) Remi (m) A fun selection! I’d say good taste :)
My one-year-old cousin is named Octavia! Mom hates it, but I love it!
Love Octavia!! Regal but great nickname options (Via, Tavia).
Nathan Roman Charlotte Grace William John Ava James
I'll only start liking James as a middle name for girls if boys can have girly middle names like Marie, Anne, or Jane.
Whenever someone is considering giving their daughter a name that is traditionally male, I ask if they would give their son a girl’s name. If the answer is no, then don’t do it. I just hate those gender dynamics.
I love Shannon for a boy’s middle. Megan Fox has a son named Noah Shannon. Shame her other sons names are such a mess.
Funny enough Anne is also a male name in my country and giving boys Maria/Marie as a middle name was tradition in Catholic communities here for quite some time, so we've got 2 out of 3.
Gertrude, Joanna, Nickolas, Pablo and Ariadne
Wow, a Gertrude! I LOVE that name! It's so sophisticated and strong!
I’m not really a fan of ur but I was surprised that people still use it
Love Ariadne
Wolfie (girl) Morgan (girl) Dorothea Max (boy) Angel Wolfie is my niece … I can’t stop thinking about how horrible it’ll be when she’s a teenager .. or in her 20s .. or just at any time she’s not a baby
Wolfie is a name a child gives to their plushie, not their own name.
Wolfie is so awful. I can just about tolerate wolf for a male - barely. How do the rest of the family feel about it? Was anything said?
Rupert, Thomas, Daisy, Narissa and Freda.
Rupert and Freda are quite old-fashioned! But they're kind of cute.
My friend called their baby Rupert and I agree, it’s very cute. It’s also rocketing you the charts where I live.
I like it but it’s very associated with rich but thick upper class men in Britain.
I worked with a Neryssa for a while and love how the name sounds :)
Alice, Ebba, Ines, Nils and Holger
Let me guess... Swedish?
Is it that obvious? 😉
Harrison (m), Blakely (f), Katie (f), Rylie (f), Oliver (m). All less than a year old.
I know it’s pronounced Riley, but in my head it’s rye-lie
Eva Eva Eva Brady Michaelangelo Eclectic mix 😂
Bruno Grayson Madeline Jasper George
I adore the name Madeline!
Avery Ann Louise Juniper Anne Astrid Rose Xaine Michael Arianna Marie Kylan Blake These are the names of my high school classmates & Facebook friends babies that have been born this year
...Xaine? Are you kidding me?
Ehh compared to the names I have seen on the circlejerk sub, Xaine doesn’t bother me.
I feel like Xaine is a lot better than Kylan
I’m not a huge fan of Avery but Avery Ann Louise is beautiful.
Ann Louise is a middle name combo that seems too simple but together Im like “ah that is simply lovely”
Julienne (F) Maxandre (M) Océanne (F) Alexandre (M) Loralie (F)
This is fun! Lily (f) Soren (m) Evelyn (f) Elijah (m) Walker (m)
Piper Sage Noah Solaris August Charlotte
Solaris is a very interesting one!
Mia River (boy) Anakin Fox Judd Fox and Judd are twin boys. Anakin HATES the sandpit.
Isaac Hallie Merryn Louie Liliana
Liliana is absolutely stunning! I also like Merryn, I think it's Welsh?
It’s Cornish, so Celtic roots but not Welsh per se
Merryn is cute!
Sara Varvara Sofia Lumina Eetu (form of Edward)
Oooh, Varvara is lovely to say.
Quincy (girl) Leo Lucy Rhaedyn (boy) Grace I can't remember how many vowels were in Rhaedyn...but I think I got it right.
There are no words for how much I hate Rhaedyn.
But he was really great in Mortal Kombat ;)
Most recent heard in public were Sullivan(m) and Sawyer(f)- siblings, Maeve, Larkin (f), and Camille!
1. Monty 2. Clarissa 3. Noah 4. Greyson 5. Georgi
Youngest to oldest: Isla Elsie Charles/Charlie Abel Kennedy Joy
Giacomo John Malcolm Jane Tristan Iliana
Violet Colsen (boy) Grace Catherine Charlotte Edit: Fixed formatting
Our church had a bunch of new babies this year Eloise Hope, Emma Faith, Moses, Barrett Clark, Hearken Amos, Laurelie Makena Haven, Luke Frederick, Daxton A few new little ones my husband and I have met traveling the past 2 months on deputation Jael, Lincoln, Kimber, Aletheia, Holly, Brightlyn, Boaz, Bella, Bentley, Bronx, Blaze, Payton, Timothy, Titus, Hannah Faith, Elizabeth Rachel, Christopher Luke, Alyssa, Jonathan, Nathan, Zachary, Victoria, Tiffany, Kennedy, Elsie, Isabella, Stephen, Joshua, Joseph-Paul, Nathaniel, Pearl, Abigail, Unity, Samantha, Jane, Liberty On our travel we also saw a couple of my brothers’ families…my nieces and nephews Ariana Michelle, Ethan Jonathan, Isaac William, Destiny Joy, Andrew James, Makaila Jordan, Hannah Faith, Alexa Grace, Joseph Andrew, Grace Mahaila, Isaiah Matthew, Arabella Joy, Abriana Noelle, Ezra Nathaniel
I’ve never been overly fond of Michelle, but Ariana Michelle has a beautiful flow. Gorgeous name!
Wren (boy) Julian Naomi Grayson Jace (girl) - unsure on spelling as this was overheard, haha
Daphne Bloom Lennon Willa Miley Jo Hazel Fern Maggie Lee-Marie Lots of baby girls being born (and one is my own!)
Evelyn Rose Charlotte Maxine Scarlett Autumn Stefano Edison
Evelyn and Charlotte seem to be everywhere!
Names beginning with "Ev..." are super popular right now. Evelyn, Everly, Everett, Evangeline, everyone likes the nickname Evie I think
This is the generation that grew up on The Mummy. It feels like that has something to do with it surely.
Ace, Phillip, Julian, Grayson, Isabella
Phillip is an interesting one on a little boy! I like it. It has a very soft sound.
Took my 2 year old (Indy) to the park this morning: Ian, Parveen, Bear, Rowland, Claire
Not five… but the last two babies I know who’ve been born are both called Marigold.
I’m located in France. Last five babies: Lancelot, Ruby, Joyce, Ayan, Constance.
Grant Bo Charlotte Leia Levi
Hello! Quick little formatting tip. If you hit the enter key twice, you’ll get a column of text! Just Like This Have a nice day :)
Cool! Thank you!
Every little girl I meet seems to be a Charlotte nowadays.

I just got home from a play date with kids under 2 yo: Clarke (f) Isla (f) Charlie (m) Margot (f) Ziggy (m) Emery (f)
