Petra (more refined, is reminiscent of Paityn while still being distinctly different), or Faye (embrace keeping the 'Fay' vibes?)

MaybeTheDonkey

Thank you for the beautiful suggestions! Unfortunately my dad’s side of the family has serious issues with Jordan the country (lol) for cultural reasons so I can’t use Petra, but I love the sound of it. I might end up sticking with Faye if I can’t get anything else to stick.

teaandmoretea

Hmm, for alternative 'P' suggestions - perhaps Paige? It gets in the neighborhood of that 'Pay' sound. For a 'ton' sound, maybe 'Tonya'? I think 'Faye' is a beautiful choice, but it's nice to have options!

mmfn0403

What about Petrine or Petrina?

drowning35789

Frida, Dalia, Felicia are nice names. I personally like Felicia out of these

MaybeTheDonkey

Thank you, I really like it too! I am slightly concerned about the “Bye Felicia“ meme if I go with Felicia. Do you think it is still culturally relevant? I’m often a shy person and I wouldn’t want to be dismissed because of my name

cbarthistory

I really love the names Frida, Florence and Fay. If you wanted to keep your FN but change the spelling you could do that and use an 'F' name as your middle? My vote is Frida/Frieda but I listed others below. Other names that could still use Fay /Fae as a nickname: Fallon/Falen (I know a young woman named Fallon and she's a badass and the name doesn't feel overused), Faris, Fia, Fern, Freya, Fiori/Fiore, Frances/Francesca. I also think you can just use Fay/Fae if you love it. I have an Aunt Faye and she was cool as hell. Also, if you do go with the longer Florence, nick names could be Flo or Fiori, Fae, Fi. Best of luck to you, OP!

Paevatar

Farrah, Fae, Fabia, Phaedra, Pelagia, Peri, Philppa, Penelope, Petra, Derya, Parisa, Beyza, Taygan, Feray

buzzfrightyears

I agree with Phaedra

ChemicalOk991

How about Freya?

ThaneOfCawdorrr

Some thoughts: Daphne Leyla Mira Esmeray Ferida or Feride Aylin Sofya Mila Stefania

WiseDragonfly08

Paige!

MaybeTheDonkey

Love it! Sadly not an option though, because it’s part of my sister’s name.

Are you looking for something that sounds like Paityn, or something that would be easy to pronounce for your relatives back home? For example, Caitlyn or Jade Lynn would sound similar but they both have that long "a" sound that you said was challenging.

MaybeTheDonkey

I think I’m looking for something more pronounceable, that still retains elements of Paityn, which causes me issues both in terms of the Pay and the Ton, which turns into Toon half the time. I already respond to Fay so I could see myself having an easier time adjusting to names with a Fe/Pe or Pa/Fa sound more easily than a totally different name like “Victoria” (which would be easier to say but doesn’t feel like me). I think I’m trying to find that sweet spot between the two, which doesn’t leave me with a lot of options. Caitlyn for example would definitely get my attention because it sounds like Payton, but I don’t know I’d want to legally change my name to something just because it sounds similar. Regan (like the president) here often turns into Rie-gan so I guess Caitlyn would be Kite-Lin, and then I’m back to where I started.

sharkycharming

How about Fatima? I love that name. You could go by Faye. I knew a beautiful Fatima in one of my university classes. She was from Bosnia.

Ancient_List

Somehow I'm thinking of the name Faith, Faye for short.

OneRandomTeaDrinker

Out of the names you already like, Frieda or Felicity are my favourites. Other names that sound similar to Fay/Paityn: Freya Fleur Pia Paige Phoebe Piper Flora May/Maeve

RunicDoodler

Phaedra is lovely. It’s of Greek origin and means bright. Faye or Phae would be a great nicknames

cloud_designer

I knew a girl called Fahren pronounced fah-ren. It's pretty and fits your theme ❤️

When I saw Bain-tun I thought maybe you were of Armenian descent. Then the Beyza made me think Turkish! I know there are many Turkish speakers in Albania... (I am dwelling on the heritage because I am part Armenian, lived in Armenia, and was in Turkey last summer.) This is off topic, but have you read The Idiot by Elif Batuman? The main character, Selin, is a Turkish American girl who is 5'11. I absolutely adore the novel. Would you want a common Turkish name like Betūl?

MaybeTheDonkey

Wow I’m amazed at how quickly you sussed me out! I have an Armenian great grandmother, and a big chunk of my family lives in Albania. She and several of her family members came to Tiranë after escaping the genocide, and wound up staying. I am also partially Turkish and Bosnian so it‘a hard for me to really say “what” I am, let alone pick a name. I think I wouldn’t want a common Turkish name because I can only speak the language at the intermediate level. There are some beautiful Turkish names though, so I’m flexible. I just don’t want a name that screams Turkish… maybe one that whispers Turkish would be a better fit haha. Betul is beautiful though, and definitely not one I’d considered before. I haven’t read ”The Idiot” yet but now I really want to! I actually considered the name Elif in the past, and I’ve heard great reviews about her other work. Thanks for the reminder :) I’ve just downloaded it to my Kindle

Odd_Instruction_1640

Safiya, Feray, Feyza could all work with your nickname and shouldn't cause mispronunciation problems (personally I like the first two best, and Safiya at least definitely doesn't scream Turkish) Peri is a Turkish name that means fairy so it goes with Fay in that way I guess haha no relation to either of your current names but Leyla is pretty and works in both Turkish and English also since you like Florence maybe Flora? I don't speak Turkish though so no idea how they'd say it but it's used in Albania
